Macho Burrito

Came here after a long day of traveling and it was pretty much exactly what I expected. A basic, busy, colorful and warm restaurant. The staff was kind but very busy and therefore slow to attend to us. It took forever to get our drink and food orders placed and even longer for them to get us the check! Otherwise it was decent, the food was good and the Shirley Temple I got was one of the better ones I've had! Overall super busy but not bad at all.

Totally solid Mexican place right on the main strip of Bainbridge - a five minute walk from the ferry. The place is huge and service is quick and friendly - we had our meal within seven or eight minutes of sitting down. We went with some chicken taquitos and some frozen margaritas the size of our head - both were classic, solid choices. The taquitos were satisfying and cheesy after a long bike ride and the margarita was refreshing. We also appreciated the plentiful free chips with bean dip and salsa. One curious thing - the men's bathroom only had urinals - which causes some... issues. There was a gender neutral/people with disabilities bathroom with a toilet but there was a line.

We came for the troll, stayed for Winslow, and craved a margarita. Isla Bonita seemed like the perfect stop. It was a busy weekend on Bainbridge, and the restaurant definitely reflected that--crowded, loud, and running on island time. We were seated quickly, but the host gave off strong "just here so I don't get fined" vibes. No greeting, no words, just chips dropped on the table like a mystery offering. Thankfully, our server was much more personable and helped turn the experience around a bit. The drinks were a mixed bag. My husband's margarita was fine, but my mai tai came with a confession: "I've never made one before." It showed. It was strong, and not in a good way. I swapped it for a piña colada, which was much more my speed. Service was painfully slow. It took nearly an hour for our food to arrive, and while it was good, it wasn't anything to write home about. Solid, standard Mexican fare that satisfied the craving but didn't wow. Isla Bonita has potential, especially for a casual bite after island adventuring, but go in with patience and low expectations if it's a busy weekend. And maybe skip the mai tai.

The Tacoquitos are also delicious- my other half ordered these

Not my first visit to this lovely Mexican restaurant on Bainbridge Island today - but it was my first time having the chicken enchiladas (with a side of pico de gallo) - such a delicious lunch! Great food combined with top notch service and colorful decor

We came to the island for a wedding and we needed a dinner plan! This place should not have been our choice! 1 - when we went in there was literally NONONE else, so please tell me how it still took 40 mins for 3 entrees? 2 stars because my food was decent enough!

I am not sure what we were thinking trying to find good Mexican food on Bainbridge Island. We dined on the bar side. The bartender/server did a great job on her own to serve, take orders, bus tables, and make drinks. The food wasn't terrible. There were actually some bright spots. To start the complimentary bean and cheese dip, salsa, and chips were quite tasty 4/5. We also ordered guacamole 3/5, chicken fajitas 2/5 (dry julienne cut chicken), and asada tacos 3.5/5 (tasted okay, but served more like enchiladas). I ordered a top shelf margarita that was large, potent, and not terribly priced 4/5.

Food was great, portions were massive, but service was okay. We were seated quickly and got to ordering right away. The server only came to us a couple times when the restaurant wasn't really busy at the time. Everyone did leave the place pretty full and with leftovers as well!

Very bland awful food and really expensive don't waste your money here not worth it at all

Kids menu: mini nachos My kids said "This is the best combination kids plate!!"

We had a very good time here! Kids loved their food. If you have kids you should come here. (Also there's a toy store next door.) My food was sooooo gooood!

As Californians, we didn't expect to find excellent Mexican food on Bainbridge Island! Not only was the decor bright and colorful, but the food was delicious. We enjoyed the sampler platter and could not finish it.

We randomly stopped at this place as we were hungry after walking in the island. The service was ok, food was served quickly but not all of them were great. Drinks options were limited too.

Aloha, walking around this quaint town, after a fun day of pickleball and heading back on the ferry to the mainland, when on Bainbridge Island and thirsty, Isla Bonita (beautiful island) serves up a very nice margherita, that'll satisfy your thirst. Add a basket of homemade chips with salsa, satisfies your slight hunger to hold you over till dinner. Would have definitely eaten here had we had more time. Food on next table looked awesome and plentiful. Next to hubbies, best margherita around. Enjoy!

I planned to escape from Seattle's city tourism for a day, and took the ferry to Bainbridge Island. Don't get me wrong, Seattle has some wonderful attractions. The Museum of Flight is a world class sight that should not be missed. Seattle was roasting when I was there in August, so the ferry to Bainbridge Island was a great idea. Easy and remarkably inexpensive, the ferry gets you to a slower pace place in a short time. Realizing that I was there on August 16 (Madonna's birthday), it made perfect sense to go to Isla Bonita for lunch. This restaurant is a family-run, big-portions, satisfying kind of place that just feels so comfortable. The Mango Margarita was big, juicy and cool. The two enchilada combo was the perfect amount of flavorful Mexican cuisine. Helpful and efficient service too.

