Pretty good bar and small food grab restaurant. Stopped here for a quick bite and a drink. They have a really nice outdoor seating area that is definitely weather/temperature dependent. 5/5 stars for me! After a long day of wedding venue shopping and walking around in downtown Detroit, I was ABSOLUTELY STARVING (hangry as some people may say) and Firebird Tavern 1000% HIT THE SPOT! The Baked Cheese Dip was a great starter, and if you don't want to get too hungry before eating your meal, I would recommend just sharing one serving (we shared it between six people)! I had the Banh Mi Bowl (didn't get to take a photo because I was literally so hungry), and I would recommend it if you're looking for something on the lighter side, but want to feel full. Between the Tuscano and Garlic Chicken Pizza, I would choose the Garlic Chicken Pizza over the Tuscano every time (don't get me wrong though, the Tuscano was VERY delicious, but my taste buds just loved the taste of the Garlic Chicken Pizza!)!! The Tuscano was a bit salty for my taste, but both the crust and the quality of both pizzas was just *chefs kiss* TRY THEM BOTH!! My aunt was the one who ordered the Miso Glazed Salmon, and at first I was hesitant to try it, but it was so yummy! Solid food and great service. I went around Christmas-time and the restaurant was decorated super festively! The personal pizzas are a perfect size so you're not left too stuffed. I got a Caesar salad along with my meal, the chicken was really juicy but there was little to no dressing in the salad so it was pretty bland. Walked in during lunchtime on a weekday to an almost empty sitting. The ambiance and the vibe is pretty cool. Our bartender/server was really attentive . She customized most of our drinks per our requests and the drinks turned out awesome. The only thing that didn't work for me was the food. The appetizers options were very few . What a delightful find. We were in Troy and looking for a place to eat after 8 p.m. Firebird is open until 10 p.m. on Sundays and we were just expecting bar food. Two of us had the miso glazed salmon and it was delicious. It was an excellent choice. The third person ordered steak tips and was also very impressed. The wine selection was limited but good. The service was friendly and efficient. There was also a very nice decor and we enjoyed sitting at a high top table. I will definitely go back if we are in the area again. read more

This is a cute tavern. It's not too big inside, but they also have outdoor seating. There are windows behind the bar that open to the outside seating area. They had them open today while we were there for lunch. We sat inside. The fresh air was nice, but a bit chilly. We both ordered pizza. It was delicious. I had a Caesar salad with it. The salad was a nice portion. Only complaint was too much dressing and the croutons were rock hard. The service was good. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. This happened last year when going to watch preseason football. Food quality was alright, but the inconsistency in their service is what prompted the review. It went from decent, what you'd expect from a restaurant, to absolutely nonexistent. I don't know why we got ignored on the patio area. Straight up NO service. I had to go to the bar to put in an order more than once. It wasn't busy. There were not many patrons in the patio area, but there was definitely at least 3 staff members coming in and out. It did get busy later, but seriously, what is the excuse for not servicing us at all? It's hard to say they were alright once, so this is just a slip up and give them another chance. This area of Troy very much needed a cool hangout. Whoever took on the effort to convert this building did a spectacular job. The place had/has great potential but is falling short in a few respects. The menu is somewhat limited and disappointing, and lacks consistency. My favorite item on the menu is the steak frites. Occasionally it's outstanding, but more often than not the steak seems rewarmed instead of coming straight from the grill/pan and portion sizes are unpredictable. The indoor bar and outdoor patio is fun. The outdoor area is like sitting in someone's backyard with great ambiance. However, the setup of the tables inside feels like sitting in someone's unfinished basement or garage. The biggest downer in my opinion - lack of staff hospitality. More often than not it seems like they're more concerned about socializing with each other or practicing cocktail offerings than keeping the place clean, presentable, and tending to patrons. I have tried everything they have on the menu. First of all, that's just how good it is. I am one who loves to try new things and new places, yet I see myself coming back again and again. My husband and I stopped in after we got out of work early and made it in time for happy hour/dinner. It was definitely as nice as the pictures. It was a nice upscale vibe but still casual. I start with the poutine fries, a nice shoestring French fry, the gravy had good flavor but it was more shredded cheese than cheese curds also the could've been a little hotter. My husband ordered a cup of the tomato basil soup. It creamy and had excellent flavor and tasted like it was made from scratch. It did take awhile for the pizza to come out so it would've been nice if our waitress had just mentioned it. Just something that would've been a nice touch. The pizza was very good though, a nice pillowy crust and very cheesy. It could've used a little extra artichoke and maybe a little red pepper flakes for a touch of spice. Came here on Thursday, 5 days before Christmas with 10 neighbors for a get together. Service was surprisingly attentive and good, considering our waiter with long hair, not sure if his name, took very good care of us. The artichoke dip was very good, the pretzel was as expected and the poutine fries were very good as well. Had the corned beef sandwich with fries for dinner, it was more like a Reuben, good but I would have expected more meat for the price. The ambience was great. Nicely new updated interior, decorated for Christmas. They play a loud modern almost club music which is cool. They have trivia night which we talked about going back. Enjoyed dinner at the new Troy location! Our server was awesome and did an excellent job at recommending menu items and drinks. She really knew her stuff! The menu is not huge but there is a very good variety. We started with the baked cheese dip, which was HOT, super garlicky and very cheesy; very good! Great texture and flavor, paired perfectly with that toasted bread. The Firebird chicken sandwich was great. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and not stringy or though. It always feels like a crap shoot with fried chicken, but this was a good cut. Flavors were well balanced with the sliced ham and delicate nutty Swiss cheese. A great take on chicken cordon bleu and highly recommended. The pizza was amazing. Very pillowy crust with a good bake on the bottom. It did lack crisp and was a little floppy, but delicious. Again, lots of garlic just like the cheese dip, but not overwhelming. Nice chunks of chicken and a good quality cheese. We'll be back again soon for dinner. A great spot! read more

