Okay...maybe they were having a bad night...or me....but they brought out the food; never told me the plate was HOT as HADES as I burnt the heck out of my fingers. When I told the waitress she never asked me if I wanted ice for my burn...I just sat there putting ice on it from my water...no tip for u! Beware of hot plates is all I can say about eating here! Oh my glob. This place has amazing mole. Like "this is as good as the mole I had in Guatemala during a big deal special homemade dinner" amazing. Cabbage salsa, super fresh ingredients, friendly and efficient service (a rarity in this region in my experience), and so many menu options that look delectable. Stopped in here for lunch while we were in town, and so glad we did. I had the chili verde burrito which was delish. Service was awesome, prices aren't too bad, and even the bathroom was clean. I'd definitely eat there again next time I'm in the area. read more

The sweet corn sauce seafood chimichanga was everything I was hoping for. The menu and staff fully accommodated both my vegan teen and my super-picky tween. We tried going to Restobar and barely got acknowledged...our lucky day because we discovered Ixtapa. The food, drinks, service, and music were great!! Fabulous house made habañero salsa! Tacos, burrito de espinacas and carne asada were all awesome. read more

We've been several times and have never been disappointed. Last night was a great experience there, from the welcome we received on entering, through our delicious meals, attentive service and the general clean and tidy ambiance. Little touches mean a lot to us, like when my wife asked for a straw for her drink, the waiter brought it wrapped in a napkin. My excellent, ice-cold draft IPA was served in well-chilled glass, too. We were not expecting such good Mexican food on the coast. Was nice to have a hot meal after spending the day hiking and beach-combing.

when in rome--okay, when in florence, oregon--why not give mexican food a try? it's not like ixtapa was the only place serving mexican food, as i counted at least five on the highway (and i wasn't looking that hard). chips and salsa were fine, though a little less than medium on spice. they also brought out a little mexican cole slaw thing for the chips. my wife got a 2-item combo with a ground beef taco and a chile relleno with rice and beans, the boy got chicken taquitos with rice and beans, and i got a chile colorado burrito with rice and beans, too. the rice and beans were good and hot since the plates were almost on fire. everything else was solid and made on the premises. my wet burrito had a red sauce that was NOT enchilada--it was spicy and tasty. the wife liked the consistency of meat in her taco. and so on. we mowed everything down. three meals, a beer, and a greyhound ended up being 40 bucks. i can't give it five stars (salsa a little wimpy, my meat a bit tough), but it's a solid four-plus with attentive staff and piping hot mexican food with some flavor. and, my wife appreciated the big $4.50 greyhound that wasn't light on the pour. read more
