Field Berry Salad with grilled chicken

Needed a late lunch while in the area. I wanted a cup of soup and to relax a few before on to the next adventure. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated in the bar at a booth. Very comfy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Good menu with a lot to offer. My order was small but the soup was hearty and thick. The chicken had the protein I needed. All and all a great visit for lunch. Service was the bartender and she lost track once in awhile but fine enough.

First time having the buffet here - for $25, it's actually not bad. My recommendation If you want a decent omelette with unlimited bacon with a tasty churro for dessert - this place is great! For the other items (ribs, chicken, mac and cheese, shrimp and grits, biscuits and gravy, hash browns), it's just very basic and bland. The good: - omelettes very good (8 ingredients you can select plus cheese). No jalapeño or salsa though - limited fruit but strawberries were very fresh - churros are crisp/crunchy - very good but also have a cream filling - bacon - thickish and well cooked (not oily or soggy) Not so good: - Drinks are extra (coffee, juice) - 2 burners at the omelette station but only 1 person and they only cook one at a time - Savory items like ribs and chicken lack flavor - Sat in bar area and the service is very slow and unattentive - potatoe wedges - not crisp, meh

First time here. The service is great. We came a as group with my church. The food prices are reasonable.

My favorite local happy hour. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Huge menu, large bar with plenty of seating and the staff is great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bartender was super helpful picking out glasses of wine and the food came out fast but didn't sacrifice flavor. The burrata and wings are a must, but the menu is big and you'll probably need to come back a few times.

I'm actually kind of surprised I had never reviewed this place until now. We thought it was pretty average the first time we dined here many years ago, so now we go back every few years thinking something is going to change, but it never really does. It has a huge menu with a wide variety of options. The whipped feta appetizer was new, so we gave it a shot and it was quite good. My side caesar was also good. For my entree I had the Maryland salmon. The sauce and crab were good, but the salmon itself was pretty dried out. My wife had a salad with salmon on top and had a similar experience. On the positive side, our server was very friendly and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, they have a large quantity and nice variety of outdoor seating options, which is the primary reason we visited.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, it's not a bad spot...it's just nothing memorable.

We had a wonderful first experience at Grand Tavern! Although the service was a bit slow and inattentive, we really enjoyed the food and menu!! We both got burgers with fries (the regular fries were just okay, but the sweet potato fries were wonderful!!) We indulged in the vanilla bean cheesecake and carrot cake for dessert. Both were delicious! It was pretty busy when we came, due to the Sunday brunch. Still, we were seated quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean and like any average tavern![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This was a great dining experience at Grand Tavern - Troy! Jesse was an excellent waiter, who provided us with great service and a peaceful vibe. The food was delicious too. We started with the spinach artichoke dip. I love that the saucers were already on the table with our cloth napkins and silverware. I decided on the cedar plank salmon, a side salad, fresh vegetables and rice. One family member had the special cut New York strip with colossal shrimp and Yukon gold mashed potatoes and the other had the chicken pesto pasta farfalle with the soup of the day. The food was delicious except the potatoes were a little salty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This location has two party rooms and both were occupied. It appeared one was a corporate affair and the other was a birthday celebration.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have a patio with outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also have brunch on the weekends. You might want to check them out!

    Brunch and mimosas

A friend treated me to brunch here for my birthday. It stands alone in a strip mall off of Coolidge just south of Maple with plenty of parking. Brunch was buffet style with many selections. Cheesy hash browns, shrimp and grits, salmon, prime rib, omelette station, fruit, and more. We had mimosas served in a tall slim glass. The server was pleasant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was very casual.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I enjoyed my experience enough to go back.

