Thin crust, not a lot of dough to fill up on. Pepperoni has good rich flavor. Not overloaded with a lot of sauce, which is nice. Large Caesar salad is a giant portion. Enough to share x2. The service-Friendly and attentive. The gal helping our table had rude customers at the other table in the room we were sitting in. She handled it like a champ and never let it ruin our service. The food was just alright, one person liked their crab melt but we were not a fan of the chowder or garlic mashed potatoes and the lobster ravioli was just okay. The crab cakes were delicious! The food is normally excellent. I tried their chicken piccata for the first time.. sadly, I was disappointed. The sauce that goes on that meal should be be made of butter, wine, and lemon and not thick, but it appears that a thickening ingredient was added like cheese, flour or cornstarch, which was very disappointing. 1285 Restobar has been our go-to dinner spot in Florence. They recently got new owners and on a trip to the coast, we just had to go again. We have NEVER been disappointed. Until today. Friday night dinner. They weren't terribly busy. We were immediately seated. Twenty minutes later, they came for our order. Quite a while later, my wife finally got her clam chowder, but I did not get my Caesar salad. Her chowder was bland and thick (we later found out it was the last bowl of the evening, so it was the bottom of the pot). I kept trying to get our server's attention and when I finally did, he went and got my Caesar salad that had been sitting for a while with some excuse about getting confused. By this time, my wife (who is a slow eater) had already finished her chowder. We commented to each other how we generally like to eat together when eating out. Our Wild Alaska Salmon (Palermo Style) finally came out (we did a split plate, as usual), it was pretty good. A bit dry, but the flavors were good. We had a side of the Pasta San Marzano and, after we added mozzarella and red pepper flakes, it was pretty good. Overall, just fair. I've always given them five stars, but have dropped it to four. I could have gone three, but want to give them the benefit of the doubt. I imagine taking on a new venture can be challenging for new owners. I hope they get it together and get back to being pleasantly memorable for their guests. read more

By the time it came out we were ready to leave and had it boxed up. I asked the waiter to take it off the bill and he said he can't do that and blamed the kitchen. My best friend and I came in here on a Sunday just right after they opened. We were instantly treated by a very family server who was absolutely phenomenal throughout our entire meal. My husband and I were celebrating our 8-year wedding anniversary the day that we dined at 1285 Restobar. Our morning had started inland with a visit to the Cascades Raptor Center (a must-visit), but shortly after we decided to escape to the cool, foggy climate of the coast. After all, OR was experiencing a heat wave inland. I have seen multiple reviews complaining about the lack of service, but we had a different experience (and no, I didn't even mention that it was our anniversary). It was a busy Sunday afternoon, and we walked up to the entrance and asked for a table. The hostess seated us promptly outside. While I would have preferred an indoor table, I also didn't mind dining al fresco. It was a beautiful cloudy day on the coast and I wanted to soak up the fresh air. We were handed menus immediately and I honestly had pre-chosen 1285 Restobar for our anniversary lunch because they served a take on steamed mussels that I have never had before--with Italian sausage! I could not say no to that pairing of course. We started with cocktails, as is our anniversary meal tradition, which were both so reasonably priced. We are used to paying at least $15 back in our home state, so $12 was great. The menu was right--the pistachio cocktail was addicting!! I loved my pomegranate martini too, and both paired nicely with the food we ordered. Since we didn't feel like getting individual entrees, and were already going to be sharing the mussels, we decided to order a pizza to share. The meat lovers was the best bang for our buck and we went with a medium, which turned out to be the perfect size. Our mussels arrived first, and we had plenty of time to enjoy them. Our jovial server (cannot remember his name, alas) checked in on us every so often and made sure to ask if we were enjoying our food. The broth that the mussels came in was to die for. I almost felt like there wasn't enough bread to soak up that liquid gold. The Italian sausage pairing was as good as I imagined, and the feta cheese was the perfect touch of tanginess. I also liked the addition of the diced tomatoes, which helped cut the richness of the dish. The mussels were perfectly steamed, and we savored each and every one of them. I'm glad the dish was served with a spoon, since we took turns enjoying the broth to the last scoop. We were given about 20 min to enjoy our mussels, and then our pizza arrived. It was piping hot with a beautiful thin crust and a generous helping of meat. The medium was honestly big for us, especially with the appetizer, and we knew that we would have leftovers for sure. My husband and I are not ones to order pizza normally at a restaurant, but I'm glad we got to try one from 1285 Restobar! It was absolutely delightful. The pizza was served with cheese and chili flakes on the side, but we didn't even use any, since we were enjoying the flavors of the pizza itself. We ate half and then got the rest to go. I'm so glad I chose 1285 Restobar for our anniversary meal, and would love to return to try other dishes this cute little restaurant has to offer the next time we visit OR! read more

