Order the lasagna... came to the table burnt on the corners and the cheese on top! They offered to "remake it " They brought back out the same burnt piece... same burnt corner, scrapped the burnt cheese off and added more sauce and fresh cheese. Then the manager MADISON came out extremely defensive, lacked professionalism and customer service especial from a managerial stand point! She was defensive and repeated herself 3 times that it is not the same piece and she physical watch them serve a new piece which I don't know what is worse that she "the manager" witness them "serve us another "NEW" piece burnt" AGAIN....or that that they gave us the same burnt piece and just covered it up with more sauce and new cheese! HORRIBLE manager, she lacks people skills, professionalism, customer service and RESPECT! Strongly suggest retraining or demoting someone like that! First time here. Food was excellent. I had a cheeseburger, my grandson had a grilled cheese and my daughter had the carpaccio. Our waiter, David, was very nice and efficient with his service. He recommended the key lime pie which was delicious. The place is very clean and elegant. The front hostess greeted us as soon as we walked in and welcomed us with a smile. I love this place. Simple and elegant, high quality and clean! My normal order from here is either their french dip sandwich with smashed potatoes or the roti dip (which is not on the menu and is their rotisserie chicken in the style of their French Dip sandwich. In other words: A healthier/poultry version of the French Dip). But the last time I came, my boyfriend and I ordered some cocktails: the Cosmopolitan and the 21 Manhattan, and then split a vodka martini. All perfectly prepared. Then for dinner we split their mouth-watering filet Mignon. As always their potatoes on the side were perfect (only once have I had them over salted, but not this time), and the Filet Mignon is easily comparable to Morton's steak. For a cheaper price at J. Alexander's you can get a close match to the steak they offer at Morton's! The service is always on top of things at this location. You can always find an employee that's ready to help. Always a reliable place to eat good food. The food feels like it's well prepped and prepared. I like the ambiance as well and I go here either when I'm in the area and want quality food or date nights. I really like it here, I do, but the price just kills it for me. J.Alexander's is a really nice, casual place with good food, but its price points are just too high for me to feel like it is a great experience overall. The place is almost always packed, so it's not like they are suffering for business, so be prepared for a wait if you come during peak hours. Even though the area is busy, you can usually find parking in the area. The inside is very dimly lit, which adds a lot of atmosphere to the place, which is already nice. Problem being is it can be difficult to sometimes read the menu, so be sure to bring a flashlight if you want to read it. Their menu isn't huge, but it has some good burger, chicken and steak options. The service here is pretty solid despite the fact that the place is pretty packed on most nights. Servers are nice, and the hosts are accommodating. Never had a major issue here, and don't expect to, everyone seems good at their jobs and professional. My most recent trip here I got a blue cheese encrusted filet and fully loaded baked potato for over $35, and it was good; problem being I could have gotten the same thing at a place like Outback Steakhouse for a lot less. That's not knocking the quality of the meal, I liked it, it's just that I felt it was very expensive, even though it is a much nicer local. Salads, burgers, everything is just a tad bit too high in price for my liking. A good place for an intimate date or if you're looking to drop a bit of money on a meal. For sure J.Alexander's is a nice, upscale restaurant for a casual experience. I would gladly up my rating here if the prices were to adjust down by a few dollars, but with the crowds that come here every night, I don't think that will happen. How I love J. Alexanders - any time that I am able to go here, we definitely do. So, this time around we were in the Boca Area and my wife suggested J. Alexanders and my face lite up like a Christmas tree. Now, this plaza is always packed from my past experiences and I should have presumed that inside of the restaurant. The place was packed and happening - a totally different experience that i'm use to from the PGA location, but a good way. There was a wait time for about 30 minutes so we decided to sit at the bar. I had never seen so many attentive servers in one area, holy cow!!! they are on point, quick, responsive and simply awesome!!! It does get a bit loud in there, so you are going to have to raise your voice a bit in order to talk to one another and to the servers. The food is always top notch though - it does not skip a beat from location to location. I love ordering the chicken salad, which I get made fun of because it's a steak house - but the salad for me is out of this world! It has got to be one of the most amazing salads I have ever tasted, perfect combo of chicken, lettuce, avocados, croutons, etc... i recommend trying it to anyone that likes salad. My wife gets the veggie burger, which I have to admit - is one of the best tasting because they do something different to it. They make it out of beets - and you would not think that it was, and they add this special sauce that - she has to take some home! One little secret thing that I will tell you and tell anyone that thinks about ordering the macaroni and cheese is to add some bacon and chicken!!! YES, you can do this - I promise!!! And, the end result will BLOW YOU AWAY!!! It's such an amazing mixture that not sure why people have not thought about it before - I just love doing things differently, and I always think bacon can go on anything! After getting seated we weren't even given utensils. Drink selections for those who don't drink alcohol was very slim to none. Our waitress was mediocre, but she had a zillion tables to serve. Trout is a nice fish, not as meaty as tuna, but not as flaky as flounder. I think the taste was really good but overpowered by the pecan crust. I really enjoy the food here. It's always fresh and tasty. I usually get their Caesar salad and grilled artichokes. Their rotisserie chicken is delicious and not dry. Have tried their prime rib, soups, NY steak, filet mignon and pork, and they are all tasty. The service is superb. Once we order prime rib and we requested medium but the meat was delivered to us as medium well and when we asked the server if possible to get a new one she was extremely nice and right away we got a new one which was delivered to us by the chef, the chef even waited for us to cut the meat and he made sure that it was to our liking. read more
