Amazing beer selection. Well made comfort food and great service. Great music selection, and decor!

I've been coming here on and off for about 5 years. I recently went in this past Friday night to meet my friend for food and drinks. I ordered at the bar like always, and the bartender took my order and then walked towards the kitchen. Now I know they usually give you your drink right then and there, but they were busy and I assumed he was going to take care of something else first, which is completely fine! What I didn't expect was this other bartender, who was on the complete other side of the bar and didn't communicate me with at all, was actually filling my drink. I didn't realize that, because he didn't tell me, so I turned to walk back to my table. This rude bartender thought I was abandoning my drink or something, and used his big boy voice to yell "YOUR DRINK!" so loudly that everyone at the bar stopped to stare at me, and some were laughing. Now I didn't know that intentionally embarrassing your patrons is how you guys do business, but ok, whatever makes you feel important I guess... The original bartender who took my order came by and checked and on our table later in the night, and he asked us something that neither my friend or I could hear, so I said "I'm sorry, what?" and he rolled his eyes and walked away. Alternatively, a few months ago, my husband and his friend came here and they received the complete opposite treatment - free drinks, conversations with the bartenders, and were welcomed. I never come into a restaurant/bar, especially a small business, expecting anything for free, that isn't my point at all. I do however expect basic manners and respect. Based on our very different experiences recently, there does seem to be a hint of misogyny going on here. This place used to be cool and friendly, and food has always been great, but the men who work here completely ruin it. It's really disappointing. read more

I went here specifically for the vegan chili cook off. I was looking for something to do on a Saturday, went on the We Like LA website, and this came up. It's like this event was made for me: First of all, it was close to home. Secondly, it was vegan. Lastly, no matter how much I was eating that day, I couldn't get full. This sounded like a good solution. Parking, the bane of any Angelenos existence, was free on the street. I was lucky and quickly found one on a residential street. I came a little early because, again, I was hungry. It gave me time to figure out by listening in to other newcomers that we needed to buy a ticket from the bar. The ticket also serves as a punch card because you only get one bowl from each vendor. It's also how you vote for your favorite because it has a QR code for that. Unsure of how things worked, I asked how many different types of chili I could try and was told "All of them." Not bad for $20 since I ended up eating 5 bowls of chili. The bowls are a little small, but times that by 5 and that's a lot of chili. I went from being so hungry to coming home so full. I wish they had given us a tray because what I wanted to do was have all 5 bowls in front of me, take a spoonful from each one, then make my decision on my favorite. What I ended up doing was precariously carrying 3 bowls on the first trip, finishing those off, and then coming back for the last 2. I was planning to eat outside, but the small patio filled up fast. I appreciate the fact that this event gave the bar a more family friendly vibe since people also brought their kids who were playing with the board games the bar had on hand anyway. This was my first time coming here and my first time going to a chili cook off, so even though I didn't stay long since I basically scarfed all 5 chili bowls down in a matter of minutes, I enjoyed myself. read more

We ended up here on a whim after getting hit with a 1 hour wait at Broken Compass. Threw our names on the list, hopped in the car, and 6 minutes later landed at this lively little dive bar that somehow manages to feel quite wholesome. You order at the bar, so we grabbed a table, scoped out the menu, and honestly, it's stacked. Tons of options, and ridiculously vegan-friendly. Vegan galore. Like, actual choices, not just the sad "salad or fries" situation a lot of places offer. We only needed something to hold us over, so we kept it simple. I got the beer brat, my friends went for fries, a pretzel, and the Season of the Witch bowl. Everything hit the spot. Nothing mind-blowing, but solid across the board. For a quick detour, it worked out perfectly. I'd definitely swing back the next time I'm in the area. read more

