Super nice staff, amazing views of the marina on a beautiful day. We loved the clam chowder (more like a soup, but perfect) and the salmon banh mi. The chicken Caesar salad used a lot of the center of the head, but was still fine. We had two (one entree, one side) so you can see the size comparison. The only minus is a 5% surcharge for kitchen staff tips. It's management's job to sort that out, and not have an extra fee on the bill. Not gonna lie but I think the Doc's experience has degraded a bit since I was last here (and a regular with my parents). Stopped in for a bite of dinner after we were torn between another local pub (near Safeway) or here. We both had such fond memories of Docs and that led us to our choice. Got seated quickly but it took kinda forever to get even water delivered much less a drink order placed. We decided to make our dinner order too because of the drink delay. Hubby was too happy that they had his fav beer - black butte porter -available so her ordered that. My Chardonnay was from WA which is not my fav but it was a choice of $11/glass or $20/glass for an overpriced, under-tasting CA option. Our dinner came almost too quickly. 3 piece fish and chips. First impression: wow, that's hardly any fries. Second impression: wow, how long have these been sitting out. You can always depend on Docs fries to be amazing but not this time. They were limp, soggy and just about inedible. We did let our waiter know and he did reorder us a batch but they came almost at the end of our dinner tho. BUT these were the fries we rave about at Docs... hot, crispy, real potatoes. Yum! Now the fish: the cod itself was perfect. Thick, fresh, hot, moist but I don't know what this 'crusting' is. It's like it's been rolled in seasoned cracker crumbs then fried sure it's crispy but it's like it's encased in edible armor. Not a fan. The batter they used to have was so superior to this. I was disappointed to be honest. Upon paying and leaving hubby says: well, we won't do that again. It's too bad because it was such a regular hangout for us with my folks who just about everyone knew by name. It's also my first time back since they passed (2021) so I really was missing them. Before I say anything, the customer service here is amazing. Our server was a really kind man who got our food out fast and filled our waters very fast. The first thing I noticed was that the napkins we got were either stained or just not washed, which was not the best thing to see walking to our table. We order the calamari, and the presentation is nice, but the calamari is just too chewy. My family ordered the big doc burger, fish and chips, fish tacos, and black bean veggie burger. The fish and chips just weren't good at all, no taste, and honestly hard on the inside. The big doc burger was insanely salty, bread tasted fine, but the salt just ruined the whole entire dish. The fact that multiple people have commented about meat being salty might say something...Fish tacos were actually really good, no comment on them. Presentation was good also. Last was the veggie burger, and the main problem was it just really only hated like bean and cumin. Couldn't finish half. I hate to review this place so badly because the server really was amazing. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly and immediately seated. While following our host, we laughed at the saying on the back of his shirt, "We are more than a big deck". Our server, Cruz, was a delight and engaged us in a true conversation, not a hurry up and order conversation. Our drink selection and food arrived very quickly, was presented beautifully and tasted fresh and wonderful. You have to trust my opinion with out pictures because we dove in without hesitation. Stopped in for lunch while exploring the island after a referral from a nearby shop. The staff were fantastic from the second we walked in. They were all very friendly and inviting. We ordered the Clam Chowder, Rockfish Tacos, and Ahi Tuna Tacos. I really enjoyed the clam chowder but the rockfish tacos weren't anything special. They were light and fresh but seemed to lack flavor. The fries were your typical frozen fries that you'd get at any bar. Overall, great location with fantastic staff but average food. The food here was just decent, nothing too special or exciting. It was 1 PM on a Sunday and they were already out of oysters, which was upsetting but understandable. They did have calamari, which was not seasoned very well, but not too chewy. The basil pesto sauce it came with added a fun flavor to it. We ordered the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich & the Prime Rib and Cheddar sandwich. The KFC looks dry, but once you cut open the sandwich, you can see all of the sauce that they've put in there. There was a slight spice to it, but I didn't get any of the gochujang flavor that it said it used. The Prime Rib sandwich could have used more cheese and the au jus could have had a bit more salt. I didn't enjoy it more than the KFC sandwich. The waitress we had was kind and checked in at good times. The wait was only about 15 minutes and there was a lot of seating options, only some with a view of the waterfront. read more

