Beautiful views, good food, and really good service! Mo's is a spot my family has been coming to for years on our yearly visit and the tradition will continue.
I arrived at opening-11am. Restaurant was empty and I chose a table by the water. Super friendly homegrown waitstaff made for a charming welcome. Ordered the clam strips and a cup of chowder. It was early so I don't think the chowder had come to temp in the pot so it was not to my temp preference - tasty but not ground breaking. Clam strips were hot and crispy. I lived in New England for a few years so my Gloucester taste buds could have taken more clams less potatoes.
This is ur typical seafood on the waterfront. Arrived around 1ish for a late lunch and was seated almost immediately. We ordered the fettuccine Alfredo w/ grilled shrimp (which had crispy breadcrumbs)-- this happened to be our favorite since it was well seasoned and al dente. We ordered blackened fish tacos, it was a little dry and wished it had more flavor. We also tried the combo platter which included fried clams (our favorite, suprised we haven't tried this before), fried rockfish, and fried shrimp- tasted mid, as expected. They came with sides od your choice, we went with coleslaw and bay shrimp added- pleasantly sweet, and clam chowder-pretty decent. The seating is nice so that you can view the river, but the sun does reflect quite a bit. So the lighting is a little difficult as reflected in my photos.
I went here for lunch with a friend today. We arrived around 1:15pm and waited in line for a table for about 15 minutes. We were brought to a table with a lovely view of the water and took our time with the menu. Our server had a trainee with her and was very kind and patient with her. We ordered the shrimp artichoke dip as an appetizer, the crispy chicken burger with onion rings, and the cod sandwich with clam chowder. The dip was so good! It was very oily, a little too oily for my taste, but the flavor was fantastic and it wasn't fishy at all. I do wish they gave us more bread, though, as we ran out and still had dip leftover. The chicken sandwich was good, but the chicken was too small so some bites were just bun and lettuce. The onion rings were fine but needed more salt and seasoning. The chowder was alright but was oily and a bit gritty. I've had better clam chowder down the street for sure. The staff were busy but nice. We weren't left alone for too long. I did wish we were given water refills, the whole meal we only had one glass of water each which isn't enough when you are eating salty seafood. The restaurant was pretty clean and tables were turning over quickly. They have their own dedicated parking lot, but if you can't find a spot there is also plenty of street parking. All in all this was a fine place to eat. It was fairly affordable for a tourist town, but it was pretty oily. The dip was the best part, even with how oily it was. Without the dip this would have been a 3-star visit, but the dip definitely bumped it up a bit.
Nice place right on the river. Great service. Food was just okay. Clam chowder was mostly potatoes. Fish was undercooked in the fish and chips.
I absolutely loved this classic Pacific Northwest seafood dish and savored every bite! The restaurant offers a fantastic view of the Siuslaw River and the ocean. Plus, the service was prompt and attentive.
Visiting Oregon and was told to visit Mo's...I did and it was a good experience. I do not give 5 stars on my first visit, keep this in mind when you see I gave 4 stars. Seated right away for a late weekday lunch. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house but I loved my seat right along the water. Server was engaged and responsive. Eating by myself I was a pretty easy table but he did not forget about me. Famous for the clam chowder, I have never had chowder before but I left wanting more clam chowder, at least that clam chowder. My entree was butterflied breaded shrimp. I could have ate double the amount provided they were so good and the cocktail sauce was dynamite. If I ever return to Florence I would surely go back to Mo's!!

