Caesar salad, calamari and shrimp fritti. White sangria and an amalfi spritz
Hanna W.

Incredible food! The shrimp and calamari fritti was perfectly cooked. Especially loved the shrimp!! Both the bolognese and la nonna were delicious. The handmade pasta was the cherry on top! Pumpkin tiramisu (seasonal dessert) was like eating autumn in a single bite. Great flavors for a November night! Only downside of the experience was the loud main dining room. It was a full room with seemingly nothing to absorb the sound. Overall, I can't wait to return and try more dishes!

Antica Nova is tucked behind the San Marino club and has been updated to a modern Italian restaurant. We arrived with a reservation and were seated promptly, the crowd was diverse with families, friend gatherings, and couples of all ages. Our service overall was fine, not particularly attentive or friendly but it was end of the dinner rush on the weekend and it seemed she was juggling a few larger parties so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. What does bother me was our server was not well educated on the allergens and made no initiative to find out. My allergy is mild and only when consumed so I stuck with foods I knew were safe but I could never recommend Antica Nova to any of my family who have more severe allergies because I have no faith the staff is properly trained or cares. The sommelier, however, was very knowledgeable and came to our table with great recommendations when they were out of a wine my boyfriend chose. The food is good but I wasn't thinking about it anytime after. Usually a really good meal has me telling everyone about it and thinking about it the next day, but this was just fine. We would go back and try it again but are in no rush. I appreciate they had a vegan section which made ordering easy, it's actually one of the reasons we chose to come here. The bruschetta was hard to eat due to the chunks of artichoke, I was expecting a more finely diced topping but it was delicious and well prepared. Our entrees were good, but average. I was happy to see the bathrooms were clean and well maintained. It's a space that is often neglected but can really ruin a dining experience when overlooked. There's a lot of thought into the ambiance, styling and aesthetic of the restaurant which is nice but I would love to see the overall service and food match it.

The building is stunning -- clearly it must have been something significant before, and it's worth a visit just to see the space. Unfortunately, the service and atmosphere didn't quite live up to the impressive setting. We came as an 8-top and started at the bar. The solo bartender was clearly overwhelmed managing a 30-plus seat bar. She spent more time dealing with the computer than actually making drinks, which slowed everything down. At this price point, management should consider how that affects the mood -- in a good crowd, a lost shot of Tito's here and there is just the cost of doing business. Our server at the table was young and just okay -- polite but not particularly engaging. We ordered a variety of appetizers and pastas. Everything was good, and prices were reasonable. It's solid Italian if you're there for pasta, though I didn't see any of the steaks to judge that side of the menu. Desserts were a mixed bag. The tiramisu and cheesecake looked underwhelming but tasted fine. The cannoli had an odd crunch, which I think was granulated sugar that hadn't been fully incorporated. One big miss for me was the lighting in the dining area -- bright LEDs that really detract from the cozy, romantic atmosphere you'd expect in a nice Italian restaurant. Overall: Good food, mid-level service, and slightly under-mid ambience.

Hands down, my favorite restaurant. Antica Nova is that rare mix of elevated and effortlessly cool. The service is always immaculate--everyone there is real, raw, and genuinely kind. You feel taken care of in the best way. Whether you're posted up at the bar or dining under the string lights on their stunning patio, the atmosphere is just beautiful. And the food? Out. Of. This. World. I've had nearly everything on the menu at this point-- the veal parm is a knockout, the rabbit pasta is unforgettable, the gnocchi melts in your mouth, and don't sleep on the grilled Caesar or the seafood risotto. You literally can't go wrong. Antica Nova isn't just a restaurant--it's an experience, and one that keeps calling me back.

I've been here a few times since they've had new ownership. This has been the best Italian yet for this building. The waiter recommended the Tagliatelle Bolongese. It was bland and watery. We also tried the chef special of the Fettuccine Norcina. It was good. It could have been better with larger sausage crumble. The truffle was very mild. Apps -The Octopus, shrimp and scallops were cooked perfectly. The pepper sauce was unique. It would have been nice to have a lemon wedge with the antipasti. The seafood needed more tart to the finish. The must order that will bring me back to this restaurant - Tartufo. My friend had the Cassarece. I came back for the Gnocchi. The Tartufo sauce is well balanced and mouth watering. Truly a prize truffle in this dish. This is entree the wait staff should recommend. A perfect end to the meal was the Creme Brulee. We will def be back.

I really enjoyed it. We had a good sized group, about a dozen. Everyone's food looked great. The calamari was awesome, the bread, fantastic. I had the veal parm. Man it was so good. I need to go back and try the organic made in house pasta, heard rave reviews around the table. Service was exceptional. It's off the street behind the San Moreno club so not really visible from the street-gps it, worth the effort. Oh, the cannoli! Mama Mia, Holy Cannoli!!!

The food was decent Italian but no adjustments can be made to what you order. No substituting pasta for potatoes. No customizing the cocktails. And the restaurant is too expensive for that. No type of accommodations made and that isn't a good experience to me.

