    Espresso martini with mezcal
    Indiana L.

My friend and I came here for a drink as it was recommended by another local. He said the bartender named Cheston was the best bartender in the west and he was not kidding. We tried the espresso martini made by him with mezcal and it was delicious. Usually I don't like espresso but this drink was made to perfection. The staff, including Cheston, are very friendly. Made us feel welcomed the entire time. Next time, I want to try their food as I hear their food is delicious as well. If you're in the area, you must stop by and at least have a drink.

Highly recommend! I would come back for the Brussels sprouts alone. We had the delicious Lumberjack burger and fries and Draper chicken with veggies and mashed potatoes. Everything was tasty, hot and fresh! Cocktails: best old fashioned we have had and also a French 75. We topped it off with the best pistachio gelato I have ever tasted. Atmosphere is perfection and the service was wonderful! Loved everything!

    Lumberjack Burger

Ordered takeout from here for dinner yesterday, was pleasantly surprised. Pretty tasty stuff, better than a lot of other burgers/sandwiches I've had on the island. Not sure if I could confidently say they're the best, but I feel like I got what I paid for, which for eating out on Bainbridge feels pretty nice. Their thin curly fries held up pretty well as take-out. Nicely seasoned, not uniformly crisp, especially by the time we ate them, but they were still pretty good. The Lumberjack Burger and the Grilled Chicken sandwich both have a noticeable kick. Seems like good food to eat with a drink, and a nice space to do it in - although picking up food was a little confusing at first because of the way they seem to be sharing their space. The Brioche buns didn't seem distinctly Brioche-y compared to most of the Brioche I've had but ultimately the sandwiches were tasty. If you're an islander you should give this place a try! Happy with what I got.

It was easy to join the waitlist for a reservation in person since they don't accept premade reservations on weekends. My friends and I weren't too hungry so we got the chili oil prawn noodle and beef pho to share. I liked the chewiness of the noodles and the shrimp was tasty even though the bok choy was a bit bitter for my taste. The pho was my favorite between the two dishes. The flavor was great (and I have high standards for pho) and there was a good amount of beef and noodles in there. I enjoyed dipping the Chinese donut in the pho even though I'm used to having it with congee. Overall it was a great experience with great food. I'm eager to come back and try other things on the menu.

We finally got back to Bainbridge yesterday, after a few years of being too busy to make it work. During this time I haven't stopped thinking about Ba Sa and have even tried to scratch the itch by going to their sister restaurant, Ramie in Seattle and while it's good, it's not the same flavors or style as Ba Sa. I'm so glad that I got to introduce my husband and kids to Ba Sa and they loved it as much as I do! Everything was delicious, here's what we ordered: Truffle dumplings: so good, chili sauce was just a tickle and perfect Sweet soy glazed wings - we fought over these! Perfect sticky glaze with good crunch as well Dry aged beef pho - this is probably some of the best pho I've had in Seattle. The broth was luscious and packed with favor without being greasy. Noodles were perfectly cooked and beef was delicious! Fried noodles with tempura shrimp - also so good and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Shrimp were large, well fried and coated with delicious sauce Pork banh mi - spicy but really balanced and good flavor. The bun was a little big and hard to eat but the quality and taste was there I'm so glad it was as delicious as I remembered and can't wait to come back. We sat on the patio and it was a perfect day. Tables are a bit sticky but I think that's due to the finish on them vs not being cleaned. We will be back!

Our son's been wanting to take us here for a long time and chose this, our first visit, as his wedding anniversary gift to us, his very dear and suffocatingly loving parents. The first thing that struck us were the variety of Italian foods and ingredients for sale in the grocery part of the restaurant. I bought the Garlic Scape Pesto because I've never had that type of pesto sauce so, why not? The staff at the front counter, who also doubled as hosts and wait staff, were very friendly. We arrived early for our reservation and only had a short wait before being seated at our table. We sat in the larger, outdoor section that was inside a tent. Our table offered great views of the outside and of the restaurant interior. I'm not sure why but when our son called in our reservation we had to pre-order our dishes and he had to pay for it then. The benefit of this was that after we were seated our orders came to our table within 10 minutes. We ordered the Vr11 Caesar Salad (which came with lemon-infused croutons!), two wood-fired pizzas and the Eggplant Parmigiana. The Caesar Salad appeared modest but when eating it, the lemon-infused croutons gave it a wow factor. My pizza was the Pizza Calabrese with two types of spicy Calabrian sausage, a Tropea Onion Jam, scarmozza (smoked mozzarella cheese, roast red peppers and grana padano. I didn't really get the smokiness in the cheese nor did the sausage chunks on pizza taste that spicy. But the clear star of the show was that Tropea Onion Jam which WAS spicy because I think 'NDuja sausage was mixed in with it. THERE was the heat I was looking for within a huge burst of flavor. That jam alone made the pizza. Our son loved his Pizza Carbonara ("It was amazing!") with the large dollops of stracciatella cheese with cured egg yolk, and curled guanchiale (pork jowl). This was our first tasting of guanchiale (our son graciously let me sample his pizza) and it was good. It was more like sliced pancetta and it was good. He loved his pizza but I tell ya, mine with that onion jam had already won me over. How much did my wife enjoy her Eggplant Parmigiana (which she also let me sample)? My wife usually doesn't finish her restaurant entrees. She finished this one. Nice marinara sauce flavors mixed with grated Grana Padano cheese and tender sliced grilled eggplant. I didn't pick up any grilled flavor from the eggplant but the dish was delicious. This was our son's second visit and we'd like to return for his third and our second. Both the grocery and restaurant are definite winners.

