In short, this store simply shows that only in America on a college campus can one get away with ridiculous prices on cookies, milk, and ice cream. The store is located within the Charles Commons building, which is owned by the Johns Hopkins University using it as student housing and hosting conferences. Perhaps this might be a welcoming addition to some, but the way I see it, it cheapens the very nice building. You often see employees sitting/slouching on the couches next to the store and talking/ behaving obnoxiously until 3am in the morning, which is when Insomnia closes. Are the cookies good? Meh, they are not terrible. Worth close to $2 apiece? No. An ice cream sandwich will cost you close to $8. Absurd - you are probably better off getting cookies from Subway across the street. Customer service is seriously lacking. I said hello and got ZERO response. 930 on a Saturday night and they were out of something. He said white chocolate peanut butter, except I ordered a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie and a peanut butter chip, so we'll see which one I didn't get. He also just shoved the eight cookies to me after dropping two of the packs of cookies on the floor. They have great flavors and they are well worth the wait. Why 3 stars? The cookies can be greasy (a side-effect of them being oh so delicious) and their delivery service is garbage. To this day, I don't understand how a delivery driver for a store literally right across the street from Johns Hopkins University does not know where the library is. I had to walk what would have been half way to the store to meet the driver. He was nice but clueless. Would I return? My niece has been talking about this cookie chain since she went away to college.. telling me how these are the best cookies shes ever had and how she couldn't wait for me to come out to visit her so that i could try them for myself. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that I didn't have to travel all the way to eastern Michigan to get a cookie! I opted to just try a few cookies and the person I was with went for an ice cream sandwich both good choice.. The only reason why I gave them a 3 is because I been here all week. Its not this location but the one at 10 e 33 street at JHU. I dont know why that address didnt come up. But one of the employees has been having personal issues. There has been times that I went over to purchase some cookies and she is in the back livid. Came here because my friends had a late night craving. They deliver to all the campuses in the area and the cookies are warm. They have different sizes deluxe and regular. I think it's cool that you can make an ice cream sandwich. The only thing is the ice cream is generic according to my friend and it seemed kind of pricey for a cookie. My friend got a brownie and it took longer than the others. I am surprised they don't have more flavors of the brownies. Freshly baked, warm and with the perfect texture. I've had the Charles St location cookies yesterday and today. We placed an order at 7:25 for desert for our family. Warm cookies and football sounded really nice! The website said it would take 25-30 minutes. At 8:30 (over an hour later) we got an email saying they had been delivered. I called and was on hold for 10 minutes. While on hold I started reading reviews and read so many awful reviews saying people had ordered cookies, got a message saying the cookies were delivered, they called and was told the driver was in the area and they either never got the cookies or got them hours later cold and hard. So when the person answered and told me, as predicted, the driver was in the area I told her to cancel the order and refund my credit card. It will take 3 to 5 business days to credit my $40. I will NEVER order from them again. I could have gone to the store, gotten the ingredients and baked home made cookies in that time for less money and less frustration. read more

This place is pretty good except they do run out of cookies fairly often in the night and you then have to wait if you want cookies. Not a huge deal but they should be prepared for a lot of people at night considering how long they've been open and their proximity to Hopkins. They should know that they will get a lot of people on weekends. read more