Now, the food--starting with the chowder. It was delicious, packed with large chunks of potato and generously sized clams. A very solid start to the meal. The French fries were cooked perfectly crispy, though a bit on the bland side--definitely better with ketchup. The salad, on the other hand, was a standout. Easily a 10/10. The shrimp were great, and the freshness and crispness of the greens really made it shine. For the main courses, the shrimp melt was fantastic--great portion size and loaded with both cheese and shrimp. They definitely didn't skimp. The shrimp skewers with fettuccine Alfredo were absolutely amazing and full of flavor. Lastly, the fish tacos had some highs and lows. The portion size was great, and both the sauce and salsa were very enjoyable. However, the fish itself was a bit bland and relied on the toppings to carry the flavor. Overall, I loved my experience and would absolutely recommend checking this place out!
I was driving through town around lunchtime and spotted this restaurant--it caught my eye with its interesting setup and water view. Getting a table was quick and easy, and the host was friendly and welcoming. Our server was kind and attentive as well, which made the experience pleasant. The food itself was okay--not particularly memorable, but decent enough. What stood out more was the overall atmosphere and the relaxed vibe. They also have a small souvenir and gift shop that my kids were thrilled to explore (and spend money in!)
I still dream about this place. Came in 2024 and never had anything better. The clam chowder bowl is to die for. Dining inside and looking out to the water was so peaceful. I love the little gift shop too.

I wanted so badly to give this place a 5/5, but the clam chowder was just underwhelming. I don't mind a thicker and creamy base for my chowder, but I struggled to find the clam in it, or even a clam flavor. It was very hot and buttery, so it wasn't a complete miss. The rest of the meal was excellent and I was impressed with how crispy the fries were. The view from the table was excellent. It's not a high dining place, but you will feel comfortable. My only complaint about the service itself was that I couldn't find my server to get my check, the lady at the counter was able to check me out no problem.
I remember Mo's clam chowder when I was a kid in the 1970s. I was rather disappointed with what it has become. It's more of a potato and bacon soup with some clams in it. Service was good and place was clean, but my childhood memories remain unrefreshed with what I used to think was the most awesome chowder ever. Guess the commercialization of the brand diluted the flavor.
There were a couple of glitches, but I will still give it four stars, because overall the food was very good. I'm in Florence for the night, so, seafood, duh! :) I found this place online. They have restaurants up and down the Oregon coast, and they also have one at Portland International Airport. I like the way that the airport. Put the spotlight on Portland and Oregon businesses. I liked the place. It has a very nice atmosphere. Nice and simple, nothing fancy. Nice decorations. And yes, of course they have a gift shop. My server was Noelle. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. I decided to start with two of the oyster shooters. They were extremely high-quality oysters. The problem was, is that they came with a lot of cocktail sauce on the top. I wish she would've given me the option of having the sauce on the side. It was a good cocktail sauce, it had just a little bit of horseradish in it, enough that I noticed it, but I thought it took away from the oysters a little bit. I would not have put as much on my oysters. The main course was a total home run. Slumgullion clam chowder. Basically, clam chowder with Oregon Bay shrimp on top. This place is known for their chowder, with the same family recipe being used for decades. It was an excellent chowder. Thick and rich. There was even a little pat of butter on the side to add to the richness. The shrimp gave the chowder another dimension. It made it more of a seafood chowder than just a clam chowder, but both the shrimp and the clams played very well together. For dessert, Noel mentioned that they had marionberry cobbler. I decided to go for it. The filling itself was amazing. Lots of berries, and it wasn't overly sweet. The only problem is, the dough on top wasn't cooked. It was just a little flap of uncooked dough. It was getting late in the evening, so I just ate around the dough. Like I said, the filling itself was absolutely amazing. But come on, how did this get out of the kitchen? Overall, for what I got, the price was reasonable, and they do offer a military/veterans discount.. everything was overall good, there were just a few glitches here and there. I would definitely come back, especially for that chowder, and the next time I would have the cocktail sauce on the side with those oysters. I think there needs just to be a little bit more attention to detail. Thanks. read more
While we were initially suspicious that Mo's was living on its reputation, we decided to have lunch there in Florence. On a Tuesday, parking in August was tough. When we walked in, we were lucky enough to get a window table. Our server, Noel, was right there to help us out. We ordered two entrées, the combination platter and the fried clam platter. Both came with two sides and we ordered the same things. A cup of clam chowder and french fries. The clam chowder was filled with clams and they put a dab of butter on top to add some richness. I don't know how they do it, but both platters came out within minutes. Both were hot. The combination platter came with a chunk of fried cod, fried shrimp, and fried clams. Both of us thought our food was really good. I'm happy to report that I recommend Mo's's in Florence anyone. read more
Mo's is an Oregon Coast institution. It isn't fine dining, but it isn't a dive. It's just sometimes what you want because it's familiar. It's usually loud with children and older folks talking, and that's okay. I go there for the fish and chips. It's really all about expectations. When I look for a fish and chips joint based on good reviews, and I am not blown away, I can leave disappointed. However, when I know going in not to expect miracles, above average can be what the doctor ordered. Enter Mo's. I had the cod. I prefer battered, but the fish isn't bad for breaded. It's delicate and properly fried, and without the taste of overworked oil. I give it a 6 out of 10 score. The fries have a coating of some sort that helps them stay crispy. Whoever invented doing that needs to win a James Beard Award. I also had clam chowder, which was rock solid, but my socks are still on my feet. To drink I had a Virgin Mary, which is a Bloody Mary without the vodka. It was pretty good. I highly recommend it for those behind the wheel who crave that distinctive flavor. While staying on the Oregon coast we happened to be lucky enough to try the clam chowder here at Mo's. I have to say it probably the best clam chowder I've ever had. It had just the perfect amount of bacon, potatoes and clam's that had me coming back for more. Three days in a row to be exact, lol don't judge me. The service was good and the place had great views of the river. Side note this location doesn't have a patio so if you have a pet you will have to order to go. But there are table near the docks to enjoy this clam chowder masterpiece near by. read more

