We had a wonderful time at the brunch on Saturday. My beet and burrata salad with grilled chicken was wonderful and my husband loved his chicken Caesar. They also made accommodations for my seed oil allergy by cooking the chicken without any seed oils. The bartender Alicia went above and beyond by mixing up my own Dijon dressing with olive oil and lemon and no seed oil since I couldn't eat the premade dressing. Amazing service. The other night I really was considering going to Bill's in Bloomfield Hills again, but I made the trip to nearby Birmingham and did a drive-by at a few new spots I had seen on Yelp. After reading a few with mixed reviews , I decided to turn around and go back to Bill's. The restaurant and bar area were packed on a Tuesday around 6:30pm. I was lucky that a seat at the bar opened up as I arrived. Jane the bartender was extremely busy making several specialty cocktails and called a number of customers by name which was impressive. Eventually she took my order for a Dark Horse local beer on tap which was enjoyable. I reviewed the menu that was on the counter and I was eventually asked if I would like to order something to eat. I had to order my go to, Bill's burger, which is topped with arugula, gruyere cheese, and a Dijon aioli sauce that was exactly what I was yearning for when I decided I was going out for dinner. The burger is also served with a substantial order of fries and everything was well worth the wait and consistently delivered as with my prior experiences. Although I would say pack your patience as it seemed they were slightly short staffed, or just got slammed that night unexpectedly. The effort of the staff while working at a 150% pace and the friendliness to many customers made this an enjoyable evening and it was nice to chat with a few adjacently seated customers. I always find something new and interesting to look at while waiting that I haven't previously noticed, and on this occasion was a fox with a bow tie on the shelf that seemed to be looking at me which is a nod to the Fox & Hound which was previously on this site and damaged by a fire. I've had this place on my radar for many ears, but never managed to get here until now. It was a beautiful summer afternoon, so we sat outside for lunch. A lot of the food seemed kind of heavy so we split the risotto balls appetizer and each got a kale Caesar salad and French onion soup. Not the most adventurous choices, but everything we had was quite good. I'm glad we sat outside - the inside seemed kind of stuffy to me. First Visit to Bill's - Definitely Not the Last! Today was my first time at Bill's in Bloomfield Hills on Woodward, and I can't believe I've driven past it so many times without noticing it! It's tucked in the same building as Brewer's Bagels, Oswald's, and Chase Bank -- not sure how I missed it all this time. A buddy of mine and I were texting about grabbing food, and he suggested Bill's. He said, "You've got to try the Eggs Benedict, but get it on the James Beard hashbrowns instead of the English muffin." That was all I needed to hear. We sat up at the bar, and Alisha was our bartender -- she was absolutely fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and just on point the whole time. We ordered two entrées to split: the burger and fries, and the Eggs Benedict on hashbrowns. Both were phenomenal. The flavors, the presentation -- everything was spot on. We also had a few mimosas (which were perfectly balanced, by the way), and between the food, the drinks, and the atmosphere, the whole experience was top-notch. I ordered the Vegetable Scramble with Chicken Sausage. It came with an interesting mix of veggies you don't usually find in a typical veggie omelette. The dish was generally good though a few bites had an odd almost sour taste that threw me off. I asked whether the orange juice was fresh and I was told it was it's just not squeezed in-house. Supposedly it comes from a place that presses it for them. If they're really paying someone to deliver "fresh" juice they're not getting their money's worth because what I was served tasted exactly like carton OJ. Service was inconsistent some staff were warm while others felt noticeably cold. The restaurant itself is decorated in a very eclectic way with trinkets scattered throughout. I don't think I'll go back and I'm not sure I recommend this place to others. read more

We had an amazing first experience at Bills. First of all, they don't take reservations, but we were sat quickly on a weekday for dinner. It was busy, but not too busy with a lively bar. We loved the decor, it's very fun with a lot to look at, but with a dark moody vibe. I loved that all the design elements were cohesive, from the checkered tablecloths, wall decor, and even the bathrooms. We started with the lamb meatballs, truffle fries and calamari. As a calamari lover, this was a super win dish for them. It was surprisingly tender and we loved it! For entrees we got the NY strip, brick chicken, and the chicken parm which was on special. They are all very balanced, a meat, carb, and veggie. The star of the show was the NY strip plate, the steak was cooked perfectly, covered in peppercorns, and had really well cooked Brussels sprouts on the side. A group of 8 of us (7 adults, 1 toddler, 1 baby) were at Bill's for Mother's Day for a very late brunch. We arrived at 330, and brunch ended at 4. Our table had two waitresses and they let us know that we had to choose between brunch or dinner as a group. After some debate, we decided on dinner. I think everyone enjoyed their food. I had the meatballs which were tasty, but I feel like texture needed something more as everything in the plate had a soft texture. My husband enjoyed his burger but also felt all he could taste was truffle flavor which is delicious but I feel some variety is needed in a dish. The service was good, but I think we might have tested the patience of one of the waitresses trying to decide between the two menus, asking questions and having a pretty active toddler! read more

