I wanted to try something yummy. I wanted something different. I love finding cool places that have their own uniqueness. Folks, this is the place. Tried the cucumber and tomatoes devil eggs, they were refreshing, different and delicious. The BLTC pita. Again. Delicious. I especially liked that the tables were lined with paper that you could color on. There is a wall of fame that, if lucky enough, yours may be posted for others to see! Such a neat and friendly place. You may also bring your fur friend too, there is a patio out back. A special treat is available on the menu for them as well. I will certainly visit again. read more

We ordered a lovely lettuce wrapped burger (definitely worth it and the ingredients maintain a comfort food feel in spite of the greener packaging) and the Texan sandwich. Both were delicious and the chowder was an outstanding side rounding out the whole meal. Kombucha on tap was a great addition to my burger. read more

While driving around waiting to leave for the airport we found this gem. Ordered the clam chowder to share & the chicken sandwich with fries. Both were excellent!!! My husband told the owner that if we lived here, this place would be a regular go to. Service was great. Ambience casual. Don't have pics, but trust me it was by far one of the best places to eat in downtown Bend. read more

Our family was finishing up a scavenger hunt in Bend (if you end up on a spontaneous trip and wondering what to do, scavenger hunts are the way to go!) and lunch hunger came calling. Next step Yelp search for outdoor seating and kid friendly, and J Dub became the next plan. This restaurant hit the spot for us. The ambience was nice, with a bar and well-shaded patio at the very back. The food was delicious. Our 11 yr old highly recommends the cheese curds snack, and my husband and I split a delicious and HUGE serving of the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. We were impressed with the very reasonable pricing for kids menu items (less than the cost of many fast food menus these days, and great portion size). Our server was friendly and attentive, helping us to make it a quicker kind of meal before heading home. The next time we venture to Bend Oregon (with family or for a friends getaway) we'll definitely be back. read more

Based on yelp review of highly rated places in bend we choose j dub. First impression came from the staff that made it very clear that they enjoy working there and were glad we were there our waitress highlighted the dishes they were known for. I ordered a Ruben on rye with sweet potato fries. The potatoes ended up being mini tater tots that were really good especially when adding their specialty sauces. The Ruben was flavorful the meat being tender and not stringy. Could have been a little more generous with the amount for the price. In addition we ordered their devil eggs and very much enjoyed them with a dab of their amazing house made sauce. Our meal was topped of with fish tacos that also were well prepared. Went to check out their bar area and they have state lottery video games. The bar tender cashes out your ticket. Actually bet 2 dollars on video poker and won $5.50. The building is of historic value as it was the twins feed store. The doors where they loaded the bales was still there. There is a reason they supply a lot of napkins read more

Came here for lunch and was really impressed. This place deserves a 5/5 stars just for the service. I wish I could remember the name of the server who served us. Really attentive and charismatic. We didn't have to ask for much because she was observant and saw what we need before having to be asked. The food was so good. The clam chowder was probably up there with the best I have had. I also had the soft shell crab sandwich. It was soooo good! I wish this was a chain so I don't just have the pleasure of eating here while visiting Bend! read more

