In times of having to really budget as eating out has became more and more of a treat, I had really grown tired of spending money and feeling disappointed with my dining experiences. From CPK to CF feeling like a bust, to some of the mom and pop place just being duds, I am really happy to report that this specific Islands is a total win. The GM (checks in with tables and is great) and staff at this location, are on point. Food is always delicious (do not skip out on the chili cheese Island Nachos) and Jade, our waitress a few times now, is both friendly and attentive..service like that keeps us coming back. I love that Islanda has a huge parking structure right next door. There's always parking here. Went here on a Friday nights for happy house, which is from 3-630pm and sat at the bar. Although we did not take advantage of the happy hour deals it was still fun. We ordered the Big Wave burger, the Cheddar fries and Kilauea burger. We got the garden salad as our burger sides. Not long after our food came out all together. The cheddar fries were crispy yet soft from the melted cheese. Our burgers were fantastically cooked. I got mine medium well and it was exactly that. I would give it one star, but one server had a cheerful attitude and was helpful in answering my questions. We were a party of 4. Quickly seated, the menus were on the table. 1. There are no true vegan options. The impossible burger contains cheddar cheese and aioli sauce, both contain dairy. (Who adds that to a plant-based meal?) The gluten-free bun contains egg. So, lettuce wrap it! As a vegan, you end up paying $20 for a patty, a slice of tomato, slivers of avocado, and two massive leaves of lettuce. 2. Their regular signature fries were stale and tasted like sponges. I recommend the sweet potato fries. 3. The lava cake was good. 4. The artichoke dip was good. 5. The nacho cheese plate was good. I asked if the beans were vegan. I got the funniest response from their manager when I asked what ingredient in the black beans that would deem it vegetarian and not vegan! All he would repeat was, "As I said, they are vegetarian, but not vegan." The atmosphere looks like it is geared for groups and families. Fairly disappointed with Island's Restaurant. We ordered the Kilauea, Truffle Fries, Islands Nachos, Jr. Tiki Tenders, and more Fries. The Kilauea burger sucked. It was way too overpowering, overlooking the balance of flavors. The burger was compacted with a bunch of ingredients, which in my opinion, did not work well together. The black pepper-crusted patty was overpowering. It completely masked the other flavors of the burger. The crispy onions were good. I could barely taste the chipotle aioli. The burger just tasted like putting pepper between two buns. Though, I do have to acknowledge that the patty was cooked well. The truffle fries were a downer. They barely put any truffle oil on their fries. They're your frozen bag fries just topped with parmesan. The truffle aioli was quite nice though. It had a noticeable truffle flavor with it. The island's nachos were also a downer. All the basic nacho components were basic and good. Though, the guacamole was very bad. It seemed like cheap store-bought guacamole. It honestly did not have good flavor. The island nachos were just very subpar. The fries are alright. They are just your average frozen bag of fries. The Tiki Tenders also sucked. Completely tasteless. The chicken inside was very dry. It was not crispy at all. Again, just seemed like frozen tenders you get at a grocery store. The quality is not impressive at all. Most of the items and the ingredients in them just seemed store-bought. The tenders were definitely store-bought from the frozen section. The guacamole also seems like it was just store-bought guacamole. The presentation is fairly average. it's what you would expect in a burger place. Just comes in the average basket with parchment paper. Nothing exciting with the presentations. Actually, when my burger came out the ranch was spilled, as you can see in the picture. In turn, a portion of the bottom bun was covered in ranch. I was not happy with that. In terms of portion to price, I would say it is fair. They are big portions and will definitely fill you up. The burgers are quite big. Though in terms of the taste, I would say it is not worth the price. Therefore, if you're really hungry but not looking to eat something that tastes good, I would recommend eating here. Our server sucked. Our server was very bland and honestly did not seem like she wanted to be there. She was not aware of our table at all. It took a long time just to get a refill of water. Though, the server for the table next to us seemed much better. He was very loud and outgoing, which I like. He definitely seems like he enjoyed his job and communicated well with the customers. He was also very helpful to our table when our server was not giving us any attention. The food came out really slowly. Granted we ordered a lot, though it came out longer than average time. Islands, Oh Islands~ I've been to several different branches of Islands and this place is pretty similar to all the others that I've been to with regard to taste. I probably frequent this one the most just due to proximity. I usually go for lunch time when they have specials, which is available on weekdays until 4 p.m. My go-to is the Big Wave burger with cheese. You can't beat a cheeseburger with a side of fries (though you can also get Islands Slaw or a Side Salad instead...). I also love getting asked if I'd like more fries. (Why can't all burger joints refill fries?) Anyhoo~ good location and a decent sized portion for lunch at a lower price. :) It also is situated right next to a free parking structure, so that's always nice! read more

First, I want to say that we love Islands and come there usually once a week. We always sit in the Bar area to eat, watch sports and most of all talk to the Bar tenders. We love Coco, Jade and Deanna. They ALAWAYS are so nice and attentive to our needs when we are there. I love the Mai Tais. We were in Tahiti and I had a Mai Tai there and it couldn't compare. I LOVE the truffle fries but sadly they were taken off the menu. I hope they return soon. read more

