My wife loves this place. We take our 15 month old and don't have to worry much if he gets a little fussy since the restaurant is not very quiet. The food is good - but I prefer a more "country" breakfast. If you like fish tacos for lunch or think think French toast can be made with banana bread - this is your place. But if you are like me and would eat an omelet for dinner - and believe breakfast is best prepared at Cracker Barrel - this place won't cut it for you. There isn't anything terrible about J Christopher's. But there also isn't anything great. Pretty standard breakfast/brunch menu, light on the lunch options. We both had omelets. BF got extra ingredients in his, which seemed to make a big difference. But on mine (Billy Goat: goat cheese, portobello mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes and spinach), they were super stingy with the fillings. It was more like a thin egg pancake folded over on itself with a taste of one of the other ingredients every 3 or 4 bites. Great place! My husband and I wanted a late brunch and so we found this place and walked in close to closing time- but they graciously seated us anyways. We had a skillet and a benedict, both were quite good. Not the best hollandaise sauce I've had, but a solid win on the eggs and bacon. The skillet was pretty good- the potatoes were well cooked as were the eggs and bacon. But there was a little too much peppers and onions in there, and a little too raw. Couldn't finish all of it. first, let me say, do not think that this 3-star rating is a bad thing. service was incredible and the food was good... on new years eve i developed a strong craving for eggs benedict...mainly hollandaise sauce-i could drink that stuff! anyhow, i informed my husband that we were going to find an awesome brunch place for the next morning. and using the nifty yelp site and search feature, j. christopher's came up for brunch. we ventured out around 10 new years day, and arrived to find the parking lot full, i guess everyone else developed cravings for hollandaise sauce and corned beef with potatoes. we ended up only waiting 20 minutes, not that bad, we pfft'd! at the people who came in, heard it was a 20 minute wait, and left (go on down the road to mc d's for breakfast then...). i thought i knew what i wanted: eggs benedict, but after looking at the menu, i was torn: do i order the eggs benedict, or do i order the route 66 skillet (corned beef, potatoes, and a sunny side up egg). oh, the first world problems of it all, i couldn't decide! luckily, my husband is pretty spectacular, so he ordered the route 66 and i ordered my eggs benedict (and he'd share with me). the serving size of the main dishes was pretty decent, and my eggs were poached perfectly--i love to see the liquid gold run all over my plate when i first cut into them! i did think the canadian bacon was a little over cooked and dry and tough. i also ordered a side of bacon (i always order sides of bacon...mmmmm, meat candy), and for 3.00, you'd think you'd get a plate full....nope, 3 slices, if my math is right, that's $1 a slice....were these royal pigs? my husband's corned beef skillet thing was pretty good, maybe i'll get that next time with a cup of hollandaise sauce to slather over it. the service was super friendly an quick, no errors in our meal, but it just wasn't incredible. we'd go back, but it wasn't the "happy, happy, joy, joy experience i dreamt about the night before. but do still go. don't be a 3-star snob (like i am most the time). read more

On our way out of Nashville my wife introduced me to J Christopher's. J Christopher's is a breakfast, brunch, and lunch joint nestled on the backside of a shopping complex. We greeted by a friendly, if not slightly chatty, host and sat immediately. I ordered the Bubba skillet which had biscuits, gravy, eggs, and potatoes, it was delicious. Just took my mom and 4 sons to the Franklin J.C. for a post holiday breakfast. Restaurant was almost empty at peak holiday brunch time. Not a good sign. After several minutes and brief eye contact with several staff members, one finally grabbed 6 menus and motioned us to follow her to a table. Once seated we were ignored for 10 minutes. No waters, no coffee, nothing. Finally I got up and went to the manager-looking person and asked if we could get coffees. He was shocked that we hadn't been served yet. He hastily came up and took our order but appeared confused the whole time and eager to question each person's choice, saying "are you sure?" Once we finally got our food it's as if the kitchen had it out for us. Every meal was just terrible. And the service continued to match the food. French toast with no syrup, an egg scramble with completely raw uncooked bits of spinach thrown in instead of sautéed, burnt raisin toast with no butter, oatmeal with a thick skin over it and no milk. My mom asked when her scrambled egg would arrive and again the waiter was confused, apologized, and came back with a cold egg on a plate, saying it was back there on the counter the whole time and he just didn't see it. My mom wanted to treat her grandson's to a nice breakfast and when she got the bill I just assumed we would have a discount from the long wait and poor food and service. But not so. I didn't feel like demanding anything as I just wanted it to be a pleasant outing for everyone. I do hate leaving negative reviews but the public needs to know. We will not return or recommend unfortunately. As a sole owner of a multi-million dollar corporation, I can say for certain, this is how small businesses eventually fail. We went to J. Christopher's on Presidents Day morning with the kids. We were quickly seated at around 9am on this Monday holiday. Staff was very courteous and attentive. The kids both had pancakes and Hot Choco. Wife had the Traditional and I had the Goddess. All was served quickly and hot. A decent cup of brewed coffee. Just witnessed the worst customer service I have seen in a long time from the manager at this location. While I know it is busy today, because it is Mother's Day, he had been holding 2 tables for a party of 12 and refused to sit 10 that were there because all 12 were not present yet, despite the party offering to order for the 2 who were running late. While one in their party did get a little upset and use an inappropriate word, the entire thing escalated because of the manager. Great place to eat! Really good, wholesome food. They also have really good coffee. Our waitress was great and gave excellent service. I used to eat at this restaurant in Tampa, but it changed names a few years back. I was so excited to be able to eat at another one on my trip to Tennessee that I had to come back the next day!
