The pizza is by far one of my top favorites in the area. Their gluten free crust is great and the sauce and toppings are even better. The service is quick and the ambiance inside is cool. I ordered pickup on a Sunday. Online ordering was a bit finicky, and I was disappointed to not have a clear way to get delivery. I ordered a prosciutto pizza and the other was a margherita. They both looked nice but I was disappointed to have them not be hot by the time I got home. I'm three minutes from this hard to find location and I left home as soon as I was notified it was ready. Small location, so they only do takeout. With summer weather they have a few tables tucked in along the sidewalk outside but nowhere to sit inside. Looks like they partner with Island bite for delivery but I wonder how much colder my food would be if I had not gone directly to home. Two pizzas and two salads was expensive. At least it gave enough food for an additional small lunch the day after for each adult. The pizza was honestly better the second day. Visiting from out of state and stumbled on Bene Pizza. It's a to-go or eat outside establishment only but the evening was gorgeous so it was a win to eat out on their patio. We ordered the pear salad, Greek pizza, and buttered noodles. Everything was delicious, huge portions with great quality ingredients. We thoroughly enjoyed all three meals and had plenty for leftovers. The gentleman taking orders was friendly and personable. Fairly underwhelming. Tried the Gorgonzola & Pear / Funghi pizza - altogether just didn't taste all that special; seemed like it didn't amount to more than the sum of its parts - tasted rather like cheap goat cheese, very plain/thin crust, and the candied walnuts weren't all that great as noted by other reviewers. I appreciate that they keep a 50/50 option on their menu though. Despite being a "Gorgonzola" pizza the primary flavor I was tasting for most of it was just mozzarella, and the chevre was the dominant flavor of the "Funghi". It just feels like the food here might be more about seeming special than tasting special, as is unfortunately common here on Bainbridge. It wasn't terrible, I'd eat it again, but it's near the bottom of the list of places I'd order a pizza from on Bainbridge, even if I specifically wanted something fancy. We ordered a couple pizzas from Bene last night, a thin crust with toppings and regular pie. We've lived on the island for 11 years and wanted to try something different (our go-to has always been That's A Some and T & C flatbreads for pizza). *We did try Bene once before when they had a deal going on a few years ago, but thought maybe because of how overwhelmed the staff was fulfilling orders, and that they were all teenagers making the pies --that was why the pies were not that tasty. Our second go at Bene pizza wasn't any different. We were unimpressed and confused about the four star rating. The sauce is bland and the crust flavorless. My husband said it reminded him of frozen Totino pizzas he ate as a kid. The kids said "meh". No one will eat the leftover slices, so it was a waste of money. Almost didn't even see this place. Very easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. But, when you find this place you are going to like it. It is very small, limited seating, but the food is excellent. I ordered the Bolognese and it was delicious. Thick and rich and stuck to the noodles just like it should. I ordered to go and it seemed like a really small box. How could they fit a meal in there? When I got back to my hotel room across the street I began to dig in. He made us a caprese salad Upon request that was out of this world with the perfect amount of salt and a tad of brown butter. The gluten free pizza was the BEST I've ever had! Stood on its own, not a hint of soggy to soft, and was amazing. The prosciutto and asparagus was super yummy. The tiramisu was Out of this world good and the caramel Hilario was yummy as well. On the positive side, my daughter LOVED her pizza. On the less positive side, I ordered pasta with red sauce and meatballs, which are made in house. The pizza was normal sized but the pasta was huge. I didn't actually mind that, because I thought the serving would make four or so meals, I actually ended up eating about a cup's worth and throwing the rest away, which is rare for me because I LOVE pasta. The quality, compared to what I'd paid for the dish actually made me a little angry. The ingredients listed on the menu sounded fancy--maybe unnecessarily so, because honestly I'd rather have more "ordinary" ingredients and more deliciousness. The fresh pasta tasted raw, the meatballs were dry and flavorless and the sauce hadn't developed any depth of flavor. It tasted like someone had assembled the ingredients, cooked them about five minutes, and called it a day. I'd wanted a break from cooking, but if I'd made a similar recipe at home it would have been at least 10 times tastier. I hate speaking badly of any local business, and I also hate wasting food, but it wasn't anywhere close to being worth the calories. read more

My wife and I relocated to Seattle five months before our visit to Bene Pizza. As a way to get out of the city and celebrate successfully moving 3,000 miles away, we decided to spend a long weekend on Bainbridge. We didn't really have any plans other than to see what the island had to offer and decompress. Out of the meals we had, Bene was by far the best. It might have been that we were enjoying dinner and a bottle of wine outside during a warm spring night, but good on them for providing the opportunity. The outside patio is actually a few tables wedged between two buildings and next to a parking lot and yet that didn't seem the matter. The food was better than I expected. There were good tomatoes in the caprese salad, which is fairly preposterous in the state of Washington. The pizza, while I can't remember the specific type, was also inhaled by my wife and I. The bottle of red wine was warm from being in the boiling hot restaurant but the lead waiter happily took it away and chilled it for a bit. Our waitress seemed very new at waitressing in general, so I don't hold that against the place. All in all a quality experience. read more
