Best breakfast sandwich on the island / maybe the best in Seattle! The egg bacon and cheese on their delicious roll is my absolute favorite.

I'm so glad that Commuter Comforts is at the Bainbridge Ferry Terminal. It is a convenient place to get a coffee, tea or quick bite. They also have beer, wine and cocktails! There's a small amount of seating, but it's not really intended to be a sit down place to have a meal, but rather a place to grab something before or after a ferry ride. On our recent visit before our ferry ride in the morning, we ordered a Bacon Breakfast Sandwich, an Everything Bagel with Cream Cheese, and a couple of chais. We grabbed a couple of stools and happily ate our fare in the 20 minutes before the ferry was scheduled. Tasty and filling. The wait staff behind the counter was pleasant, speedy and helpful. I have tried their cafe latte featuring beet powder and their cappuccino, both. The cappuccino here is quite a hit in my book. Very classy, nice kick to it, nice temperature on the milk. (There's another Bainbridge place where the temperature is notably too hot and it detracts from the enjoyment of the drink.) I like the curated drinks on offer here including craft kombucha, cocktails, and wine at the bar... For a place attached to state highway infrastructure, they could have done a mediocre job, but I note that this is a classy establishment that takes pride in offering good coffee. Now I wonder why Seattle Ferry Terminal cannot have a comparable coffee shop and we have to put up with those drat machines? read more

You treated my wife and I rudely on the 4th of July. After coming for our 1st time to Seattle and Bainbridge our whole day was inconvenienced by your actions!! Always treat everyone with kindness and respect! We waited in line to order a drink, we went to the alcohol side to order a wine and a margarita before our return to Seattle where it said " Order Here" after waiting for about 7 minutes and about 5 customers later I had raised my hand to get your attention and explained that I wanted to order a drink for ourselves. You rudely told me that we needed to order on the coffee side and I explained that we have waited and no one told us that and you argued that I needed to go to the other side. I said what about all the others that had waited AFTER us and you made us cut in line without explanation to the other customers, which put US in a bad light! Instead of apologizing you raised your voice and made us feel uncomfortable in that situation! Shame on you!! If you can't treat customers with kindness and consideration you need not work in this business!! BTW having worked in this business for over 30 years I feel sorry for Commuter Comforts!! read more

Great working staff are always polite and friendly, despite less than average poor ownership.

Wow! Their new location inside the terminal building is awesome. They have a full bar, coffee, breakfast and lunch things. I was starving and ordered their steak sandwich made to order! I love this place so much that I go there as a local....not needing to catch a ferry. The new inside space is gorgeous. I'm excited for them. However, today I ordered my FAVORITE breakfast sandwich, the "Deb's". Got it home and wished I'd just gone to Starbucks or even McDonalds. Commuter comforts have apparently changed everything about this sandwich. I save take out breakfast sandwiches for a special Sunday morning treat. I won't be back anytime soon. So very sad. Great coffee and consistently good food. The inside counter can get busy with food orders occupying their time. If you are in a hurry in the morning, try one of the outside counters. Inside is a great experience if you have a few minutes and want to sit. read more

The customer service here was really good. The employee behind the counter was friendly and welcoming. It's conveniently located just outside of the ferry terminal and prices do reflect that. We just got a couple of Americanos and found it to be just ok. If you need a quick pick-me-up and don't care much about top quality coffee but expect good customer service, this place fits the bill. read more

