Cubano

I have been craving Cuban food for a while. Who knew that in quaint downtown Frederick there was a authentic Cuban restaurant?? I come to Frederick fairly regularly as a bottle club member at Tenth Ward and Sabor De Cuba is right down the street! I was looking for a lunch option nearby and found this place. My favorite dish is masitas de puerco. The tender, marinated fried pork and onions do something to my soul! They do have it on the menu but I opted for something lighter in the middle of my long day. I ordered the papa rellena appetizer and a Cuban sandwich. The papa was pricey. At my favorite cafecito in my hometown in California, I can get 3 for the price I paid here but it was absolutely delicious. Not for nothing the sauce they served it with was good too and I'm not a condiment kinda girl. The Cuban was perfect too. Authentic bread, tasty innards, and a good portion. Service was fast and friendly. I'll definitely be returning!

Just passing thru town and I noticed a Cuban restaurant. I took a peek inside, seems like a nice cozy spot so I came the next day for dinner. The restaurant is empty and we have the place to ourselves. The menu has lots of great Cuban staples. I started with the Bistec De Palomilla (Cuban Grilled Steak) and ordered a glass of wine to get the dinner party started. My meal came out pretty quickly. What was a little disappointing was there was more vegetables than meat. It was just an average meal, nothing too exciting. I'm ready to pack it in but waitress mentioned they have a homemade Tres Leche dessert that I must try. I ordered the dessert. Again, just average in my personal opinion. If you like this spot then add a star, I'm just passing through.

Nicely decorated restaurant, I had the ham croquettes, which were good, cuban sandwich was good. We tried the Yuca fried and boiled. Both were good. The veggie bowl was gigantic. Nice cute little place, friendly staff & quick service. Recommend if you are in the area

Started with the Sizzling Shrimp App. 5 large shrimp in a garlic sauce with tomatoes. Very good. My wife got the chimichurri steak special. I snuck in a few tries, it was great. I ordered the Pernil, pork cooked in citrus and garlic. They served it crispy with onions, side of rice & beans. The pork was dry but tasty. Top: order a side mojo - garlic, lemon and olive oil. Made everything taste better. Service was a little slow. Everything came out one at a time.

Dined here with friends for lunch on a Saturday. Service was friendly but water refills were a bit on the slow side. The food came out in a timely manner and everything was hot and delicious. I'd gladly return!

We arrived at Sabor de Cuba with a large group and a dog but they were able to accommodate us for outside seating. We were also happy to see that they were able to meet vegetarian and vegan options for friends we were dining with. I tried the camarones enchiladas with fried plantains, rice and beans. My husband tried the cubano sandwich and my son had the picadillo meal with, rice and yuca. Overall I think we all enjoyed our meals, which showcased a different flavor profile in each. Mine was shrimp in tomato sauce with peppers and onions which I enjoyed dipping the plantains into. My son raved about the flavor in the picadillo and the garlic mojo over the yuca.

This place is a downtown Frederick treasure! The atmosphere is inviting and the customer service is always great! Servers come around constantly to check in and offer refills. The food here is always amazing!! You have to start with the sizzling shrimp - if anything, ask for more bread! It is such a mouth-watering dish to look at and even better to eat!! I ordered the Bistec de Palomilla which was very tasty and filling. My friend ordered the Ropa Vieja which she also enjoyed. The serving sizes are great - I had enough for the next day. Oooh...I didn't take a photo but their mojitos are even great and well priced! LOVE THIS PLACE!!

Walking in, the vibrant walls and the lively energy of both staff and people inside made me feel as if I were back at the beach . It was surprising to find this vibrant spot open at 10:30 AM, ensuring my meal would be fresh and flavorful. I chose their pork with rice & beans, and sweet plantains. I couldn't be more thrilled. The juicy pork, drizzled over the rice, was perfectly cooked--not too oily or runny--and settled comfortably in my stomach, which, as a truck driver, I greatly appreciate this, while being a driver you find out later while going down the road if the food was real good or not! If you catch my drift I was also delighted to see that they offer fun games for kids, making it a family-friendly spot. And if you have a sweet tooth, stay tuned--you'll be pleasantly surprised by their desserts including flan or caramel custard, it's popular in French, Spanish, and Latin American cuisines. I didn't get a chance to taste the pastries however they looked very delicious. So next time I do visit the Lancaster area I'll make sure that I stop here first for a pastry

This place never disappoints…read more I've been here multiple times -- with family, on dates, and with friends -- and it's always a great experience. This most recent visit was with a friend who was trying it for the first time, and he loved it. The food was delicious as always. He had the arroz con pollo (which I recommended), and I had the camarones al ajillo -- shrimp in garlic sauce with rice, salad, and plantains. Everything was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The bartenders were so pleasant and attentive. We sat at the bar, and even though it was crowded (which it usually is -- a good sign!), the service was still great. Now let's talk about the drinks because they were the real stars:    *   My friend had three mango margaritas and couldn't stop talking about how good they were.    *   I tried the cucumber jalapeño margarita -- you could literally smell the fresh cucumber as they made it. It did not hold back on the jalapeño! It had a real kick, but the flavor was amazing.    *   And the mojitos? Delicious. They use real sugarcane, and you can taste the freshness. Great vibes, great service, consistently amazing food and drinks. I will absolutely keep coming back and always recommend this place.