San Carlos Restaurant - Tostada and super salty rice.

San Carlos Restaurant

San Carlos is a bit hit or miss…read more First, the hits: - It's open on a Tuesday, when many places on the island are closed. - Tons of indoor and outdoor seating, all comfy and welcoming. - The Tuesday $5 Margarita specials are not to be beat! Sure you can go across town and get yourself (likely) a better margarita for $18, but why?! San Carlos's were just fine, and you could have plenty! - Chips and salsa were a hit, as was their homemade guacamole. Our server, Molly, said that Bainbridge isn't really a "zesty demographic", but the salsa was a lot spicier than I expected. And she brought some habanero hot sauce for even more zing! - The veggie burrito my girlfriend ordered was really good. Well worth the $18. - The house made flan was excellent! Not to be missed! - Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Molly was a gas! Now, the misses: - I ordered the tostada. It was pretty simple: refried beans spread on a flat crispy tortilla, topped with tomatoes and lettuce. Nothing fancy, but perfectly edible. The Spanish rice that came with it was the saltiest rice I've ever had. Frankly, it was inedible. So, effectively, I paid $16 for a medium-sized tostada and nothing else! - Our orders got "misplaced" a couple of times (drinks and second chips), and in both cases when we enquired, Molly rushed our missed order through and got it to us pronto. That's certainly a hit, but the fact that the orders were missed in the first place.... I wouldn't call San Carlos the best Mexican on Bainbridge Island. But there are a lot of upsides, and I know we'll certainly be back. Especially on Tuesdays!!

We had pre "Improv" dinner reservations; the restaurant being across the street from Bainbridge…read morePerforming Arts Center which deserves a 5 star review! Our table was in the bar as requested, we received a warm friendly greeting and were seated immediately. The bartender/server was attentive and as we were in no hurry. We had 4 different varieties of margaritas from the long list all of which met with our complete satisfaction. I personally liked the appearance of the restaurant from the street, it's an old house. You enter from the back door set in a wall covered in automobile license plates. Odd but in keeping with the Mexican roadhouse vibe. The bar was busy warm and cozy, not loud and obnoxious as sometimes accompanies television screens with sports shows. They aren't trying to be a sports bar which again is in keeping with the theme. Prices are what I would call "expected" and similar to other local Mexican food places mentioned by other reviews. Food quality and quality are likewise very similar to the offerings of their local competitors.

I saw their placard outside advertising their Tuesday street taco lunch special, and thought I'd give it a try. You can either dine in or take away. From what I saw, there was a lot of traffic during the lunch hour, and about 50% did takeaway. I opted to eat in the restaurant. It's strictly cafeteria style. You order what you'd like from their staff at the counter, they prep the food for you as you move along the length of the counter, and then they ring you up at the end. They have five booths opposite the counter. These were all occupied when I got there, but one opened up when I was ready to sit down. The tables in the back look less comfortable than the booths, so I was thankful for that. I ordered two tacos, each made with softshell corn tortillas, and pulled chicken. They were good, but I've had better. I ordered their hottest salsa, and frankly, it wasn't very spicy. I guess they may be catering to the PNW palate. The two tacos were quite full of meat and other ingredients, and were accompanied by rice and beans. You can get whole black, whole pinto, or refried. I opted for whole pinto. I was full and satisfied when I was done. They were busy the whole time I was there (it was the lunch hour). Staff was courteous and efficient, which is good, but I didn't feel particularly welcome. But they were busy, so I chocked it up to that.

The ambiance is attractive and we were immediately greeted and seated upon our arrival. There is a private lot. I started with an exotic drink with mezcal and fresh blackberries since this is blackberry country. I forget the name but it is on the picture. It was delicious. The wife had Passion Fruit and it was also delicious. For entrees, the wife had chicken mole and did not care for it. The chicken was bone-in which is normally fine, but she did not care for this chicken. The mole was very spicy. There is a difference between flavorful with a kick or slow burn, but this was overtly spicy. She did not eat much and did not take it home. I had an exotic dish which I don't remember the name but it was essentially a chicken stew served in mortar bowl. Rice and black beans came on the side, but I added them to the stew to make it thicker. It was delicious. Very flavorful with a slow burn. If the review were based on this dish alone, it would be 5 stars. Our server was attentive and helpful.
