First time eating here in a very long time, but the food and service were really good, so we won't wait as long between visits moving forward. The burger I had was juicy and delicious. T's steak was cook perfectly, a beautiful medium. The fries were fine...like McDonalds but the tiny version. We both got Alex's salad to start and they make all their dressings in house. The ranch and the blue cheese dressings were excellent, and the salad itself was put together very well in a chilled salad bowl and with warm, freshly toasted croutons. A pleasant start to our meal.

It was so good, the J must stand for Joe, right? And BOGO Martinis? WTF! It's like a milkshake where you get the extra bonus part in the metal container, but with delicious boozy martini remnants! So I don't recommend 3... just sayin'. Bonus refills were killer, literally! I had the tequila one, the espresso one, and the Duke (the most classic) and all were great. Service here was amazing. First, sitting at the bar and having a drink before dinner as we waited for everyone to arrive. Great, talkative and informative bartenders. Loved it! And the waiter was excellent as well and just nailed it. So friendly and attentive. We started off with the Shrimp Appetizer (Fried and spicy) and these were good. They came out quick and were woofed down by our party of 3. For dinner, I had the the crab cakes (are they native to Memphis?) and they were delicious... as were the sides of couscous and Mac-n-cheese. Double Carbs, please! Others enjoyed their meals as well (Steaks and what not) and drinks and everything. This was a great stop outside of Memphis and was worth the trip from downtown. Although I didn't pay, so I don't really know if it was worth it. But everything was great AF! I'd go back and maybe seek out this chain again in other cities. Great job!

Always a good service when dining at the bar. Great food and atmosphere. This dish has been better on other days.

    J. Alexander's sets itself apart with an expansive cocktail menu, consistently perfectly cooked steaks, and the best crab cakes in town. The restaurant and parking lot tend to get crowded at dinner time, but the pacing of the food and service is always quick. At night, the restaurant is dimly lit. During the day, it has ample natural lighting. The prices are rather high compared to local establishments but I go back for the consistency and the drinks.

Always a great experience. Grabbed the last bar seat on Valentine's Day since they had a 1.5 hour wait and cars lined up outside the parking lot. Had the redfish and a cocktail. The vibe and food were superb as always.

I haven't been here in over a decade. A friend went for her birthday celebration, so this was my chance to get back in and see what they have. I ordered the salmon, broccoli, and wild rice. Everything was delicious! I also tried the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich, and it was delicious. The service was awesome! Our server was very attentive and check in us often. The vibe is super cute and cozy. It is definitely conducive for a group outing or a date night. I am looking forward to going back again.

Great service, well prepared and presented dishes but a bit on the pricey side for what it is. Don't get me wrong, there are more affordable dishes on the menu but when you are craving prime rib...you gotta have it. Nadia, our waitress was attentive and kept a smile on her face even though she was stretched thin! Note: the reservation platforms and their website state general dress code requirements but they are not enforced. Come clean and decently dressed and you'll be fine. The ambiance here is moody in a good way: low light, cozy table placement, and real candle lighting. Great for special occasions or just a great meal with friends or colleagues!

I came in for a quick dinner. No waiting bar seating available. Service was quick and friendly. The ambiance was average. The food came out in a timely manner. My salad was delicious. Calamari was ok! The service team was exceptional. Great teamwork and customer service.

My husband and I went for a dinner last night to celebrate our anniversary. And had another great experience. Our server had such a sweet disposition and provided exceptional hospitality (Bailey S.). We selected our favorites, their veggie burger with potatoes and the chicken salad. Bailey's recommendation of the peanut butter pie was spot on. So smooth, it had a hint of peanut butter and just enough sweetness, not overly sweet. Enjoyed it, thank you.

We've actually never been to J. Alexander's so we decided to give it a try for dinner. We arrived around 6 pm, and there was already a 30-minute wait. No biggie since they have a nice big waiting area just outside the entrance. Our waitress was very pleasant and accommodating. I requested a red sangria since I couldn't find anything on the menu I really wanted, she accidentally brought me a white sangria instead but it was still good so I didn't mind lol! We started with the calamari, which was nicely fried and the calamari was tender. For dinner, I ordered the slow-roasted prime rib and opted for mac & cheese on the side, and my boyfriend got the NY strip. The prime rib was incredibly tender and packed with flavor, and the portion size was very generous. I tried a bite of my boyfriend's NY strip but found it a bit salty for my taste. The mac & cheese was also amazing, definitely a standout side! Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and I'd come back again! Though I wish the lighting wasn't so dark inside.

