Tried this place for the first time a few days ago -- I ordered chicken katsu ramen and chicken karaage to go. The ramen was tasty -- came with a soft boiled egg, corn, seaweed, cabbage, green onion and decent noodles. The chicken katsu absorbed the broth which was delicious. The broth itself was rich and savory but not too salty. The chicken karaage was basically crispy chicken pieces -- the portion was large but I was very disappointed to find no spicy Mayo for dipping and minimal matcha salt on the chicken. I attempted to call the restaurant but they were already closed unfortunately. Given the good ratings, my expectations were definitely higher. It likely would have been a solid 4 stars if order was accurately given.

A beautiful little place out in Laveen! The food is delicious, I am a big fan of Ramen and Ja Ramen did not disappoint. Ive come here twice now. The Miso Ramen was amazing the first time. The second visit I got a Miso Dumpling Ramen bowl and that was also delicious!! One small downside is the service. They are very friendly but seem short staffed and the food does take a little longer than normal to prepare. Luckily, they have entertaining anime shows playing on the big screen to pass the time. 4.5/5.0 stars easy!

Went with a couple friends since one of them highly recommended this place for ramen. Ordered the miso ramen, takoyaki, and chicken karaage. All of them tasted great and no complaints as well. Friend got the katsu ramen and the presentation on that looked great. Also got the hot green matcha tea, but that was alright though. The service was friendly and quick. The ambiance of the restaurant is very modern with some Japanese decor. Overall, a good sit down place to enjoy a meal with a couple friends or family members.

While on the lonely 202 south from the west, which is great because the traffic is minimal, stop off here at Ja Ramen. The food is , quick to arrive & very good. Tried the tonkonosu ramen; creamy with lots of flavor, thinner noodles than I usually get, good portion, little fatty pork but it is "pork belly". Tried "Macha" hot for the 1st time, it's good. Joseph is a one man show, the man doesn't stop, very attentive, cares about the place & how customers enjoy their meal. Great job Joseph & thank you. I will be back.

Ja Ramen is a vibey little place that's proven to be a great addition to Laveen's growing restaurant scene. They offer yummy eats and a limited drink menu, including cocktails. Since there aren't many places to grab an actual cocktail in Laveen, this makes them a great adult dining option. However, they are family friendly as well, so don't be afraid to bring the littles. Ja has a good selection of appetizers, which are already reasonably priced. However, you can save a few bucks with happy hour pricing until 6 PM (weekdays I believe). I tried their chicken karaage for the first time, which was absolutely delicious. They dust it with matcha powder and serve it with spicy mayo. Yum! I ate this as my entree and it's really two full meals. Add white rice and it could be more like three meals. My daughter and I shared fried gyoza, which were yummy, and she opted for miso ramen with pork belly. The ramen is also easily two meals, unless you're really hungry. The service here is pretty solid. I did notice during this particular visit that it took a long time to get my final bill and check out, but to their credit, it was a busy night. Overall, I was happy with the way we were treated during our visit. Thanks, Ja staff.

Deeeeeeelicious! Went today with my boyfriend and we loved it! We got the squid salad as an app, and the curry ramen and tonkatsu ramen! Both were delicious, perfect egg! It was busy when we went and service was helpful and nice! The restaurant is so cute!! Perfect for a bowl of ramen before Christmas. Prices were great! I think this may be our new fav ramen joint. I think from 2-5 or something it's $2 off apps, and while we did order an appetizer when we got the bill it was regular price. Our bad for not speaking up, but we also didn't really care. The food was good, and we were okay with paying for tasty food. We will be back!

Shockingly found an amazing Ramen shop in Laveen. We were seated right away and the staff greeted us all. They were all so kind and helpful. I saw lots of great reviews for Ja Ramen so on one of my last nights in Arizona, we decided to try them out. I've been 3rd degree burned before by Asian restaurants in Arizona so this was a gamble for me. I went with the classic Tonkatsu to test the bar. They also have seafood and chicken ramen. Plus vegetarian and vegan options. Let alone a seperate page for Japanese Curry. What we loved is that they have a "naked ramen" which is just noodles and broth for a reasonable price. Then you can add whatever you wanted. It seemed very popular with the kids around us. We have only one good ramen shop in Colorado, which we frequent. Ja Ramen is a legit co-winner in our books. Savory, packed with ingredients and flavor. The tonkatsu pork was thick, buttery, and delicate. Their chili oil packs a kick. And again the service is amazing. Don't miss out! I'm keeping the on the list for when we return.

