This past weekend, my family and I came here after a long day of work. We've eaten at this restaurant previously and have had great experiences. We like their food overall. However, this review will be only 2 stars because of the RUDE service we received this past weekend when my family and I were eating at the bar. There was another group present and we could definitely see the difference in how we were treated. Our server was rude, pushy, and treated us as if we were inconveniencing him by being there. He had a "I'm better than this" attitude, just rotten. He took our plates away without saying anything (reached over my mom to get her plate that she was still working on) and here's the kicker - he gave us the receipt without a check cover! Not professional at all, anyone could have seen our card. So confusing especially since we have received a check cover at this restaurant before. As he was speaking to us, we noticed he was holding 2 debit cards from other customers without a check cover, just out in the open. We asked for a check cover, and he threw us a tray - so we just paid in cash for a full family's meals. We haven't had a problem here before, but we will not be going here again. What a shame since I especially love their desserts, but I don't think the inconsistent customer service is worth it. This server just rubbed us the wrong way. Went here because of Yelp reviews. The food was okay. We ordered the beef fajitas for two and they gave us 3 corn tortillas. Weird, right? We requested for more tortillas and they asked how many we needed. Well, at least an extra one to make it even so my partner and I can have 2 each. The beef looked boiled and not grilled...there were tons of onions and just a few pieces of beef. We also ordered a chicken quesadilla for my daughter. She didn't like it at all...it was full of greasy cheap cheese. My son got the flautas and he said they were pretty decent. I think the best thing about this place was the chips and salsa. Also the staff was nice. At the end, it was pretty pricey for Mexican food that tastes okay. Better to find a taco stand and pay 1/5 of the price. read more

The food was bad, there was very little flavor. The server was slow and distracted. Kept forgetting who ordered what and mixed up food. Made very little conversation and at some points not even a word when interacting with us. We will definitely be back! Staff was attentive, personable and accommodating to our vegan food requests. We had the veggie fajitas and subbed whole pinto beans instead of refried (refried contain lard) and subbed whole black beans instead of rice (most Spanish rice is cooked with chicken broth or seasoning). this was alright drove from California on a road trip with my family. Some of the blandest Mexican food I've ever had in my entire life absolutely boring!! I had to ask for salt and pepper just to get through eating it, the beef was cooked okay... but this is some of the worst Mexican food I've ever had. Only saving grace is that they were super nice and let us in the restaurant after 9:30 there closing time. And let us dine in and the waitress was really nice great place for after dark in Florence...If nothing else is open, during the day don't eat here find a Wendy's or something. read more

This was my first visit to this particular Ixtapa and will most certainly be my last. I ordered a Spinach Chimichanga to go. When I got home, I discovered that they gave me a spinach burrito. Now, accidents happen (even though there were only two tables in the entire restaurant, already eating when I picked up my order)...So I called to explain the mishap and to ask if I could drive all the way back and get what I ordered, and the server argued with me and told me they gave me a chimichanga! I explained that I was looking at a plain, not-at-all fried tortilla that was, without question, the spinach burrito (that I recognized because I ordered it from a different Ixtapa in the past). She was very firm, and told me I was wrong and they would not re-make it. I told her I was very disappointed and let her know I would never be returning. Now I am suggesting you don't waste your money here either. P.S. The spinach BURRITO was watery, and bland and there was maybe a quarter cup of beans along side it. I was of course told this by my roommate, since the spinach BURRITO I was served comes with mushrooms (which I am allergic to). I couldn't even eat the horrible meal they decided to serve me that I paid $14 dollars for! This is the first negative review I have ever written, but total unwillingness to fix your own mistake is unacceptable. read more

I had the Ixtapa chicken burrito for lunch today. It had chicken, rice, and beans inside. It was topped with red sauce, tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole. It was good. My husband, my daughter, my mother, and step-dad all enjoyed their food.The service was impeccable. All wait staff that I saw, including the owner refilled our glasses, asked if we needed anything, and were very attentive. I would come back definitely. read more

A Most Excellent Restaurant I live in Bandon, 80 miles south of Florence. I was passing through with a friend and we were hungry so we went in to Ixtapa. The place was mild-to-medium busy; we were seated promptly by a friendly employee. We ordered, didn't take too long to get our food and it was excellent. It was my friend's first time at a Mexican restaurant and he was impressed with the sampler platter. I got the shrimp burrito and it was large and excellent with plenty of decent-sized shrimp. Three different employees stopped to ask if all was well: our server who was pleasant and happy, and two other employees. The decor was nice, not overdone, the rug was nice and clean; so was the restroom, something too many places skimp on. Everything was 100%; zero complaints. I will be back!!!!!!! read more