We were in the covered patio and it was heated, which worked well since it got cooler and rainy within a few minutes of us getting there. Their ambiance is casual and they have servers but you don't end up interacting much with them. We ordered the margherita pizza, the funghi e tartufo, the hot lovers pasta with shrimp (level 3 spice), the spinach ravioli. Everything was delicious. My personal favorite was the mushroom pizza and the hot lovers pasta. The pasta definitely had a kick to it for level 3. The shrimp could have been replaced with alternative meat option because it didn't absorb the sauce like I would have liked it to. The ravioli was done well. The margherita was very tasty. They gave bread with the pasta but it was just super bland and there was no olive oil or butter with it. Overall, decent place to come and get a quick, filling meal. They could work on their table accompaniments more.

I love the managers and some of the long term staff. Today I decided to give it another go. Now, I'm going to say this KNOWING I'm insanely picky. I ordered the sashimi tuna tacos with no coleslaw. It was DRY - ZERO sauce. I dumped all the tuna into one little pile. I should have taken a picture. It was less than 1/4 cup of Tuna. Nearly $20 bucks. I took ONE bite. It was grizzly and tasted NOTHING like tuna sashimi. It just tasted like old fish. They were gracious enough to take it off my ticket. Then! Let's talk about the VOLUME ON THE TV! They've NEVER wanted to be considered a sports bar. Game is on but the volume is minimal to none. OMG. Tonight it was RIDICULOUS. I asked the bartender to please turn it down. She did, a little. But. When I'm YELLING across two feet at the bartender, she can't hear me and I can't hear her?!?! Then she kept talking with her back turned ‍. When I asked if she'd turned down the volume? She said "I did, but commercials are always louder in case you left the room". After paying $25 dollars for ONE glass of wine, I couldn't take it anymore. I send dozens of tourists here EVERY WEEK. I think they'd be fine. However, I won't be back anytime soon.

We had reservations so we did not need to wait long to be seated. Service overall was pleasant. There was a Happy Birthday note on the table which was really cute and appreciated. They didn't have enough menus for those they seat. We were initially provided one to share with apologies. Later they brought us another one. For a restaurant with these prices we would think they'd have enough menus printed for patrons. When we started to order we learned they were out of the house made bread and the marinated olives and toasted almonds. Our reservation was pretty early in the evening so, similarly to Seabird, we were dumbfounded how items like this were already not planned for well nor available with a small menu. We didn't want any other starter so moved along. I ordered the country steak bavette steak going against the risk from other reviews, but I really wanted steak. The steak was cooked med rare like requested. The steak itself was okay. The interesting part was the spread of green sauce and other did not add any flavor to the experience. It could not have been there and same difference. I can't say I'd order again. The Agate Burger was kind of dry and I would not order that again. Someone else had undercooked. Ours seemed over cooked. Like pizza, burgers are one of those items that I'm always shocked when it's not basic enjoyable. When you've made basic and delicious burgers at home, you know it would take extra work to make it unsatisfying. Everyone loves a grilled burger. Ling cod and prawns - Ling Cod was cooked REALLY well, but the overall dish lacked flavor and left you again unsatisfied. We asked to see the dessert menu (of which we were given 1), but even though it was my birthday we made the decision to skip dessert. We enjoyed dessert at home. Others seemed to have different experiences so you can decide, but it's not a cheap gamble. It was hard to ignore the glaring chipped wall right next to our table. I'm not really sure how I feel about the ambiance. Seems like a small thing, but the candle wasn't lit. Had to ask for a light. It wouldn't. Had to ask for another one to be brought.