Ate here two days in a row and absolutely loved it. Clam chowder is literally one of the best chowders I've ever had. The Philly cheesesteak was equally as great! The bartender Todd is probably the best bartender I've ever had. Super nice, social and great sense of humor. I'll be back here to eat next time I'm in town. Came for my birthday dinner after reading reviews and we were not disappointed. Our server Samantha was attentive and very friendly. All the staff we encountered were cool. My dog got her first meal in a restaurant, I got my lobster roll, and all was good in the world. The fried pickles were great but filled me up so I couldn't enjoy my fries in the amazing fry sauce as much as I wanted. I'd come again for sure. My husband has been trying to get me to eat here forever, but I was hesitant because it's restaurant and bar. How can that be good, right? WRONG! It was so delicious. Not a bar atmosphere at all. The bar is in the back and restaurant in the front. I had the Reuben and it was hands down the best Reuben in Bend! The spicy house made 1,000 island is to die for! Crazy busy and short staffed--- BUT they not only make the best of it, they made us feel welcomed and powered through it. Great service, GREAT American traditional brunch with a cool twist. The mimosa was absolutely on point- a splash of OJ. I had the doughnut burger.... Delish! Not too sticky sweet, just enough sweet with savory bacon, meat and cheese. The runny egg on top was a perfect touch. My friend had the Mr. October... holy smokes their gravy is FINE! Customer service, food quality, presentation and downhome vibe. Needs to be more people and places like JDubs. We are all in this together and they are doing it right! Shout out to John the bartender--- what an exceptional personality. A cute spot with great food! The food was delicious and our waitresses were very nice. We sat in the back patio area and it was cute, plenty of umbrellas for shade, adjacent to the bar area. The servings were a good portion (including the massive side salad!). The vegetarian options are a little lacking but there are definitely options :) My only real complaint is that the bathroom is a singular room; had to wait quite a while to use it! read more

A sad yet true and honest review. As a local, JDub's food was amazing. Even featured years ago in magazines. Over the past year almost, food has done a 180 in negative way. Below average now and sometimes awful. And we have tried to give chance after chance. Fish and Chips, way overdone. Burgers such as Blue and Wisconsin, tasteless with thin burgers thrown together. Deviled eggs, runny from sitting too long. And this morning the biscuits and gravy + mr. October, looks nothing like pictures online now, thrown together with basically no gravy, bacon was so overdone it was taken off, eggs came wrong. So we gave you 10+ times as a local to hopefully fix to what you use to be, but for what you get now...the dive across the street produces better food. It's sad as this places food use to be great and a local favorite. Guess the owner must not care anymore as it's been almost a year now. If you're visiting, don't listen to the good reviews. And if you think you'll try it anyways, it's your disappointment. But another group of locals now no longer will come. read more

Walking around downtown and stumbled upon this bar/restaurant for lunch. Bloody Mary's were amazing !! We ordered beer battered mushrooms that were outstanding. Burgers were just OK. We were expecting a little more of a wow factor in that department since they were grass fed cows. Oh well. Would pass on this restaurant next time around. read more

After continuing to revisit their website and Yelp page, we decided to go to JDub today. SO GLAD WE DID! This place is bomb! Super friendly staff and amazing food. We got the deviled egg special (fried chicken, Cajun bbq sauce and cheddar cheese) and split the blue cheese burger and tots. Their drinks were strong but so delicious! Best sweet potato tots and onion rings! They know how to fry things perfectly here. We came for dinner and got the fish tacos, a burger, and the fish and chips. I am torn on my review. I am giving 5 stars as we love this place, the food is great. The service depends on who you get. We always sit in the bar and most of the servers are excellent. Though, there is one that struggles. He is kind but so slow. His ability to multitask and focus on the customers is lacking. He will spend more time cleaning the bar while the customers wait to be approached or served. Many get tired of waiting and just go to the bar to get service. I believe I heard him say he is now the bar manager, which is concerning based on the service he provides. I would give him 1 or 2 stars for a review...It deters us from coming on days he is working. Our time there can be increased by 30+ minutes due to his service. I know the industry has been struggling but I will say the other servers don't have the same issues. read more

