Like stepping into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory magical or unicorn pony magical. Basically this is a bakery and deli attached to a huge bakery factory. It's much bigger than I imagined. There is a counter to order breakfast and lunch, a Coca-cola fountain machine and brewed coffee. You can get your meal to go or dine in and marvel at the many, many dessert cases. For desserts for a crowd they have lots of freezers with whole cakes in them like Smith Island cake. This is totally where I am going the next time I need a pecan pie, tiramisu or other fancy dessert. This is the bakery to come to for everything from donuts to custom cakes. I am a long-time customer. I used to enjoy this place even more back in the days when it was Miss desserts on Rolling Road. Not that there's anything wrong with this location, its just they had a couple of different items then thats not available at this location such as their "Cheesequakes" (Toffee crunch was my favorite.) and they had a large selection of imperfect items that they would sell at a quarter of the normal price. I would gladly buy a cake with slightly smudged icing or that was slightly lopsided for five bucks on the cake would normally sell for $20 or a whole pan of brownies for only a couple of dollars. I've been going to this bakery since it was Mrs. Desserts. They do have wonderful desserts. We moved from the area 7 years ago, but when we come to Baltimore, I always like to stop. Today, I wanted a few slices of the different cakes they sell. My first request was the key lime, the slice that was staring at me. They sell fresh based cookies, pastries, and donuts that are amazing ( Way better than Dunkins). The last three times we have gone, they've gotten our orders wrong, forgotten items, etc. because it's all made from scratch, each order takes 20 minutes to prepare. They have a discount rack to the right as you walk in which has a variety of muffins and other baked goods priced to move. This bakery is about a 2 minute drive from my office and not only is it a bakery it's a warehouse. I stopped at this little gem of a place yesterday as I was waiting for the unreliable, can't-stick-to-their-own-schedule MARC train. Since I had some time to kill before my train came, I decided to drive around instead of sitting in my car at the station like a stalker. During my drive, I came here. The selection for their donuts are plentiful and not only that, it's reasonably priced too. They also offer other delectable delights like brownies, lemon bars, speciality croissants, etc. which is at a decent cost too. They also make sandwiches so you are free to have them to go or eat in the cafe. There is plenty of seating and it's really clean and inviting. The staff is very friendly and they have packaged goods that you can purchase in case you don't want to wait in line, not that it will be an issue since there is always someone at the registers to assist. I was so happy with this place that I even tipped the cashier because she was THAT nice. I can't wait to visit again. The next time, I will dine in. One side note...the location for this place is in an industrial area of Halethorpe so you will see a lot of trucks, tractor trailers, etc but don't let that put you off. read more

Service: This was my first time having bakery express. I ordered over the phone over the past week, calling in was pretty easy, I just let them know my order and they got it ready for me! I came in yesterday to pick up my cake and although it was an order that had been in a week prior to picking it up when I received it I overheard the employees saying something about frozen..? So instead of letting me know, I had to ask them if it was frozen. They gave it to me to which they replied yes... Then I had to ask if I needed to thaw it out, which one employee said thawing it out would be an hour to an hour and a half. Another said I could eat it frozen. Didn't really get a clear answer till I called later and another employee said I was supposed to thaw it (haha and not eat it frozen) out which I did. This cake was for my husband's birthday party, which luckily for me was not starting for two hours, but if the timing was any different this would be a huge inconvenience, and the fact that the employees didn't even warn me, much less really acknowledge the situation just rubbed me the wrong way. Presentation & Quality: WOW!! The cake was BEAUTIFULLY pre-sliced, decorated, and DELICIOUS!! They put an edible banner on TOP of the slices for the Happy Birthday sign and it looked great! Although the atmosphere leaves much to be desired( it's not exactly the most cozy place) the food and baked goods at the cafe here more than makes up for that! The prices are reasonable,too. We want to Corner Florist for a plant and on the counter was a box of Bakery Express Donuts. We asked the girl where are they located , she told us where they are and we just had to go there. WOW we could not believe the variety of donuts they have. They also have a lunch menu. All the employees are friendly and very helpful. Typically this results in a quick run to Laurel's very own Dutch farmers' market however this year, I accompanied a colleague to Bakery Express and got a bunch of fresh cakes and treats for the low low (reasonable cost lol). This location was sparkling clean and there were several employees eager to assist us during our visit. Yes, this place has incredible donuts and pastries but has so much more! The bagels and breads are fantastic, the drinks are cold and the desserts and amazing!