Amazing! I absolutely loved loved loved the clam chowder. It was the best clam chowder I have ever had. The fish and chips was delicious but I couldn't get over how good the chowder was. A friend of mine had the ciopinno and she said it was amazing. It looked like some seafood i simple sauce but she said that the flavor was so good. Maybe next time I'll try that. I came to this spot every time I visit Bainbridge Island. It's a solid seafood spot on the island and it is in downtown so it is very convenient to visit. There are a lot of tables available both indoors and outdoors, so on a nice sunny day the outdoor seating is very good since it overlooks the water. In terms of the food, I would recommend getting the fish and chips and their signature clam chowder. The efficient ships are very solid and it is good for the price. Also, the staff here are a very nice and accommodating , however, the surface can be a little slow, but worth the wait! read more

This was the second time I have eaten here and both times were wonderful! This time around I stopped in with my mom who was visiting. Of course, like a good tour guide, I took her to eat near the water. We shared the crispy calamari which were perfectly crispy and not chewy at all! The aioli sauce was a delicious addition! We also enjoyed a cup of the clam chowder (ate it too fast to take a picture). We shared the lobster Mac and cheese (pictured is a half portion) and it was DELICIOUS! Our waiter was quick and very friendly. We sat in the "outside" area which was covered with a tarp with clear sections to look out and heaters were keeping the area toasty. The two stars are for the kind and understanding wait staff that I had the pleasure of speaking with. I have never had a steak that was practically a bucket of salt. It was mediocre at best--overwhelmingly salty, as if the chef no longer has any sense of taste. I sent it back, and the waitress informed me that four different people tasted it and confirmed it was too salty. All I wanted was a medium steak with little to no sauce, but instead, it came with a thick layer of salt and was drenched in an excessively salty sauce. I was utterly speechless. The sangria, on the other hand, was so sweet that it was difficult to drink. I can confidently say this was one of the worst meals I've ever had. read more

We come to Bainbridge island 4-5 times a year and Doc's is our favorite go to. I don't agree with or understand the bad reviews because every experience we have had with staff has been more than pleasant. The food is always superb, and let's not forget the views. I almost never give a 1 star review, unless a place truly deserves it. And this restaurant TRULY deserves it. If food is bad, I just won't come back and I won't recommend the place. If service is bad, I'll avoid it. But I wouldn't leave a 1 star review. But if you scam me, you have deserved a 1 star review on every platform I can rate you on. Restaurants nowadays don't care if they lose a single customer but they sure do care about reviews, since that's how they get business. Starting off with the fact that the chef has probably never used salt in their lives. Food was pretty bland, no seasoning. Has to empty out the salt shaker in order to taste something. Second was them changing me, for an unseasoned patty for my dog, the price if almost an entire burger. Why? How is it an unseasoned patty more expensive than appetizers. The last was the scam. Our waitress came to us wnen we asked for the bill and just told us the total, without presenting us the receipt first so we see the breakdown. Like it should be usually. She didn't forget, it was intentional. The totla made no sense for 1 appetizer, 1 main (split), 2 beers, and an unseasoned patty. When we finally saw the receipt, and after giving a tip, it turned out that the receipt already included a service charge (tip) before even we could add a tip. But we weren't allowed to see that until we already paid and included our tip. Total we gave for a tip was over 25% and that was not what we wanted or thought that the staff deserved for the service. That was a scam. I understand a service charge if we had 6+ people. We were only 2. And no where was it mentioned that we will have an involuntarily service charge included. What was the most upsetting thingnwas the fact we couldn't see the receipt before adding tip. That way we could've included a tip that we deemed appropriate. That was intentional. I saw the same happened to other tables around us. No one was allowed to see their receipts before paying. Completely inappropriate and unprofessional institution. read more