We had reservations (highly recommend) for 730pm to celebrate my birthday and we couldn't have picked a better place! We ate laughed talked until closing time. We were the last to leave but they didn't rush us or standing nearby like we were an issue or anything. Made me feel good, respected and appreciated.

Friday night in Harrisburg, and Los Tres Cubanos was already buzzing by 5 p.m. (pro tip: they open…read moreat 4 -- make a reservation if you want inside seating). We rolled in without one but happily claimed a little café table outside. The weather was warm, the cocktails were cold, and our waitress checked in often enough that our glasses never sat empty for long. We kicked things off with the beef empanadas ($9 for two big ones) and -- oh my goodness -- these were dream-level empanadas. Golden-brown, fried crisp on the outside yet soft and tender inside, stuffed with simply seasoned, flavorful ground beef. The tangy-sweet red sauce they came with was the perfect co-star. I'd come back for these alone. Cocktails ran about $12 each. I had the Havana Special (fresh pineapple juice, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, and Cruzan Rum) -- tropical, bright, and just sweet enough. My adventure buddy ordered the Canchanchara (honey, lime, rum, and chilled water -- said to be Cuba's oldest cocktail), which was refreshing and citrusy, perfect for a summer night. For dinner, I went for the Camarones Enchilados ($27) -- Cuban-style shrimp in Creole sauce with white rice and sweet fried plantains. Generous serving of perfectly cooked shrimp in a savory tomato-based sauce with diced peppers, onion, and garlic... I brought half home, but not before finishing every last plantain. The sauce was light but packed with flavor, and the rice soaked it up like a champ. Adventure buddy ordered the Cuban Fried Rice ($25) -- shrimp, ham, chicken, and sweet plantain all fried together, topped with an egg. The rice had that crispy-but-soft magic, the proteins were tender and flavorful, and while he wished the egg had been runny, it was still well-executed. Another giant portion, another take-home box. Our bill for two was about $100, and every dollar felt well spent. Los Tres Cubanos is tucked just outside the hustle of downtown, which makes it easy to miss -- but don't. Between the authentic flavors, generous portions, and charming atmosphere, it's worth seeking out. And bonus: you can stroll the nearby Susquehanna River Walk afterward to justify ordering that second empanada next time.

The food was pretty good…read more For an appetizer, we had Croquetas. No lime wedges as described. The filling was interesting, and the sauce was a sweet salsa. These were good but not great. My Cuban sandwich (La Cubanita) was terrific (best item we had). My son's Pan Con Lechon (pork sandwich) was dry. It was missing the sauce described on the menu. My daughter liked the Camarones Enchilados (shrimp entre), and my spouse liked her Lechon Asado (pork entre). For dessert, we had coconut cheesecake (my son loved it), chocolate cake (which was just okay), and empanadas with cheese and guava filling, which were really good. My issue, more than the food, was the service. We made a reservation for 7, and it took about 10 minutes to get seated, which would be okay, but the waitress/hostess was needlessly busy with one of two tables in the restaurant (she took care of multiple issues with them when seating us would have taken only a moment). She also seated us in a somewhat cramped space when a larger one was available (my children are adults, and my son is tall). I got the feeling we were inconveniencing her. I also tried to engage in small talk with the bartender. He was rude, which I initially thought might be due to a language issue. Later, he yelled at customers who came in after 9, so I began to feel that he might actually be rude. The entrees took a long time, 80 minutes from when we were seated. We ordered them at the same time as the appetizer, which came out quickly. Additionally, desserts took a considerable amount of time. The waitress explained that the chef had burnt the first batch of empanadas and was making them again. I would have liked the option not to have them, as it was after 9 pm at that point. We were there for 2.5 hours along with several other tables (perhaps 8 in total). This was likely due in part to there being only one waitress and the bartender/owner, who seemingly did nothing but make two or three drinks the whole night (in addition to yelling at potential future customers). It was also quite expensive given the experience we had. I would have had more fun at Tres Hermanos on Cameron at a third of the cost and without the yelling. I will not be back, although I may order a sandwich in the future and eat it by the river.
