The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, we've specifically had great experiences specifically with Miranda, Graham and Jason the manager (we've only sat at the bar so far). In fairness, they're new and likely still working out the kinks. I will go back in a month and give them another chance and I'd love to amend my rating! We walked in and the hostess was on the phone taking a reservation. She indicated she'd be right with us. I kid you not, we waited almost 10 minutes before deciding we'd just go to the bar and seat ourselves. She never looked up. The saga continued at the bar. The bartender greeted us quickly and immediately asked us what we wanted to drink. We didn't know as it was our first time in and we wanted to check out the menu! He said he'd come right back. He did not. He went to the other side of the bar and mixed drinks for others that came in after us. Another bartender was there cutting fruit and mixing drinks, but he also ignored us-- even when we tried to catch his attention. After 15 minutes of this, my mother asked if I wanted to leave. I did and we went next door for a lovely and timely lunch. I can't comment on their food or drinks, as we had neither. But we will give them a try again in at some point and hope for better! read more

Upscale new contemporary Italian. Inside is very inviting with nice bar and seating area large enough to accommodate parties large and small. Service was very attentive and prompt. Unfortunately the food was mediocre. Ordered the Chicken Marsala which was over sweetened making the dish meh. My date ordered the Lobster Risotto which was listed on the menu as one of there speciality dishes. It was also just average. They used sun dried tomatoes in the dish that seemed ill advised as flavor did not add to the dish well. Overall, for the price paid would not recommend as there are better Italian restaurants in the area read more

We visited for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. When we walked in we were greeted and given 3 different options of where to sit. We chose a private booth by the bar, tucked in a corner. Highly recommended for a more private intimate dining experience. I got the Mia Mule which was amazing. The only downside was no bread, which you would expect when going to an Italian restaurant. We started with the calamari, house salads, veal piccata and 16 oz ribeye. Everything was amazing. They then brought us cannolis and a card for our anniversary signed by all the staff. I was blown away by this gesture! We will be back and recommending to everyone!! read more

I was excited to try this new restaurant but ny experience was not good. The lobster dish that I ordered was raw. I will not be back.

I had high hopes for an authentic Italian restaurant only to be disappointed, The interior reminded me of a cafeteria. No ambiance and loud. I had chicken piccata. I found the circular thin slices of chicken odd and lacking the flavor of a traditional chicken breast. The dried tomato added to the pasta is a poor substitute for fresh tomatoes. The salad that is included with the entree was bland. Five dollars for bread is ridiculous especially since the other Italian restaurants in GP do not charge. The emphasis here seems to be large portions that are short on quality. I suggest that management visit the other long term Italian restaurants in GP to get a better understanding of what they will need to offer to survive here. read more

I came in this week for lunch and was very impressed. The dining room and bar area are very cute, decorated well & clean. I sat at the bar and Perry was my bartender. He was very kind, recommend some food drinks and made them even better! The manager Lauryn came over and checked on me and she was so kind and made sure that my experience was great. Absolute shit. Just the latest awful restaurant in this space. Arrived early, sat promptly. Recognized the former staff of Pastaio (the newest mediocre Italian restaurant in Grosse Pointe). Curiously - what's with Grosse Pointe and mediocre Italian - Nini, Eduardo, Licavoli, Buccii, Scallopini, Pastaio? I guess Grosse Pointer's are afraid to head Downtown... or never had decent Italian. Twenty minutes, no water, no bread, no drink order. Order drinks and calamari appetizer. 15 minutes later, "hostess" asks if we'd like bread as she's noticed that we've been waiting for a while - "sure" we need food. "Oh, by the way, there is a $5 bread charge, it's not on the menu, as we don't want to encourage folks to fill up on bread and ruin their meal." Ha! Stay classy Grosse Pointe... The food - the risotto is oatmeal served with every meal. "Served with a side of risotto." It's oatmeal. Awful. The calamari appetizer wasn't fully cooked. We literally didn't eat it. The waiter said "sorry", offering nothing. The main dishes - nothing redeeming. Worse than Scallopini and Pastaio - and that's saying something. After they cleared our dinner plates... no offer of dessert menu. Just a check and a "thanks for joining us." Don't get your hopes up, and don't waste your money here. This isn't fine Italian dining. It's bad food, bad service. bad news. Looking forward to the next occupant. read more

Power outage forced us to go find food. We found Tavola Mia open and serving brunch; yet, invited us to anything we wanted which was great. They served us excellent calamari and Brussel sprouts to share. Both were perfect in their portion, came hot, and were obviously their own recipes. Someone in our party ordered the shrimp and grits and was very pleased. The atmosphere is lovely, the people are warm and engaging, listened well to allergy concerns and showed responsible concern. Will definitely return. Great to have a fine dining Italian restaurant nearby. read more

Staff was very nice but so slow. Took our drink and appetizer order but then walked by us (still holding our massive menus) for the next 30 minutes without taking our dinner order. Bread is charged. Calamari was rubbery and came with a plastic container (like we were at a fast food restaurant) of some disgusting sauce. Salads were bland and are also charged separately. Finally ordered and got meals and each one was bad. Bad flavor, not cooked enough, overcooked. Even the pizza was bad. We all left disappointed and nauseous. I want to try it again because I hope they get it together, but I will need to go with a friend because nobody in my family will go with me. read more

The only thing good to say about our experience was the bar staff. Graham and his bartending partner were on point and we commend them for their service. Food and atmosphere are 1 star. We had reservations and we were sat in the dining room. The lighting felt as if we were in an operating room of a hospital. We quickly moved to the bar where the lighting was much better, but the background music was little to be desired for this type of restaurant. Now for the food. The calamari was poorly battered and fried in old oil. Dark in color and breading falling off with every attempt to stab a piece with a fork to eat it. The mussels were very mealy. They had the texture of liver when chewing on them. Now for the Caesar salad. The romaine was crisp, the dressing creamy with anchovy filets dressed on top. I don't think there were any anchovy used in making of the dressing as the dressing was bland and lacked a little zip had it been infused with anchovy filets or dashed with a hint of Tabasco as true Italian restaurants that still do table side Caesar do. Our third guest had the steak bites and brussel sprouts. He enjoyed the sprouts, the steak bites were not very tender. Hopefully things will improve. We won't be making a return visit anytime soon, unfortunately. We wish Graham and his fellow bartender the best as they at least kept the evening from being a total loss. One last positive note, the Oregon Pinot Noir by the glass was very nice. read more

We have had several items on the menu and all were delicious, but I had to comment on the phenomenal presentation of chicken piccata. It was enough to share and it has now become a new favorite. Went in sat the bar. Bartender didn't acknowledge me sat for five minutes. Order a drink asked to order food I ordered the shrimp cocktail...waited and waited order the Caesar salad and scallops. The caeser salad arrived and the the scallops before I could've even bit in to the salad. The salad taste bland and the scallops came with risotto which was a runny mess. After I ate my second course and entrée. My app of shrimp cocktail finally came out. All the food was bland. It seem they were on shift change and the bartender cared more about his tip then service. Would not go back mediocre food and horrible service. read more
