We've now been there twice in a month! It's just so good. Food, service and atmosphere. We were there with friends last night, had Marvin as our waiter and couldn't have been happier with his service. He was very attentive even though he was helping several tables! He made us so comfortable, laughing and joking with us, bringing extra bread, replacing drinks... he deserves a raise! A big thanks to Marvin, the chefs and all the staff! We will definitely be back! More than a few people have told me they were not impressed with this place but I had to try it for myself. There are two restaurants, one downstairs that is is a pizza and casual bar and the one upstairs that we made reservations for, which is more than casual. The decor is very cute, the stairs going up are lined with beautiful mirrors and the interior has a greenery vibe going on that wasn't overwhelming. We checked in and had to wait less than 5 minutes in their cute seating area for them to get our table ready. We were seated in the outdoor area that was covered and heated and I really appreciated the warmth since it was freezing outside. Our server, Marvin, was very cool and funny. Gave us time to look over the menu and made sure we had new sets of plates and silverware between each new set of dishes that were brought out. We started with a limoncello martini and the "Sophia Loren" which was their version of an espresso martini and both were very good. Very subtle on the alcohol. We also got the crispy fresh mozzarella as an app and they tasted really good covered with the sauce. The breading and sauce reminded me of arancini and less like a mozzarella stick and I liked it a lot. We got small versions of the lemon spaghetti and the spicy vodka rigatoni as well as the beef tenderloin medallions. The lemon spaghetti was very creamy and tasty but could not taste the lemon that was supposed to be in it (it still was very good). The rigatoni had just the right amount of kick in it and the sauce was creamy too. I loved the beef medallions. The cook on it was a bit overdone than we asked but it was still flavorful and juicy and the zip sauce it was sitting in was so yummy. We finished with the tiramisu that was very refreshing even though I accidentally swallowed a big chunk of straight cocoa powder (there was a lot on the top). Bella Limone offers a really nice, upscale vibe with a fantastic outdoor patio and rooftop seating area. It's the perfect backdrop for a night out. Food was solid, and the cocktails were excellent! the house limoncello is a total standout and a must-order! My only critique is the pace of the service. Despite the restaurant not being very busy when we went, things moved pretty slowly. Worth a visit for the atmosphere and drinks, just don't expect a quick turnaround! read more

This is a highly underrated restaurant in the area. After reading some of the reviews I was very hesitant to try it but I'm so glad I did. We were looking to take a party of 8 folks joining us on a Saturday night and this was one place not too loud enough to accommodate large parties like us without an issue. I had made prior reservations to make sure of that. Service was quick and also very accommodating to couple people from our party arriving later. Food itself was excellent. Their limoncello drink which they take pride in making in house over 2 months of time, was excellent. I also had the limoncello martini which was also great. For food our party ordered the chicken parm, wild mushrooms gnocchi, salad and other appetizers and all came perfect. For dessert they had a couple of options but I was only able to try tiramisu and I don't have any complains. Very few places get tiramisu right for me, and this is one of them.. I'm glad we didn't go by reviews for this, and found a great Italian place to hang out at to come back again later. read more

So So: The online menu showed broccolini, but it was broccoli. It was bland and needed salt. The poor: spumoni gelato was sandy/grainy. Stopped eating it. Waitstaff was friendly, but plan for almost two hours on a Friday evening. Overall, the 130 plus price tag versus food. Don't know if I would rush back. Tasty, authentic food and attentive service from the wait staff and chef. Get the creamy limoncello as you can hardly find it elsewhere and it's better than the average more bitter limoncello drink. However, the vibes just felt off as it was a weekend night with barely anyone there. Tips: the bathrooms by the ground level entrance are locked so you have to use the ones upstairs. New Italian restaurant replaced Pinkies Roof Top. Beautiful remodel with great Instagram perfect decor. Very friendly service but they are still finding their barring. They "ran out" of limoncello, which is kind of the theme. We pivoted to Grapa which " the bartender could not find". The margarita I ended up with was well made. My pasta arrived about thirty minutes before my friend's food and since it polite to wait until everyone gets their meal...the pasta was cold and "just ok". Shrimp that was $2 per piece extra were overcooked and chewy. My friend's lemon chicken was pretty good. The pasta with meatballs and parmigiana look very good. Tiramisu and carrot cake were outstanding but unfortunately they had no decaf coffee or tea to go with it. I think this place has potential but I am not itching to go there anytime soon. read more