From having the perfect amount of change to letting us borrow a phone charger to staying open late for 4 sweaty, tired customers, Ixtapa exceeded expectations. And then they served our food. I would absolutely recommend this location. Not just because of the delicious flavors and amount of food but because the staff was unbelievably friendly and so helpful and attentive to all of our asks-- no matter how ridiculous they were. Chicken nachos with a quarter served on a separate plate? Done. Spanish coffee with extra whipped cream and two straws? Done. Split the check three ways? Done. $18 in cash to exchange for quarters? we ordered a to-go order on Friday 8/20/21 at the florence oregon location our total was $38.29 we tipped $5 for a complete total of $43.29...well what happened was ixtapa tipped themselves the $43.29 on top of the $38.29 (which I HAD assumed was an accident) and charged us $81.58, now in any transaction my bank will say "pending" next to it for a few days but the bank gives the MERCHANT the money and it is pulled out of my account (so you don't overdraft obviously), because it said pending next to it, a man, who I assumed was the manager, turns out it wasn't.. but he told me there was "nothing he can do because it says pending" which is not true...I told him and the lady with him that all they have to do is cancel the transaction and charge me the correct amount, he just continued to say there wasn't anything he could do and that he "wasn't stealing" from me...which I NEVER accused anyone of stealing, the first thing I told the woman when I walked in was I knew what mistake had happened and that they "accidentally" tipped themselves that much. I'm then told by the woman that "it will get resolved" but was the only information I was given..mind you after I had been crying in front everyone eating there, VERY embarrassing, just shows they just wanted me to leave..they didn't take ANY information down so how was it to be resolved? Monday they finally messaged me back (after reading my previous messages the day before) and said they could fix it now if I came down but I had to show proof the word "pending" was no longer there..or I could give them my ADDRESS and they will come there if I can't come...uhm super inappropriate..I told them I couldn't come because it still said pending. It went away the next day after speaking with the bank and so I went in and at first the lady said she couldn't do anything because the manager isn't there now...I asked if she could call him, she said yes. I said this should of been an easy fix by canceling and recharging me and she replied with the nastiest attitude "you're right it should of been easy, that's why we waited for you ALL DAY yesterday"...excuse me..I told u I couldn't come in so u most certainly weren't waiting for me ALL DAY...ridiculous. they call the manager and give me my cash back and "apologized" which you know they are not sorry at all, just sorry they got caught. I emailed the owner in Stanton OR, with no reply so if you have any concerns don't even bother. Florence oregon has several LOCAL OWNED Mexican restaurants, Rosa's, Los compandres, amigo burrito, and Vennys to name a few... don't spend your money here, go support a local businesses and be treated with respect. I read a lot of reviews that this place was really good. We came from out of town and first of all the front door was open at the restaurant which allowed so many flies into the restaurant. Then I ordered the Super Nachos which in the menu said beat in town right! Well it was so small and it was 13.99!!!! Stopped here after a long hike around Heceta Head. We were promptly seated and served with a handshake and a smile! Chips, salsa and ice water were immediately served. Chips were warm and the salsa homemade (and it was good!). I ordered the Ixtapa combination plate, which had chicken crema and a chicken chimichanga. It was delicious and huge portions, so I had left overs! My friend ordered the shrimp salad and it was full of nice big shrimps! The only complaint is that we ordered smoothies and they tasted very sweet and artificial. They were more like a slushy with a dollop of whipped cream on top. Service was impeccable; our chip basket was never empty and our salsa never ran dry! Being from Texas, we found this place very authentic and delicious. We lunched on combination plates that included Ground Beef tacos and enchiladas, and the beef was flavorful. We had tacos and enchiladas made from the chicken, which is all white meat, and found it to be perfect. Nachos were great as was the guacamole. We usually judge a place by guacamole and salsa. Both were tasty and well made. Service was perfect and we found prices a good value. We will eat here again. read more

It has the best food in town. The Mexican pizza is delicious. The Enchiladas are delicious. You can get the Enchiladas Banderas, enjoy 3 different enchiladas, and split it with people at the same time. The drinks are very delicious, fruity, and a decent kick. Best Mexican food I had on my 3 week trip to Oregon. Although I ate mostly seafood on this trip I had to try this place when in Florence. My combo plate was very good and reasonably priced. Cadillac margarita was best I had in Oregon. Went back the next night for an after dinner drink. Get the Ixtapa coffee, you won't regret it. That bartender deserved a big tip. read more
