I do not normally right reviews but...... the drinks are strong and the hickory burger I had was amazing. A patty is a patty and bacon is bacon but the bun. The bun was different. The service is impeccable and that is without exaggeration and with consistency time after time. This was my first dining here. We walked in without a reservation, and they had no problem sweating us. Our server was excellent! He went through the specials, made some recommendation, he did not rush us to order and most of all he didn't forget about us. They started us with some rolls. They were soft and warm, served with a little bit of butter. Oh so good. Next we had calamari and avacado egg rolls. Both were very good. For dinner I had jambalaya, my wife had the kale and romain salad, my mother had the grilled skirt steak and my daughter had kids pennant with marinara sauce. My wife really enjoyed her salad, but said it would of been even better if it was all romaine lettuce. My daughter all but licked her plate clean. My mother steak, although I think it was a bit over priced for the size of the portion, she said it was incredibly good. As for the jambalaya, it was good, but it was more like chicken and shrimp with colored peppers in a spicy tomato sauce. read more

We are regulars here, and Danny (the manager) is fabulous. She is always on top of everything and is so sweet and is a tremendously hard worker. You'll often see her waiting on tables herself! We were hesitant to dine inside during covid because I have 2 elderly grandparents, but we didn't want to sit outside in the sweltering FL summer. We sat at our usual booth table at the bar, and our server Brandon was also the bartender. They have happy hour from 5-6pm every day, but they have $2 house wines and margaritas all day!!! The house cab is delicious, and they give you 2oz. The bread is always so warm and fresh and great, and we often order 2 for the table and 1 or 2 baskets to take home. The side house salads are HUGE and could serve as a full meal (the chopped salad even includes the chicken!), and for $8 you can add them to any meal. We split 2 chopped salads among 5 people. For mains, I always get the five cheese pasta; my dad and grandpa always get the chicken Parmesan (without white sauce- they serve it in a cream sauce but you can ask for just marinara like my dad does); and my mom and grandma always get the heavenly shrimp pasta. Tonight, they opted for different pasta dishes. My five cheese pasta was delicious, and I brought half of it home because it's a good size. My mom got the roasted chicken pasta which came in a brown cream sauce with goat cheese, broccoli, and pine nuts. I had a bite, and it was good. She liked it too. My grandma got the fettuccini Alfredo with grilled shrimp on top which was not on the menu (they can basically make you any pasta and meat dish). I had a bite, and it was VERY creamy....like I could taste the heavy cream in my small bite. Good, but rich! The chicken parm is always solid, and you can get it with any pasta you want. They place it on top of the pasta, so when it comes out, it looks like a pasta dish! With the $2 drinks, service, and food, you can't go wrong with J Marks. We drive here from Boca often, and we are happy to see them still busy through this pandemic. read more

I heard great things about this restaurant and my lunch today proved those people correct. I had a biz meeting with a friend so we decided to meet halfway between his office and mine. I was told that the steaks were great, but I had a late breakfast and was in the mood for a salad. The salmon salad was excellent. My biz partner had the salmon entree and he thought it was outstanding as well. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the Pompano area. I will definitely return. read more

I went here recently with friends. Food and service were both good. They have a nice menu with varied entrees. An appetizer might be enough if you are not a big eater. It's a good place to go with friends. I had 12 ounce prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes. It was the right size for me and I ate it all. I came here with family they live locally and when my Aunts in town this is where we normally go to eat. I was really surprised this time. The food and service was always so good, not this time. My aunt and mother ordered the snapper it was the " special of the day." and it was very dry, and tasteless, and really not good. My mom even asked the waitress if the fish was frozen. For $36 it should've been good. The service was terrible. Our waiter never came back to check on us to see if we needed anything more. We decided to skip dessert because we were very unhappy. Friends of ours had been in there 2 weeks prior and had the same bad experience. Prices are high, quality of food is totally lacking, and service was poor. I'm not sure what's going on with this restaurant. It used to be one of our favorites and really good not anymore. My aunt did speak to a manager, she was very young. She did offer us something else. By the time we got ahold of a manager, we already waited a long time for our food and we were too hungry and disenchanted to wait any longer for replacements. Always passed this place but I'm glad stopped by! Manager Dani was sooo sweet, she put me in section that was warm because outside was blocked off. Conner was very friendly n attentive made experience great. Good menu was big n loved the deals they have, coming back for the lava cake. My girlfriend & I dined here Thursday evening. It's a great spot as it it is close to where we live. Unfortunately it was a bad choice. We walked in at 8:08 with no reservation & there was a crowd in the entry. We decided to grab a drink @the bar as the wait was 15 minutes. Only one bartender so it took a while for the drinks. 6 booths in the bar area were open. After 20 minutes we mentioned this to the hostess & we were escorted to one. We ordered another drink & I watched them sitting on the bar getting warm so I went & brought them to our table. My friend was dreaming of the tuna burger but they were out of every form of tuna. I ordered the miso salmon medium. She punted for a chopped chicken salad. The salmon came out well done & the side green beans looked like limp spaghetti. Her salad was fine. The manager came over & apologized for the salmon & offered new beans, which promptly came out cooked as the previous order. I suspect the cause of all this was a short staff. Did I mention our server Stafford disappeared & Angela was his sub. She said he left but I saw him in another area of the restaurant. My meal was comped but I would have preferred a meal that I enjoyed. Will be awhile before I return, if at all. read more

Went in to settle a sweet tooth. We ordered the lava cake, and the Carrot cake. The waitress came back to let us know they were out of carrot cake. (Carrot cake is my favorite) You get your vegetables in while having something sweet of course! (Kidding kidding... wish it was that way lol) I was going to pass on dessert at that point. I was encouraged to try the Coconut cream cake. It was good. Sweet after a few bites, but good. The lava cake I was told was good too. I don't usually eat at chain restaurants as I find the food to be very salty/flavor enhanced. But J Marks was recommended by a friend. We had a reservation and we seated very quickly. We waited for over 15 minutes for a server-who apologized for the delay and gave us our appetizer on the house. The server (Adarm-sorry if I butchered your name) was attentive, courteous and professional. Appetizer-their version of bang bang shrimp-which was ok. I ordered the walnut honey chicken. Great portion, tasty-not salty. The hubster ordered orange chicken. Also a good portion size and nicely seasoned. UPDATE MAY 2023- FOOD - The ahi tuna, burger and prime rib sliders are all OK; I've had better but I'd still order any of them again. They used to put them on their special rolls, but then eliminated from happy hour single sliders. Now you get a too thick plain white bun even with the full order. The salmon dinners are always really good. There are two different kinds of Salmon and I prefer the Miso to the Scottish; you can get a lunch portion of the Scottish for only $22 vs $31 later in day. SERVICE- 5 STARS. Brandy and Lisa both are hustlers so you're not waiting too long. AMBIANCE/CLEAN- The place is generally pretty clean which is saying a lot these days.