The food was very good and the service was excellent. It is a great spot to come with friends or family after shopping for a fulfilling meal. My only complaint is that they were out of several of the things on the specialty menu like drinks and entrees. I will say that it is snowing in the city which might have delayed shipping. Ultimately, this is somewhere I would return to because of the quality food, great service, and convenient location.

The food however was honestly meh (in my opinion). I got a creole dish and to be fair my dish looked beautiful. The plating was 10/10 but the taste for me left something to be desired. After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!

A prime location for a prime steakhouse. The service was strong as was the pacing. I found the server a bit too eager to explain the restaurant and the menu. I'm a ribeye eater so I had a pretty good idea I was getting a ribeye before I went in. I think the talking is used as a way to upsell and push guests towards opaquely priced off-menu "specials" which from my understanding are always on offer (such as their deviled eggs and bone marrow sauce). We started with the beef tartare and duck ravioli. I preferred the tartare, which had a nice spicy seasoning throughout. The duck ravioli had an excellent sauce on it, too. For our mains, I got the prime boneless ribeye ($68) and my brother got the prime strip ($56). We also shared the Yume A5 Wagyu experience ($225), letting us try three different cuts of Wagyu side by side. For sides (about $15/each), we did the fontina potatoes, truffle honey tots, and carrots. We also added the gulf prawns ($21), foie gras ($14), and bone marrow sauce (~$20) which was prepared table side and was plenty to share. It was very rich and peppery, though a bit of a salt bomb. For dessert, we shared the French toast bread pudding with maple butter ($14) which is one of my favorite bread puddings I've tried. They also brought my brother a dessert since it was his birthday, it was something like a raspberry mousse with coconut foam and a sharp raspberry sauce. Excellent. The Yume experience was a big motivation in coming here, as getting to try cuts of A5 Wagyu next to cuts of regular (albeit prime) beef is unique in the Memphis area and really for hours around. It was priced as an experience rather than a food item. It did not disappoint, nor did the prime steaks. The A5 is so unbelievably tender by comparison. My favorite was the ribeye, but I'm biased. My brother, normally a strip guy, agreed with me there. The potato sides were underwhelming, particularly for the price. I don't know how I let my brother talk me into buying him $15 tater tots for his birthday. I could get the carrots again, though. My total was $800 for the two of us for the above food, six cocktails, and tax and tip. A big chunk of that was the Yume experience as well as the drinks (we were celebrating!). If we were to go back, it would be closer to $350 for the two of us, and I would go for the prime ribeye with foie gras again, no need for Wagyu or sauce. I enjoy the sister restaurants in this restaurant group (Coastal Fish, Flight, Southern Social) and frankly I'd bet Porch is the cash cow of the group due to the relatively poor value proposition. We had a great experience exploring the finest steak and accompaniments one could wish for. But, for my money, Coastal does a pretty good steak too.

