    Scallops - 4/2022
    Candace C.

That welcome cocktail!! Came on Wednesday night and it was delicious. You can make a reservation on Resy but during the week it wasn't busy. We ordered the scallops, lobster Mac and cheese and the lobster dumplings. Cute spot with themed decor and blue velvet seats in the main area. Lobster Mac had lots of claw meat and was very cheesy, scallops were good but $12 each was steep. The lobster dumplings were alright, not my favorite personally. Service was great! We would come back!

The long anticipated opening for this oyster spot. First off the phone number on Yelp is way off. On Google it is 248-268-2875. Not open on Sunday and Mondays. Open after 5PM on Friday and Saturdays. Impossible to get in on the V-day weekend so late. Made it on a Wednesday night, it's 49 out and rainy out too. Two hour free parking in the lot across the street. Axle is waiting on us. He welcomed us with an aviation cocktail. Drink wasn't my cup of tea, but a nice gesture either way. Axle is cool. Friendly service. The bohemianesque room doesn't have the most comfy seats. We got moved by the oyster shell painting half booth seats, a bit better. We ordered Brussels sprouts, lobster dumplings, lobster Mac and cheese, lump crab cake, 3 west coast and Cajun grilled oysters too. $99.64. The lobster dumplings were yummy, packed with a decent amount of lobster lump meat in it. Sauce is light and balanced. The west coast oysters are small, but clean and tasty. The Cajun grilled oysters were decent. The Brussel sprouts are crispy, and quite tasty. The lobster Mac and cheese is quite good get. Nice big chunks of lobster meat. Super ooey gooey cheesiness too. The lump crab cake was good. Lots of crab meat in it too. The corn salsa goes decently with it. The best of our items was definitely the lobster dumplings and the lobster Mac and cheese, nicely done for sure.

This was amazing from start to finish. We waited for too long at the front door for someone to greet us but eventually someone saw us. We had a reservation but it was not super busy when I went on a Wednesday night. Our server brought us a bowl of truffle popcorn and a complimentary welcome cocktail. It was some sort of lavender gin, which I didn't love but I don't like gin or lavender. The popcorn was delicious and she even refilled our bowl. Their menu is mostly small plates so we got a couple things to share. The lobster dumplings, the Brussels sprouts and the lobster Mac and cheese were amazing. The beautiful space is a wonderful addition to Royal Oak!

Full disclosure - I only stopped in for a drink after spending time upstairs at Pinky's, so this review only pertains to that. My girls and I were sat at the bar without a reservation. We were looking to try out the drinks, as this place had recently opened. I tried out their pickle martini - I've never had one before but was up for trying it! It was good - nothing too crazy off of a regular martini. My friend got a cosmo, which was very strong. Our bartender was under 21 - she seemed a little confused on how to make the drink at the time - referred to a manual and other bartending staff. The bar was also noticeably backed up at that time/the service was a tad slower. Overall, this place had a trendy aesthetic. I would love to try some food the next time I go.

Ok so after our first visit I knew I had to come back soon! We made a reservation during the holiday weekend. Only to realize taco fest was also going on in RO so we really didn't need the reservations. We ended up being the only people in the restaurant at 5:30, weird experience but also awesome. Our waiter Axel and the head bartender kept us entertained the whole time we were there and were beyond friendly and helpful despite not having a full house! Again awesome lobster rolls and oysters! Prolly never gonna have a empty night there again considering how packed it usually is but that was dope :)