A "Hidden Gem", a slice of Italy, ANTICA NOVA, located directly behind the San Marino Club on Big Beaver in Troy. From the amazing food, the excellent service, and ambiance, Chef Anthony Giannola's passion for Italian cuisine makes every visit feel like a family gathering. Highly recommended!

Newer restaurant in the area. We visited on a Tuesday night at 8pm and only 3 other tables there. Our server Scott was very nice. We started with the bread basket and dipping oil and it was delicious. We got beef tips for the appetizer and they were cooked perfectly but the zip sauce was lacking flavor. For dinner I had the veal limone and it was excellent. My friends both ordered filet and were happy with them. Lastly we shared a pistachio cheesecake and it was very good. I would definitely return and try more of the menu

Authentic Italian cuisine in a beautiful setting. Loved that the chef came out to chat and offer recommendations a nice personal touch. I'll definitely be returning!

Right from the start that me and my partner stepped in this restaurant we we're seated and helped right away the service was amazing, Servers were very polite. Food was 10/10 super delicious with lots of flavor, menu was unique in my opinion I have never had anything that I saw on the menu. Well served no to much or to small portions, cocktail's incredible definitely recommend.

We got there and they told us it was closed for a private party. We did not see that info on their website. We were disappointed.

From the moment we walked in, the vibe was perfectly executed for the spooky season. The decor was next-level: skeletons, mugs shaped like skulls and spooky trees, spell-cloud ceiling details, flickering lights, and more! Our table was set with free snacking kettle and waters. The cocktails were creative and delicious! We got the Cabin in the Woods and Super Devil Juice. Both drinks came in a festive spooky tree mug! We ended the night with a yummy Weisscream Sandwich. The ice cream was from Ray's Ice Cream! I loved that a lot of the bites collaborated with local restaurants in the area! If you're looking for a bit of Halloween flair, Weiss Distilling Co. hits the mark. It's perfect for date night, a small group of friends, or even a fun stop before dinner in the area. It's impressive to say the least. I have only been to three concept so far: Haunted Weiss, Wild Weiss, and the current theme Miami Weiss. Parking is all street and is mostly, if not entirely, free in Clawson. I would recommend reservations, but I'm a fly by the seat of my pants gal. Walking in near opening at 5 has always yielded good results. I have only come here for drinks, but I feel like they do have some light food on the menu. Or used to. They do have a popcorn machine and will serve you bowl after bowl. You'll need it with their yummy cocktails. This team is a well oiled machine. Everyone behind the bar works together to give you the best experience. Tina, our bartender, was super nice and dressed to kill in her sweet sunnies and animal print jumper. I stuck with rum based drinks and was pleased with the Broken Yari and Cafe Con Ron. Unique, well balanced, and flavorful. Weiss makes all the booze they will serve you, so these drinks can't be had anywhere else. They have mocktails too. You will not be disappointed! It's not gimmicky or cheesy. It's like going to the best party where no detail was overlooked.

We sat at the bar and had to wait a while before even getting menus. This kind of service continued for the rest of the night and we honestly felt ignored and forgotten. Once we got our food (we ordered the Tacos Mexicanos) we had to wait again for silverware. The bartender never came by to check on us after receiving our food so we ended up having to flag down a different server. And then instead of being able to ask the bartender for a margarita, I had to flag down a different server AGAIN to put my drink order in. This place seemed super hectic and disorganized. Food runners did not seem to know where they were going and had to yell across the place to ask the servers who ordered the food they were carrying. Not sure if they don't number their tables but it was super distracting and made them look unprofessional. The food itself was mediocre. This is the outdoor space behind Mojave Cantina so they share a menu/kitchen. I thought the meats were quite dry and needed some acid or some kind of brightness to wake them up. I thought the space itself was really cute though. And I love a themed out bathroom and the sliding doors with the hook locks were super fun. Overall, probably would not come back to 54 West.

They were just opening up, but they let us sit at the bar while they got the restaurant ready for dinner. We all got drinks at the bar. I got The Final Rose drink. its's very pretty and not too strong. After sipping on the drinks, the host brought us to our table. Chris was our server that day. He was super friendly and answered all of our questions regarding the menu. Here's what we got: - Michigan lamb ragu (his) - Lobster and shrimp pad thai (mine) - Crab and shrimp cakes (share) - clam chowder (share) His family got some of the same items, but I can't remember the different items they got. The overall consensus though was that everything tasted fantastic. Coming from the Bay Area, I have high expectations when it comes to Asian food, so I was pleasantly surprised by how great the pad thai tasted. The clam chowder was creamy and delightful. The crab cakes were the perfect size and not teeny tiny. The lamb ragu was very well done also and my husband is a big fan of lamb so he really enjoyed his meal. Since we were there early, it was quiet which was nice. Would definitely return in the future the next time I am in Michigan.