BIG fan of this spot! One of our go-to's after any event or shopping in Burbank. They have decent prices on drinks, a solid happy hour, oh and a pretty legit food menu with great vegan options. A hole in the wall bar that is totally unpretentious and serves mostly vegan pub food??!!! Heck yes!!!!! My husband told me about this place as he's gone there for years, but I'm a newb to Burbank so it was my first time. We went on a Saturday night to watch the Dodgers in the World Series. We were able to get a table and ordered two vegan brats (the Pazour and the Beer brat) and both were so good! We also ordered fries and the fried garbanzos. On top of that, you also get a selection of beers (or a cider in my case) and the vibe is incredible: super casual and the staff is incredibly friendly. A go to for some of friends is Coral Cafe, but being a Tonys supporter and advocate for well over ten years, I suggested we stop into one of the most welcoming gastropubs in Los Angeles. Tony's Darts Away is a divey chic eatery and beveragery in Burbank, California at/just about at the corner of Magnolia Blvd & Reese Pl. Street parking is plenty in Burbank and a recommended must for TDA. It's still an amazing essential 50/50 menu where anything that can be made can also be made vegan hence the NV and V logos on their always impressive menu. Appetizers aka Snacks... always! The Fried Garbanzo Beans were yum, newer to the menu and we had plenty of them... Along with a basket of hot fresh fries. Feeling extra hot doggy, I had The Classic as well as a Street Meat, veganize perfect. There wasn't much relish on my Classic vegan Frank, but since my friend Adam (one of my two dining buddies) isn't a fan of pickles, he passed them over from his order. Shaun (my other buddy) had the wonderful Banh Mi and Adam went with a Smashburger, which is on my mind for next time, as it's been too long since I enjoyed it. We did a round of Beers (ales) as well as Not Beers (hard seltzers and cider), but the list is extensive... Wine as well. Non-adult beverage selection is pretty good. TDA doesn't do delivery, but they do have pickup orders, plenty of seats that fill up fast, but worth a short wait when they are at peak service for the day. The kitchen closes typically two hours or so before close (9/10PM). Board games, darts, billiards and a digital jukebox... Street meat is perfect - safer and less greasy version of the hot dog made famous by many drunken wanders at 2 am on Los Angeles streets. Service could certainly be better, hence the 4 stars, and they could use a bouncer on busy nights to manage the number of bodies in the small bar. read more

I absolutely love Tony's and I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review. Tony's is a vegan pub that offers non vegan options. That alone is why I love them. Tony's knows what's up. The vibe is super chill and divey which reminds me of several places back home in Chicago. Another reason they have my heart. Tony's is one of those places you order your food at the bar and they bring it to your table. They have a ton of board games on shelves surrounding the tables and they also have a pool table. We either grab a game or bring our own. Good times. Service is always top notch! Friendly, fast and more times than not funny. The food is definitely bar food...think burgers, dogs. fries, wings, nachos, sausages...it's all good and yep greasy which makes it even more tasty. The thing that always cracks me up when I go here is I tend to order wine and they serve it in a glass that says Not Beer. LOL I love that! I just wish they had these glasses for sale! Tony's Darts Away has been holding it down since 1978, and you can feel that history the second you walk in. The original aesthetic is still intact, and I love that about it--it's got that cozy, no-frills charm that so many places try (and fail) to recreate. Honestly, I wish they'd lean into that vintage vibe even more. One of my favorite things: they've got a TouchTunes jukebox, so you can set the mood with your own playlist and really make the space yours for the night. And for a bar that leans dive-y in all the best ways, the vegan menu here is incredibly impressive. It's hands down the most extensive I've ever seen at a spot like this. Great drinks, great food, and something for everyone. Bonus points for being kid-friendly until 9 PM--it's not easy finding cool places where you can grab a drink and still bring your little one along. Tony's gets it right. read more

Friendly reminder to make sure you get a printed receipt after paying at this place. I came here on St Patrick's night with my little brother for his first beer as he just turned 21. We both ordered 2 beers each, the same beer "hecho en carslbad." When I paid and checked the receipt, I noticed he charged me for 3 "hecho in carlsbads" and 1 more expensive beer. I told him that we had only ordered the same beer and his response was "oh yeah I accidentally poured the wrong beer but it's basically the same price" What!!??? I understand making a mistake but the fact that he didn't even mention it when giving us our second beer is super shady. He tried taking advantage of the fact that my little brother wouldn't even notice. He should've asked if we want a different beer and the fact that he tried to make me pay for a more expensive beer by $2! He took the beer off the tab and apologized but this definitely left a bad taste and I just wouldn't recommend this place. Very unfortunate. Update: as you can see in the response by the GM, the zero accountability comes from leadership, how can you say that you caught the mistake? I CAUGHT THE MISTAKE WHEN I ASKED FOR A PRINTED RECEIPT. I used to visit Tinhorn Flats every so often from 2011-2013, but when they closed in 2021, I needed to find another location for a pint. Tonys Darts Away is nestled next to Three Sisters Coffee & Tea along Magnolia. There's plenty of surrounding street and neighborhood parking. The service is very friendly & attentive. read more

