We went after 7 to eat. We were greeted, seated, brought chips and asked out drink orders very promptly. It was a little messy but by no means dirty in the restauraunt. The decor was interesting ..lots of things on the walls to look at. The salsa was a little spicy for me but very flavorful. The chips were good. My partner ordered a burrito Chipotle...he now has a new favorite! The meat in the burrito cooked to perfection. Having been ill recently, I kept mine to just a side of black beans and rice. The beans were cooked just right and seasoned in a tasty way, slightly salty, but not to salty. The rice was really good. Next time I made some cheese to it. The price was very reasonable. We has so much fun at lunch yesterday at Ixtapa! The food was delicious, our favorite had to be the garlic shrimp platter, we also had a quesadilla that was next level. The staff at Ixtapa was so friendly and attentive to us. Lastly I can't sign off without mentioning the vibe: we sat in the bar and it was lovely, twinkle lights, music playing, and margaritas flowing. From the moment you walk in until the moment you leave, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. I had the Marco Blanco burrito with shredded beef (oh, so tender), tender rice , and beans. The burrito had a delicious cream sauce over the top with cheese, sour cream, and a dab of guacamole. The horchata had just enough sweetness and cinnamon that complimented my burrito extremely well. This is the number one Mexican restaurant in town! The queso dip with roasted jalapeños (which were promptly chopped up and mixed in) is outstanding! Chose the fajita burrito which was stuffed with incredible filling and so huge I could only eat a third of it. The salsa is perfect and assuredly bought a container for the hotel. This was a pleasant visit. The food was okay, but not fantastic. Our server did not check on us but the manager took charge and checked on us. If I'm in town, I'll visit this location again but won't go out of my way to visit. I think they did an okay job even with those wearing masks. This place is located at the north side of Florence with plenty of parking spots available. Their Mexican food is fresh, delicious, and inexpensive. On top of that, the portions here are huge, without sacrificing quality. While you wait, they offer free chips and salsa. Then we hadnt been in several months and we went the other day ... Mediocre food , cold chips , cold salsa ... We asked what changed and they changed ownership 2 months ago .... Ahhh bummer ! We typically always go for seafood when visiting the coast, but we opted for Mexican food this time. Seating was fast and the booths are very comfortable. Drinks and food were out fast as well. Portions were very generous and everything was priced pretty good. Only thing that was not good at all was the kids burger. I am from Texas. Folks, we have the best Tex-Mex food on the planet. I have been in Oregon for over a year now. I thought I would have to wait until I returned home for this delicacy to be done "just right." Wrong. This place is 98 miles from where I am temporarily living and I drive that far to eat here. I have eaten here only three times and I will already drive that far. I always have some variation of enchiladas. I am particular about my enchiladas. I am also particular about my margaritas. I have struggled to find decent Mexican food in Oregon. It's hard to make it inedible, but around here it doesn't seem to be outstanding. My family and I have been to Ixtapa in Florence twice and both times we were delighted with the food, the service, the atmosphere, the drinks, and the afterglow of a really good meal, especially considering my experiences in other places. It's a great stop after a day at the beach or a walkabout in Old Town, and the prices are reasonable for the portions. You're going to leave stuffed. Their selection of food spans a good variety, it's absolutely delicious, and it comes out promptly and hot. I do love the chips, they are fresh and warm and impossible to deny. The parking is great, and it's cute inside. I'd definitely go there with a big party if the occasion arose. My kids love it and they're always sleepy and quiet on the ride home from the food coma. read more
