That said, the green sauce was great! It was actually spicy. Every place doesn't have such nice spicy green sauce. Rice/beans were okay. Veggies were average. (Not fresh) Very clean inside. Fast friendly service. $15.50 pre-tax for a half chicken meal. I'm used to a half chicken meal being bigger. Have chickens gotten smaller? Didn't seem ovresized. Outstanding!!!! First time at this location...wow!!! So they have a new chicken bowl. Sweet and savory packed full of protein and veggies. I really can't say enough. Now looking at the receipt, He the cashier put as "custom item" at $6.90 when the large plantains is $6.50! He charged an extra 40cents plus there's a CC fee 28cents. I have used Crisp & Juicy for several years now to cater a school event that serves approximately 300 7th graders. Kevin has always been extremely helpful and accommodating, changing the food items and amounts based on student interest and accommodating some dietary restrictions. He is easy to contact and the service provided with the food delivery was fantastic! Very timely and helped move all the trays into our cafeteria and arranged them in warming boxes. It was all clearly labeled and easy to manage. The kids loved the meal, were able to enjoy seconds and I heard no complaints. Great food and a great restaurant! read more

Hubby had the Carnada asada platter and it was super disappointing for the price. The cut was a poor quality and it was tough. The Pollo Brasa was average at best. Our Total bill for lunch was just over 30.00 and it honestly wasn't worth more than 15.00 Super disappointed. read more

I am HIGHLY disappointed in this establishment. The service is not good and on top of that, they served me sweet potato with MOLD on it (see picture). I drove 10 minutes to get that and drove 10 minutes back only to find that my food contained mold. I DEFINITELY took the time to drive back to report this. Save your time and money and go elsewhere where the food is FRESH and the service is hospitable. When I asked for the manager, the cashier lied and said he wasn't there and I told her to get someone in charge. She rolled her eyes and shook her head and SURPRISE, the owner was there. I was really put off by the name of the restaurant as it does not sound appetizing but I'm glad we came in. It's located in a shopping plaza across from bone fish and it's pretty easy to find. They take your order at the counter when you come in and the menu has 1/4, half and full chicken in dark or white meat, lots of different sides and sandwiches. The chicken was good and tasted a bit different than other polla ala brasa that I've had but it was still juicy and good. The rice is cooked well, the fried plantains are tasty as is the fried yukka. They have mild and hot sauces but the hot one isn't very hot. The atmosphere is pretty average and feel's a bit cold. read more

I eat here a couple of times every now and then. The cooking and kitchen staff seem very angry, unfriendly, and militant. They give extremely small portions however charge a arm and a leg for food you can get somewhere else for 30% less. They are extremely stingy with the food portions. The food is good, but they want to make as much profit as they can at the customers expense. I tried to give this place another chance today. There portion sizes are very small and cheap. So, let's get to it: very good chicken, but not as moist and well-seasoned (that is, flavoriscious) as Sardis. BUT: pretty doggone close. As an admitted meat freak, it's hard to pass up a sausage. The Argentinian chorizo here was excellent - full of flavor, well seasoned (but with no real heat) and grilled mariposa (butterfly) style. Didn't try it with chimmichurr I, but will do so next time and update this review. Sides were good, although the plantains were really, really banana-sweet (they made for a great dessert, especially because they were crispy on the edges and oh-so-happily gooey in the middle. Rice was, well, rice - but the beans were really tasty. Bottom line for me: I really, really like Sardi's, but it's not as convenient to get to. When I have time, I will still run there - but I'll be happily heading to C&J for my routine pollo fix. read more

I like this place. Believe it or not, far better than Sardi's. Only because I remebr when that place first opened. Everything was great. Then they started to cut back and take shortcuts. Never been back in two years. Instead, I come here. It's quiet and quick. I like it! Service is alright. Sometimes it doesn't feel like you are welcomed. But I can't complain, after all it's not a full sit down restaurant. The deep fried stuff sometimes gets me. Like they haven't changed the oil in days. Also, they are soooo skimpy with the sauces. Goodness! By their reactions, you would think I'm asking these people for their first born. Anyway, I'm sure when they first opened it was a lot better. But for now I like the chicken much more here than Sardi's. I'd say give it a try. read more