Visited Islands for dinner on Friday, March 24. It was incredibly busy! The hostesses, our waiter and all other support staff that was in our view kept smiles on their faces and their attitudes were upbeat. Our food and drinks were timely and tasty. Hot food hot, drinks nice and cold. Refills, not a problem. Again, I haven't seen a restaurant this busy since before March 2020! Islands is now open for outdoor dining and take-out. They have plenty of tables in the front of the Restaurant , and in back. They are currently on a limited menu but they have all the favorites, like burgers, chicken sandwiches, appetizers and salads. The tables all have scan to phone menus and the staff all wear masks. The service is always friendly and attentive, too . The parking structure is literally right off the restaurant, so parking is conveniently close. The bar area is closed but you can still order any of your favorites for your table. Islands is still serving bottomless fries. Happy Hour is on weekdays from 3pm- 6:30pm. read more

Went here a week or so ago after picking up my brother from the airport. He was craving burgers, so we ended up going here. Staff was friendly and sat us down right away. We took a quick look at the menu and put in our orders. I ended up going with my default choice of a Hawaiian burger with fries. It took a bit for our food to come, but once it did, everything tasted like how it does at every Island's restaurant. I just love the mix of flavors, especially with the pineapple slices in the burger and that the fries were refillable. But once it came to the bill, it took us a bit to the flag the waitress for the bill as well as a box for the leftover fries. Happen to be in the Burbank area during lunch and decided to stop here. Upon walking towards the restaurant, there were a lot of people waiting outside and inside the restaurant and was afraid that the wait would be at least one hour. To my surprise, it would only be 20-25 minutes for a party of four. It was exactly 29 minutes. Our hostess sat us to our booth. Our server came to get our drink orders and also informed we were ready to order. Two in my party ordered the chicken caesar salad, one ordered the beach bowl with chicken, and I ordered the pork tacos. Three of our orders came out at the same time, and the beach bowl with chicken took several minutes longer. Disgusting hamburger. We decided to try this place as we were in a hurry and super hungry. We asked the server which was the most popular burger. She said the Kilauea burger. I when received the order I wanted to immediately send it back just based on its appearance, but decided to try it first. Complete fail on all counts. Grease upon grease on more grease. The fried onion strings were literally dripping limp with oil. The burger patty with the fried crusted jalapeño thing was literally dripping with oil also. Although it had a spicy flavor, it completely lacked seasoning. The flavor of the overall burger was so offputting that after two bites I stopped. Not even the french fries were safe. Extremely soggy with old tasting fry oil. The Parmesan truffle seasoning was a huge mistake, but we got it based on the server recommendation. Just awful meal. Islands have pretty good lunch specials, Monday through Friday until 4pm. Choices are soup & salad, jungle Caesar salad, north shore tacos, shorebird, and big wave with cheese. I had lunch here with a coworker who's celebrating her birthday. We were greeted promptly by the hostess and seated right away. However, it took awhile for our waitress to show up. We didn't waste time in selecting our orders. While waiting for our server to come back, my friend went to the restroom. After placing our orders, I took the opportunity to tell our server of her birthday. My friend had the burger and fries while I had the two piece chicken tacos with a side of beans. We both enjoyed our lunches which cost under $10 each. After finishing our meals, the server was nowhere in sight again. After a long wait, she finally brought a slice of Kona pie with a lighted candle and left. Since we were already late for work, we wanted the pie to go but we can't find our waitress. To be clear, I really enjoyed this location pre-Covid: dining in was easy, any wait went by quickly, great food and very friendly staff. It's just that, well, I've ordered takeout & delivery 3 times since this "all" started and the order has been almost completely incorrect each time. When I got delivery, I least got some cash back. But when it came to take out and I called, all I got was an apology. Well, one burger which was to only have 1 topping on it had everything. Another was a veggie patty instead of beef. Another time everything look good when I drove away, but closer inspection at home showed same thing. I can't (or shouldn't have to, I guess), when getting take out, open and completely inspect every single item. It's the element of trust. Again, I rarely if ever had this issue while dining in...and maybe when temps relax I'll try their outside seating. I've been coming here since high school, as every kid who grows up in Burbank has, shoving ourselves in large booths with large groups of teenagers to enjoy large baskets of cheese fries and soda. As an adult, I'm still very much enjoying the cheese fries, only now I take a seat at the bar. Sometimes Tanner is there, sometimes Paul, but either way there's friendliness, enjoyable conversation, and tasty drinks. There's a clear comradery within the staff, and even though they're still recovering from the labor shortage they find themselves in, there's no shortage of hard work. Which leads me to why I'm writing a review at all. There's a store manager there named Alex who is without a doubt the most hands on manager I've ever seen. There is a clear working trickle down effect going on with the crew, and today I saw the source. Alex did ALL the jobs in the hour I was there; I saw him buss tables, plate food (gloved, of course), check in on customers, bring glassware racks to the dishwasher, bring ice to the bartender, and seat a table when the host was away bussing (I wish I knew her name, she is wonderful as well). No job was beneath his notice. I'm certain if the toilet started flooding he'd have been the first in there with a plunger. Having worked in my fair share of restaurants, this is more than rare, this is unheard of. We were here recently and ended up sitting in the bar area since the wait for a table was too long. Food was fine, but the bartender spent pretty much the entire time ignoring customers and talking up a couple at the end of the bar. Having been a server back in the day, I 100% understand when they're busy, have a ton of tables, etc. and service is delayed. But this woman was literally ignoring tables, not checking on food, not doing anything because she was socializing. I don't know if that couple were coworkers or someone famous, or just her friends, but even my teenager noticed she was slacking off. (FYI, they allow under 21s to sit at the tables in the bar area, just not at the bar counter.)
