Steak and Cheese Sandwich
Sabrina P.

The food was delivered pretty fast on Uber eats. The steak in the sandwich was well seasoned and flavorful. The arepa was also filling but a bit greasy.

The food was generally pretty decent. The empanadas were excellent and very comparable to what you will find in queens, NY. You can tell that everything else was sitting out for a while and flavors were fairly muted. If it were fresh and properly seasoned, it would've been great. The lulada and maracuya drinks were great. Again, just order the empanadas and drinks, forget the rest or go there whenever the food is fresh.

everything is OLD and vile. Moldy beef too.

Horrifyingly bad. I've had real colombian food and was so disgusted by this utter mess. I see that they correct a critical health violation on the Montgomery county health department's dataset, but it appears they're back to their old tricks. I try to frequent local businesses but am reminded why boring big corporate fast food is comforting. I don't have to worry that there will be stringy hard piece of MOLDY beef in my sandwich or ROCK HARD desserts. They should be deeply ashamed of how disgusting their restaurant is.

I really wanted to love this place as I just moved to Silver Spring and an easy convenient place to get Colombian food sounded like a WIN. But the food is just ok. Especially anything sitting behind the counter like the empanadas, buñuelos, pan de bono, they are re-heated, chewy and stale. The great items I've had are the soups. Also ordered the arepa de chocolo and was served an arepa with a piece of cold cheese on top, not at all what I'm used to. I just moved to the DMV and met a local who said it used to be a great place but in the last few years the quality went down. I also ordered a chocolate caliente con queso (hot chocolate with cheese) and after drinking a bit I realized they forgot the cheese, no biggie I figured I'd tell them and get a new one. Nope! After telling the young lady she handed me foil wrapped cheese and handed it to me LOL. Overall this place has major potential and could do much better.

Chicken arepa, Patacones, Tequenos

Needed some tequeños to get me through a rough day and am glad to have found this place. Friendly and fast service at reasonable prices, and the food was delicious. Also tried the patacones and a chicken arepa, those and the accompanying sauces all great. Arepa nicely crisped and to-go wrapping kept it hot until I was home and settled. There is a market with a selection of groceries (dry goods, refrigerated, and frozen) and beer. Looking forward to returning!

This place should have a better rating! The bandeja paesa feeds your soul. The chicharrones were ON POINT!! I'm not even Colombian but it feeds my soul too!!!! The portion is HUGE and can feed two people. My boyfriend who is Colombian approves this message.

I don't get it...? I'm reading a lot of reviews on here that seem to contradict my experience. I've been to La Fonda Paisa a couple of times and I had very pleasant experiences. On my most recent visit, I came hungry, with a big appetite and prepared to eat. Perhaps what helped my particular experience was the fact that my friend is Colombian, so I had some guidance on what to order. Here's a list of what I had on my most recent visit: buñuelos arepa con queso empanadas - golden, crisp, and delicious! ajiaco - simply delicious! I can't begin to describe how euphoric this dish was and the immense amount of flavor with every bite! jugo lulo - this juice is everything that you need to dampen and sweeten your palate. Once you taste it, you won't be able to put your cup down. It's that good! In addition to the food, you can also shop for any groceries that you might need, whether it's coffee or arequipe or a specialty item, you can find it here.

Delivery was extremely slow - rude manager says it's "not our problem" if food sits out for 30 min awaiting Uber driver.

I can do without the carne molida, I prefer carne asada but it still does the trick.

The service was excellent and accommodating. I was impressed because I know large groups can be difficult to wait on, so was very pleased with the service and how quick they were to get our orders in and us served. We ordered a variety of appetizers, such as the the empanadas, calamari, and garlic shrimp. My favorite items were the empanadas and calamari, which were extra tasty with the accompanying sauces. We also ordered a variety of grilled meats, including the two large Parrillada meat platters and picanha . The accompanying sides we tried were the fries, cheese rice, fried yucca, and plantains. I really liked the plantains, but the cheese rice was not was I expected. It was more like grits than cheesy rice. The meats were cooked to how we requested it, and of course tastes especially good with the sauces. My favorite cuts were the strip steak, beef rib, and picanha. I didn't really care for the sweet breads, but that is a personal preference. Value wise, the Parrillada platters could easily feed 4 - 5 people, so we had plenty of leftovers. I would definitely recommend checking out La Estancia if you enjoy grilled meats!

They were not very busy when we arrived but remained attentive during our entire visit. The food was fresh, well-seasoned, and delicious. We got a parrillada mixta, which means mixed grilled meats. It was superb! My husband had a cup of coffee, which was also good. Usually, restaurants go for generic coffee, and it's always overcooked. This was fresh and delicious. The restaurant is nicely decorated, music is playing, and there is a bar. It would be a great hang-out spot.

The beautiful artwork featuring local women of color from Colombia adds a great cultural touch, and there's plenty of parking. I ordered the Papas Rellenas (picadillo-stuffed potato fritters), which were really big, dense, and satisfying for $5. I also got the bandeja paisa (with kidney beans, steak, fried egg, pork belly, etc.), knowing it would take about 20 minutes on a Monday at 10:45 a.m. That wait felt outrageous, though--only about 10 people were in a space that could easily hold 100. However, the pork belly and steak wasn't overcooked and very flavorful. Even the sausage bursted with flavor. The food was authentic and tasty, but the long wait is a dealbreaker for me unless I'm with a friend craving Latin food and have time to spare. I probably won't return on my own unless it's a weekend and I have time to kill.

I placed an online order for pickup, was charged in full, and was never notified of any issue. I drove almost an hour to pick up the order, only to be told upon arrival that my order was not ready and would not be fulfilled at all. This order was for an event I was attending, so I was left scrambling at the last minute while staff showed no acknowledgment or accountability for their mistake. I was never contacted, never proactively refunded, and had extreme difficulty reaching anyone. Phone calls went unanswered repeatedly. As a last resort, I commented on one of their Instagram posts and my comment was deleted. I posted again and still received no response. It wasn't until over a month later that someone finally shared an alternate phone number for a staff member. When the refund was finally processed, it was only partial about 65% of the total charge. I am still having to follow up to recover the remaining balance. To make matters worse, I was blocked from their Instagram page. At this point, this is no longer about the money. It's about the complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic customer service. I am a reasonable person and understand that the food industry is complex but businesses do not have the right to charge customers, fail to deliver, avoid communication, and then silence them. This experience was not only disappointing, it was disrespectful. Unfortunately, this is one of the only places offering Colombian food in the area, which leaves customers with little choice. A quick look at reviews across platforms shows that customer service issues are a consistent pattern. I had previous less-than-great experiences ordering here, but this was the tipping point. This business seriously needs education and improvement in customer service. Customers deserve transparency, communication, and respect.
