Thank you Yelpers for keying me in to this place. I live nearby and had no idea they existed til now. I was impressed by the variety of baked goods and the reasonable prices. I tried the chocolate frosted donut, seasonal peach muffin, frosted twist, and chocolate blackout cake. They have a case for donuts and muffins, as well as a refrigerated section. The refrigerated section has a variety of whole cakes, cupcakes, and cheesecakes among others things. If you don't want to buy a whole cake, they have a selection of slices at the register. They also have ample seating inside and a drink case (with milk to wash down the chocolate goods!) if you want to eat in. The employees I interacted with were nice too. Came here to get some donuts. Bakery Express has been around for over 50 years. I'm upset I just found out about it! There is plenty of parking out front of the building. I entered and it smelled so good! There was a wall of fresh donuts; assorted ones such as filled, glazed, etc. They were $9.99/dz and the top self donuts were $1.25 ea. We got a dozen and they were delicious! Goodbye Dunkin'! This is a full service bakery and they have assorted pastries, a full custom cake ordering area (the cakes were gorgeous), and they serve breakfast and lunch items as well. **Craving satisfied and then some.** I stopped by Bakery Express in Halethorpe, MD on a mission for a really good donut and let's just say, they understood the assignment. I started with their "top shelf" Coffee Roll for $1.25, and it absolutely lived up to the name. It was huge, fresh, not too sweet, and incredibly filling. I also grabbed a Cheese Danish for $1.95 to go. It was soft, buttery, and bigger than my hand. For the price? Total steal. What I didn't expect was the full café experience tucked inside. Naturally, I ordered breakfast: a toasted egg and cheese croissant sandwich with cheddar and four strips of crispy bacon for just $8. Add in a refillable small coffee ($1.69) and my total came to $13.47. Worth every bite. I left full and happy. Service was smooth and mostly self-serve; I loved the attention to hygiene: handwashing stations, sanitizer, and even plastic gloves provided when selecting donuts. Tons of seating, clean restrooms, and yes handicap accessible throughout. They also offer grab-and-go items like salads and subs, which makes it super convenient if you're short on time. The coffee was hot, fresh, and tasted just right...no burnt aftertaste. And let's talk desserts: cupcakes, cookies, slices of cake in just about every flavor imaginable. Let me tell you.... I got up early this morning to come try this place out. Didn't make it here til about 830am. Parking was easy and let me tell you they were busy. I didn't know they offered some things where you could dine in. Dining area was nice, clean and spacious. The selection of goods were great. I chose a lemon pound cake, chocolate chip cookies, snicker doodle cookies, red velvet cupcakes and a slice of strawberry smith island cake. Nothing disappointed. Everything was fresh. My favorite was the strawberry smith island cake slice. It didn't even make it home. I ate it in the car. The service was very pleasant. Next time I must try the fresh donuts. I stumbled upon Bakery Express while searching for dessert one day and was pleasantly surprised, though the experience had its quirks. At first, I thought my GPS had led me astray--it took me to an industrial-looking area, but sure enough, the bakery is right next to their corporate offices. Parking was plentiful, which was a nice plus. Walking in, I was shocked at how large the space was and the sheer number of desserts available. While I found the doughnut flavors a little underwhelming, the rest of their pastry selection more than made up for it. I tried a doughnut and a slice of cheesecake, both of which were good--just not amazing. I'd likely return, though, simply because of the incredible variety. After thorough research, I landed on Bakery Express because of their pricing and prompt response to emails. I'm glad to say that it was a great decision. Every time I interacted, both in person, on the phone and in email, they've been nothing but pleasant and accommodating. Most importantly, my wife's cake came out nearly identical to the picture I sent them for inspiration. The cake was Red velvet w/ white chocolate mousse and white buttercream. I could smell them from down the street! I was passing through and I smelled baked bread. The GPS confused me, because it's attached to the distribution center. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. Very clean and spacious. The staff was also very friendly. I ordered a slice of strawberry smith island cake first...so good. Wow - what a gem! In the industrial park area, there is an unassuming fantastic bakery just waiting for me to buy a dozen donuts (or maybe someday a whole ice cream cake!). I arrived somewhat late in the day and was pleased to see they still had great options for donuts - and all of the ones below the top shelf are just .99! They also have lunch items, to-go food, cakes, pastries, muffins... the list goes on and on. The woman at the counter was friendly and made great suggestions as I tried to narrow their many (probably more than 20?) different donut options down to 4! She suggested the PB&J donut, I was sold on the peanutbutter icing, but the inside jelly was fantastic! The raspberry filled powdered was delightful, the base of the donuts was airy and amazing - I got both a white icing with rainbow sprinkles and a chocolate icing. Nothing was a miss! This is a great place to stop by to pick up some cheap baked goods and lunch! They sell 1/2 dozen of donuts for 4.50 (additional 25 cents per any top shelf big donuts) or 1 dozen for 8. What a great deal! They also sell donut holes, discount baked goods (got a bag of 8 large croissants for $4), frozen cakes, and more. A small container of donut holes (it's actually big) comes with blueberry cake and glazed flavor, sells for around $3. I don't normally like cake donuts, but the blueberry cake donut was delicious! The donuts taste yeasted and are large and moist. We tried glazed donut and twist, pink icing, apple fritter, coconut, and M&M. The glazed were great. The pink donut that we thought was strawberry was just pink-colored icing which was very disappointing. Apple fritter had a lovely spice flavor to it but no real apples inside. Coconut was moist and delicious, very well-flavored. M&M was not glazed but had a chocolate dip on it - this was just OK to me. They don't have that many unique or special flavors in my opinion - very standard flavors. They had 2 decorative Holiday donuts that I was excited about, but it turns out they were just plain vanilla flavor with special decoration. It's just good to get some standard flavors on the cheap here. We also ate lunch in the cafe which has dine-in. I got the chipotle beef panini sandwich which was piping hot and came with a pickle. It wasn't my favorite combo of flavors in the end, so I'd probably go for something else next time but the ciabatta bread was delicious. My boyfriend got "The Val" sandwich on a cheddar jalapeno bagel (no extra charge) -- it was HUGE, the bacon was super crispy, and the ingredients tasted fresh. What a wonderful find! Tucked into an industrial park is a bakery with delicious donuts and pastries and cakes! The selection is quite large and there is even a kitchen for bagels and breakfast sandwiches etc. I ordered a bagel, but the real star here are the pastries. They have a several refrigerators lines up filled with cakes, cupcakes, and other special treats that are ready to take home. I was pleasantly surprised to also find a few sugar free options. The prices were incredible too. My daughter and I got two donuts, bagel and cream cheese and a coffee for less than $5, and the cakes were very reasonably priced as well.