Inside out: I mean the location can't get much better, inside and outside we're clean and we walked so I can't really say much to the parking situation, but it seemed to have ample parking. Service: our server was super sweet and friendly as heck! The place was very busy and he seemed incredibly calm and kind. Food: My parents had the clam chowder and they weren't divinely impressed but said it was good. Just not wildly a cut above the rest. I had a fish sandwich- it was average. I wasn't blown away by the quality of anything but I wasn't dissatisfied either. read more

Dining in Old Town [Florence OR] They said a trip to Florence is not complete without a meal at Mo's so before heading back to Coos Bay we had dinner here. We were seated by the window which was nice but, unfortunately, the sun had already set and was dark outside so we weren't able to watch fishing boats pass or see sea lions play in the water. We wanted to try "Mo's world famous clam chowder" so we ordered a cup each to try. It was a bit on the salty side (maybe just my taste buds). Definitely wouldn't claim it to be "world famous." I also ordered a plate of cod fish & chips (kids meal size). I wasn't that hungry. I wouldn't be able to finish 4 pieces of fish. Two was good. Hubby ordered the shrimp skewer. The shrimps were grilled in garlic butter (it was very good... my hubby shared). For dessert we shared a Marionberry Cobbler w/ vanilla ice cream. This was new to my tastebuds. Warm and fruity on the inside with a yummy buttery crunch crust. We asked to add a scoop of vanilla ice cream (optional) and it was heavenly... our server mentioned that the marionberry was invented at Oregon State University In 1948. Wow cool! Classic place to stop for lunch. They are known for the clam chowder in a bread bowl, but I mixed it up with an oyster shooter and a shrimp salad melt. The sandwich bread was great. The dining room has great views of the Siuslaw River and people crabbing (I think that's what they're doing!). Our waitress was very nice and attentive. read more

We stopped for lunch here after seeing a huge billboard advertising the BEST clam chowder!! So we jumped. They were not kidding. 5 stars for the chowder. Our server was very pleasant and gave good recommendations. The view and ambience can't be beat. You're right on the water. And for an extra treat we got to see some SEALS playing in the water. Wow! It's definitely a touristy place as they have souvenirs on the way out. If You're ever in Florence Or go Eat here! read more
So every time I come into Eugene, we generally make a trip to the coast and with that being said, we generally stop at Mo's for a late lunch. They always seem to impress here and they have a nice variety of food. We came on memorial day so they were a little crowded and service was a little slow, but not bad at all. Our waiter took care of all of our needs. they also have restaurants that I know of in Newport, Oregon and in the Portland airport may be some other places also... Great stuff read more