Walking into San Simón felt like stepping into some funky speakeasy hidden in plain sight. Dark lighting, moody atmosphere, David Bowie playing in the background, wild artwork on the walls that makes you stop and stare for a second. Just a great vibe all around. The kind of place where you sit down and immediately relax into the evening. The cocktails were excellent. Not overdone, not syrupy, just really balanced and well made. One of our favorites was the "Some Positive Feedback," which came with this sugar rim that looked awesome and added just enough sweetness without overpowering the drink. Bright citrus flavor, refreshing, smooth, and dangerously easy to drink. Then we asked the bartender if they could just make us something off the cuff. We said vodka, lemon and lime forward, not too sweet, maybe a little spice. They absolutely nailed it. Crisp, refreshing, layered citrus flavor with just enough heat on the back end to keep it interesting. Honestly one of those cocktails where everybody at the table takes a sip and immediately goes, "Oh wow." As a bourbon guy, I was also pleasantly surprised with the whiskey selection. The bartender recommended Stafford's Reserve, an Oregon bourbon, and I am glad I listened. Smooth, approachable, a little sweet up front with some spice on the finish. Easy sipping bourbon that fit the whole vibe of the place perfectly. What really made the night though was the staff. Everybody was friendly in that genuine way where you feel welcomed instead of "served." By the end of the night it honestly felt like we had been there before, even though it was our first visit. The outdoor setup deserves some love too. Bend cooled down at night, but the fire pits and heaters kept everything comfortable. We could have easily stayed another couple hours just hanging out. Pricing felt fair for the quality of drinks and atmosphere. This is not a dive bar pretending to be fancy. It is a genuinely cool cocktail spot that knows exactly what it is. If you are in Bend and enjoy craft cocktails, bourbon, cool music, quirky atmosphere, and places with personality, go find San Simón. Half the fun is finding it tucked down the alley in the first place.

We have been going to J Dub for several years. They made our Thanksgiving dinner for us during COVID. They Welcome our four legged friends during the summer on their patio with their tasty dog menu. And their breakfast (especially the Huevos Ranchero) are my absolute favorite. But yesterday you guys kicked it up a notch for me. We were dining there with my dad (who has a neurological disorder that has him struggling to walk -- especially in our cold snowy winters). And everyone there was so kind in helping us get him into the restaurant and out to our car. And they did it in a kind, calm (not pitying way ). I just wanted you all to know how much it meant to me and my family and we will continue to support you! Thank you for spreading cheer this season! read more

Honestly folks..... The pub food around Bend is great, but J Dub has the best cooks in town. The Donut Burger on weekends is one of a kind! I actually want one right now that I'm thinking about it. We also had some stuffed deviled eggs with cheese, bacon, and other heavenly things. Easily the best appetizer I've had in a long time. The service was personable, attentive, and all around fun! We sat in the bar area and Danny made our experience that much better. This is a GREAT new place and I hope to see it continue to thrive because the food, service, and atmosphere is awesome! First time here and not pleased. When we walked in and they gave us a table in the front. Everyone else that came in after us were asked inside, outside, or bar. We would have loved to sit outside but with this being our first and last time, that option was not given to us. Maybe it was our age and they figured we wouldn't want to sit outside and have a beer. Had fried pickles and they had no taste and the sauce was horrible. Why put dill in ranch? Next we had hamburger and fries, and chicken fingers and fries. Fries were very good (why I did give them a one star). Had a wonderful crunchiness to them. We love J Dub's. Service is awesome food is average. We get the deviled eggs almost every time. Sometimes we just go to the bar for snacks and drinks. Todd is such a great guy and clearly enjoys his job. Seems like the staff really enjoy working here too. At one visit about a year ago I was looking for something salty to go with my drink but didn't want fries...Todd improvised and had them fry some tortillas or something like that and created chips for me. Since then, they have revised their menu quite a bit and now chips and pico are on the menu. Yay. Now I'm waiting for dessert to be added. :) This is definitely one of our "go-to" spots in Bend. read more

Relaxing friendly atmosphere! Front area seating & to the back for the bar, and all the way to the patio area. I had the Glazed Doughnut Burger and upgraded fries to sweet potato; out of this world. The tots with the fries dressing, I couldn't get enough but ultimately almost couldn't finish everything. Great selection of locally crafted beer as well. I had the smoked beef brisket hash, because the special of the day they sold out. The smoked beef brisket hash was okay, I was expecting a smoked flavor, but didn't seem to have it. My wife had the soup & salad combo and she enjoyed the hardy soup with the flavor and the salad was a Caesar which was fresh and crispy and tasty. Our son in law enjoyed his tuna melt and Caesar salad very much and cleaned everything that was on his plate. Our daughter had the cheese fondue with bread chucks, but hardly touched it.
