On a cold January Tuesday evening, my wife, daughter, and I stopped in for dinner around 530pm. Despite not having a reservation, we were quickly seated at a table by the door. The dining room had subdued lighting, with candles on the tables and jazz piped in. My wife was a cheap date and ordered the shrimp Po' Boy. My daughter went with a medium-rare filet, and I went big with a medium-rare rib-eye steak. Salads are not offered with the steak entrees, which was surprising at these prices, but did come with veggies and fries, think skinny fries. After a longish wait, our meals arrived. The steaks were excellently prepared and yummy. My wife enjoyed her shrimp as well. We all decided the fries could have been better, and the veggies, squash, and broccoli were just so-so. Our server was fine but not particularly engaging. I feel the prices are too high for what was delivered. At $69, my rib-eye should have included a small house salad and bread, but it didn't. read more

My friend and I came here for a drink as it was recommended by another local. He said the bartender named Cheston was the best bartender in the west and he was not kidding. We tried the espresso martini made by him with mezcal and it was delicious. Usually I don't like espresso but this drink was made to perfection. The staff, including Cheston, are very friendly. Made us feel welcomed the entire time. Next time, I want to try their food as I hear their food is delicious as well. If you're in the area, you must stop by and at least have a drink. read more

We decided to go to this steakhouse for our anniversary as we were visiting the area. It was disappointing experience overall. Pros: The appetizer of lobster bisque was amazing! The bread they served with it was mediocre. I got the chicken dish and it was perfectly cooked and delicious. The service was good. Cons: my husband got the most expensive steak on the menu, I believe it was supposed to be a ribeye, but whatever he got was not a ribeye! It felt like maybe they ran out of the good steaks and swapped out a cheaper cut but charged for the expensive steak. It was thin and tough. Ended up, giving most of it to the dog. We also got a Caesar salad that was absolutely out of a bottle. It was so bland and boring. I didn't even finish mine and I'm a salad eater. We decided not to get dessert as we were disappointed enough . We will never be back. read more

Visiting from out of town and decided to take the evening ferry to Bainbridge Island so we could see the Seattle skyline all lit up. Once we got to the island we realized that most businesses had closed for the night. We talked with a local who recommended us to the Islander for drinks and bite. We walked in and our server (this red headed, super funny dad joking guy named Mark(?)) helped us out. He made sure to remind us about the ferry so we made it back in time and didn't get stranded on the island. We had some drinks, which were nice. He talked to us about the town as well. The food was good too. I ordered the brussel sprouts and my friend ordered the lobster bisque (sooo yummy)! We had wonderful service, good food and drinks and felt quite welcome. The place is small and very homey. You could feel the small town, local vibe from everyone but we never felt like intruding outsiders. Came in for dinner or tried to at least. Was not aware it is 21+ since we got sat and was not carded. We waited about 5-7 minutes for our server to come over, enough time to pick out what we wanted for dinner. Only for him to tell us we couldn't eat there because I forgot my wallet and didn't have my ID. Though I wasn't drinking, my partner showed his ID that he is 28 and I am 29 years old which I did tell our server. I don't look underage though I wish. Really disappointed with this service was excited to try the burger. As a former service industry server and bartender I felt that our business was not welcome. Highly recommend! I would come back for the Brussels sprouts alone. We had the delicious Lumberjack burger and fries and Draper chicken with veggies and mashed potatoes. We had the salmon and the NY steak. Everything was pretty good, but a bit undersalted. Same for the drinks. The grilled vegetables were good with chimichurri and some salt and pepper. If you find your food to be a bit bland, ask for their chimichurri and it'll spruce things up! we enjoyed out meals. The server was attentive and pleasant. The decor around the place is by a particular artist who has a really kooky style.. it's a good conversation point! Prices were reasonable considering the location. Portions were good too. Ordered takeout from here for dinner yesterday, was pleasantly surprised. Pretty tasty stuff, better than a lot of other burgers/sandwiches I've had on the island. Not sure if I could confidently say they're the best, but I feel like I got what I paid for, which for eating out on Bainbridge feels pretty nice. Their thin curly fries held up pretty well as take-out. Nicely seasoned, not uniformly crisp, especially by the time we ate them, but they were still pretty good. The Lumberjack Burger and the Grilled Chicken sandwich both have a noticeable kick. Seems like good food to eat with a drink, and a nice space to do it in - although picking up food was a little confusing at first because of the way they seem to be sharing their space. The Brioche buns didn't seem distinctly Brioche-y compared to most of the Brioche I've had but ultimately the sandwiches were tasty. If you're an islander you should give this place a try! My wife's favorite is the scallops, which is a large portion of scallops and have always been perfectly cooked. My favorite is the fried shrimp poboy, which is amazing, great sauce, great bread, and the shrimp are so plentiful they are falling out. Also, the shoestring fries are amazing. Highly recommended, they do take reservations, but we haven't needed them so far and the parking is super easy. read more

We popped in over a girls weekends and really enjoyed the food. My toddler and I worked quite a bit and really enjoyed each dish. Came here with some friends I stayed with in the area. Of all the places I got to try on the island, this is the one I'd come back to the most often if I lived here. I ordered the Mushroom Chicken which was amazing and exactly what I wanted, which was elevated comfort food. I got to try a bite of the Cauliflower Steak my friend ordered which was similarly great and I'd happily order. The beer offerings (barrel aged stout, local hefeweizen, and hazy IPA) were fantastic and my friends enjoyed their cocktails. The reason I feel the need to drop the review is because I genuinely love spots like this and wish more where closer to where I live. On the night I was there there was one gentleman (who I've since been told is the owner) handling all the front of house duties, he was extremely kind and I was impressed by how much care he took in serving and chatting with his patrons. I got the impression that this isn't the kind of place you drag your kids to, or bring a large party to get waisted. There are a million loud bars in the world and places to eat that will get greasy food to you more cheaply and quicker, this isn't that kind of place. It's a quiet and intimate spot where you can have a long conversation with someone over great food and drinks. I only hope I have more excuses to fly up north and visit again! read more

Great service and well executed cooking. That's what will have us return for another meal. But next time we'll make reservations as it was getting crowded as people are noticing this small restaurant. We started with the lobster bisque and there was a healthy amount of lobster pieces in the bisque. The broth was rich and flavorful. I had the shrimp poboy and there were so many pieces of shrimp in the sandwich that I began eating it open faced. The bread was perfectly pillowy soft but firm enough to hold up to the sandwich and the aioli dressing was just spicy enough without being overpowering. The frites on the side were crunchy. My wife ordered the halibut and she loved it with the mashed potatoes. She ate all of it, where she normally has me finish her meal. The owners were both working either behind the bar or on the floor and served us as required. The food was served promptly. Besides their cocktails and wines, they have a good selection of draft beers. They made our very short list of restaurants we'll return to on BI. read more

If you are a part of more than 4 forget getting seated. They say if you call and leave your name someone will call you back to make a reservation BUT no reservations allowed until 5pm. It appears you need to know someone to get a booth. Food was good portion BUT service needs an attitude adjustment, our server did not even apologize for trouble with reservations. Asparagus and TNT shrimp for apps was awesome. I had the top sirloin and prawns is was perfect love love love it. My wife had the islander turf and she loved it. The buttery sauce on the steak was soo good. The service was fantastic Christy took care of us and treated us like family.
