They get 4 stars more so for the service and the atmosphere. Love the decor in the restaurant and if love vintage like me the bathrooms are so nicely decorated and it feels like you've stepped back in time - in a good way. All of the employees were very nice and attentive. They were pretty busy when we went but still made sure to check in on us. They have indoor and outdoor seating which I love. As for the food, loved my fries and my boyfriend liked his buffalo wings but the salads weren't great. The dressing was barely there and didn't have much a taste. My steak was cooked great but we wouldn't order them again. However we saw some people who got burgers or ordered off the dinner menu so we'll definitely go back and try something else.

I recently had a delicious lunch with my daughter at The New Deal, and I must say, the experience was lovely. The restaurant exudes a cozy vintage vibe, making it an inviting spot. Its location is ideal, nestled right in Magnolia Park, surrounded by some of my favorite vintage shops. Our server, Mindy, was an absolute gem. Despite being busy, she was friendly and attentive, ensuring we felt well taken care of. I opted for the turkey burger with sweet potato fries, and the addition of pesto really enhanced the flavor of the burger. The sweet potato fries were a standout too, I enjoyed them !Since it was happy hour, I treated myself to a glass of house red wine, which complemented the meal nicely. My daughter chose the classic All American burger with fries, and she really enjoyed it as well.I'm already looking forward to my next visit, where I plan to try something new from their menu!

Oof. What to say about this place. Ambience: Ithought it was nice. My daughter said it was the whitest place she'd ever been to, but I thought the combination of vintage items and modern decor worked. Food: we both ordered burgers, the chicken sandwich and a turkey burger. They were both very good. The salads were so so and the dressing was different for each sandwich. The one they gave us for the chicken sandwich was better than the oily mess I got for the burger. Cleanliness: honestly we were both freaked out about this. All of the glasses seemed vaguely dirty as did the silverware. There were bits of something floating around in the water in the water glass. My suspicion is they're using some cheapi detergent -- level up people. Use something that makes your glasses and silverware clear. I don't know what the bits were floating around in the water. It was unappetizing, and we almost walked out because of it. Service: the server was relatively attentive, so no complaints there. A little weird in terms of the fact that she was really pushing the alcoholic drinks, but whatever. She was fine. Overall? I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but if you're in the neighborhood, maybe give them a shot. There's not a lot there. It's pretty much this place, a couple of coffee shops, or the Italian place down the street. Take your pick!

Absolutely loved this place and I can't believe I had never stopped in before. The service was incredible and you can tell that they have a lot of regulars. The space itself is so homey and eclectic. I ordered the vegan burger, which was made in house and it was delicious...could have used a bit more seasoning/salt but I'll just ask for a shaker next time. My Chardonnay hit the spot and I think I found a new favorite in Burbank. Parking can be a bit difficult in this busy stretch of Magnolia, but we managed to find a spot about a block away.

I had a great time when I was visiting! I got a brisket burger and it was damn good!!! Service was on point, food is yummy and loved sitting outside- perfect place to people watch and read a book!

The staff were a little overeager to take our order, coming back to the table very quickly after giving us menus. I don't think it'd even been five minutes since we'd been given the menus! But they were also happy to give us a little longer, and came back when we were ready to order. The patty melt I got was...not great, to be honest. The cheese had little flavor, or what flavor it did have was overpowered by tarragon. The house made chips were nice! The bathroom honestly kind of creeped me out. There was way too much going on, and the lights were very dim, so it sort of felt like antiques were looming at you in the darkness. In another setting, I would've found all the items very interesting to look at, but not with my pants down! Overall, I'm not sure if I'd be back. Some of their other dishes sounded interesting and I did enjoy the overall aesthetic of the restaurant.

There's street parking to get here. The vintage decor is really neat and has a chill vibe. It's a fairly cozy restaurant with limited seating both indoor and outdoors. There's a sunday brunch menu but also a main menu. The service was quick and staff were really nice. The Roosevelt burger was great! You can have the patty cooked to your preference. The bacon is nice and juicy. The fries remind me of In n Out's fries. Which I don't mind. But you can get homemade chips instead as a side. The food is slightly on the pricey side but it's definitely worth a chance to try. I would return to try other menu items.

After picking up my shoes from Deluxe Shoe Repair I stopped in to The New Deal for lunch and it was a great experience. The vibe reminds me of my favorite spring and fall visits to Napa and Yountville. The restaurant is simple yet elegant with great "American Song Book" music playing in the background. Had the Blue Eagle burger which was very good and a glass of their house red wine that was reasonable prices and very good! I will be back!