I had a fantastic espresso martini and the best brussel sprouts I've ever tasted! So I was excited to come try something else. On the plus side, the bathroom was so nicely decorated. It was also very clean. I sat at the end of the bar, beside the little section of books. The bartender was nice. I ordered the Ember&Passion cocktail. Although it was pretty good, it was quite mild. Unexpected with the ingredients in it. I was surprised that the level of expected heat was not very detectable. I give it 7/10. When I came here before in the winter, the temperature was perfect and I don't remember being too bothered that they don't have cocktail napkins. But yesterday it was quite warm in the restaurant and not having these napkins wasn't good. Nobody in the restaurant had any type of napkin under any drink! I noticed that just like mine, every glass of water from every patron had a puddle of condensation under the glass. Each time I picked up my glass of water, it would drip onto my food and clothes. My two menus got so wet. I suppose they made this decision to save themselves a lot of money. As for the food: My parmesan truffle fries were excellent!! Hot, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked in the middle. Best I've had in a long time. The Alabama white sauce on the side was just your typical sauce. It tasted just like every other Alabama white sauce that I've had so was not disappointing. But I actually ended up not using it because it was too thin and it didn't add anything to the fries. The fries were excellent enough on their own. I ordered my burger "pink" but there wasn't any pink to it, but I wasn't that bothered about it. Burger and the toppings were tasty, except for the fried green tomato. Looking closely at the picture, you can see that it was SO SMALL compared to the size of the burger. When a restaurant does that, don't they realize that it makes for a glaring disappointment?! It apparently came from near the end of the tomato, and not the middle. If you are going to offer a fried green tomato on a burger, then I feel as if you should only use the larger slices of the tomato, and save the smaller ends for maybe putting in salads. I've always been obsessed with fried green tomatoes. After having my first two bites of burger and still not reaching the tomato, I took it off to eat by itself. Sadly, it tasted terrible! I was surprised. Obviously, they didn't season the tomato or the batter. (Salt and pepper go a long way.) The burger toppings apparently made the tomato batter not only soggy, but also this strange thick texture. Like mushy and chewy at the same time. 1/10 Worst problem: FLIES!!! So many flies! When I just had my drink but no food yet, I noticed them but was not bombarded by them at that point. It wasn't until my food came. All of a sudden I was literally surrounded by them. They were everywhere! No exaggeration. I actually had to use only one hand to eat and the other hand to constantly move back and forth over my food. I eventually gave up and set the plate of some of my fries about 4 inches in front of my burger in order to hopefully draw the flies to the fries so that I could eat my burger. Unfortunately, after only four bites of my burger, when I set it down to take a drink of water, a fly landed on it within one second. Obviously, that was my last bite, and even when I was moving the plate closer to the end of the counter, two more flies landed on it. The glass of straws was inches from me. That, and the book closest to me seemed to be where they gathered to wait for their opportunity to dive bomb me. So many of them! It turned my stomach when I realized that I had been drinking from a straw with my water and I'm sure there had been flies on it before I got there. Every person that gets a straw in their drink at this restaurant has had a fly sitting on top of it. When the bartender told me about the desserts, it turned my stomach to think of just how many flies were in the kitchen. Had I known the fly situation was that bad when I first got my drink, I would have never stayed there, and I certainly would have never ordered food. I do think it is a real shame because the winter months are a totally different experience in that restaurant. But because of how horrible it was this time, I just can't ever come back.

The open display of beautifully aged, hand-cut steaks immediately sets the tone, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to premium quality before you even take your seat. Tripadvisor +1 The Blood Orange Old Fashioned was nothing short of extraordinary. Perfectly balanced with warm bourbon notes, bright citrus, and just the right touch of sweetness, every sip was smooth, bold, and incredibly refined. It's easily one of the best Old Fashioneds I've had and a cocktail I'd return for again and again. The bone-in steak was cooked to a flawless medium, boasting a beautiful char on the outside while remaining tender, juicy, and packed with rich beef flavor. Every bite reflected expert craftsmanship and respect for the quality of the meat. The salmon was equally impressive--crispy on the outside, moist and buttery inside, topped with a savory crumb topping that elevated the dish without overpowering it. Paired with creamy herb potatoes, roasted cauliflower, and fresh kale, the plate was elegant, balanced, and thoughtfully composed. Even the warm artisan bread was a standout, arriving fresh and perfectly crisp on the outside with a soft, pillowy center. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable, making it ideal for date nights, celebrations, or simply treating yourself to an exceptional meal. Chef's kiss to Ignite Steakhouse! Premium ingredients, impeccable execution, exceptional cocktails, and a dining experience that exceeds expectations. Without question, this earns a 5 out of 5 stars and has secured a place on my list of top steakhouses in the Mid-South.

The Parmesan fries are always a must-order and never disappoint. The cocktails were equally impressive. The Sidecar was smooth and refreshing, and the Pomegranate Martini was perfectly balanced. Our waitress was outstanding! She was friendly, attentive, and did an excellent job recommending the seasonal specialties. Her recommendations were spot on and made our experience even better. We chose to sit on the patio, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. It made for a relaxing evening with great food and an even better atmosphere. The warm bread with butter is always a favorite, and the carrot cake with toasted pecans and rich caramel sauce... it comes to play every single time--no games! Moist, flavorful, and easily one of the best desserts around. Excellent food, exceptional service, beautiful patio dining, and a consistently outstanding experience. We'll definitely be back!

The bread literally melted in our mouths. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her hanger steak with au gratin potatoes, and my lamb chops were cooked to perfection--tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I could only eat two, so of course I took the rest home to enjoy later! And let me not forget those steak egg rolls--they were hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Every dish exceeded our expectations. The price of the bill was well worth it. I love when I can go out for a nice dinner and everything goes right with no complaints. We can't wait to dine here again. Definitely a 10/10 from us!
