We come here every couple of months or so. Service is consistently good as is the food. We like pretty much everything on the menu, with the only exception being the calamari which is way to chewy. On our last visit we noticed that some of our usual favorites had a little more kick to them (which we liked) and our server told us that there is a new Peruvian chef in the kitchen. Great place to bring a group. read more

We had dinner here last weekend, and it was terrific! Pretty decor, great food, and great service! We definitely recommend it for a fun date night place, and will certainly come back again. read more

Isabella's is a bit pricey, but the food is unique, tasty and served with style. I've never been disappointed on a trip to Isabella's. If you haven't been to a tapas bar, read about them before you go to Isabella's. You go there not to order a single dish, but many smaller dishes. Very nice atmosphere and one of the many great reasons to take a stroll through downtown Frederick. read more

Wonderful place to celebrate a birthday! Waiter was very helpful in making selections, sat near window, and food was delicious. Would definitely eat there again. read more

The asparagus fries here are delicious. The rest of the food is ok- a good spot for a happy hour drink and apps. The tapas dishes are a nice way to enjoy friends and company- the quality for the price is just alright. It does have a great location downtown and its nice you can sit outside if it is nice out. It is one of the few downtown restaurants that has outdoor seating. At night some nights it turns into a weird nightclub that doesn't seem consistent with the restaurant- so don't try to go for a late dinner! read more

This is a go to place for my husband and I to grab a drink and dinner. We usually sit at the bar but we often take non-Frederick folks here for a good meal because the food is always fantastic. Tapas style eating is a great way to share a meal together and taste a variety of flavors. If you go with a group I would ask how many can share a dish because some of them aren't easily shared by more than 2 people. I can't think of a dish that I don't like and I've had almost everything on the menu! Definitely ask for the bread because you don't want to waste any of the delicious sauces! read more

Love this restaurant. The food is yummy. The fried asparagus is my absolute favorite. Not a place my husband likes to go but I love it

Awesome food and atmosphere. I have always had very good service and knowledgeable servers. Their sangria and paella are killer! Highly recommend this adorable restaurant. read more

My wife and I love this place. They always have good and different food to try and good drinks. This is always a must stop when we are downtow. read more

On paper, all of their menu items sound delicious, but after eating many of their choices I have been sadly disappointed each time. It's just simply not a good place to eat, especially considering how many delicious restaurants are in Frederick. Underwhelming and unimpressive. Don't waste your time (or money). read more

Great tapas and drinks menu! Our server, Cat was wonderful! She was Informative, friendly and attentive. We will be returning for more tapas soon! read more

A disappointment. We expected better after reading the reviews. The Wed. special Paella was advertised as having a 1/2 lb of shrimp. We counted 4 , size medium at best. and the taste was unexceptional, no wonder the server gave us hot sauce. we will pass this place over the next time we're in town. read more

Came in for Father's Day Brunch. Busy, but not super crowded. The prices were really reasonable and then I realized why. Small portions is an understatement. They offered a variety of strictly comfort food. Heavy and greasy. Service was extremely slow and had to constantly ask for refills on coffee and for basic table items like sugar packets and jelly. I get the feeling they are more about the breakfast cocktails and less about the food. read more

Good service and good food. I have never ordered anything that was not good. I have tried a number of the different tapas and was always pleased. read more

This restaurant has nothing typical of Spanish cuisine, I lived in Spain for twelve years and this is a fraud, They couldn't even prepare a typical Spanish omelet. Food is Puerto Rican with a Mexican influence and not good. Very pricey and not recommended. After two visits I will not be going back. Owners and chefs are constantly changing. read more

I love this place, both my girlfriend and I have been there several times and it keeps getting better and better. Please bring back the Octopus Tapas read more

DO NOT EVER PLAN AN EVENT HERE. My fiance and I were so excited to plan our rehearsal dinner here for our wedding. We met with the manager, paid our $100 deposit, and got most things set up. There were still some changes we wanted to make and I still needed a few things confirmed. I contacted the manager, Roberto (our POC for the event, who assured me that the event planning was what he handled because I was originally talking to a different person and Roberto took over my event). I sent him countless emails and would receive no response. I would send him numerous emails over weeks and still receive no response. When he would finally respond, it made absolutely no sense and had NOTHING to do with any of my questions. When I finally called the restaurant to cancel my rehearsal dinner, guess who answered the phone? None other than Roberto himself. I told him I would like to cancel my rehearsal and gave him the date and his response was "ok, its canceled" so I asked, "ok, is that it?" and he responded with "well, I guess I need to know why", so I told him everything I was displeased with and how there were so many loose ends to my contract, how he never communicated with me, and how everything was just beyond difficult with him. His only response to me was "ok.". He didn't even show an ounce of remorse for his lack of customer service or care in the slightest. I will never go back to this restaurant for as long as I live. I am so angry about how I was treated and I plan on trying to get my deposit back. read more

The food was attractive, and my party was pleased with the quality. A very large selection of tapas made it easy for a vegetarian to find good choices. Early on a Sunday afternoon the service was quite good. I hope to return. read more

Great and consistent food. Authentic and unique. Once I went with 15 people, the waitress was not very friendly and not patient even we paid her 18% tip. read more

