Best coffee out there. I like that it's fair trade, no carbon foot print, etc - but at the end of the day the coffee has to hold up. I can't say enough about it. For my birthday last year someone gave me a coffee of the month club, and I think that was probably one of the best gifts I've ever received. Personally I like my coffee smoother than the starbucks stuff, which I find tastes a little harsh. I guess it depends on how you brew - but all of the coffees I've received the grounds for change have been excellent. And everyone else I know who has tried it seems to agree. I even buy the back-up 5 pound bag just to ensure I don't run out between monthly shipments. If you are a coffee fan, give it a try. read more

I cannot say enough about how much I love their coffee. Aside from being Fair Trade and Organic - which I appreciate and support - the coffee is simply excellent. I love coffee and probably drink way too much (8-10 cups (8oz) a day!) because I love it so. I buy in bulk and I have never been disappointed. I do occasionally get a cup from Starbucks, however, it just doesn't compare. The variety of coffees can vary by season and availability and the year-round "standbys" are always freshly roasted and shipped quickly. Do yourself a favor and try their coffee for a week and you will notice a difference. This is by far the best coffee I have ever had, except for the coffee I drank in Peru, but this is very close. I bought it because I sponsor a boy in Peru, and I have become more concerned about using my money to help others, so with Grounds for Change, I get something I would buy anyway, but I can help people less fortunate. This coffee is awesome. I am a cafe Vita barista, and as snobby as a coffee lover who specializes in foam art SHOULD be. At home, I require high standards in my coffee...not just for flavor, but for the social and environmental impact of the crop. I've tried all the brands/blends that are shade grown/organic/fair trade at PCC, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Greenwood(Etc.) Markets, and Grounds for change wins. Wins for flavors, for options, for impact. They have a great deal where you can get a 6 sampler, and choose the blends you want to try. I've just ordered this for the second time. It's awesome comparing the origins and the blends! Good price, too. Yes, it's more expensive than regular grocery store coffee, but what is the point of donating to charities if we don't follow through with the purchases that truly make the difference. Here are the six I've enjoyed so far, and my rating (1-10) next to them. Ten is tops, below 5 I won't order again. Agate Pass Blend (10!!)-- very similar to the quality and texture of Vita's blends Seattle Audubon Blend (9) Humane Society- Wildlife Land Trust (9) Nordic Blend (8)-- very similar to Central market's quality French Roast (6, but if you add Theo's nibbs into your brew, it's a 10) Obsidian Espress (5) too burnt to enjoy I hope this helps convince you to support many great groups!! Sorry for sounding non-pc, but I usually avoid Fair Trade coffee because of all the bad FT coffee I've bought in the past. And from what I've been told, farmers are usually paid higher than FT prices for high-quality beans. But I decided to try Grounds For Change Agate Pass Blend on a whim and a pleasant surprise it was. The best coffee I've ever had. I'm hooked. Package arrives from Poulsbo to Seattle within a week and it's always freshly roasted. While I fully support the dedication of this roaster to source only certified Fair Trade Organic beans, ultimately it is what's in the cup that will make me a loyal customer and in that regard, Grounds for Change has been terrific. I am partial to the light and medium roasts from Central America and will also order the limited release specials (presently a coffee from Bolivia). Our favorite coffee at home is the Guatemala "Quetzal" - notes of butter, vanilla, apricot, nougat. It's been one month now and our customers stop to tell us that the roasts we chose (french roast, first light decaf, and classic espresso) are excellent - rich, smooth, non-bitter taste - and they appreciate that it's fair-trade, organic, and shade-grown. I've also tried every one of their organic teas at home and they are so good that we offer their whole line at our creperie. I've compared their black chai tea to several other bagged teas and I find it's the best tasting - I'm drinking it right now with whole milk and it's just like a chai latte. I have been buying coffee and tea here for 4 years now. I gave them a try because of their focus on Fair Trade, Organic, Shade Grown and sustainability. But in the end the coffee still has to be quality and the business well run. I have never had a bad batch of coffee or an order that didn't arrive a bit sooner than expected. I am a decaf person and love the Midnight Blend. The first Water Process decaf that really holds up on the flavor end. The teas have been a pleasant surprise as well.
