I really wanted to love The Franklin, but unfortunately the experience missed the mark…read more We arrived at 4:00 p.m. on a Saturday and were the only party in the restaurant for quite some time. The waitress was abrasive from the start and immediately informed us that there was a time limit on our table. Looking back, that's actually pretty comical, considering the restaurant ended up taking far longer than their own stated limit to serve us. We were there celebrating our friend's baby sprinkle and hoped for a relaxed, enjoyable afternoon. Instead, the service was painfully slow. Drinks took an exceptionally long time to arrive, and the wait for our meals was even longer. The delays were so significant that one member of our group eventually had to leave before fully enjoying the gathering. Had the service been friendlier and more attentive, the long waits may have been easier to overlook. But between the abrasive welcome, the slow pace, and the overall lackluster experience, our celebration felt more frustrating than enjoyable. I hate leaving negative reviews, especially because I was genuinely excited to try The Franklin. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to expectations, and it's not somewhere I'll be rushing back to.

Jeff as our server was a delight! He took good care of us. We stuck around long enough that we hated to see him moving on to the room for a party celebration. We even tried to order a second meal but they had to make way for reservations! We will be back! Our food was soooo good! I had the B-Fast Sandy and one pancake. My bestie had the shrimp & grits plus three different flapjacks! The pancakes/flap jacks are huge. This was a perfect location to celebrate Woman's History Month since this is an award winning restaurant, owned by a woman.

Nice establishment. Definitely has some yummy picks with a nice environment!…read more My family and I ended up going here for a Mother's Day reservation, but it ended up being a bit difficult with the operational side of things. It's always a busy time for establishments, especially when it comes to holidays, but we repeatedly kept getting seated and "unseated" (the hostess would seat us, but then take us back to common area as the tables were either dirty or not ready). I didn't personally care about this, but I definitely noticed my party getting a bit frustrated by the experience as it happened about 4 times before we officially got seated, which also exceeded our initial reservation time. The service itself was okay. I wish they would've come around a bit more as we were out of water while eating our meal, but I know it was super busy that day!! I ended up getting the soft shell crab sandwich and it was pretty good! I think it would be even tastier with more sauce on the bun, but overall a nice pick. I also tried the lobster bisque; it had a nice texture with the little lobster bits, but found it overly salty. Hush puppies were a nice, crispy texture and I loved the sweet butter with it! One thing I absolutely loved about this experience was the mother's day flower pop-up stand! The cutest way to walk in and support another local business.

Our recent dinner at Streetside Seafood in downtown Birmingham was an unforgettable experience!…read moreNestled on Pierce Street, this intimate spot boasts a cozy, nautical-inspired vibe with exposed brick, soft lighting, and a welcoming bar area, perfect for a romantic evening or special night out. It's upscale yet relaxed, making it feel like a hidden treasure in the heart of the city. For my entree, I chose the Pepper Crusted Filet Mignon with Lobster Tail, and it was sheer perfection! The filet was incredibly tender, with a bold pepper crust and rich port wine mushroom demi-glace, served alongside Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. The added lobster tail was succulent and buttery, creating an indulgent surf-and-turf combination that highlighted the freshness and quality of their ingredients. My partner opted for the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes as her main dish, and they were outstanding, packed with sweet, lump crab meat, lightly breaded for a crispy exterior, and served with house-made tartar sauce and fresh sides. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying, without any unnecessary fillers. The service truly made the evening special; our waitress Chris was amazing! She was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu. Her warm personality and efficiency made us feel welcomed and cared for throughout. While prices are on the premium side, the exceptional quality, portions, and overall experience make it well worth it. If you're in Birmingham craving fresh, creative seafood, Streetside Seafood is the place to go. We'll be returning soon!

I love the complimentary bread, it's served fresh out of the oven and covered in Parmesan. The service is friendly and hospitable. It feels welcoming and cozy with lots of paintings covering the walls. Highly recommend!