The website says they close at 10pm. We arrived at 8:30pm and most of the chairs were on the tables. Only 2 tables did not have the chairs stacked on them. The cashier told us they were closing the dining area early. She was not happy when we ordered in and sat at the first table to eat. Shortly after we sat down they put the chairs up on the other table. We rushed eating and left at 9:15 pm. Ordering was so so, we could tell the cashier was not happy. Service however was fast! The server politely handed my husband our food. We could see them giving us angry glares and talking about us from the kitchen. The food - Chicken was awesome! I mean awesome! Sauce was yummy! I ate it on everything. Sides - we got beans & rice, primavera rice and mashed potatoes. Primavera rice and potatoes were good. Beans & rice were bland, no seasoning. I will not get again. Rated 2 stars because of crappy service. In today's world good service is hard to come by, but is so appreciated. Step up Crisp and Juicy! Very nicely priced tasty dinners- half chicken and chorizo - with suitably prepared sides- plantains, rice and beans, vegetable rice. Spicy sauces also can kick up the flavor a notch. Pleasant courteous professional staff in a clean well lighted place. I only can ask for more other Latin favorites like ceviche, oxtail, and dare I say chicharrones and morcilla? Ok so I wrote a review/complaint to this crisp and juicy restaurants facebook, and what do they do? Report my post as 'nudity' and delete my comment instead of fixing any problems! I love and support local businesses. So I don't know about this one. Let me first start off by saying how excited I was to try Crisp and Juicy. I've been driving by daily to see any 'now open' signs. Since my daily Peruvian chicken restaurant is a bit ways. I was happy to see that this one was a bit more closer than the other restaurant.. The restaurant it self is pretty nice. The music is a good upbeat. ANYWAYS.. On to explaining how their food quality is... Like I explained in my facebook post to them before they reported it as nudity and deleted it, their chicken was juicy yeah, but it was not any spark towards it. The fries are common to any fast food fries but a bit more on the dry side, and the rice is likely from a uncle bens rice box... The sauce they offer with the chicken is pretty much the only good thing that I enjoyed with my meal. I thought to leave it at that and just stick with my other Peruvian chicken restaurant up the street. But that's not all...My mother thought to try this place out and wanted company.. So I thought, eh.. Why not try them again and just maybe I'd like the food the second time. That was not the case. We arrived at exactly 7:40pm to see the chairs up on the table. I was a bit confused and told my mom that maybe they were cleaning because the hours on the door listed that they were open until 9pm. As we walked in, there were two employees standing in the front. Both stood there looking at us and told us we couldn't eat there because they were closing in a minute. We turned around and didn't see any closing early signs on the door. Didn't get any explanation. We felt really unwelcome and so we just left. My fact is that we made this trip for nothing yet to get pushed out of the restaurant. I wrote a comment to them on their Facebook thinking it was normal, but in their eyes, it was nudity! Not one apology, or a explanation. This place is so new, you can still smell the paint. Charbroiled chicken is the speciality but they also have sandwiches available. There are Coke products available, either fountain or can. Crisp & Juicy also offers aloe vera drinks, along with Inca Kola. Sides range from rice and beans to potato salad to fried yuca. The stand outs here are the sauces, with hot, mild (called medium on the menu) and chimichurri available. The sauce is good on everything. Think of it as a Latino yum yum sauce. I was in a bit of a hurry and did not really was a fast food burger. This little gem was right next door to where I was and I thought I would give it a try. I came in and was pleasantly great by the young woman at the register who took my order. I had the beans and rice, coleslaw and a chicken breast. I had my order in no time at all. I noticed that the kitchen, which you can see when you order and the seating area appeared very clean. I have to say, the food was great! We have gotten take out from here twice, and enjoyed it both times. The stand out by far is the chicken- definitely crisp, not dry (though I don't know that I'd say juicy exactly) and flavorful. The sauces are also awesome- the green sauce is hot, but tastes so fresh it hits you the minute you taste it- like a summer spicy salad. The other sauce is mayo based, with mild heat and great flavor. I like to think it's Peruvian ranch dressing :) However, I have to say that the sides are really not exciting- there's not one side I get excited to order. And I cannot recommend the fries at all- they were yucca fries so extra thick, and not fried hot enough or long enough. They were a soggy, undercooked mess. The white rice, beans and coleslaw are ok, but basically something you could get from a grocery store. Beans and rice were ok, they were actually better the next day- they had a nice saltiness to them... the coleslaw is standard American fare... I layered all three together, it wasn't bad. But really, it's not anything I have to have from here. I could made rice, beans and coleslaw exactly like this at home. The only thing that makes it unique is the sauces. The sauces are great. Did I mention that? This last time I tried the flan- it wasn't bad, but probably not something I'd order again. It was a generous portion, it wasn't overly sweet... but it was very delicate and bordering on tasteless... If I could do a perfect mash-up, I would get chicken from here, and sides from Golden Beak (on Rte 40). This comes in second on my list of top Peruvian chicken places in Frederick. read more

We used to order from here a least once a week. Not sure if they have new owners or they just got lazy. The chicken is very stringy and chewy. So its either all frozen chickens or they are just old. The plantains look like crap Literally!! not good at all. The yucca is undercooked and always cold. The primavera rice is so nasty, watery. I bet it comes in a big bag out of the freezer. I mean really, How long would it take to use fresh ingredients? foodies beware that this place is nasty!! Customer service is mostly good, so I will give you a 3 star for that. I am such a fan of this place. My good friend Sonia, from El Salvador introduced me to this place. Such good crispy chicken, well seasoned along with tons of other choices and sides that one could never get bored of. Peruvian chicken is my new food love. It's not breaded (I'm a GF freak now) and this is such a plus. most places want to bread EVERYTHING. I also love the sides - yucca, fried plantains, rice, beans, etc. and the crema - aji verde and aji rojo are to die for!!! The only reason I give this 4 instead of 5 is the rice and salad. Their "salad" consists of lettuce tomato and onion in a small side container. Some people think this is worthy of a salad but to me, that's hamburger topping, not salad. Give me some green onion or cucumber instead of onion and tomato. Rice is ok - yellow rice is bland, no flavor, I can't figure out why it's yellow (it's not saffron) but other than that I love this place!! Atmosphere is warm, welcoming. There is something about rotisserie chicken that brings me back to my childhood.This place is absolutely the best, not only was the chicken juicy but it tasted just like the way my tastes buds remembered it. I chose fries as my side and they were also delicious and not greasy at all, My friend ate the chorizo sandwich and believe me when I say he is the pickiest eater in the world, and he loved it. The place was spotless and everyone was really friendly and helpful, everyone greeted us with a smile. I have been back a couple of times and I've always been glad we stopped by. This was my second time at Crisp and Juicy.. The first time I came in about an hour before closing. The chicken was dry so dry I didn't even finish it. I thought because it was late that was an excuse.. I was wrong The second time I was in the same situation except I was in around 4:30. The chicken was dry the rice was not good at all it was dry as well and flavorless! What a waste of money. Nothing at this place has flavor. If you're looking for good Peruvian chicken the only place to go is Sardi's out on rt 40!!! Their chicken is 10 stars in my book!! read more