Bella Limone, welcome to Royal Oak. We came here on opening night! I happened to see them putting the name up on the restaurant earlier this week so I was excited to try this place out. The menu reminded me of Pops for Italian meets Sal's meets Bella Piatti. The space was very cool and looked different from the restaurant that was there prior. They had the windows open and it was a nice night for outdoor dining. I was able to make an 8pm reservation on the same day which I was happy about. We showed up at 8:05pm and the restaurant was no doubt full. Not many people were waiting around though. The hostess told me that there was a waitlist for 30 minutes. I told her I had a reservation and she said there was still a wait. I was a little annoyed by this because the point of a reservation is so you don't have to wait. While we were waiting, 3 people asked if we had been helped. Everyone seemed attentive at first. We got seated around 8:30pm and started looking at the menu. We ordered drinks, Toasted almond Cocktail and the Rosemary Maple Sour. Both were filled with the good ice. Maybe a little too much ice but good cocktails overall. Before the drinks arrived, we got our crispy brussel sprout appetizer. These were excellent. Highly recommend if you like crispy brussels. Then things started to slow down. Our caesar salad came out on a small plate about 20 minutes after the app. A table next to us said they had been waiting for over an hour for food and ended up leaving when our salad came before their food. Our waitress kept coming over and telling us the meals would be done soon. Then a manager came by and apologized. We never said anything or complained because we knew it was their opening night but there were definitely delays and/or staffing issues. It was unbelievably slow. Then we got a side of the yukon potatoes (so good!! like a crispy seasoned potato) and one of our entrees that we were sharing, the shrimp scampi. This dish was my least favorite. The pasta was kind of bland and the portion was very small. I would skip this. Then we got our last two shared pasta entrees. The wild mushroom gnocchi and the small spicy palomino rigatoni. These were both phenomenal pastas, but be warned, they were not rigatoni shaped or the typical gnocchi shaped. (see my photo!) Both of them were so delicious though that I didn't even care. The spicy palomino wasn't too spicy. It was creamy and delightful. The gnocchi was like half moon shaped but was like biting into a cloud. Both were stand outs to me. We ended the meal with the carrot cake which was supposed to be served warm. It was a bit cold but still very good. Overall, I think this place has great potential. I just hope that they figure out the timing for the courses and maybe add some additional staff to their team. read more

LOVE the stairway up to the restaurant, and yes, go up! (Could improve signage as that wasn't really clear, but they're opening a downstairs space too it looks like) We arrived for our reservation and there was a short wait, no big deal, the waiting area is super cute! The murals on the walls are beautiful and overall the ambiance is worth the drive. I loved all the vintage gold frames with old photos and just generally cool stuff around to look at. I had wine, totally forgot to try the limoncello! We started with a fancy cheese pizza which was delicious. Then we ordered the lemon pasta and salmon and the broccoli. It would have been nice to know the salmon also already came with broccoli but I think our server just forgot that detail. Overall we had a great night, the food was delicious, the service was good. Bella Limone just opened up. Very pretty Instagramable space with a nice outdoor sitting balcony perfect for a warm evening. Unfortunately, when it comes to food - maybe give them more time to figure their stuff out. Their advertised Limoncello drinks were not available - they already ran out; coffee, in any variation, wasn't available either. While staff was very friendly and helpful overall - service wasn't great. Kitchen didn't get out entrees at the same time - we only had 5 people in our party. We had to ask for napkins and silverware at least 3 times, both before and after food was served. As far as food goes - it was ok. Chicken Lemoncello had a good flavor but was very dry. The side of polenta was good. Tiramisu was great. Carrot cake was ok. I liked that it was served warm but I prefer when it's layered with cream - makes it more moist vs just topped with it. Overall, this place has potential and ambiance really saves the day, I just hope they figure out the food and kitchen portion. Might check out this place again in the future. read more