Had a little of a wait after being seated, maybe about 10 minutes before someone acknowledged us. No worries, I'm still excited to be here. It's about 7pm on a Saturday, the atmosphere is casual the ambience is very 1950s, lighting is dim, soft hipster music - not loud at all. Our waiter Axle, very cool guy, was attentive, knowledgeable, helpful and funny. Came over served us water and popcorn - I love the novelty. He took our orders, we tried: Apps: -Cajun Fried Oysters - delicious, reminded me of a cornmeal catfish batter but they were very good. - Cajun Grilled Oysters - Not for me. Too slimey - Oyster Rockefeller - oh yea, delicious! They can compete with Lousiana with these. Very tasty and flavorful. Drinks: - Berry Berry Bubbly - super cute presentation - love the dry ice effect. Very good and the one actually hit me a little. Ordered another and it was just as awesome. Definitely a staple. Dinner: - 7oz Ribeye: amazing flavor, cooked to perfection - Blackend Stuffed Salmon: came topped on a bed of couscous. It was medium rare as a standard, had to send it back to cook until medium well. I would have loved for the flavor/seasonings to kick more and for the Rockefeller sauce to be on top of the fish. Overall it was ok. Dessert: - Carrot Cake: it was soft, moist, warm and tasty.

This was the perfect spot for a nice date night. We went on Valentine's Day (with reservations). It is so cute in side which is a big bonus for me great ambiance. We started with scallops as an appetizer- they were the best scallops I've ever had (as they should be $$$). They did give us an extra one for free since it took a little bit to get to us. Next we split both the lobster roll and the burger. I don't know why my husband wanted a burger the lobster roll was incredible. Fries were really salty (which I don't mind but my husband does). For drinks - GET THE PANTY SNATCHER. It was so good. They also gave us a complimentary elderflower(?) drink. Would definitely go back

Loved the lobster dumplings. Lots of lobster combined with green chili cream & topped with scallions. It has just a hint of spice. Brussel sprouts were also very yummy. The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous. Lots of small cozy seating areas. Bar is gorgeous. We also had the cheeseburger. It was good but not a standout. It's a young waitstaff which is fine but one of the young ladies was compelled to be in her phone when she had downtime. Thought that wasn't the best look.

Nice addition to Royal Oak dining scene. The atmosphere was excellent, very cozy and pretty. We loved the welcome cocktail! Such a fun perk! We tried the shrimp, potatoes and caviar, and the dumplings. Everything was small portions and quite tasty. Our server was also attentive and engaging. Expect to spend a decent amount here especially if you have food. I'd return, but probably just for a cocktail or two on a special occasion.

I stopped by Pearls after looking at the great reviews from Yelp and I thought everything that was said was spot on... a friend and I tried the cheeseburger, lobster dumplings, black truffle croquettes, crab cake, and carrot cake... I thought that the lobster dumplings, the cheeseburger and the carrot cake really stood out. I was less impressed by the drinks... we had the mai tai, Smokey the bear, and "tequila cocktail (that's the name of the cocktail)" and none really were better than the complimentary cocktail that we were given when we sat down. I thought that the prices were pretty on par, but you're gonna spend a little money if you wanna eat and drink good.

What a hidden gem or should I say pearl. I came here expecting another disappointing seafood and left blown away. Let me start off by saying the attention to detail the restaurant has put into their environment is astounding. It's a gorgeous restaurant with a chic vibe. The waitstaff is attentive and obviously well trained. This meal was as much about the food as curating a dining experience which they did excellently. We were seated promptly, given a complimentary truffle butter popcorn and a welcome cocktail before quickly being given attention to by our wonderful waiter. After we indulged in those aperitifs, we began what I would consider some of the most high-quality eating I've had in Michigan on par with some of the best of them here. The techniques used by the chefs in the kitchen were astounding. Their attention to detail on each dish was fantastic. We started with fresh oysters which were delicious and served on ice and kelp with a delicious mignonette. This was followed by perfectly cooked seared scallops and I really mean perfect. Their lobster dumpling contained HUGE pieces of lobster and had the most delicate complimentary flavors allowing the lobster to shine, bravo. Their potatoes were exquisitely prepared and covered with decadent caviar which they did not skimp on. We decided to transition from surf to turf ordering their burger and fries to finish. They prepared the burger my favorite way: a double cheese burger smashed style with truffle rosemary fries. By the end of this meal, I was in awe. The restaurant's attention to detail in the front exemplified by the well-trained waitstaff and smart dining room makes for a lovely dining experience. This is usually enough to get people in the door but the shared attention to detail in the kitchen where the chefs boast true talent and delicious food is what will keep me coming back. Do yourself a favor and go dine at Pearls.

