So I wanted to place a carry out for a work lunch meeting with five people... I started to place the order online, but was unable to make certain modifications like add cheese to a French dip sandwich & sub salmon for chicken on a salad. There also is not a comment section. I called the restaurant and they don't take phone orders, just online and in-person. Super inconvenient but since I already had the orders, I placed it without the modifications. Everything was tasty. I even ordered a couple of sides to try, the orzo pasta and Mac & cheese. When I looked at the bill, I was quite surprised to see that I was charged $6.62 for carry out containers. So my total bill for three salads, two sides and a French dip sandwich came to $124. This seems high & when prices are already high at a premium restaurant, charging for carryout containers seems ridiculous.

Initially I came in here not knowing what I wanted then saw a pecan crusted fish as a special - and I was sold. They have an off the menu appetizer crab cake, which I thought came with fries but it was paired with a lemony arugula salad. Initially I was fussy - like a kid who was looking forward to French fries for lunch but then, started eating the salad, and it was just too good to stop eating lol. It was a perfect pairing and I'm thankful for the mishap after all. I got the pecan crusted trout and it was excellent. I told the waitress to kiss the chef that seasoned that fish. Coleslaw was good. Very well done dish. And for dessert - I had that Key Lime cheesecake with graham cracker crust. It was extravagant. I wanted to order another one to go but I'll have to be back soon :) I love the atmosphere here. Very comfy.

Excellent cuisine and top-notch service can be expected at both of our establishments in Troy and Livonia. A highly recommended destination for a delightful family dining experience.

I went here thinking it would be a high end dining experience. The only thing high end was the prices. The place was so loud it was hard to have a conversation. The crowd was another story. I would have thought that I was at a fast food location based on tank tops, short shorts, ball caps, etc. Service was mediocre at best. Although the steaks were perfectly cooked I thought the Mac and cheese was disgusting but our server never returned to the table for me to say anything until she brought the bill. $47 for NY Strip, even perfectly cooked doesn't justify that price. $41 for Prime Rib is still high. I will not return.

Five stars for the execution! J. Alexander's never misses when it comes to a solid steakhouse dinner. The steak was a 10/10--cooked to perfection and served remarkably fast. Great ambiance for a night out and the kitchen clearly knows what they're doing. Reliable, delicious, and great vibes.

I got the cheeseburger and fries. I added one more Patty for an additional $7 so it was almost a $30 meal. I was expecting a very good burger and it was average at best. There was not much taste to the patties and it was quite dense which is a good thing but not when it was dry like that. The fries were not crispy, were shoe string style. There was nothing fancy about the bun. It was a very ordinary burger that did not impress me. The ambiance when I went in was quite dark with low lighting. I can't speak to the service as I just had a pick up order.

I hate to say it I really do but J. Alexander's is underwhelming. We went a few days before Christmas. I was excited to have a nice meal after shopping. We had an okay meal. Everything was okay. If I were honest my money would be better spent at a good hole in the wall taco joint.

Don't forget the artichokes! We stopped in for a lunch post pedicures at Nordstrom spa and it was exactly what we wanted. My mother, sister and I shared the wood fired artichokes as an app, always delicious especially with the aioli. For lunch, we all got the steak sandwich on special, absolutely the right move. Love their shoestring fries as well. Finally we split the carrot cake for dessert. Never forget the carrot cake.

We started the night with the Calamari which was breaded with herbs and tasted delicious! The potatoes were so flavorful and the sauce on the side complimented the chicken very nicely. Our server Josh was amazing. He was so funny and charming, would 100% come back again!!

I ordered the BBQ Chicken Salad. The avocado was rock hard, the chicken tasted off, and there were visibly rotted pieces of lettuce mixed into the salad. I let our server know, and she agreed it "didn't look normal." She took it back and asked what I'd like instead. I ordered the Chicken Giardiniera. It didn't arrive until the rest of my party had already finished eating. I've had this dish here before, and this version wasn't anywhere near the quality I remembered. The server even brought me a to-go box without asking because, at that point, everyone else was done and ready to leave. When the bill came, the salad was removed, but I was charged full price for the replacement entrée--even though it was served so late that I barely had a chance to eat it. What was most disappointing wasn't the food itself, but how the situation was handled. There was no apology, no manager stopped by, and no effort to make things right. For the prices Cooper's Hawk charges, I'd expect much better food quality and customer service. Very disappointing experience, and after seeing the quality decline over multiple visits, I won't be returning.

We were quickly seated after stating our reservation time in a table that was well decorated with birthday paraphernalia. We got the Teriyaki salmon, Chilean sea bass, blackened snapper, mushrooms, calamari. While all are recommended, I think the Chilean sea bass was the best. It was a nice and well-cooked fillet that was adequately savory and fatty, but not overtly so. It paired well with a potato mash and broccolini. I would recommend it, and it was $60. The Teriyaki salmon was OK but was not amazing. It definitely was tender and had an Asian taste to it, but nothing that made it stand out for $55. The mushroom side dish was also a highlight. There were about three different types of mushrooms, and I think they use a sauce that was based in butter. It was delicious, and I would order again. The calamari was lightly fried in a sweet chili sauce, again with a hint of Asian zing to it. I quite enjoyed it, and I thought this dish was unique and worth it. Ambiance was grand, fancy, clean, dim, yet adequately lighted. Service was on point. However, we did search for our waitress a couple of times, and the meals did come out quite slowly. I would say about 20 to 25 minutes. So if you were to come here, be sure that you are not in a rush. Overall, high-end restaurant. Dollar sign is justified.

The food quality remains subpar relative to the premium pricing, with steaks frequently served overcooked. Beyond the poor execution in the kitchen, management's failure to enforce a basic dress code or standards of decorum significantly degrades the brand, reducing what should be an elevated fine-dining atmosphere to the feel of a casual Detroit sports bar. On my initial visit, a guest inside the dining room was permitted to wear a full sweatsuit, sunglasses, and a baseball cap. Upon leaving, I discovered discarded Hennessy liquor bottles left directly beside my vehicle's front bumper. Years later, on Mother's Day, the overall ambiance remained severely compromised. An adjacent table spent considerable time individually declining multiple credit cards for baked chicken dinners, while another patron seated directly at the bar wore sagging basketball shorts below his rear end leaving his exposed undergarments directly on the stool seating. By tolerating these conditions for so long, Ruth's Chris Troy has fundamentally undermined its own culture and standard of hospitality.
