They know how to make breakfast right here. Bacon cooked well done, coffee wasn't weak, and the hash browns were cooked just right. Crispy on the outside, softer on the inside. Eggs were perfect. They buttered my sourdough toast and that's exactly how all toast should be served. Service was great and my tip was more than the bill. If I ever make it back to Florence, I'll be eating here. Nice diner style atmosphere inside. There appeared to be a few regulars. read more

2.5 stars. Every breakfast meal appeared slightly overpriced. Be prepared to pay 15$-20$ unless you desire eggs bacon and toast for 10$-$15. The thick bacon was good. They charge extra if you pay with a credit card. I think its 3%. Nothing really special here, but not really bad either. Service was....ok. read more

I was in town looking for a breakfast place that opened early, and tried the Dunes. Great choice- excellent service, nice atmosphere and good food. It was walking distance from my hotel and the waitress suggested a nearby walk for my dogs that was lovely. It seemed like a spot where locals went, but that might have been the early hour as well. I like trying places that are not chains or fast food, and this one was really nice. read more

We had a great meal. Food was fresh and staff was friendly and attentive. we will definitely be back.

Tasty, but prices are outrageous. $22 for 2 pancakes, 4 pieces of bacon/sausage, 2 slices of toast...$18 for omelettes... Service was quite rough too. No refills on drinks until the very end, and that was just for coffee. 4% charge to use card...Hard pass. read more

Very cool little place tucked away in a strip mall. Friendly and very good customer service. Excellent home made biscuits. The gravy could have used a little more sausage but it was still good. The link sausage is excellent. My wife had an omelette with ham, bacon, potato, onions, cheese that also came with hash browns and toast. She said it was excellent. Prices are reasonable. We'll be back!! read more

First off... the service/server was outstanding. As much as I'd like to say I came here for the banter, I did not. It was early, I was hungry, I came to eat. So for all the plus' I could offer this cafe, the food wasn't among them. My chicken fried steak was quite possibly among the worst I've had yet. I had a tiny pile of (4) bits I had to a lot out while trying to eat it. It's unclear to me what exactly these chunks were, but they were too hard to chew. This also is a first for me, and I'm widely known for as the CFS guy in my group. When it comes to eating breakfast out, that's usually my "go to". Beyond that the gravy wasn't horrible and I enjoyed the coffee. Apologies to the dunes cafe for the single star. Perhaps It's unfair to rate a place on a singular experience, but it was bad enough I don't see myself trying again. I ate again when I got to the gingerbread village. read more

Every time we are in Florence the Dunes is our go to cafe! Sherrie is the best server! Even though we only come in a couple of times a year, she remember us and is always smiling. It's always clean and smells waft from the kitchen like an old cartoon drawing us in! The food is delicious and we always prefer the small local places to corporate, so we will keep coming back as long as they will have us! read more

Though we moved here in Florence 8 months ago, this was our first time here. Loved the down home ambiance, the place looks like the locals go to place in town. I ordered the chicken fried steak, my go to breakfast of choice. Theirs was one of the best I've ever had. Crunchy, not soggy, exterior, and tender and cut with a fork cube steak interior. Eggs were perfectly cooked and hash browns were great. Crunchy and not greasy. Side of rye toast was perfect as well. The only area they could improve this is for a less pasty gravy and with more sausage chunks. My partner had biscuits and gravy, two eggs, hash browns. All excellent. It took longer than expected to get our food, but service was friendly and the food made up for it. Highly recommend. read more

We went there very early morning while on a vacation in Florence Or It was the only place open I found it here on Yelp Thank you Yelp Small Cafe but very nice owner and cook and guests I had the shrimp omelette and got the breakfast burrito to go, Omelette was very good and would buy again burrito was good and large Husband had the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast he wasn't crazy about the Country gravy but all in all he was very happy with his meal The ambience of the restaurant was clean and the other early bird customers were very welcoming and of course the owner was very patient as we took a bit to go through the menu The prices were about average and the portions were huge read more

