"Oh my, that is good!" became our repeated refrain throughout our lunch. The empanadas had a delicious dough with a fabulous texture. The filling was rich and complex. The mini lamb pitas were amazing. The lamb had an incredible long cooked flavor. Messy to eat, and yes, I can't wait to have another. The garlic shrimp was nice, just not as special as everything else we sampled. The cauliflower is well cooked with a few crispy bits and complimented with a couple almonds (could have used a few more!) and that sauce I want to bottle and take home. Note to me: do more interesting things with cauliflower at home. Pretty good parking. But located in a little building with other restaurants. I wandered into Bainbridge Bistro by chance, not realizing they had just rebranded a few days earlier. What a wonderful surprise. This was probably the friendliest experience I've had with a restaurant owner or staff since moving to Washington five years ago. I dined alone and ended up having a genuinely lovely conversation with the wine tender about food, running restaurants, and even Tacoma spots I recommended--something I'll remember fondly. The food was excellent. The scallops were perfectly cooked, served in a thin but creamy garlic sauce. The spinach pies were exactly what I've been craving since leaving the East Coast: flaky filo pastry with a rich, cheesy spinach filling. Even the coffee, served French press style, was smooth and satisfying--I only needed a touch of sugar and cream. The atmosphere is just as thoughtful as the food. The lighting is dim in the best way--soothing and easy on the eyes--paired with soft instrumental music that creates a calm, elegant environment. Fresh roses at every table are a beautiful touch. It's the kind of place I'd recommend both for a romantic date night and for a quiet, restorative meal if you (or your neurodivergent friends) need a break from overstimulation. My teen and I dropped in for an early lunch. The owner/host greeted us warmly, gave us some advice on the menu, and we ordered hummus, cauliflower, and the chicken main to share. All were amazing. Service was also great, too, and we appreciated the care that went into the place. My daughter is a self-proclaimed hummus expert and she was impressed with the hummus, loved the chicken, and learned that cauliflower is good sometimes. What a wonderful surprise! My wife and I came here to celebrate our anniversary, having never been before but intrigued by the menu, and as vegetarians I can now say that the food is SUPERB! From the potatoes to the cauliflower to the hummus, incredible, but the highlight of the savory was the mushroom dish, and the evening was finished with a delicious creme brûlée and coffee. We didn't have a reservation, but they accomodated us! Great, personable service. Provided info about many of the plates we ordered. Everything was delish! My husband and I ordered three small plates each and shared. Great variety and not that pricey. There was a bowl of beaded bracelets on the counter. Bainbridge Tapas was an exciting small eatery, something Bainbridge desperately needs more of in every way. Few tables, great service, and spectacular food for prices normal people can afford. I really appreciate the attention to detail on the portion sizes and the prices that reflect that which enable a true tapas experience. I tasted so many amazing flavors, and they really knocked that out of the park for us. The kitchen looked lively, the staff was friendly and hospitable and didn't hover or pester but didn't forget we exist, ingredients were all clearly top shelf, and even the iced tea was brewed in-house. Mind. Blown. Every thing we ordered here knocked our socks off. The mushroom soup and the manchego and membrillo were my favorites but everything was incredible. I don't even typically like spanakopita or tiramisu but I absolutely loved their take on these dishes and would absolutely order both again. Plenty of incredible vegetarian options.
