Overall very good food and good service. My favorite is the banh mi bowl. Dishes are somewhat on the smaller size. Bar setup is decent but fairly small with a good selection of bourbons. Great patio area when the weather is warm.

5/5 stars for me! After a long day of wedding venue shopping and walking around in downtown Detroit, I was ABSOLUTELY STARVING (hangry as some people may say) and Firebird Tavern 1000% HIT THE SPOT! The Baked Cheese Dip was a great starter, and if you don't want to get too hungry before eating your meal, I would recommend just sharing one serving (we shared it between six people)! I had the Banh Mi Bowl (didn't get to take a photo because I was literally so hungry), and I would recommend it if you're looking for something on the lighter side, but want to feel full. Between the Tuscano and Garlic Chicken Pizza, I would choose the Garlic Chicken Pizza over the Tuscano every time (don't get me wrong though, the Tuscano was VERY delicious, but my taste buds just loved the taste of the Garlic Chicken Pizza!)!! The Tuscano was a bit salty for my taste, but both the crust and the quality of both pizzas was just *chefs kiss* TRY THEM BOTH!! My aunt was the one who ordered the Miso Glazed Salmon, and at first I was hesitant to try it, but it was so yummy! Just like the Banh Mi Bowl, it was filling, yet light which was what my aunt was going for. If you haven't tried Firebird Tavern yet, DO IT!!! The food was amazing, but the service was even better. You won't be disappointed!

The menu has some great selections. Tuesday special beer and a pizza! House salad with your choice of protein. Our waitress was attentive and very organized. Friendly greeting at the door and the entire staff was great. Met Tony and enjoyed the restaurant. Very clean and the atmosphere was very intimate and inviting. This was our first visit and won't be our last.

Walked in during lunchtime on a weekday to an almost empty sitting. The ambiance and the vibe is pretty cool. Our bartender/server was really attentive . She customized most of our drinks per our requests and the drinks turned out awesome. The only thing that didn't work for me was the food. The appetizers options were very few . We ordered the baked cheese dip and the wings which were both okay-ish, wings being sweeter than we expected.I found the garlic chicken pizza also to be a bit salty for my taste.

Miso glazed salmon. I highly recommend this dish.

What a delightful find. We were in Troy and looking for a place to eat after 8 p.m. Firebird is open until 10 p.m. on Sundays and we were just expecting bar food. Two of us had the miso glazed salmon and it was delicious. It was an excellent choice. The third person ordered steak tips and was also very impressed. The wine selection was limited but good. The service was friendly and efficient. There was also a very nice decor and we enjoyed sitting at a high top table. I will definitely go back if we are in the area again.

This is a cute tavern. It's not too big inside, but they also have outdoor seating. There are windows behind the bar that open to the outside seating area. They had them open today while we were there for lunch. We sat inside. The fresh air was nice, but a bit chilly. We both ordered pizza. It was delicious. I had a Caesar salad with it. The salad was a nice portion. Only complaint was too much dressing and the croutons were rock hard. The service was good. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. Would definitely stop there again if I find myself back in the area.

I don't think we could have had a better experience! The food was delicious, and the ambiance is so cozy. I love the TVs and the option of the outer chalet area! But what really did it was the service. It was top-notch! Leah and Ben were phenomenal and made the experience so much fun. I can't wait to come back.

My husband and I stopped in after we got out of work early and made it in time for happy hour/dinner. It was definitely as nice as the pictures. It was a nice upscale vibe but still casual. I start with the poutine fries, a nice shoestring French fry, the gravy had good flavor but it was more shredded cheese than cheese curds also the could've been a little hotter. My husband ordered a cup of the tomato basil soup. It creamy and had excellent flavor and tasted like it was made from scratch. It did take awhile for the pizza to come out so it would've been nice if our waitress had just mentioned it. Just something that would've been a nice touch. The pizza was very good though, a nice pillowy crust and very cheesy. It could've used a little extra artichoke and maybe a little red pepper flakes for a touch of spice. We really enjoyed everything and will be back to try more things because there is as a lot of great options on the menu.

Came here on Thursday, 5 days before Christmas with 10 neighbors for a get together. Service was surprisingly attentive and good, considering our waiter with long hair, not sure if his name, took very good care of us. The artichoke dip was very good, the pretzel was as expected and the poutine fries were very good as well. Had the corned beef sandwich with fries for dinner, it was more like a Reuben, good but I would have expected more meat for the price. The ambience was great. Nicely new updated interior, decorated for Christmas. They play a loud modern almost club music which is cool. They have trivia night which we talked about going back. Not sure how soon I'll be back with so many choices in the area, but would be good for a date night.

Enjoyed dinner at the new Troy location! Our server was awesome and did an excellent job at recommending menu items and drinks. She really knew her stuff! The menu is not huge but there is a very good variety. We started with the baked cheese dip, which was HOT, super garlicky and very cheesy; very good! Great texture and flavor, paired perfectly with that toasted bread. The Firebird chicken sandwich was great. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and not stringy or though. It always feels like a crap shoot with fried chicken, but this was a good cut. Flavors were well balanced with the sliced ham and delicate nutty Swiss cheese. A great take on chicken cordon bleu and highly recommended. The pizza was amazing. Very pillowy crust with a good bake on the bottom. It did lack crisp and was a little floppy, but delicious. Again, lots of garlic just like the cheese dip, but not overwhelming. Nice chunks of chicken and a good quality cheese. We'll be back again soon for dinner. A great spot!

