Highly recommending J Sutton & Co. who handled our Ubox move this Friday. They were communicative, on time and worked fast. Their advice re: which location to confirm with Uhaul to avoid issues with Ubox pickup was heeded, hence a smooth delivery and packing. Be sure to have your own tools available for disassembly if you don't let them know in advance (I didn't but was able to borrow from our doorman). We pre-packed most items which also helped with the time. My only regret is wish I knew about them for our last move. read more

John and his team did a great job with our move. Communication ahead of time was very organized. The way they managed to park our trailer on a one-way street was astonishing. They were efficient and polite. I think it's impossible to do a move without dropping or scratching a couple of things, but I did feel like they were being careful with our belongings. read more

My assigned movers Chris and Drew arrived ahead of schedule. We walked through the building and went over the loading route required by the landlord and the other building restrictions. Then they got started immediately, a couple of minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Overall, their work was highly efficient. Both of them showed great experience in protecting furniture and properly loading a truck. They had the preloading and elevator staging practice down to a science. They followed all the building rules to the letter and were totally professional in every way. I observed them taking extra care with my items marked as fragile. In the face of supplies shortage (running out of tape at the end, for example), they effectively improvised and were not slowed down. A large one bedroom job was complete in 3-4 hours. Upon arrival the packing job proved secure and my most fragile items all remained intact. My considerable gratuity to them was fully justified. My only complaint, and it is really just nitpicking, is that initially Johnell was a bit difficult to contact. I emailed and left messages on the main number but only got my questions answered once I reached him on his mobile. However, I had my questions answered, Certificate of Insurance delivered, and time scheduled well within my comfort zone of a few weeks in advance, so this ended up being a trivial issue. Should I need moving labor in New York in the future, I will hire J Sutton again. read more

My fiancee and I were moving out of our apartment on Aug 31st. and our original movers decided not to show or answer their phones. This was supposed to start at 2pm. By 3:30 we were scrambling to find anyone who could help us. We called John from J Sutton and he walked us through the process of booking their company through movinghelp.com. He was really patient with us as I'm sure that we sounded frantic at that point. He told us that they could get us moved out that day. John sent his 2 guys to us to get our boxes down our 3rd floor walkup and into our lobby for staging, but U-Haul had given away our U-Box! It took them 3 hours to locate and clear out one for us. John was waiting at U-Haul and the guys were watching our belongings in the lobby for that time. They were the epitome of professional service. This is absolutely the most unprofessional and careless moving company that I have ever dealt with. When booking online, I was told that I would receive a call within 24 hours for a confirmation. 48hrs went by, and no call. I ended up calling them to confirm, and it sounded as if I was talking to someone on a cell phone who simply answered with a "hello". Needless to say, I was a bit skeptical at this point, but decided to proceed with their services anyway. On the day of the move, the movers were given the wrong time and showed up an hour early. This would normally be ok, except for the fact that we weren't ready for them yet and our 4-hour clock that they were booked for had started ticking. They moved all of our furniture in the parking lot before taking it into the truck. Our furniture was sitting out in the 95+ degree weather for hours. On top of that, they didn't even have the common sense to lay wooden furniture (i.e. headboard, dining table...) right side up on the pavement. They put them down however they carried them, so upside down, on it's side, etc. This caused almost every piece of our furniture to arrive at our new place in worse condition that it left. Top top it off, they charge $70/hr for overtime, and this dynamic pair of movers really took their time. It took 6hrs to move a 2 bedroom apartment 2 blocks away. They demand overtime payment in cash, and refuse to provide a receipt when asked. The movers have no transportation of their own, so if for some reason after reading this you still decide to use them, be prepared to drive them around. This move was nearly 4 weeks ago, and I'm still discovering damages that this moving company caused. P.S. This company when asked, stated that they are not insured. read more

I would give this moving company 10 stars if I could, they did a really fabulous job. Chris and Ray arrived right on time and unloaded our truck in only an hour. They went above and beyond our expectations and were very careful with every box, not a thing was broken. They made sure to check the labels on every item and put them in the right rooms, and even put our bed together for us. They were also both really nice and we appreciated their help so much. J Sutton was great coordinating with our building and sent the COI in a day, and their communication was excellent. Highly recommended!! read more

Sutton was as good as a moving company could possibly be. On time. No complaints about carrying heavy stuff up to a 4th floor walk up (no elevator). Worked fast and didn't even want breaks. Very careful with our things. Volunteered to go with me to drop off the UHaul truck and bring me back to the apartment. Great attitude; very professional and service-oriented.