The foods were very good, hot and delivered quickly. We ordered Fried Asparagus, Bacon Wrapped Dates, Ceviche, Cilantros Shrimp on Black Rice, and Apricot brie. Everything is AWESOME! We can't wait to return. read more

Love love love this restaurant. Their food was great! The waiter that we had was amazing! I think this name was bobby.... Thank you! I enjoyed all parts of the experience and it has become my favorite place to go in downtown Frederick. By the way, their asparagus fries are the best! read more

Disappointed is putting it mildly! Had read good reviews and was looking forward to a drink with a few appetizers in the true Spanish style. Our server could not seem to get even the smallest task right---- like a glass for my beer. My husband got his drink and I got only my bottle. After finally flagging down the server who stayed inside most of the time, we asked but did not receive. We caught the eye of the hostess who was out clearing tables. She never came back but after my husband's drink was finished the server finally came out and put a glass at the table and left without a word. The appetizers were sooo tiny and since only one arrived at a time we shared The presentation was nice as were the two very tiny slivers of cheese. My husband's plate came out 30 minutes later. Really? This seemed like a new restaurant with untrained staff all around. Zagat said otherwise. They had better check this place out again. .A tourist rip-off. Too bad . Real Spanish tapas sounds like a great idea--- if done well. Would never go back. read more

As soon as the bread arrived, stale and just in general terrible, I had a bad feeling about Isabella's. Because I had a coupon for half off an entree with the purchase of another entree, I got a chicken dish and another person got steak, while the third member stuck to tapas, clearly the better choice. Unfortunately, my chicken was undercooked and the steak that came was overcooked and covered in a glutenous sauce that was not mentioned on the menu. These items were sent back and the manager apologized and brought us out some fried tapas dishes we hadn't ordered. Once my chicken arrived, it was fine but the side was rather flavorless. The steak, now sans sauce, was almost disgustingly salty and filled with grissel. Once the check came, we realized we had been charged for a tapa dish that was ordered but never delivered. When we inquired about it, the manager acted as though we had simply forgotten we'd received it before finally removing it from the bill. I have to say, their brussel sprouts and steak skewers, along with their fried oysters (if you like fried oysters), were really GREAT but they were the only thing that deserve that title. Everything else was terrible. read more

Really? Someone gave it 5 stars? Do you travel people? Has anyone been to Spain? Had tapas at the local bars in Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Granada, etc.. and compared to this? Sorry but this is not tapas, this is quasi-tapas-like restaurant . Their Jamon Serrano is blah. I felt like it was pre-sliced and defrosted. The fried asparagus are good, but never seen that in Spain. The paella is good but like it better at Cacique's next door (personal taste). The wait staff is a mixed experience. The girls working there are very nice. This dude with a foreign accent could have cared less if I had dropped dead on the table. On the other hand my wife loooves this joint and it is her favorite to hangout with her girlfriend. As a seasoned traveler I give it a very generous two stars. It's funny that it is packed for happy hour. So the bar must be really good or they have cute lady bartenders. Honestly go check it out and make your own opinion. read more

So my boyfriend and I went there for our anniversary a couple of weeks ago. We got there around 5:30 on Saturday night. We sat at the bar where there were 3 bartenders that all doted over us. We started with a creamy crab bisque that was amazing. We then had one of the nights specials of rockfish with a saffron sauce on top. The fish was perfectly cooked and the sauce was out of this world. The bartenders were fabulous, offering us samples of sangria before we bought a pitcher. They also made great recommendations. We had fried calamari and none of the bartenders were excited when we ordered it. It was by far the least appetizing thing we recieved. It was very average, with a thick battered crust and far to little aioli to go with it. We then relaxed for a while and had a couple of drinks. I ordered a creme brulee martini from the newest of the bartenders. I didn't care for it and after a different bartender tasted it she replaced it quickly with a better version. By then the place was packed with diners and people waiting for tables. Never did we feel pressured to wrap it up, we even went so far as to order a different round of drinks suggested by the head bartender. We then had peruvian chicken skewers which were a special of the night and fantastic. We followed that up with a pork dish on grilled flat bread also very good. Our last dish of the evening was seared bay scallops with tomato foam. The foam was much more like ketchup than anything else but my boyfriend's favorite dish of the night. We loved the attention from the bartenders and the atmosphere was great. We even spoke with the very humble owner. Overall I would definitely recommend this place, and return gladly. read more

Disappointed! Been long-time Isabella's fans until our 10/23/14 lunch visit. :-( A favorite is always the asparagus "fries"; however, on this visit, what we experienced was super oily/greasy as can occur when frying initiated before the cooking oil is hot enough. The dish also arrived at our table at no more than room temperature. Proteins in other tapas were scarce; e.g., filling in the little empanada-like dish described to include chicken that we never detected, yucca fritter-like dish described to include crab -- again, we never tasted/found it. Cheese (couldn't distinguish type) was the dominant (only?) ingredient in both. The chorizo dish arrived in a LARGE puddle of grease and we even commented to our server (Ric) about it., with no response. We really enjoy tapas. However, in the future when in Frederick, our visits will be only to AYSE. Sad to say goodbye to Isabella's. read more