We were there on 9/5. 5:30 Res. I understand they just opened and had a soft opening a week or so prior but maybe it should have been extended a few weeks! Service -awful. Food-watery sauce on pasta dishes which were cold , eggplant parm(deep fried) on cold angel hair pasta. Bar service- our friends second glass of wine which he ordered way before food came arrived after our meal was over. Waitress stated"bartender is way behind" Took forever to get the food. Ordered a carry out for person at home ...... waited over a half hour after our meal was over to get it as the waitress wouldn't take our order for it when I asked her to. Whenever I give a bad review I feel horrible but there is a lot that needs to be fixed for this restaurant. I didn't make the reservation my friend did but going in I read the reviews and all of them were bad so I went in with a heavy heart. We had an 8pm reservation, got sat at 8:30, made our dinner order at 8:45pm and 9:45pm we still did not have our food and we were running late for a movie. They said the kitchen only had 2 people and it was a new menu but it was the day before valentines so it was bound to be packed and all the reviews had said they and had the same thing. Our waitress felt really bad about it and they had initially made us pay full price for our meals before the manager came over and ended up comping our meal. We ended up getting all of our meals at 10:30pm. I think bc I was frustrated and hungry the meal was not worth the price, the meal was very small portion. And unfortunately I don't think I'll be back but I hope the restaurant can learn from this busy night and hirer more chefs and accommodate for so many reservations read more

I was nervous to come here after reading some of the comments about the service, but I thought the service was incredible! We were done in an hour even with an appetizer and had multiple different staff members check on us throughout the night. They also messed up the presentation of lighting one of their appetizers on fire, so they made a whole second one and came back out to redo the presentation for us which was very thoughtful of our server. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 were the portions are a bit small. Even though the pasta plates are labeled as small, they are a bit too small for how much they cost. read more

I spent 4 HOURS here on Valentine's Day with my boyfriend because of how Ungodly slow this place is. It was actually comical how bad our experience was that we were seriously laughing out loud at multiple points and cracking jokes, like "instead of a bill they better give us paychecks for our time spent here". Our reservation was at 7:45, we got all of our food by 11pm, and finally cashed out at 11:30pm. We didn't get to do anything else for Valentines Day because this place took up our entire night. It took over 30 min after ordering to get the appetizers (2 salads, Italian sausage & a bruschetta). They ran out of bruschetta so they brought us both Italian sausage instead in hopes that I liked meat, and said they ran out of bruschetta, which, according to tons of other reviews, is insanely common here. They eventually managed to find some bruschetta & brought it out to me. It's now atleast 2.5 hours into the dinner and the manager came over & said our ticket is next in the window... lmao. What does this even mean? We received our apps like 2 hours before that so it seriously made no sense. Our entrees finally came out at 11pm & we have been here since 7:45. The entrees also came out all scattered at different times with about 15 min intervals. I ate before my boyfriend even got any of his food. I seriously wanted to leave before the food even came, I was so tired and hungry I just wanted to get out of there. We thankfully got 50% of our bill comped, which I wouldn't have taken any less honestly. The food was actually really good, & all but one of the dishes was hot as if it were just made. I'm guessing all of our food kept going out to other people instead of us, I can't think of another explanation for it. These cooks deserve a WAY better place to showcase their culinary skills. The portions were another hilarious point too, considering the shrimp was 4 pieces and it took them 3 hours to get it out to us. Ambiance - tacky entrance leading up the stairs through the alley, felt like we had entered Harry Potter. Upon leaving, I realized the number of frames were meant to cover up holes in the wall from dissappointed patrons wishing they had gone to Carrabas or Olive Garden instead (knowing they committed to cheap dull Italian prior to the meal). Dining room and patio area was nicer though and when we sat down we felt like it might actually be a well rounded spot. Bruschetta - tomatoes were fresh and light, bread had a nice texture/ butter portion, not burnt Arugula salad - mid at best, nothing notable to complain about but also nothing to compliment Chicken limoncello - same breading and taste profile as the chicken parm. Burnt and drier than the Sahara. Dump truck of arugula salad on top Chicken parm - burnt and dry. Marinara as uninspiring and lackluster as the last argument with a significant other. Salmon - dry and bland, arugula salad on side. Salmon tasted like it was kept in a bucket of lake water post filleting. Would've rather eaten a scooped dead one that floated to the top of a river elsewhere. Rigatoni Spicy Palomino - only dish that had a flavor profile of note; creamy with a hint of spice at the end, noodles overcooked. Felt like it could've been something but ingredients drowned one another out rather than being highlighted throughout the dish Wild mushroom gnocchi - gnocchi had the texture of play dough and was impossible to eat and enjoy. Incredibly bland. I would rather have eaten 3 cups of play dough and basically did. At least I would commit to what I was getting myself into prior to the meal. Tiramisu - tasted as if there was a chalkboard in the back room and they beat erasers over the dish during prep. Horrible, uninspiring and spent the end of the meal smashing it with a spoon to make it look like we had eaten more of it. Every bite after the first was filled with regret. Overall 3.6 out of 10, would never recommend to a friend, acquaintance or someone i disliked. Would recommend to people I hate or anyone who still has no sense of smell or taste buds from COVID. Left with several to go boxes and would feel too bad giving anything to any pets at home or letting the birds pick at it downtown, for they too would question what they had done to deserve such anemic food. read more