The food menu is just as impressive. I'm certain anyone can find a favorite. I ordered the blackened chicken gnocchi and found myself in flavor heaven. I've made and eaten a lot of gnocchi and this is easily the best I've ever had. Mae agreed with me and suggested it's because there's cheese in those potato pillows. I dunno but I would eat this every day if I could. If I thought they'd keep, I'd buy extra and take some home. Meanwhile the bar crowd was friendly and chatty as we watched soccer on a few TVs. So impressed with all of their drinks they make in house. Came another time for dinner with a friend to catch up. A large group took over the dining room. Stayed way past they were done with their food and drink. They stayed 5 hours and disrupted the restaurant. Our waitress gave us a small discount for how annoying these people were. I went straight for the Cracker Jack Old Fashioned -- caramel-infused bourbon with actual Cracker Jacks. Sounds fun, tastes incredible. One of the more creative cocktails I've had in a long time. The drink selection here is extensive and the bartenders clearly know what they're doing. For dinner I had a medium rare steak cooked to perfection with potatoes -- classic done right. We were a sharing kind of table and took bites of several other dishes. Everything was fresh, well-executed, and satisfying. San Pellegrino flowing, great conversation, great food. Wow... what a BEAUTIFUL restaurant. At first glance, as I…read morearrived at valet, I was genuinely proud to see this Black-owned brick-and-mortar in person for the first time. Unfortunately, I did not anticipate that it would also be the last. The valet attendant was attentive and professional, and the host staff greeted me as I walked in. So far, so good! The bar wasn't busy, but I figured it was still kind of early and things could liven up. I was meeting friends for a birthday toast, and they were already seated at the bar. When I approached, we were very excited to see one another, so naturally, we took a moment to catch up. I noticed there was one bartender in the service well who was busy making drinks and therefore understandably unable to greet me. There was another bartender conversing with patrons standing next to my barstool and another bartender on the far end. Now, as someone with a background in food & beverage, I naturally exercise patience in casual dining atmospheres because service can be a little laxed--which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'm not expecting the bartender to teleport across the room because I walked in. However, in this case, after greeting my friends, we wanted to do a round of shots in honor of the birthday girl. After several minutes, we still had not been approached by a bartender. Not to mention, the bartender conversing just to my right was STILL carrying on with the same gentlemen patrons. After a continued wait, the birthday girl decided to flag down the bartender, who acknowledged us with eye contact... ...and then continued her conversation. Ma'am. That was very unprofessional, but we were in such great spirits that we decided to overlook it and try to get the attention of a different bartender. Now, hindsight being 20/20, we should've left right then. This same bartender, standing not even 3 feet away from us, eventually finished her conversation and walked away. She actually ended up standing at the service well in plain sight of us, where she then pulled out her cellphone to devote some obviously much-needed quality screen time. We were in utter shock. Within a few moments, the bartender originally on the far end of the bar had made her way to our side to take a new set of patrons' order who had just appeared to my right. Once again, the birthday girl calls out and asks if it would be possible for her to assist us when she was done. To our dismay, the lady looks at us with absolutely ZERO emotion and simply states, "Yea." Not exactly the response we expected, but hey... it's Detroit. We are natives, although I no longer live locally, so we know customer service isn't necessarily the city's strongest suit. ‍ After Ms. Dead Emotions prepared drinks for the new set of patrons, she followed suit with the previous bartender and walked over to the service well for some R&R with Screen Time Girl. And THAT was the moment we realized these bartenders did not come to work... They came to clock in. At this point, I decided to ask for a manager. The nice woman I approached asked me what it was regarding, and I explained what we had experienced and told her it was disappointing, to say the least. She seemed rational and understanding and offered to send a waitress to the bar to serve us. I thanked her and went back to my seat. It was obvious that the bartenders had been made aware of my grievances because their demeanors and facial expressions suddenly had a LOT to say. At that point, we realized training, support, and customer service may be an unrecognized area of opportunity by upper management. The server was busy with tables but eventually made her way over. She seemed very nice. However, by that point, we had decided we would leave. As we sat there conversing about this unbelievable experience and discussing other bars we could go to instead, a few patrons walked up to our side of the bar to introduce themselves and ask about our plans and whether we would stick around to have a drink with them. When we informed them we were leaving, they asked why. We gave them the short version as we prepared to leave. Sadly, they weren't surprised--but they offered AGAIN to make it right. Imagine customers offering to make it right. ‍ Just before leaving, one of our group stepped away to the restroom. At that point, Screen Time finally walked up and, exasperatedly, asked if we wanted anything. IKYFL. The birthday girl, who is sweet-natured, was understandably disappointed, so I decided, you know what? We'll take a shot for the road. A simple Don Julio Repo shot took longer than it should have... ...but the bill came IMMEDIATELY. And, of course, an automatic 20% gratuity was the cherry on top. At this point, all I could do was laugh. Beautiful restaurant. Great first impression. Unfortunately, the actual experience was a completely different story. WE WILL NOT BE BACK.
