Sad looking Bandeja paisa con carne asada
    Kelvin C.

This place is a joke lol. $60 for 2 Bandeja Paisa and look at this portion size. When I saw the sausage and pork belly i had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming because what is this. It's so small. Attached are 2 pictures, the small looking one is for this restaurant. The other one that looks packed is another restaurant in College Park. Both the same price.... Portion difference is insane and flavoring wise this place is mediocre at best. Should've drove further to College Park. Sad

    Chicharon con Arepa

Great place for Arepas in downtown silver spring! Even though the arepas were flavorful and filling, the real standout was the Chicharrón con Arepa. The side was so so delicious and one I feel like I do not find at most restaurants! The service was very quick given the casual nature of the restaurant. Would be a good place to grab a quick bite with someone else since the restaurant is fairly small as well!

food was delicious and authetic! service was good and i like sitting by the window watching the cars and people go by.

After a movie at AFI we came to this restaurant, after eating here several years ago, and we again enjoyed the food. I ordered Yuca Frita as a starter and it was very good. For the main dish, I ordered the Arepa Basket that included 4 mini arepas, each with a separate filling. It was excellent. My wife ordered a large soup called Ajiaco, which she said was the best soup she has ever eaten. Service is efficient. The place looks simple and is based on self service- you order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. But the food speaks for itself.

Receipt - The receipt is from Arepas Pues, located at 8555 B Fenton St, Silver Spring, MD. It shows an order for two arepas with savory fillings, priced at $20.80, and a sparkling water costing $2.07, with a subtotal of $22.87. The receipt includes transaction details, date, time, cashier's name, and tax information, indicating a dine-in or takeout purchase at this Colombian and Venezuelan restaurant.

Food is good. I've come this place many times and recommend it to friends. $10 for a black bean and cheese arepa is too much. I don't think I will be coming back any more.

Food is very good a flavorful! I love their platters. Service is good, and the general ambiance/vibe is nice because of the music.

It might take a little while to get your order but it's worth it. I got two arepas and they were delicious! The corn cakes were perfectly crisp on the outside and the filling was plentiful and tasty.

I ordered the ajiaco soup for pick up. The soup was filling and definitely hit the spot. I do have a recommendation which is I would have loved limes and hot sauce packets when I picked up the soup. Not sure if it's provided when when dining in but that is a recommendation, not a knock on the restaurant. I can't wait to try other dishes from the restaurant.

I saw this place across the street and had to stop by! If you never had an arepa.. you are missing out ;) There is ample seating and the music was a vibe. The staff helped me decide what I wanted. They were super helpful and nice. The food was prepared quickly. As someone from South America, I can say that the flavors were authentic. I had the arepa del dia with a malta. Basically what I used to have for breakfast growing up. It tasted just like it. I'm not sure about the parking situation but they are quite accessible by public transport. Make sure to give them a try.

Amazing chicken empanadas! - Three golden-brown fried empanadas are arranged in a red plastic basket lined with paper, placed on a wooden table. Two small clear plastic containers of sauce are positioned nearby, likely for dipping. The empanadas have a crispy exterior and are typical of Colombian or Venezuelan cuisine, served as a snack or meal component.

Okay service, delicious chicken empanadas! Though the cashier wasn't very friendly, the chicken empanadas were so good! Though I didn't like the sauce that came with it, I found myself devouring 2.5 of the 4 empanadas I ordered. My husband polished off the rest when I got home. I would order from them a lot if I lived in the area!

    4 banger of nummies.

The arepas are so good and the trouble I came across was not knowing which one I wanted. Good thing the have a 4 some of mini arepas to try and all 3 are winners.

I do think that a mix of the steak and other dishes is a good balance but it would've been great to have more greens as an option. But then again, this isn't something that is unique to this restaurant alone or the type of cuisine. I would love to watch a great soccer game or other sports event here to root on a local team. It is the perfect combination of solid food, genuine vibes, and great service.

I looked at their menu, then set out to learn about their various entrees. My husband agreed to give it a try. Before going, we settled on trying "Pabellon Criollo" which is considered the Venezuelan national dish. We were here on a Saturday around 5 p.m. and were surprised to see a few large parties dining in. Also, people came in to get their takeout orders. Not sure as to how the ordering worked when dining in, we made our way to their counter. The owner, Carlos, spotted us and got 2 menus. We confirmed that we wanted to dine in. Carlos is very friendly and welcomes customers with a smile. He also was our server. To drink, I had a lemonade while my husband had a can of Coke. We let Carlos know that we were both having the Pabellon Criollo. This dish consists of black beans with a bit of shredded cheese on top, white rice, carne mechado (which was shredded), 2 arepitas (small arepas) and some platanos maduros. When the food came, it was obvious that the platanos were freshly made. Carlos also brought a bottle of brazza sauce (also called "salsa de amor). He told us we could put it on any item we wanted. It's a mild sauce which is mayonnaise based with cilantro. We enjoyed this dish. Everything was mildly seasoned yet still well flavored. Nothing went to waste! When it was time to pay the check, Carlos rang us up. We both say we would like to return and try their steaks. From start to finish, we had a great experience.

Freshly prepared food that the lady serving apologized for taking up to twenty minutes to make. Better fresh than buying off the shelf! Delicious! I got the cheese Arepo, and the tropical. For the same price as a subway, you got a whole lot more flavor and texture. The wife got the chicken and cheese, she declared then worthy of being on our rotation of places we go to.

Today I had the Domino (seasoned black beans and feta cheese) and I ate every last morsel. Previously, on the advice of the super friendly man at the counter ( the owner?) I got the King and demolished it too. The King has plaintains, which I've never been a fan of, but wow, the way they prepare plantains makes them beyond delicious. Did I mention that all of the arepas are GF? So thrilling to go into a place and be able to enjoy much of the menu! (If you're celiac or have an intolerance to gluten, you'll know what I'm talking about. Pro tip: Get at least one extra sauce for your arepa. The Domino comes with one container of their avocado sauce, and remembering how I scraped out every morsel the last time, I ordered two. Two sauces got me through the arepa, but honestly, I could've enjoyed a third.