This was our second night in Florence and we always saw a lot of people at 1285 Restobar so we decided to try them out. We were quoted a 5-10 min wait for our party of 8 without reservations. We ended up waiting for about 15 minutes in which we saw a lady Patel parked hit the Tesla behind her while backing out of the stall. We were seated and then waiting a good 10 min before our server showed up. Thankfully the table had water pitchers for us to drink because of the wait. I ordered the seafood pasta with cheese Alfredo, my kids got a cheese pizza, and my husband got the Dungeness crab melt. We had a long wait for the food so thankfully the bruschetta we ordered helped ease the wait. A little disappointing that there were only three slices of mozzarella to 6 tomato's. My seafood pasta was great because the Alfredo sauce wasn't heavy. More like a cream butter sauce. I found the scallops to be very good with no sand. The shrimp was big and flavorful. The crab melt was good but I'm not a fan of covering my crab with cheese. The ambiance was busy and bustling and we were right by the bar. There were additional seats outside the front as well as outside in the back. The pain point of our dinning experience was the waitress was pretty much mia. She checked on us once and then we saw her at the bar for most of the evening. She was nice but we waited 20 min for the check because she was tending to the bar. With kids who have very little patience part of our party had to go outside to wait. Overall, the seafood pasta was good, but the rest of the food was kind of lackluster. Not sure what the popularity of the place was all about. Maybe if we were able to get dinner done in an hour and not 2 I would have added one more star. read more

We ordered the chicken Parmesan sandwich and it was delicious! Not too heavily breaded. Lightly grilled. Provolone and Parmesan cheese. The marinara sauce was on the side, which I appreciated. It comes with a side Caesar salad. Perfect accompaniment! We also had the meat ball sandwich which my husband raved about! We had a fantastic experience at 1285 Restobar. Stopped in on a Friday night on Labor Day weekend and our table of four was sat immediately in the charming enclosed patio in the back. The waitstaff quickly took our drink orders and continued to check on us throughout the evening. The menu is large and most of the entrees come with a free salad which is such a bonus. We went on a Friday night at about 6. We were seated immediately and got a table in the front room by the window. If was warm and comfortable. I had the Alaskan salmon with crab sauce and garlic mashed potatoes. It was excellent! Very moist and rich! The potatoes were the best garlic mashed I have ever had. My wife had the chicken piccata and was equally impressed. She also had a pomegranate lemon martini. Spendy at $14, but quite delicious. We will be back! read more

Visiting this incredibly beautiful and colorful part of the country we wanted to stay a few days in Florence. After walking and talking with locals, this place came up as a frequent recommendation. It didn't disappoint. The food would certainly put this at least in the 4 star range. We started with drinks (Malbec and beers) with all little Caprese....great start. From there we didn't have a clue. We simply handed it all over to our server, Abby. Stop there! Let me just say, this young lady was fantastic. Her energy, enthusiasm and which we soon to find out, her knowledge of the menu, were spot on. She chose the Seafood pasta and "Chicken, Garlic and Artichoke Pizza". Both were excellent. So why stop there. She ordered our dessert as well, Crème Brûlée. Again....nailed it. The food was only matched, sorry, exceeded, by Abby's interaction making this a truly memorable experience for us! I just had the pleasure of dining at 1285 Restobar. It was surprisingly delicious! On a street that is filled with tourist traps, this place stands out. I ordered the Prawn Scampi pasta. It came with a fresh little salad that had the best Ranch dressing, totally original in flavors. The Pasta was cooked to perfection, the wine/garlic sauce was mouth watering! I also wanted to try their Clam Chowder so I ordered a cup. I won't be forgetting about this chowder anytime soon! It was thick,creamy, full of clams that has a Smokey flavor! My husband and I had a wonderful evening here Friday. The place is a cute little restaurant and bar. Nice décor. Love that you can see the pizza crusts being thrown from some of the tables. There is back covered patio and front sidewalk seating too! We had the Seafood Pasta. The Alfredo sauce was lovely, light and the spices were perfect. Fish was flaky and tender, scallops were perfect and not rubbery and the shrimp was just lovely. Perfect mix and enough to split between the two of us. The kitchen did the split so no mess and fuss for us! The fresh rosemary bread was delicious! Service was excellent. Wine was good and not too spendy. To finish everything off the Crème Brûlée was perfect! The people next to us were return costumers from a town about 45 minutes south celebrating their 20th anniversary. (Don't take names when people wait out front for a table, won't split checks for a party of 7, automatic 20% gratuity for table of seven in spite very poor service, extra % charge if you use a credit card...) My experience with this restaurant is this: they make the best pizza in town but they treat the public with disdain. It permeates almost every encounter we've had with them since we moved here three years ago, so much so that if I dine in, I do it somewhere else, that is more appreciative of our patronage. Our choices were excellent: mussels in broth, spaghetti with marinara, and lasagna. Added a nice bottle of Italian wine for under $40 and our total was $101 before tip. EXCELLENT food!
