Me and group of friends, entered this establishment and were quickly seated. Despite this, only bad things would follow. What we were greeted with, was a disgusting perversion of sea food. I came in here with my husband and two friends earlier in the week, and had a fantastic experience. Like I was totally surprised at how fantastic it was. We walked in and a cook greeted us at the door as he held it open. One friend asked if the clam chowder had onions in it because he's allergic. The cook wasn't entirely sure, but volunteered to check, and then brought a sample out. My friend can eat onions if they're cooked completely, like stewed in a soup all day level cooked. But anything raw or par-cooked and the results are disastrous. It's usually obvious one or two bites in to something with onions how it'll go, and it went well this time. Our server, I didn't get her name, was fantastic as well. She chatted with us like she fit right in to the group and was part of it, as I poked fun at my husband and friend. I'm always amazed when someone treats being picky and having questions as no big deal. So many wait staff get impatient and cranky. This lovely lady rolled with all of it like everybody was like this. Our food was delicious. My husband had the captains platter. The friend who is allergic to onions and I both had beer battered halibut and chips. Our other friend had chicken strips and fries. We also had copious amounts of clam chowder, with shrimp on the side because I don't eat shrimp. But it was left out so the ones who wanted it could add it in to their bowls. When we were in the gift shop area after we finished eating, the cook who greeted us originally stepped out to check in with my friend about the clam chowder and make certain he was still ok after eating it because of the onions. I already had a great impression of the staff, but that really cemented it for me. Not many people care that much to stop and check in after answering a question. That shows me they care about the customers and it isn't just a job to them. It seemed like all of the staff love working there, and it shows. Would I return? Yes! This experience was amazing, especially compared to past experiences and I'm so glad we stopped in. If every trip in is like this, I'll keep coming back. Because the amazing staff is really what made this experience so great. Horrible Experience We order drinks and appetizers. Drinks come we order food. 30 minutes to hr later we still have no appetizer or food. We start noticing others who arrive after getting their food. We ask what's going on is there a manager? The waitress says they are busy and the manager is helping them cook. Which I don't believe was true and I lie I could see her standing there. She then said we were going to give you deals on our food but they were prioritizing smaller tables. There were only four of us eating. So that didn't make any sense. You don't prioritize meals at restaurants by size. You serve in order they come. We waited 1.5hr of our time before we gave up and had to leave. It might been okay but they never did bring appetizer or tells what going on if there even really was anything in the kitchen other than poor management and service. Then we just ask for our bill. We should have just left that's how bad it was but I waited for the bill. This was the time manager should have came over apologized for inconvenience and drinks on us. No the have me a bill for 42 for soda of meal we never got. Which now from seeing what it says on yelp we may be better off then a bill for $200 for below average food and service. read more

Always a busy and hopping place! Got in about 30 ish mins. Not too bad maybe a tad Sooner. Waited outside with our group of friends. Went in and promptly shown to our seats. Our waitress was so kind! This place has character and beautiful views of the bay. Everyone was super nice, helpful and cheerful. The seafood was fresh and delicious. They even have a beyond burger on the menu for vegetarians. Remove the cheese and mayo, they then offer fresh sliced avocado- so good! The place was busy but pretty fast turn overs on window seats. One last thing we noticed was their clam chowder was served in bread bowls. So cute :). So stop there it will be worth the investment and your tummy will thank you! read more