We went here to celebrate an early Valentine's Day and I can't recommend it enough. Our only recommendation of something to improve would be to make the menu easier to identify what items are smaller tapas style items and which are more entree sized. We loved the atmosphere, and our waiter Axel was superb. He was attentive, but gave us our space which is a nice balance to have as a server. We started with drinks, Smokey the Bear was smooth and delish, and Berry Berry Bubbly was sweeter and delightful. The Berry one was the best drink of the night. We ordered the lobster roll to share and it was the best I've ever had. The bread was buttery and toasted, the lobster was cooked well and there wasn't much filler in the salad itself. The French fries weren't great, but we didn't order it for the fries. We ordered the crab cake and while we were disappointed by the size of it (like a slider size), the flavor was phenomenal. The horseradish sauce was really good, and the corn salad was the perfect compliment. The Brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly, and the sauce on it was spicy, sweet, and not oily at all. We ordered the dancing raspberry cocktail next, and while it was a cool concept, it wasn't something I felt the need to order again. It was a totally fine cocktail, but I preferred the first two we got. We finished off our meal by ordering the crispy potato with crème fresh and caviar. The potato was crispy on the outside and soft inside, the crème fresh was perfect with it, and the caviar added a nice saltiness. We felt comfortably full when we left. We will definitely return! Looking forward to the future of this restaurant!

Came here with a reservation & excited to try this place. Waited about 10 minutes before being greeted and sat at a table. We ordered drinks that were great but took forever to get to us because our server was the only person on the floor aside from the bartender who was stepping away from the bar to help take orders. We ended up paying for our drinks and leaving because we felt so bad for how understaffed this place was.

It was a lovely experience and the food was for the most part very delicious. Service was friendly and good but a tad on the slow side (not our server's fault, they seemed pretty busy and I think she may have been the only waitress working, so she was absolutely juggling a ton). They were out of the "pretty potatoes" which was disappointing because they sounded super delicious. The restaurant is a little dark and when very busy can get a little loud. The three women at the table next to us were having a very loud conversation (of which I picked up every word) and I could barely hear my fiancé, which I didn't love, so the acoustics are a bit odd. That being said, the decor and vibe is very home-y and everyone that works there was very pleasant and lovely, from the hostess to the man that refilled our waters. We got the charcuterie plate (selected two cheeses and two meats; comes accompanied by fig jam, mustard, sardinian crackers, and cornichons), the caesar salad, the short rib, the arctic char, and the olive oil cake for dessert. All of the food was really exceptional and delicious except I found the short rib to be a tad dry. We each ordered a cocktail, I got a spritzer and my fiancé got a seasonal Pimm's cup-type cocktail that used house-made cranberry syrup. They can accommodate gluten free diets easily which is also a plus. Overall, we will absolutely be coming back!I want to try that Wagyu Pastrami Reuben!

We went for trivia and expected it to be the same as always, unfortunately it was not. They erased our points we've earned for a free glass, these are no longer honored. The menu has significantly changed: flights are $2-$3 more, no longer include flight bites, an upcharge for premium pours (which is understandable), no longer has a $5 bottle credit, and each glass is now $3-$5 more per pour. Why did you have to make every last item on the menu more expensive? I understand that the economy and inflation contribute to these things, but to increase the price and get less on everything throughout the menu plus not honor points earned for a free glass is a slap in the face. I'm just crushed at the blatant disrespect for the regulars that come every week for trivia or other events, no warning. Our trivia night just got a whole lot more expensive and we will be looking at other locations with more reasonably priced beverages and snacks. I hope they still allow us to bring in our own food, they did this week but who knows if that will also change. The staff seemed stressed telling us the new rules as well.