Let me start off by saying the food was tasty We walked in at 130. The music was loud and not the type of music I want to hear during lunch. One of the songs was Don't You Wish Your Girlfriend was Hot Like Me. WhileI like that type of music, again it's not something I want to hear while I'm eating my lunch.. An employee came to ask us what we would like to drink. I asked if he had Diet Coke and when he looked, he said we're out of Diet Coke. Then we both asked for unsweetened iced tea. When he brought it to us, we realized it was green tea. I had to ask if they had some type of other tea, perhaps Lipton ice tea. She did so she brought us what we wanted. BTW - the tea was out of a bottle. I asked for fake sugar. She brought me real sugar when I asked for fake sugar, again, she said she didn't know if they had fake sugar. She went to go check. She came back and said that her manager said all they had was honey.. She then brought us our appetizers, but no plates. I had to ask for plate plates. We got our food, it was hot and it was good. Lastly, she brought the box out so I could pay and she added that they could not accept tips electronically, only by cash. Unfortunately, for her, I did not have any cash. She said that was OK. Would I come here again? Probably not.

ONE OF LAVEENS FINEST! This is one of my favorite Laveen restaurants! A small, cute, and aesthetically pleasing designed restaurant with delicious food and drinks. They have really good happy hour deals, so definitely come during the week. I've had good service every time I've been here. Even when I had some party members running late, a kind server would come over right away to get their drink order as soon as they came in. I've tried about half of their appetizers and they were all good! I don't even live in Arizona anymore, but when I visit I stay with family near Laveen and always hit this place up with friends or family!

I've been here a dozen times and I've always been happy. Food is great quality staff is attentive. P.S. Don't tell anybody cause I don't wanna lose my seat at the bar

Shrimp tempura udon ramen and chicken curry.

Our first time here and we were not sure what to expect, it smelled amazing when we walked in the door. The decor is so pretty and makes you feel like you enter a different world. We really enjoyed the food it was very flavorful and before this I used to not like ramen ! We got 1 order to the tempura udon noodles, 1 order of gyoza and 1 order of chicken curry for $40, which is not bad at all ! The service was quick and friendly, we will be returning and trying other menu items !

Tonkotsu ramen (no bean sprouts), and takoyaki in background.

King C.

Good quality everything. Very enjoyable food, and the staff are the best, genuinely nice. Food is good, staff is great.

Super fun place if you like Ramen. It's a little pricey, but the atmosphere is amazing! The food is good and the service is awesome. It must try if you like Ramen.

Spicy tonkotsu (sub pork for chicken) extra chili oil.

A very nice spot for ramen. What you get: standard ramen styles and a few curry selections. Drinks are available. Nice ambience. Music could have been dialed back a notch, but that's it for any negative. Don't come here expecting a full on Japanese restaurant. It's ramen. Just ramen. Very good ramen in my opinion. Best that I have had so far in Phoenix. There isn't much else to say other than it's really good ramen. read more

I have been to many ramen places across Phoenix-Metro and other cities out of state. I will admit that this place is quite tasty. However, I do not place them at the highest echelon or level of ramen in Phoenix. They are the appropriate price value for what are. The vibe was cool and the guest relaxed. The staff is awesome and welcoming. One day I'll go again. I would rank them in the 25th percentile overall for food. Service is about 15th percentile. read more

4th Time we ordered extra egg togo with our Ramen and did not get it even tho they charged us every time. My husband even asked this time to make sure the extra egg was in there and they said yes it was and once again no extra egg. Money just completely warted. It's not all their fault my husband got yelled at for not checking too. If it wasn't 110 outside we would go back and complain in person. Last few times noodles have been soggy and overcooked and fried Calamari no longer has that crunch it use to have. Shrimps is also overcooked. read more

we ordered shrimp tempura udon soup with extra noodle and was told the large party next to us ordered the last set. OK so we went with miso ramen. service took a long time, servers were friendly but kept messing up. they sent us the udon and we told them I thought you said it's for the next table that was the last one? They gave it to the next table. when bill came the server read the items instead of presenting me the bill and he said miso ramen so i paid. when i got the text receipt they charged me for the shrimp tepura udon soup price (which is more than miso ramen) plus the extra udon that we never got. Please request to see the full bill instead of letting server read it because that was totally shady. read more

The food was great, I like how they have it set up on the to go bowl. Your food is not just sitting in the broth it is laying on top of it so when you are ready to eat you can heat up if you need too. Then you can turn your food over and drop it into the broth. Chicken Katsu ramen was bomb! The reason I gave 4 stars is because I asked for certain things not to be on mine as well as my egg well cooked and none of what i requested was done. Nice look inside but small. The service was good and everyone was friendly. Was greet and was told they would be with me as well as how has my days been. read more