The waitress seemed like she was rushing us and the entrees came out cold. Despite the menu claiming the pasta is fresh, it's definitely not. Sauces were watery and lacking flavor, and the meatballs were raw inside. They also were out of many menu items, specifically the carrot cake that we were looking forward to. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Last night we ate here to celebrate our friend getting engaged. It was really unfortunate that we ended up having probably the worst restaurant experience I've ever had trying to celebrate the best person. We didn't get our drinks for a good 25 minutes. The waiter dropped a drink in my friends lap, glass shattered on her, and didn't offer to comp her drink or anything. We waited about an hour and a half for our food -- the small is literally child size portions. My salmon was extremely dry, two people in our party had cold food, the small spaghetti was an absolute joke. Drinks were forgotten about. Cold dishes when they should've been hot. Long wait times. If you spill a drink on a customer, you make it up to them. If you know that you're not providing adequate service, you compensate. My friends and I have all worked in the service industry. We understand it's a Saturday night and it is busy. But if you can't handle a party of 9 -- then don't let people make reservations for a party size that big. It is disappointing but I know that none of my friends and I will ever come back to this restaurant. $600 later and we ended up getting Taco Bell on the way home because food portions were way too small or inedible. read more

The food was good here. I enjoyed everything I ate. However, the portion sizes were disappointing for the prices you paid. The food quality, while very tasty, does not justify the cost. This was especially true when comparing the portion sizes v.s. cost of the "small" servings. The cost of the "smalls" are the same as what you'd pay at other local favorites like Ottava Via or Sal's in Birmingham, which are arguably better pasta with the same quality ambiance. Even SheWolf in Detroit which is much higher end has better portions for their pricing. It also seems like they are using the same model with this menu v.s. their pinky's menu. For those that remember: the pinky's food menu was extremely overpriced and the portion sizes were ridiculously small for the cost. I hope this place stays open because it was really cute and the rooftop patio is amazing, I love what they've done with the renovation since the pinky's closure, but they need to right size their portions to the cost they are asking guests to pay for them. Hosted my daughters baby shower at Bella Limone. The overall feedback was five star, from the ambience, food, service...exceptional!!! Went on 9/20/25, Saturday night, but there were empty tables. The waitimes were absolutely inexcusable, one of my friends ordered a glass of wine, which took 15 minutes. My other friend ordered a cocktail, 15 minutes later the waitress came back and said they didn't have the ingredients for the cocktail she ordered - might have been nice to know that before she ordered. My friends ordered polenta and cheese ravioli, which we waited about 45 min for, food was very meh, ravioli portion was tiny. I had a salad, which was fine. I made a reservation 3 weeks ago on open table for my best friend who was flying in from Texas, and it was her 30th birthday dinner. We arrived to the restaurant with other couples standing outside, 8 couples to be exact... and waiting to go in.. only to find out that the restaurant was CLOSED!!!! No lights on, no sign saying they were closed due to XYZ.. NOTHING! THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY UNPROFESSIONAL. I will never return to this place. Open table, and any other reservation platforms should be closed so this problem could be avoided, as well as ADD IT TO YOUR IG ACCOUNT AND WEB PAGE THAT YOU ARE CLOSED FOR SERVICES. read more

I went there last night around 8ish. The place is super cute and nicely modeled. I understand that it is the first couple weeks open and it takes time to get in a groove of things but it took us our hour and half to get our main course. The food was pretty good would definitely recommend getting the large portions. The one thing I do have to complain about is the manger. Our waiter told us the manager was going to come over to talk to us because our wait was so long, she never came over at all.