Absolutely love this gem of a restaurant! Superb choice in music. Amazing food, you can't go wrong with any menu item. Wonderful service!

The New Deal is a wonderful addition to Burbank's Magnolia Park area. It's a great starting point for weekend brunch and mimosas, then some spins through the boutiques and novelty shops, ending with coffee at one of the cafes further down Magnolia Blvd. It's an eclectic, attractive, space, reminiscent of NoHo's Idle Hour or other 1933 Group establishments: the type of place to call drinks "libations" and encourage their staff to sport bowties and twirly mustaches. Appreciated touches of whimsy include tables decoupaged with deco-era newspapers and pretty art labels on the glass table water bottles. Quaint appearances aside, the service is excellent, the drinks are delicious, and the food is outstanding. We started with a round of tasty Aperol spritzes, and selected two items from the brunch and lunch menu: skirt steak eggs benedict and the beef short rib sandwich. The benny was great with tender steak and perfect hollandaise, and the short rib sandwich was phenomenal: flavourful beef, a tangy aioli, perfectly caramelised onions, fresh rocket, and a pillowy soft ciabatta roll. I chose a side of fries instead of house chips with my sandwich, and they were remarkably, perfectly cooked. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. Even on busy weekends, there's plenty of free street parking down Avon. Brunch here was a delight, and we're looking forward to coming back to try the dinner menu.

A neighborhood gem! Cozy and charming decor with very friendly staff and owner, Kerry. I come back often for the Roosevelt burger or the Crispy Organic Chicken. Great spot for romantic date night or just a cozy dinner. It's always been easy to find parking on the street.

    Delicious mimosas

Not even going to lie this is my new favorite spot. Went twice in a week. I've tried the short rib sandwich and the fried chicken sandwich. The short rib sandwich was amazing. The fried chicken sandwich was okay. I ordered both sandwiches with fries ranch and ketchup - their ranch is good. They're a lil skimpy on the fries here but not a deal breaker. I also love their mimosas. The bubbly and orange juice is chefs kiss. I drink the first one down fast bc it taste so good. Next time ill add pics of the food. Their menu look solid and I'm excited to try more things on their menu including the short ribs as an entree.

Really nice place. It's has a Victorian feel to it with antique items all around. Service was great. Food was tasty, and the pricing is really decent. There's outdoor seating (dog friendly) as well as inside. I would come here again.

I really REALLY wanted to like this place... The concept of sandwiches and exotic/imported snacks…read moreso fun and different! Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience:( The customer service was cold and unwelcoming from the start. No greeting at all when we walked in, it felt like we were inconveniencing the staff just by ordering. For a specialty shop with premium pricing, the experience should be welcoming or some what friendly from staff?? After all the customers are what keep business open... Speaking of pricing: I fully understand imported snacks come at a markup. But $10 (before tax) for a single soda is excessive. I ordered a BLT, two sodas, chips, and candy, and the total was shockingly high for what we received. There's a difference between niche pricing and feeling taken advantage of. What really sealed it for me, though, was the lack of professionalism. We chose to eat outside, and shortly after, the employee who made our sandwiches came outside and began smoking weed near the seating area. The smell was extremely strong and made me nauseous to the point where I couldn't even enjoy my food. Regardless of personal choices, that's simply not appropriate around customers who are actively eating. As far as the sandwich goes, and why I still have 3 stars- the BLT was exceptional and probably the best I've ever had. I would pay for it again but won't be back due to all other aspects. So take that as you will! A cool concept can only carry a place so far. Between the service, the pricing, and the overall atmosphere, this wasn't an experience I'd repeat.

We grabbed two breakfast sandwiches, one with bacon and one without, and both were standout in their own way. The first thing you notice? These sandwiches come out piping hot, wrapped tight and ready to go. Crack them open and you're hit with perfectly cooked eggs and an almost ridiculous amount of gooey, melted cheese. Not skimpy, not balanced, loaded in the best possible way. The Kaiser roll deserves its own shoutout: lightly toasted with just enough crunch on the outside while staying soft and pillowy inside. It holds everything together without getting soggy, even with all that cheese. * The meat version had crispy, flavorful bacon layered just right, salty, smoky, and not overdone. * The meatless one didn't feel like a compromise at all, still rich, filling, and honestly just as indulgent thanks to the cheese and eggs.