Love Doc's menu and they are super fast when I order a pick up! Sad they no longer have the shrimp tempura on the menu that was one of my favs and I always got side salad and clam chowder. First time to visit Bainbridge Island and so bummed that we wasted our dinner here. I was trying to treat my mom to a nice Mother's Day meal and this was such an underwhelming experience. Restaurant was not busy at all on a Saturday night (this should have been our first red flag) but it still took the host 10 minutes to show up at the host stand to seat us. Once seated, took our server an additional 15 minutes to even take our drink order. Had a 3 year old with us so this much waiting was really not ideal. Had my heart set on the crab Mac and of course that wasn't available (why? The restaurant was empty...) My child's noodles were cold when they came out. What a bummer. We've been going to Doc's for years. We were just there recently and the quality of the food is not what it used to be. The service is always good-great. It appears the servers are stretched thin at times. Which is not their fault and I'm not factoring that in to this rating. It's a busy place so, maybe others are having better luck with what they order? It's a good idea to make reservations. Even though it's a good sized restaurant, it fills up quickly around meal time. I had looked up dog friendly restaurants on bainbridge and Doc's Marina Grill came up (specifically their patio). It was a beautiful and relatively slow early spring weekend day we came. We did not have reservations, I had my friend walk into the restaurant so I could stay outside with the Pup so she could ask if we could be accommodated outside on the patio with a dog. There was a man up front who welcomed my friend and she let him know my (well behaved ex-K9) German shepherd was not a service animal whatsoever. He said no problem and I was able to come inside with my dog and he lead us through and out to the patio. We were settling in and a server who was bussing the table behind ours asked if the dog was a service animal. I said no he was not and we let the person at the front (who was maybe the owner..?) know he wasn't as well. The server kept going on about how it was illegal, unhygienic, there were children around who could have allergies, maybe patrons had allergies. All understandable and valid but I wouldn't have ever entered had I known this was the way their outdoor patio operates. I let her know in no way did we want to mislead anyone with the dog, he was well behaved, never made a single noise, did not try to steal anyone's French fries from their tables, and was laying down in a corner out of footsway, literally an ex police dog. We were also outside on the patio and not indoors. She kept rolling her eyes at us and told us she wasn't sure how we got in with the dog. To be fair he's a huge German shepherd. Which is why I'm very clear and transparent and don't enter an establishment (esp a restaurant) with him without express permission. He LOOKS like a service dog because of his stature and temperament. We had been waiting for about 10ish minutes with no water or silverware before she came up behind us to buss the table and make comments toward us. She never asked us explicitly to leave but made it known she was unhappy. We were uncomfortable enough to leave ourselves. So all in all, even tho their website and multiple google reviews say their patio is dog friendly, maybe it's not actually. Maybe up to server discretion? Consider calling ahead. When you get there, maybe consider checking with all of the waitstaff, too? read more

Good service, and I had a chicken sandwich which was perfectly prepared. It was a great sandwich. We were seated right away, even though the restaurant was busy on a Saturday afternoon. The manager took our drink order, and the server took our food order. It took a few minutes to flag someone down for ketchup for our fries. When we asked for our check, the drinks and food were on separate orders. They charged for 4 drinks when we only had three, and we were surprised to see a mandatory 5% charge to help the employees. We tipped on top of all of this. We will probably go back, but we will be much more careful about paying. They have the cooking down; service needs some attention. read more

I have a lazy eye and have been teased all my life. Came from Seattle to experience this gorgeous restaurant and assumed the service was going to be great because the hostess with the awesome aquatic tattoos was the sweetest. Instead, we ordered drinks and as I hand over my id our server says, "what the heck is going on with your eye in this photo?" and chuckled. Very unprofessional. We left quietly and my husband connected with the manger as I cried outside from embarrassment. My soup, which was my entrée, came out 5-10 minutes after everyone else's food. By the time it arrived, some people were already done eating. It was super oily and had pieces of shell in it (after only eating two spoon fulls) We asked to speak with the manager and showed him the shells. It was fast food calamari on deep fried kale that was a mess of green crisps of nothing! Came here for the first time from Cali, and I'm so disappointed with the service. We still tipped her, but she literally forgot about us. I was trying to be nice so she could feel comfortable, but it didn't work. When I got to the table, I was ready to order, and she said she needed more time??? There were no other tables in the restaurant, but okay. Then when she came back, we ordered, she brought the plates, and left us for a LONG time. I finished my food, and she didn't even ask if everything was good. I started staring at her, waiting for her to come, and when I was about to stand up to ask for dessert, she finally showed up. We ordered dessert, and when she brought it, she just left the plate there -- didn't even say "enjoy." Plus, our water glasses were empty and she never refilled them. The restaurant was EMPTY. I don't understand why we got this kind of treatment. I work in customer service, and this was honestly disappointing. Never coming back here again. I don't recommend this place -- now I see why they only have 3.5 stars. By the way, when we were leaving, she didn't even say bye -- only the lady at the bar did. read more