Wow. I can't believe I'm writing this review. This place is horrible. 10 minutes in after being seated someone checked if we had our order taken. We said not yet. 20 minutes ho bye (30 minutes total) I get up and asked the host if someone could take our order. She said I'm sorry we are really busy. I looked around and only 75% of the tables occupied. Finally we get our order taken after 10 more minutes of waiting. They bring us our meals then 15 minutes later our chowder shows up. Many of you recently read the horror story of Kim and my horrific experience with Mo's seafood and chowder in Florence, Oregon. Briefly, the wait was ridiculous, the food what horrible and the bill was through the roof. It's been about 2 weeks now, and someone at Mo's FINALLY responded. Here's what I got this morning... "Hi Doug, I am so sorry to see that you had this experience. I will take this feedback and pass it along to our team in Florence to ensure we are doing our best to provide our guest with the best quality food, service, and experience while dining at Mo's. I'm so sorry to see you were disappointed in your visit with us and hope we can make it up to you in the future. Riley" and here is my reply... "Thank you for your meaningless form letter. This was my first time visiting Florence. I had been to the Mo's in Newport, so I decided to go again. Just as I expected, it did not disappoint at all! Quite the contrary, I had such a great time there. I went on a labor day weekend, so the wait time was quite long, but I got a chance to walk around and checked out the shops. Once I walked inside, I was amazed at how pretty the interior is. Clean glass panels that give a 180 degree view of the bay; view of people catching crabs and having a good time on a sunny day; the modern and wooden interior design that gave me a feeling of inside a cabin and a boat that serves the freshest of seafood. I ordered the halibut basket and clam chowder. The halibut and fries were steamy hot and so fresh and tender that just melted in my mouths. My clam chowder cup had so much clams in it, and it was so worth the buck! I asked the server for a new bottle of ketchup as it was running low, and I further ordered a drink when he came back. I apologized for making him walk back and forth so many times. To my surprise, Anthony answered "haha that's alright, as long as you're having a great time" (something like that), and omg I could cry if I wanted to!!! What an amazing customer service. The best clam chowder I've had from Florence to Coos Bay! In a bread bowl is the ONLY way to eat it. You have the option to add bay shrimp on top. I've frequented Mo's many times in my life because I'm familiar with the eatery and it seems to be everywhere along the coast. I've only ever walked out mildly satisfied. I beg you, do not come here if that is what you're in search for! There are plenty of other places that whip up chowder fit for Gods, but Mo's isn't one of them. After a fun day in Florence I had decided to go to Mo's because, like before, it was just there and available. I ordered Mo's Clam Chowder (New England Style with Bacon. Sourdough Cannonball Bowl $10.50). It took our server nearly 20 minutes to scoop some subpar chowder into a stale bread bowl and bring it to me. I'm pretty sure she forgot about my order at first. The establishment was not full at all. She had me, and one other table. Furthermore she failed to apologize or even acknowledge the extremely long wait time. Even more disappointing was the absolute pig slosh that was served. It tasted absolutely horrible! Each bite left a sour taste in my mouth. I'd bet a few meals that this was reheated from the day before. The bread bowl was also stale AF. I couldn't eat it. I wanted to ask for some fresh chowder but our lousy excuse of a waitress never returned. I tossed my money on the table and left. And then I spent the rest of the day with a horrible stomach ache leaving me bed bound watching re-runs of Jersey Shore. I can't imagine ever wanting to return but I probably will because I'm a huge believer in second chances. Every single business has their bad days. Plus there's a small part of me that values Mo's existance due to so many prior visits. I just happen to come on a bad day after I finally decided to embrace my inner foodie. Food was fresh, stuck with simple combo platter and it was tasty. MIL got the avocado shrimp salad and said it was delicious. Younger kids were not into seafood, so got the chicken strips and grilled cheese, and they reported it was great. No oyster stew on the menu here lol, which suits us just fine because it sucks at the Newport location. Clam chowder is really good. I'd recommend this location over the one in Newport. read more

We are new to town and visited MO's for lunch yesterday. It wasn't super busy, but there was only one server. He was fantastic! Very helpful with ordering and the food came out so fast. The chowder was yummy and hot. We also ordered grilled shrimp with Cajun seasoning and fried clams. Both were absolutely delicious. We sat next to the window with a beautiful view of the Siuslaw River. It started to rain, and even hail a little while we ate. It was a great experience. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone. I've been going to Moe's since the 80's and love there food. Over the years None of my family has had with the wait for a table eagerly patient to have a cup of Chowder or their shrimp cabbage salad. So imagine my surprise when we walked in today and were seated immediately. Changes are taking place around technology. Waitlist text messages and computer based ordering. Even the traditional plastic baskets have been replaced. Point blank the food was what I expected, the service was outstanding, and I didn't have to stand in line. Good stuff. read more

The seafood was subpar. Clam Chowder should be called bacon and potato chowder because clams were playing where's Waldo nowhere to be found. The seats were beyond lousy. Sitting for over an hour and a half on benches with no backs now I have a sore back. Atleast have chairs guys come on. It took forever to get drinks, food etc. they spilled all of our chowders when dropping them on the table. The place is very loud and busy. They have you wait in line through the gift area to get a table instead of taking names like most restaurants I'm guessing in hopes you will buy their overpriced crap. I was expecting better since they have so many locations and heck we are on the coast, seafood is right here! You're on the coast and it's all pre packaged garbage. If i wanted prepackaged seafood I could have hit the freezer section at Fred Meyer and saved $100, and probably have gotten better clam chowder from the canned soup section. Such a shame. read more

Clam chowder didn't have any clams, 6 shrimp with the shrimp basket. No crackers on the table anymore. Small pieces of halibut and the fries were inedible very greasy and soggy. Having lived in Oregon my entire life it's really sad to see this restaurant cut all these corners at the expense of quality.