The steak burrito tastes like a shoe (I've never eaten a shoe but I would imagine it's comparable) . For being the first establishment permitted to conduct business INSIDE the Bainbridge Island ferry terminal, you would think they would take advantage of this opportunity and use it to its utmost potential. We got to the ferry a little early and had time to grab a warm drink before we drove on to the ferry. The nice barista was very friendly and helped us with our choices. I decided on the London Fog. She gave me options on the drink and chatted with us while she prepared them. All 4 drinks were great and just the right temperature. The ferry was late. A member of our traveling party was getting squirrelly and we wanted to quickly get some thing to drink. We hopped out of line and headed up a small hill. Right around the corner there were a dizzying array of choices. For commuters there are bunches of breakfast choices. There are lots of pastries individually wrapped to pair with beverages. After the employee poured my medium drip I exclaimed, "oh, you have sodas!" "Would you like that instead?" she inquired. "Oh no, you already poured the coffee." "It's no problem, you don't know how much coffee I pour out at the end of the day. Did you really want to switch? It's no problem." "Sure!" Commuter Comforts' location, while key to their success, interferes with the recognition they deserve. Truth of the matter is they serve commuters and they serve us well. But, most of the time we are in a rush or otherwise occupied by getting to our destination. So, our gratitude is often a quick thank you and we are often well on our way before we realize how could the beverage or snack we just got really is. For example, their relatively new Anjou breakfast sandwich. Holy Cow! This is the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had and you simply won't find it anywhere else. They obviously worked hard to create a unique taste treat. Simple enough, it's bacon, egg, cheese, bread and a mildly spicy sauce. Wow! I haven't had a chance to research the details. But, I will follow up soon with more details. In the mean time, if you like a little kick with your morning coffee, give this a try! Many other reviewers have commented on the exceptional quality of their coffee. I think it's also worthy to note that they open at 4:00 am on week days and always seem to be in good spirits! This morning was my first time commuting back to work after a year, I thought I would treat myself to a coffee and breakfast to enjoy on the ferry. There was a long wait, but I had time to spare. I got a brioche breakfast sandwich which had a long grey hair in it. No big deal, I picked it out and stomached the rest. It took me awhile to finish my coffee, but my very last sip I felt something on my lip. I opened my lid and fly was in the bottom of my cup. Oh my goddess I ended up losing my breakfast sandwich and won't be able to trust any coffee shop again. Please beware of the hair and pests. read more

A person in front of us asked for his tea to be iced and she basically said that it would take too long and huffed and puffed until he stopped asking and said it was fine. Then my husband and I went to order two blended drinks and she said "I have already put away the blender for the night". I usually love this place but today there was an old Woman working with a beanie on and I have seen her before. Super rude! I wanted a peppermint mocha, she let me know they were out of peppermint. Which okay fine no big deal. Then the woman next to her offered me a free grade latte because they just messed up on a drink. I was about to say sure but the old woman in the beanie snapped at her and said "we won't offer that for free we will sell it to him" 1. The good: A little coffee stand at the ferry terminal with coffee/chai (a great selection of alternative-milks), pastries (some locally made), breakfast sandwiches, etc. Some days you just need a little something to get you through your day and this place is full of those little somethings. The bad: They can be real slow which blows my mind because it's like getting slow service at an airport -- we're all here because we're on our way somewhere and we can't be late -- but all the same, people will chit chat in front of you in line like you aren't even there and the staff will allow it because... I had a very off putting experience here while on a family trip on july 17th. They were mildly busy and a gentleman in front of me ordered his drinks. The barista wasn't very nice to him from the start. She made his drink wrong and came back into line while I was ordering and the barista yelled at him and said what do you want I have a long line hurry up. And after she remade his drink she was talking down to him. Repeating herself saying his drink multiple times as if he ordered the wrong drink at first. And with my order I asked for less ice in my cold brew and she said we don't really do that here half ice half coffee so I'll make it the normal way. read more

The staff here is always so friendly! They always have a smile no matter the time or weather! Can't be easy serving from that location. When you are waiting for the ferry this is a great option. The pastry selection is surprisingly great. They have a varied selection of gluten free and regular goodies, and good coffee. Commuter Comforts is made for speed, not quality. The coffee is horrible, and they only know how to pour bitter shots into 20oz cups of warm milk. Their food selection is not real food. Its all pre made "food-like", stale food. Worst of all, the service, after many years of friendliness has gone down hill. On Wednesday, February 5th during the morning of the Seahawks parade, the staff was overwhelmed and started lashing out at customers.