This is the first time that we came to a Grand Tavern. We didn't know they had a Brunch Buffet either. We were going to order off the regular menu however, price wise it made more sense to go ahead and get the buffet. It was a large buffet with fresh fruits, salads, shrimp, salmon, prime rib, omelet station, waffles and crepe station, 3 kinds of potatoes, mac n cheese, BBQ chicken and ribs, bacon, sausages, pancakes, french sticks, churros, cookies and sweets! A large variety of foods for $23.99. So much to choose from really. I personally did not care for the blueberry crepe. It was very large and bland. The blueberries were canned and also bland. The service was great! The waitress was quick, kind and pleasant. The one kind of potatoes were over seasoned. The mac n cheese was a cheesy delight. I enjoyed the prime rib and ribs, but thought the shrimp was on the rubbery side. I am glad we tried the buffet and would try another Grand Tavern. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dishes didn't seem clean enough really. I turned in my first set of silverware because they looked dirty. The second set wasn't much better. The plates at the buffet looked cloudy as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was very busy and loud which I would not recommend if you want to talk privately to someone[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].

    Chicken Alfredo

I have always loved their brunch buffet and have brought many of my friends and family for that exact reason. But this time I came for the dinner. The service was nice as always and my friends and I were quickly seated. The menu is very extensive with something for everyone. I opted for the chicken Alfredo and it was very delicious. The Alfredo wasn't the typical thick cream sauce that you would typically see but it was oil with spinach and mushrooms. I was very flavorful.

2024-08-01. Grand Tavern Troy. Crab cake dijon. More filler than I hoped. 2.5 stars.

2024-08-01. Grand Tavern Troy. It is with a heavy heart when I say this, Grand Tavern has discontinued their Fried Oyster appetizer... it was one of the reasons why we come here. Happy hour just got a little less happy for us... On the bright side, they still have the prime rib dinners on Thursday nights, so we were at least able to still enjoy that. We went with the 12 oz portion to share and also ordered a bunch of appetizers: Calamari, Tenderloin Tips, Whipped Feta, Crabcakes, and Nachos. The crab cakes came in two small medallions and there was quite a bit of filler to them. Served with a side of greens and a Dijon mayo. 2.5 stars. Calamari. These came in strips rather than the traditional rings. The breading was heavier and crustier than I remembered. Served with a side of marinara and a wedge of lime. 3 stars. Nachos. These were actually made with won ton wrappers, but it was a nice surprise as they put a twist on the traditional. It worked well IMO. 5 stars. Whipped feta. Wasn't sure what this was going to be, but it was feta with honey and served with pita chips. The feta/honey mix was better than expected. 3.5 stars. Tenderloin tips. Smothered in a mushroom gravy, served with garlic mashed potatoes and topped with fried onions. It wasn't overcooked and was fantastic! 5 stars! Prime Rib dinner (12oz). Served with garlic mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. The Prime Rib was cooked to a nice medium rare. The best part is that this location has real horse radish you can get if you ask for it. 5 stars. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, Grand Tavern Troy is still my preferred location. The ambiance is nice and so is the staff. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which is great for warm summer nights.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We enjoy many of the items on their menu, the dishes are flavorful, and they rarely disappoint. Did I mention that they also have a weekend brunch? I'm still a fan. 4 stars. If You would like to experience more, come dine-with-me.yelp.com I'd love to have your company... Bon Appétit!

That is not a $7 containers. That is a side!

I placed a carryout order and was disappointed with the "owner" response or lack of service regarding a mistake they've made. As you can see in the picture, I ordered a regular size chili @ $6 and paid an extra $ to add cheese and onions. Mind you, I ordered the same exact chili yesterday and even interacted with the same young receptionist. However, when I got home and saw that they had given me the side potion rather than the regular portion, I called and some woman said she is the owner and get this, she said we don't have anything larger than the side size!!! I called her out on the lie and said I got the $7 portion yesterday and it came In a bowl not in small side container. She took down my number and made a big deal out of refunding me the difference in price. She still HAS NOT called back. Let me tell you something, you can keep the $7 but you will NEVER see me placing orders at your location ever again. Your loss because my order from today was over $80. Keep your poor customer service lack of skills going because you are very good at it. :)

I came with my local friend after I arrived in town after a nine hour drive from the east coast. Location was convenient to her place. We sat on the covered patio which was nice. I don't remember that being here when it was the former restaurant. Food came out quickly. I ordered the brussels sprouts based on another picture posted here as I only like my brussels sprouts if they're super crispy. They were, but they must've been put under a broiler instead of baked at a high temperature because they were still very hard in the middle. I took most of them home, but did not end up eating them. The fish and chips were great. The cod was thick and tender. I liked the housemade tartar sauce and the addition of malt vinegar. My friend enjoyed her meal which I didn't capture. I will definitely be back in December.