I never leave reviews but I treated myself to a the driest and most burnt bacon burger I've ever had in my life. The bacon was completely black. This is a fun dive bar with a great neighborhood feel. They have fun board games, friendly staff, and moderately priced drinks. The food is classic heavy dive food, but it fits the vibe perfectly. I've eaten here a few times. On this trip, I tried the fried chickpeas I wasn't a big fan but the Beer Brat has a vegan option and is crazy good! It's a brat topped with brown mustard and sauerkraut. I'd definitely recommend this spot when you're in the mood for a good game night with friends. There's also limited outdoor seating, but if you sit outside, you can bring your pooch. read more

The bull's-eye burger with real meat was delicious. The music was very loud, but thankfully, I had earplugs in my purse that I could use. The man who delivered the food to our table was very non-personable. He just kind of threw our burgers on the table and left without saying anything. I've never experienced that before . the man who took my order at the bar was quick to take my order and I appreciated that. The SmashBurger wad deceptive. I went here with a group of friends some vegan some not and when the food arrived the server gave me a meat sausage when I ordered a vegan one. It's was absolutely mortifying biting into a dead body and they didn't apologize or offer a refund or replacement and seemed irritated with me when I asked for a refund because the food arrived in a red basket. The manager explained I should have known the sausage was meat because "red means dead", but I'm not sure how I as a customer was supposed to know your establishment's kitchen rules. THE SETUP I was breeezing down into Burbank for the day (and happened to bring that torrential rainstorm on Saturday night, Dec 10th!) It was a fun junket to visit both family and friends. Earlier that evening, Peter & Dani brought me to Tony's Darts Away, an eclectic, eccentric & charming hole in the wall here in Burbank. [And as a point of clarity, is it "Tonys Darts Away" or "Tony's Darts Away"? The placement of an apostrophe isn't much but it kinda can be.] THE ATMOSPHERE The vibe is just what you would expect for a corner bar hole-in-the-wall for a beloved neighborhood bar: * Quiet place to grab a drink (a cheap drink) * But not SO quiet when FIFA is goin on with lots of soccer fans around * With grub that is GOOD, including signature items, such as the SMASHBURGER, and fresh cut fried potato chips, with spicy versions running to more peppery or to more hot (legit!) * Lots of board games to enjoy in the stacks along the wall * And did I say cheap drinks? We're not just taking about beers or ales, but also IPAs and Sours, and full-on cocktails and whiskeys and ....and ..... you get the idea! DARTS? PARKING This is Burbank, but the OTHER side (the West side) I-5, so it's not so bad. About a mile out from the freeway, you can rather easily find parking on the street, and definitely on the side streets. So don't sweat bullets about inviting a co-hort of FIFA fans together. Arrived at 5:30 pm. was a pretty loud Group talking over the rock music.. Wife and I split the darts away burger which had a really good and bold strong BBQ flavor. Perfectly paired with a dark 'Norm' on tap ... Next, we split the Smash-burger, that was on the spicy side (for me) . Apparently it's the ketchup. I love Tony's. Cool scene, awesome vibe, amazing selection of beers. YES come here for drinks and board games. They also have a pool table! Unfortunately I came here exclusively to grab dinner and it was a miss. I came on a Thursday night, and it wasn't entirely packed, but somehow we waited an hour to get our food. I met some friends who ordered drinks at the bar. After waiting for a short while, a table inside opened up and we all sat down. The table had not been bussed from the previous group, but we wanted to snag it before someone else did. Unfortunately the table never ended up being bussed. The entire time we sat there, so did someone else's leftovers. It was extremely difficult to flag anyone down because there wasn't anyone walking around checking tables. One food runner was bringing out a couple baskets of food at a time and going straight back to the kitchen. The bartender did come out at some point and we asked about our food. She said it was coming out, but this was already after about 45 mins of waiting. We ordered a basket of fries, a buffalo chicken wrap, a bratwurst, buffalo potatoes and a burger. Unfortunately when the food did finally come out, my brat was cold. Fries were really good and crispy, but way to salty for my liking. I would totally come back to Tony's in the future and would still recommend it to my friends. They have a lot of great options for vegan diners. However I hope they can sort out the kitchen issue in the future to ensure food comes out in a timely manner and at a decent temperature. read more

