Absolutely the worst, DO NOT USE!!! I had to follow up multiple times after every email exchange and I didn't get any response for COI request after following up 3+ times. I ended up calling them and they put me on hold 3 times before telling me to call back again. They finally picked up and I told them I'm canceling due to poor customer service and the urgency of the COI request and the guy just brushed it off and hung up on me before I finished speaking. I would highly recommend not using their services. I booked my move with them weeks in advance and even confirmed with them via text the day prior and all was set and seemed fine. The day of my move comes and they're nowhere to be found at my scheduled time. I waited an hour after my scheduled move time before calling and no response. To this day I have yet to hear from them; not even an apology for not showing up for the move or answering the numerous messages that I left on their machine. DO NOT ENGAGE Macelo's Man With a Van!!!! They quoted a price of $250 (!) to move a single chair from downtown NYC to Queens. That price was discussed over the phone several times and confirmed. They requested a $100 deposit which was paid, so therefore, when the chair was delivered, $150 would be owed. HOWEVER, they demanded $281 when they arrived, with a requested $76 tip!!! They charged for "waiting time" and "extra waiting time" when no time frame of any kind was discussed and they waited for no one on either end. The additional $281 was paid for the chair, along with a 20 (not 76) dollar tip, so a single chair trafficked from Lower Manhattan to Astoria cost $400. THEY WERE/ARE COMPLETELY DISHONEST AND EXTORTING. read more

These guys were on point! Super friendly and quick to get the job done. I was moving my stuff to a new apt at the beginning of the month, and they were on time, even though by the sounds of it they were crazy booked-up that day. They gave me a window of arrival time and kept me posted during the day. These guys were great. Rates are completely reasonable and better than others I researched. I did not think they would be able to get all of my stuff into the van for one trip but they tetris'd the hell out of it and made it work. My brother also helped me move and hired them for his recent move after seeing their work. I've used them another time to move a TV and mount it for me. Again, efficient and the job was well done. Eugene even had his own tools (I was missing part of my drill, no problem, he had the missing piece). I would definitely recommend these guys. read more

I recently used That Man With a Van to help move my 1 Bedroom Apt( About 11 large boxes and several pieces of furniture). My call was very last minute so I was extremely grateful that Eugene and Skip could fit me in. They even showed up 10 minutes before our scheduled time! These guys were super efficient and were able to move me in just under 2 hours, all while still maintaining meticulous moving standards. What More could you ask for. This Man with a Van exceeded all of my expectations. As a New Yorker moving into my 4th apartment in less than 2 1/2 years, I am no stranger to men with vans. I am, however, a stranger to this particular man - after 3 hours of leading me on, he finally confessed that he's simply not coming. Besides that detail, his pricing exceeded my expectations- while his website says $75 an hour, he asked me what I was moving and quoted $175 (not bad, but not what he advertises). I am moving the furniture of a 1-bedroom one block over. This will not take more than 2 hours. He called at noon today (when he was due to arrive) to say he was 15 minutes late & to ask what I was moving. When I repeated it, he accused me of originally telling him I was moving fewer items. Like most New Yorkers, I do not have so much furniture that any piece might slip my mind. He said he'd quoted me for too low of an amount. I called again at 1pm, and he said he was stuck in traffic but would be there soon. No one answered my calls again until 3pm when a different man picked up and said the van was broken. I'm suspect they are out enjoying the beautiful day that I spent waiting in my apartment for their arrival. They said they could come tomorrow... I said something not to be repeated in a public forum. I'm posting my first Yelp review just in case karma doesn't do its job this time. Luckily, I don't work this Monday and I have one more day left this month to get out of my old apartment. Let's hope Rob the Movers are as great as they seem to be so far! read more

Don't be misled by the favorable reviews, Eugene's prompt emails and their willingness to negotiate. They bailed on a job for me this morning. I waited 45 minutes at 8 am on a Sunday (time slot THEY chose). I called 3 times and emailed and they only told me 45 minutes after my scheduled time that they weren't coming, claiming their van broke down. I understand that things happen (in the event it's actually not a hangover related fabricated excuse) but for them to not proactively call me is extremely unprofessional. Do not recommend. read more

I had no hesitations about booking these guys based on their reviews. They were responsive over email and got back to me quickly when I confirmed the day before my move. They were scheduled to come at 12pm. When I didn't hear from them by 1pm I called to find out their ETA. Skippy answered and told me that he was looking for my number (why wouldn't you have that?) and that he couldn't find his partner or their truck. He told me I should start looking for someone else...... So on the day of my move, at the end of the month, when my entire apt is packed up, I am left without movers. I tried multiple other companies but they were all booked for day of (obviously). I did get an email later that night saying that Eugene had a bike accident the night before. I realize things happen, but that doesn't explain the missing truck, or that I wasn't told about this the night before. The whole situation is unfortunate and their excuse doesn't explain a whole lot. Booking these guys is like going out on the street and asking random people to help you move. You might get lucky, but might end up sitting in a sea of boxes, have to tell the new tenant that they can't move in the next day and have to take off work when you hadn't planned on it. Moving day is not the time to take a gamble. For better odds, book College Educated Movers. They're professional, responsible and will actually show up. read more