From our server Quinn to the amazingly prepared and fresh tasting food, it was back to what I originally thought of this chain. It was a Monday night so it was not busy and there were 7 of us so we were seated right away. Our food arrived very quickly after we ordered and looked amazing. I love that they offer seasonal menus so you are almost always going to find something new on the menu. Additionally, the summer menu is all under 600 calories. That's a bonus! I ordered the Grilled Corn Flatbread, hubby had the Avocado Toast, and my niece got the Filet Mignon. I didn't take a pic of every person's orders - just those flanking me. The Flatbread was excellent - it had cheese and spiced bacon as well as sour cream so the taste combination was excellent. Hubby said his Avocado Toast was the best he had ever had. I had a taste and it was very good. My niece said her Filet was perfectly cooked and not dry or tough. I'll be back again - thank you, Quinn, for how personable and helpful you were to our family.

Boneless wings are a low expectation food for me, so when a sauce or the crisp really comes out excellent, I'm always genuinely surprised. The sauce was really the highlight, cause it balances flavor and heat perfectly, while also having some sweetness without being too sticky. What I really like about this spot is that they have around 110 draft beers on tap so it's really a craft beer lovers paradise. They also have some basic beers for those who don't have the love for crafts along with a full bar and curated cocktail list. I do want to start with some thoughts before I give the highlights. We were charged a percent for using a credit card. I cannot speak to the in-person menu, but I combed the online menu and it did not mention that. We were also charged for ranch. Most places do not do that, and we were not informed there would be an upcharge. Most places allow you a sauce to go with fries. Also, for my meal, there is an image of an extra sauce which it did not come with, but we were charged for two small portions of ranch. Last, the server was just okay. I always enthusiastically ask questions to get to know more about a place. I asked if they had any other fruity drinks. She pointed to the drink menu and indicated just the Paloma. I said, but you have a full bar, this is the only fruity drink you make? She did not want to ask the bar, but I asked her to. The bar apparently only came up with one other drink idea, which I ended up getting two drinks listed on the menu (both very good) but it seemed like work for her to go out of her way to inquire. I also bet they could have made many fruity drinks, like maybe a Mai Tai, or some equivalent. Oh well. On the other hand, the Paloma was actually very good. It was a quality Paloma and I do recommend. Their other drink was seasonal with lavender, also a very nice drink. Most of the other places, like Honcho, I have no problem with getting a variety of drinks or inquiring about them, and the bar tender here did a great job. I came here because I was targeted by an ad on Instagram. This place was not on my radar, but since they created a meal (Steak-frites) very similar to Le Relais in Paris and New York, etc... I wanted to try it. It came with bottomless parm fries. The fries were crispy, savory, and delightful. The steak was super well cooked and was like butter. You did not even need a knife, it cut with a fork. Since I love next day leftovers, the steak was still super delicious and tender the next day. It was still like butter and cut with a fork. I would absolutely come back for that and bring the rest of my family. We also tried the tri-tip sandwich. We were told the bread was made fresh. I thought it was very good and very tender. My husband would have liked an au jus or horseradish sauce. He would try the hamburger next, but I would love another steak-frites, like right now! We were sad the coffee and pastry section closed early. In the past, at Honcho, we would get coffee and pastry after dinner since their coffee tends to be really good and quality. I would consider coming for brunch to try some. We talked to a gentleman who was part of the business as he was working hard. He was very kind and knowledgeable and took the time to hear our thoughts. I told him I was here for the steak. He thought I had a "but". I did not, it was great and I hope they can maintain that price point and the second serving of fries, because that was my main reason for visiting. He let us know the menu recently changed. I am not able to compare since this was my first time, but I liked that they had a steak dinner and pizza. If we come back my oldest loves this group's pizza, she gets it at Vinsetta, and this one looked very good.