3 tables that were sat at same time, have gotten their food and are eating and our table hasn't gotten our food. Servers seem to think a listed daily special, breakfast steak warrants over a 30 minute wait. Rather than acknowledge that the customer had an unusually long wait, the servers acted defensive and offered no valid customer service. Even other diners who came in AFTER us, wondered why we hadn't been served, and one of them ordered a breakfast steak, as well. Food, when it came, was tasty, but a bit over salted. Diplomacy and graciousness are desirable traits in servers, especially when there's a difference of opinion. read more

Wow we ate at this place and I was very impressed . The portions were perfect and quick service. Very friendly and welcoming. Ice and small almost too small .That's my only complaint . You gotta get there early so you can get a table. I highly suggest this business they are awesome the only reason a 4 star is the space. Nothing special. Headed home after camping. Yelp said 4 stars...it was a 2.5 star. It's a locals only joint. If you're not a local, you'll be ignored. We never had water filled, no one ever said anything to us once we had our food...and I'm talking like there is only 6 tables on here! No kids menu, kids split a chicken fried steak...gravy from a mix. Had a nice crunch on it though. Standard flat hashbrow. Husband had the patty melt...it came on yucky rye but didn't state that. Frozen hamburger patty. Again, probably fine if you're a local but if you're looking for something fun a vacation, keep driving. read more

Went here for breakfast after visiting some family. Very cute mom and pop restaurant. Good prices for the food portion. Seems very small town atmosphere and the food was tasty. I think I was most impressed with the service. While I was eating another customer had left their keys and the owner said he was going attempt to find the family at the local dunes. That is amazing small town behavior and shows this restaurant cares more than just delivering great food. I would eat there again. read more

Hole in the wall joint that just feels right. A true mom and pop atmosphere, except the folks are more like brothers and sisters. Packed when we got here, had to wait a minute while they cleared a table for us. Very attentive staff. Placed our orders, now sitting here checking out the artwork and signage. It looks like the take-out business is hopping here as well. The lady running the grill has impressed me big time! She looks like a whirlwind back there just going at it taking care of all the orders. Food just got here and HALLELUJAH! A proper philly at last! The flavors are perfect and the meat tender, the bun was toasted lightly and perfectly. The onions were caramelized perfectly while maintaining an al dente crispness! Just the right amount of saltiness!! Oh yea! To the owner who caught me writing this review, yes, I will be back! My son loves the chicken fried steak and the wife enjoyed- get this- The Porker! read more

Really good food & excellent service. Very Friendly"Down-home" atmosphere. MEH! Nothing special. Headed home after camping. Rarely are we misled by Yelp...must be one of those scenarios where local friends create the hype and everyone else gets baited. We usually love these hole in the wall small town vibe cafes...however, having said that...this is definitely a locals only joint. If you're not a local, you'll be ignored. We never had water or coffee filled, no one ever said anything to us once we had our food...and the place isn't that big...maybe 10 tops total! No kids menu, kids split a chicken fried steak...gravy from a mix. Had a nice crunch on it though. Standard flat hashbrown. I had the patty melt...it was on stale rye bread (not a fan of rye...I guess I could have asked but why...I've never seen anyone use such a divisive bread on a grilled sandwich not named Reuben)! I'm assuming they were trying to use up all of the bread before the weekend was over. An even graver offense was the use of a frozen hamburger patty. I get it...you're far from any food distributors so we can't all have fresh ground beef...but a fresh patty or maybe not an overcooked frozen patty would have made a world of a difference. Not wanting to sound like a dick but honestly, this place is probably fine if you're a local and it's just breakfast but if you're looking for something fun on vacation, keep driving. read more

Husband had a regular breakfast that he liked, too, but was jealous of mine!!! One cook and very small kitchen!! I don't know how he was able to pump out so much wonderful food in so little time! We were looking for a great breakfast place while out and about during Labor Day weekend and Yelp helped us with this little gem. The food was homemade style and we felt at home in the quaint little building that was a smaller version of my beloved Deans. The food was good not great but not bad the only complaint was that some of the veggies in the vegetarian omelette were under cooked and the cook wasn't able to make a sunny side up egg, but not everyone can it's a hard one too pull off right so I accepted my over done eggs and apology with grace. The biscuits are huge the gravy was a little peppery for some in our group, but I thought it was just right. If you want a hardy meal before heading out on the dunes this place definitely fits the bill. You will not leave hungry. read more
