With their Oakland store recently shut down, Burbank is technically now "my" Gus's. I was finally able to try their chicken strips, which wasn't as good as their bone-in pieces. It reminded me of what some chicken joints might call a "naked" breading. The fried okra made a great pairing with ranch. Each piece was large & juicy, but still crisp. I was poppin' those like TicTacs (or whatever the cool kids throw back these days.) I also ordered my favorite piece, a drumstick, which was absolutely delectable. I should've ordered another instead of a breast because that second piece was way too much food. The meat is moist & the breading has the best texture & flavoring. I love that this fried chicken has no greasy taste. Chill, casual atmosphere. Awesome folks running the show. Gus's chicken is certainly famous in my world.

I saw NOTHING about the Wingstop move. Anyway, the address in the email was correct, so I have to take responsability for not checking before I went to the other spot, but it would have been nice if there was something, ANYTHING that was clear about the move. New location isn't as visible from the street and is in a parking lot that has 1 entrance and 1 exit. Store was clean and service was friendly enough. As for the sandwiches, I liked mine, my wife was not at all a fan, so a 50/50 reaction. It was worth it to try as a BOGO, but it won't be something I'll have to go back to with a million other places that offer chicken sandwiches that are as good or better. But, it's a fair price without the deal at $5.99 each.

Now I didn't know that intentionally embarrassing your patrons is how you guys do business, but ok, whatever makes you feel important I guess... The original bartender who took my order came by and checked and on our table later in the night, and he asked us something that neither my friend or I could hear, so I said "I'm sorry, what?" and he rolled his eyes and walked away. Alternatively, a few months ago, my husband and his friend came here and they received the complete opposite treatment - free drinks, conversations with the bartenders, and were welcomed.
