It was evident this is a well loved spot on the island the cortado and lavender sugar cookie were a great pair.

A beloved island bakery and I see why. It's charming, inviting, and provides a variety of traditional and more experimental bakery delights. The staff is always kind. I really like the freshly baked wheat loaf, the chocolate mousse, and their soups. I especially enjoyed the spicy peanut stew earlier this year. The quiche, with its beautifully smooth custard and well-seasoned spinach, is excellent. The cakes are beautiful, I love admiring them. They are very expensive, as is turning bread into toast, which adds a significant up charge. I also love their charming array of cookies for each holiday.

So happy I chose this bakery for my first visit to the island because it was everything I thought it would be, comfy, small window into the idyllic island slice of life, and their thick slice toast WAS indeed delightfully delicious and I got to enjoy it at their cute bay window spot looking out on a perfectly sunny day. With a cup of refreshing iced latte. That was actually good espresso and well made. I love fishing and they had the cutest, most intricate trout sugar cookies that day. Yes I attempted to bring it back in one piece and it kinda survived. I really wished I got one of their store memorabilia shirts or something! The servers were all super nice and friendly despite clearly the crazy morning rush and long line of tourists (myself included).

A cute bakery to enjoy a sweet or savory treat (or few) with a delicious hot chocolate or coffee. Stopped in with a group of 4 while being tourists on Bainbridge Island and had a lovely experience ordering and enjoying our treats. A crowd favorite is the Walla Walla roll and we can all see why. A few things to keep in mind - there can be a line but all staff work hard to keep things moving. The space is on the smaller side so things can feel a little tight between the seating and ordering line. Overall enjoyed our experience and recommend checking them out!

Small comfy beverage and dessert place right in the heart of Winslow street. The customer service is great. Got the eggnog chai latte and the americano. Plus the highly rated french roll and the green onion savory scone. Everything was true to perfection. I would definitely be going again!

We took the ferry today to see Bainbridge. We walked to see the Troll "Pia the Peacemaker" then walked back into town and found Blackbird Bakery. I ordered my usual oat milk latte with 4 shots. And we ordered an oatmeal cookie and a slice of vegan chocolate applesauce cake. I wanted to purchase a loaf of their oatmeal whole wheat bread, but the person ahead of me bought the last loaf! One of the lovely things about this place is their art collection of watercolors by an artist who studies birds. They were fantastic. We try to find vegan options... the oatmeal was not vegan but usually it is pretty healthy. This cookie had a lot of sugar taste... too sweet for us. The chocolate cake was moist and just sweet enough! Not my favorite latte but I think it was just not my favorite expresso taste (this is subject to personal preference). There is a smoothness I've come to enjoy and so I look for it when traveling as compared to my local coffee shop in South Carolina.

Visiting downtown Bainbridge for the day and as the rain really started to come down, I had the craving for a good chai latte. It was closer to closing time so there wasn't a lot of pastry options left, which is a good sign. Their menu has traditional coffee and tea options and I went with their Spicy Ginger chai latte. I was hesitant about the ginger but it tasted so good. Cute shop, no thrills. The staff were really pleasant. I'd come back at an earlier time to check out the bakery options!

Cute little bakery, mostly cookies left after 2. Quick service and very organized. The prices seemed a little high, $10 for 3 cookies. But they were cute

It's worth the hype, I would go to bainbridge just for the poke! Also it's right by the ferry terminal so it's conveniently located right by the ferry for pedestrians to just walk to. All of his baked goods are FIRE but the sconenuts are his signature specialty, so don't leave without giving them a try!!! IF you're lucky, catch a bite when the hot side (grill) is open as EVERYTHING is magical - but my hubby swears by Jake's breakfast pesto aioli sammy. Hubs was so addicted that he would swing by EVERY SATURDAY MORNING AFTER BASKETBALL to indulge in this sammy masterpiece. It became his beloved Saturday ritual! If you're lucky you'll get a chance to meet Jake or his wife as they're usually on property - always approachable and ready to chat, you won't find a more lovely couple! They truly represent that small-town, island vibe and you'll leave feeling like you're not a stranger, but definitely a "friend". IF you missed them and they're closed for the day, they have all their goodies packaged and stocked in the grab-n-go fridge next to the cash register. I'm giving this grocery store/restaurant 5 stars because it merits more than just a 4-star 'Good'…read morerating. If Yelp allowed it I'd give it a 4.5. Our son's been wanting to take us here for a long time and chose this, our first visit, as his wedding anniversary gift to us, his very dear and suffocatingly loving parents. The first thing that struck us were the variety of Italian foods and ingredients for sale in the grocery part of the restaurant. I bought the Garlic Scape Pesto because I've never had that type of pesto sauce so, why not? The staff at the front counter, who also doubled as hosts and wait staff, were very friendly. We arrived early for our reservation and only had a short wait before being seated at our table. We sat in the larger, outdoor section that was inside a tent. Our table offered great views of the outside and of the restaurant interior. I'm not sure why but when our son called in our reservation we had to pre-order our dishes and he had to pay for it then. The benefit of this was that after we were seated our orders came to our table within 10 minutes. We ordered the Vr11 Caesar Salad (which came with lemon-infused croutons!), two wood-fired pizzas and the Eggplant Parmigiana. The Caesar Salad appeared modest but when eating it, the lemon-infused croutons gave it a wow factor. My pizza was the Pizza Calabrese with two types of spicy Calabrian sausage, a Tropea Onion Jam, scarmozza (smoked mozzarella cheese, roast red peppers and grana padano. I didn't really get the smokiness in the cheese nor did the sausage chunks on pizza taste that spicy. But the clear star of the show was that Tropea Onion Jam which WAS spicy because I think 'NDuja sausage was mixed in with it. THERE was the heat I was looking for within a huge burst of flavor. That jam alone made the pizza. Our son loved his Pizza Carbonara ("It was amazing!") with the large dollops of stracciatella cheese with cured egg yolk, and curled guanchiale (pork jowl). This was our first tasting of guanchiale (our son graciously let me sample his pizza) and it was good. It was more like sliced pancetta and it was good. He loved his pizza but I tell ya, mine with that onion jam had already won me over. How much did my wife enjoy her Eggplant Parmigiana (which she also let me sample)? My wife usually doesn't finish her restaurant entrees. She finished this one. Nice marinara sauce flavors mixed with grated Grana Padano cheese and tender sliced grilled eggplant. I didn't pick up any grilled flavor from the eggplant but the dish was delicious. This was our son's second visit and we'd like to return for his third and our second. Both the grocery and restaurant are definite winners.

We ordered the margherita pizza, the funghi e tartufo, the hot lovers pasta with shrimp (level 3 spice), the spinach ravioli. Everything was delicious. My personal favorite was the mushroom pizza and the hot lovers pasta. The pasta definitely had a kick to it for level 3. The shrimp could have been replaced with alternative meat option because it didn't absorb the sauce like I would have liked it to. The ravioli was done well. The margherita was very tasty. They gave bread with the pasta but it was just super bland and there was no olive oil or butter with it. Overall, decent place to come and get a quick, filling meal.