Arrived at 5:30 with a party of four. They had a rather large party that was consuming a lot of the restaurant. We were told it was going to be a 30-45 minute wait which we were willing to wait. We ended up getting seated much sooner as they shuffled some reserved tables around. Cocktails Vesper - this was gross. Tasted like drinking perfume Collins - This was good but not a strong pour. Barbie or Ken was wasn't chilled enough. As we added ice to it to chill it. Apps Poutine was ordered and it came out cold. We had to send it back. The refire came out visibly hot. Cheese app came out hot to start, the cheese was steaming. The bread was not evenly toasted nor was it evenly sliced. Mains Diner Burger - burger was on the small size. Five Guys is a better burger than this. Love the cut of the fries but they were not that plentiful and they had zero salt. Buffalo Chicken Wrap - this was more of a shredded chicken which was unique. Chicken pot pie - this was more of a chicken a La king. As it was a chicken stew into a puff pastry. Pizza - garlic chicken. This was ordered as they were out of the artichoke pizza. Surprised to see that when we walked in around 7pm on a Saturday that there was plenty of seating available. We were told there was a brand new cocktail menu so our group tried a few things. Unfortunately I don't think any of us particularly enjoyed them. I had the amaretto sour which was too sweet. The Paloma is pre mixed and had a metallic taste to it. Moving onto the food, we found everything to be good but very salty. For appetizers we had the poutine and baked cheese. We enjoyed both but nothing to write home about. I tried the fish tacos with a side of Mexican corn. It was pretty good but I've definitely had better. I liked seeing how the staff seemed to help each other out and not just stick to their own job. We had pretzel app, Firebird sandwich, and Mac and cheese. Pretzel was decent but cheese wasn't so great, and I think others in area have better pretzels. The Firebird sandwich was really good - well seasoned, crispy bun, etc. the Mac and cheese was good, nothing to get on excited over. I would go back. Only reason for the 4 stars was a few small things: 1) was disappointed they didn't have more vegetarian entrees as I could see some easy changes to their food to offer vegetarian version, 2) slightly disappointed with pretzel, 3) waitress was prompt at start but then disappeared mid-meal (though others stepped in to help). read more

We were headed somewhere else to watch the Lions game and passed by the Firebird Tavern. We had just been talking about trying it out so we decided to make a U turn and check it out. We loved the atmosphere! This used to be Sharkies BBQ. Rich wood and a very clean slate greeted us. They have a giant outdoor area as well. Too cold for me today but there was a guy sitting out there. There were only two TVs outside and two inside. We were able to sit right at the bar and had a great view. The bartender was fantastic! He was very laid back and very knowledgeable. We made friends with the rest of the people sitting at the bar (as we always do) and watched a nail biter. We then celebrated a Lions victory! Went there with three male friends. I loved my steak tips and Mediterranean Salad. Steak tips were more medium than medium rare I requested, but still tasty. The guys had poutine and pizzas and ended up ordering a second round of poutine. They loved every bite. Service was quick and friendly. The only issue was that the mixed drinks we ordered were either weak or not tasty. Two of my friends are bartenders and they switched to beer pretty quickly. We'd go back and stick to beer or wine. read more