After waiting months and being so excited about having ramen in my area I took my mother to try out Ja Ramen. We were very disappointed. Here are the reasons. 1) The server didn't know the menu at all. I asked if there was beer available and she had to go ask. Red flag number 1. I also had to go to the front to ask for napkins. The server only took our order and NEVER RETURNED. Someone else from the kitchen delivered our "food". 2) I ordered a Squid salad as an appetizer. It was over $8 and was very small. If you're going to charge me over $8 for a salad I would expect there to be more than 5 bites. 3) When the ramen showed up it was also very small compared to all the other ramen places I've visited before. For $16 it better be a big bowl with a lot of noodles and meat. It wasn't. As you can see in the photos it came with noodles that weren't ramen noodles but something else and the ONE piece of meat was a disgusting hunk of half raw rubber. It had a strange color and I couldn't bring myself to even put it in my mouth. It made me want to gag. It was not edible. I wouldn't feed that nasty thing to my dog! Do not waste your time or money going to this place. It was disgusting and a complete waste of money. For two people was over $70 for a tiny salad, waters, one beer, and two small bowls of "ramen". Laveen has waited for years to get good restaurants and Ja Ramen has failed us. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

The interior was trendy, with wood floors and walls, industrial ceiling and top 40 music playing. I ordered the Spicy Tuna Tempura Roll, the Sunshine Roll and an iced tea. In all, it came to $28.72 plus tip. The tea was rather large, which was refreshing for today's restaurants. My lunch arrived in about 15 mins, mostly because a table for four sat down right before me and they were rather needy. The sunshine roll was different than any other sunshine roll I'd had. Their menu descriptions were rather minimal but I was expecting lemon and got masego (roe). It was okay but not what whetted my appetite The tuna roll was a vey pleasant surprise though. I assumed the shrimp tempura would be the only fried aspect but the entire roll was fried after assembly. Very good balance of savory to saucy, heat to cool and soft to crunchy. I'd order that roll again. I'll come back, next time I'm in the area.

The beef was a little more well done than I prefer, but everything was packed with flavor. Portions were generous, presentation was beautiful, and overall, the food was delicious. Most dishes averaged around $20, which felt very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. And a special shoutout to Keith - his service was fantastic throughout the entire meal! My recent visit to Ja Ramen in Laveen was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with a vibrant atmosphere, accentuated by 90's music videos playing on the walls--a nostalgic touch that added to the overall charm of the place. We started our meal with the Takoyaki, squid balls topped with takoyaki sauce, bonito flakes, green onion, and sesame seeds. Adding some chili oil elevated the dish to a whole new level. The flavor explosion and pleasing textures made for a delightful appetizer that set the tone for the rest of our dining experience. For the main course, I opted for the Tonkatsu Ramen, featuring pork belly, egg, bamboo shoots, sesame seeds, mushrooms, ginger, fried onion, dry seaweed, and green onions. When I tell you this broth was out of this world, I mean it! The flavors were incredibly rich and layered, making each spoonful a culinary delight. Every component of the dish was perfectly executed, earning it a well-deserved 10/10 in my book. The service was equally impressive. Our server was fantastic--extremely friendly and knowledgeable, she provided us with excellent recommendations that made our meal even more enjoyable. Ja Ramen has quickly become a new favorite spot, and I can't wait to return. If you're in Laveen and looking for an outstanding ramen experience, this is the place to be. Highly recommended! read more

I recently visited this ramen spot and was blown away by the experience. From the moment I walked in, the cozy ambiance and friendly staff set the tone for a great meal. The broth was rich and flavorful-clearly simmered to perfection-and the noodles had just the right bite. I tried the tonkotsu Ramen and the Shoyu Ramen and it was a knockout. Toppings were fresh, portions generous, and everything came out piping hot. For sure was a comfort food, this place delivers. Unfortunately, this visit was a bit of a mixed bag. The orange chicken and pork egg roll were the misses for me. Both lacked the flavor I was hoping for, and the orange chicken especially felt like it needed a little more seasoning and that sweet, tangy punch that makes it so craveable. The egg roll was also pretty underwhelming. The fried rice and egg drop soup were definitely the highlights! The fried rice had a nice savory flavor and paired well with the meal, while the egg drop soup was warm, comforting, and hit the spot. Overall, I appreciate the quick takeout service, but this particular order was a little hit-or-miss. From an Asian food perspective, I'd give it a 2/5 -- otherwise maybe closer to a 3/5 overall. Service was average, and the overall atmosphere felt more Hispanic-inspired than Japanese fusion. The mango margarita was actually great though -- definitely my favorite part of the experience. As for the food, nothing really stood out. The edamame was overly cooked and mushy. The chicken and shrimp fried rice was disappointing because the chicken tasted hard and chewy, almost feels like leftover chicken reheated. The calamari was okay, very bland, nothing special. The bathroom could also use some work, especially if the restaurant is aiming for a slightly more upscale environment. Overall, if you're coming for the fusion vibe and drinks, you may enjoy it. Although, I'd still probably go to another fusion restaurant with better quality food and better options. I personally wouldn't return, especially considering the price and food quality.
