Came here for brunch on a Saturday and it wasn't that busy at all. It was a beautiful space inside and our server Dawn was the best!! The food was great - we split an omelette and the tiramisu French toast. That thing was decadent and delicious.

I was excited to try this new restaurant but ny experience was not good. The lobster dish that I ordered was raw. I will not be back.

There were a lot of spider webs on the outside of the windows due to being so close to the lake. If you don't like bugs, I don't recommend this venue! For the most part the staff was friendly but they did seem to be a little bit rushy a little bit before halfway through. They took my silverware before I was done eating without asking. The entrance is handicap accessible although there are no signs indicating that. I was trying to open the front door when suddenly they opened by themselves so I was caught off guard. It is a great venue for sights and pictures!

I was just interested in the historical marker and the building itself. Unfortunately, we did not have an opportunity to walk the grounds around the building to view the lake as a keen eye can see across to Canada from here. The marker reads, "Russell A. Alger, Jr., (1873-1930) son of Michigan's Governor Russell Alger, built this Italian Renaissance style mansion in 1910. Alger was one of the founders of the Packard Motor Car Company, Charles A. Platt of New York designed this elaborate structure, and Ellen Shipman of New York landscaped the grounds. The home, situated on Lake St. Clair, was referred to as "The Moorings." Alger lived here until his death in 1930. From 1936 to 1948, the house was used by the Detroit Institute of Arts as a branch museum. In 1949 it was deeded to the Grosse Pointe War Memorial Association in memory of those who served and died in our nation's wars and for facilitating the educational, cultural and civic needs of the community." It also mentions that it was erected in 1983 by the Michigan History Division. Russell A. Alger, Sr. was a Civil War general who served as the 20th Governor of Michigan from 1885 to 1887, US Senator and eventually, US Secretary of War under President William McKinley from 1897 to 1899. He was replaced during the Spanish-American War. The original home is still here and has had an auditorium added in 1962 and art wings added in 1977 and 1993. The original home building was donated by the Alger family to the Grosse Pointe War Memorial Association in 1949 and is an event venue. I'd like very much for someone to invite me to a wedding here! When reaching out to the new contact person... instead of soothing any fears I might have about my upcoming event, when I call it said hi DeAnn I was told you were my new contact person.... She cut me off and said NO I'm the one who got stuck with this after x ran off with your money now I let that slide and tried to move forward with a professional conversation and let me tell you, it was a complete headache! This lady would take days to respond to questions or flat-out never respond. She kept saying how she doesn't have to honor the contract because it wasn't signed with her I signed with the previous management. She sent me the rudest email about not ever touching her air-conditioning mind you, we didn't. On a 95° day She said air-conditioning wasn't included in my $25 an hour rehearsal sessions because if it was up to her I would have paid $175 an hour. Mind you whenever I've payed for an event space for a show as long as there is availability the rehearsal hours are little to no cost as bonus for renting the space. Never have I been quoted such a ridiculous price for rehearsal sessions. During the event the only time the staff made themselves available was to make their money off the cash bar there was no staff support during the event we had to ask for trash cans and was given 1! 1 trash can for a 200 guest event. No follow up after the show to see if I was satisfied. I wanted to make this space the QueensCourt Fashion Show home because the building is fabulous however CUSTOMER SERVICE IS KEY! I will never return

I appreciate Deann and her team for making sure we had a great time. I'm not sure why reviews say they are racist; everyone was very friendly to us. I'll be booking for another event very soon.

Pommes frites were nothing special but the garlic aioli was to die for. Stick with the mussels or other bar food. A little bummed to be charged 50 cents for a side of ranch and the menu prices on drinks were incorrect. Went to the bar to order, get refills, and we bussed our own plates. We went for the feather bowling which is fun and unique. Roll your cheese wheel and try to get close to the pigeon feather. The walls of the alley are concave so use them to bank your stone. Pretty good deal at $55 per hour. Free live music with Thornetta Davis was a great background to the evening.