I love Everything about Tony's Darts Away. I used to live literally around the corner, and back in the early 2000's, I walked in, thinking it was your typical beer joint... Immediately I noticed I'd never heard of any of their beers and ales on tap. I asked the bartender (who turned out to be Tony himself!) and he explained local small batch beer and ale, as well as "The Proper Pint" to me. I immediately "got it", and never turned back! I wondered where micro-brew beer and ale had been all of my life! Wow! Tony has been here a couple of decades now, his delightful Dart's Away has excellent homemade bar food, both vegan and carnivorous, for those who wish... but do try his veggie options, as they're delish, you won't realize you're eating veggie- honest! Try the Disco Fries, the chili is fabulous, the sausages and gourmet hot dogs are all worth your while! And do say hello to my old buddy Morgan, who's been tending bar at Tony's almost as long as they've been there. When I find myself in Burbank, I Have to stop by Tony's Darts Away. My favorite place for beer and great food anywhere, really. The Best! read more

I had an early dinner here yesterday (5:00): I was disappointed that they did not have a stout on tap, but they had a very good porter, which I was given a sample. I also had the bratwurst, which was actually pretty good, nice combination of fried onions & sauerkraut. Even though it wasn't crowded, it was loud inside. I did like that there are windows, so the bar wasn't overly dark & there was an outdoor seating option. Service was perfunctory, not bad, not overly friendly, just polite. read more

Tony's is one of my favorite places in LA. My partner and I usually come here weekly and have for years. The staff and the general ambiance are the main reasons we keep coming back. They're the best and it just feels good there. The draft beer selection is one of the very best in the city and their food menu is great, especially for a bar. There's tons of vegan food (and no vegan too) and they always have a weekly food special. The new chef has been creating lots of exciting specials lately. For the love of god... One bartender (dark hair, tall, with pink beanie) really messed up our experience last Saturday night. Food and drinks were great. The other bartender with a black beanie and longer hair was perfectly nice. But we were bullied high school-style by the possibly intoxicated other bartender for the hour we were there. We were a group of 8. As we played games and queued music, he made fun of our music and dancing. When Ring of Fire came on, he said to me (sober) and my friend (also sober), "I fell into a ring of annoying drunk patrons." When we danced, he rolled his eyes, mouthed "oh my god," and imitated our dancing to the few other patrons who seemed like regulars. He shouted inaudible phrases and words at us throughout our visit. One of the other patrons even came to our defense, saying that HE liked a Fleetwood Mac song that the bartender called "fucking obnoxious." I've worked in service before. I know what constitutes as inappropriate patron behavior. All we did was play music, dance, play a few games, and a round of pool. Absolutely nothing we did could have justified how he treated us. If you have an issue, let us know instead of acting like a child. He made it extremely clear we're not welcome, so we won't be coming back. read more

Great food, and love their vegan menu as a standard. I'm not even vegan but the food is delicious. They gladly serve animal products as well. So it's very welcoming regardless of your dietary preferences or restrictions. The beer menu is filled with delicious craft beer. And the place is always clean. I've been a loyal patron of Tony's Darts Away for years and have always enjoyed the great food, affordable prices, and impressive beer selection on tap. It's been my go-to spot, especially being so close to home. However, I've stopped going in recent months due to concerns about the restroom cleanliness. The restroom in the back corner with the stone flooring has developed a persistent urine odor, which makes me uncomfortable. I understand accidents happen in a bar setting, but it seems like the floor has taken more wear and tear than the toilet, and it's starting to show. There are also cobwebs in various corners, both on the floor and near the ceiling, along with rust and dust on accessible areas like the hand railings and dispensers (toilet paper, seat liners, soap, etc.). Although I've noticed cleaning crews coming and going, it doesn't feel like a thorough cleaning is being done. The toilet and sink fixtures are always clean and sanitized, which I appreciated, but overall, the restroom upkeep has deterred me from returning. I'd love to come back to Tony's, and I hope management can address these issues for a more pleasant experience for everyone. read more

This place has amazing customer service, and is always friendly. It's very awkward when you read a review that brings you in and says you did something which is completely false. Yeah, I was the next customer up. The Beertenders repeated numerous times to the irate customers that they were not double charged. They even showed them and told them that they couldn't have been double charged if they had never signed. The male with the complaint had issues with cellphone connectivity and couldn't check his bank account. Instead of walking away, he stayed there until he finally got access roughly 10 min or so. Saw his account, signed and walked away. I walked up, ordered Pliney, and closed my tab. So not sure what they referred to "talking bad about us . . ." Came from.