So delicious we were tempted to have more. But we continued to ( 2) truffled fries. Decadent and delicious. And (3) the lamb meatballs. Just wow. Appetizers lunch was delightful! Great food Great service Consistently good! The staff from the hostesses to the bussers are all on top of it. Sharon is usually our server and she is always nice. Even brought me out blackening spices to try for my swordfish since I wasn't sure if I wanted to order it that way as it's always perfection. Love the creative sides with the entrees. The bread is also delicious. Michelle the manager stopped by and she too, was very friendly and nice to talk with. Delicious as always. Get there early though because it is always.crowded. I love the kale Caesar and the crab cakes. We have yet to order something we haven't liked. A friend of ours at another table ordered the seafood dish in lobster broth. The only thing I would suggest is to bring a crusty piece of garlic bread on the side for dipping. That would really elevate the dish which he said was delicious! read more

I love Bill's. Part of it is because it's the old "Fox and Hound" and I'm nostalgic. But it's also just a great place. Food is excellent and so are the drinks. It's a small place and it's always busy, but somehow it doesn't feel crowded to me. My service has always been spot on and I love how the place is decorated (again, back to the nostalgia thing). First time at Bill's came here for our girlfriends Bday Brunch on Sunday. This place has an interesting almost mismatched decor between hunter house and a french boudoir. We set inside since the weather was not cooperating that day, they have a covered patio that looked great. On to the food it was delicious and the presentation was great. Had an avocado toast the eggs were slightly over cooked but no big deal, my girlfriends had split pea soup, lox Benedict and a frittata everyone were happy with their selections. Arriving by 5pm allows you to get a table usually. Starts to get busy around 6. Great selection of spirits available. Not a great spot for the younger people (children). We had four in our party with everyone trying something different. Portion sizes were good. I'm not a huge fan of the mixed vegetables and I was not able to substitute (reason for the 4 star rating). Service was good, not great. The bar area has a regular crowd. This area fills up earlier than the dining area. Older members of my family eat here often. I dine here on an average of once a month or so. Easy parking in the back of the restaurant. Enjoy! read more

Bill's is a family favorite for us already and an easy go to on a day where we can't decide what to eat! Today was our first time trying the brunch and it didn't disappoint. Our party of 6 was sat instantly and welcomed by friendly staff. I had the Bill's Bellini and Avocado Toast with salmon, the toast was a bit soggy but overall delicious. We had a wide variety of orders from the Bill's Breakfast, Eggs Benedict, French Toast, and the special Peach Baked Pancake with nothing but compliments! Even tried a bite of the Peach Baked Pancake, it was a large portion but to die for! The staff was more than accommodating and we didn't feel rushed at all, we even ended up staying a good amount of time afterwards chatting. With some time for a quick coffee! Our go to date night place! Consistently great food, amazing cocktails and I just love their bread basket. I love their lamb ragu and my husband has enjoyed everything on the menu at least once. It's packed here for a Saturday night, we arrived around 6:50pm or so, was told by Brittany it would be about a half hour wait. It's 7:20pm, still have 4 groups ahead of us. We sat down around 45 minutes, so note to self, add about 15 to Brittany's estimate. The interior of this restaurant reminds me a lot of the Tom's oyster bar chains with a mix of Rustic cabins in GPP with the animal mounts on the walls. I like all of the random pics covering much of the wall space. Nice royal blue color wall and accent drapes. Cool railroad ties framing the ceiling. The large brass chandelier gives it a classy feel too. Our waitress, Lauren seems nice, diligent and attentive. Doesn't look like they have the mushrooms stuffed with escargot, scallops or frog legs either. 3 for 3 things I wanted they no longer carry here. Bummer. Was it seasonal, waitress told us they got rid of the mushroom stuffed with escargot years ago. Settled for the char grilled octopus, brick chicken, house salad and traditional Niçoise salad. Odd that we weren't offered any bread and we at least ordered one full entree, I do get my $20 salad doesn't count. Other tables were given bread, but why not us? Is it because I asked for no croutons or bread on my salad, that might be so, but my hubby still eats gluten. The bread did end up coming until after our entrees arrived, strange since it came with the soups at the table next to us. Bread comes on different schedules it seems. Or you should ask for it earlier. The octopus was nicely charred, well cooked, tender and tasted good. The goat cheese and arugula salad with the octopus salad was yummy, along with the artichoke. The side salad was good, dressing was light and sweetened. Enjoyed the blue cheese crumbles on the salad. Yes, I ordered a starter for my salad and a salad for my entree since they didn't have 3 items I was craving from the yelp pics on here. The brick chicken was perfectly cooked, tender. The Niçoise salad wasn't bad, nice dressing. I wasn't super excited about it and it wasn't outstanding as far as overall taste, but everything was perfectly cooked. My first time at this place, attending a birthday brunch. The place looks like a mix of hunting lounge and an estate library. I wish it was warm enough to sit outside as they have a covered outdoor space with a huge beautiful chandelier. Everyone's food looked delicious and I definitely want to come back to try other dishes. The only complaint I have is that an egg on my Egg Benedicts and on my friend's avacado toast was just a bit overcooked and not as runny as the dishes call for. Also, I substituted ham on Egg Benedict for lox - and loved how the dish came out. My other friend had egg fritatta and it looked amazing (& so I hear is the taste) - so it's on my list for next time. We ordered dessert for the birthday girl and they brought out this large pancake with lots of fruits and cream on top. It was really good and big enough for 7 girls to have a small slice.
