To keep this review short and sweet: 1. Service is always top notch. I visited numerous times and have always been greeted by a friendly cashier. 2. The prices are extremely low and they have an "oops" case full of full size cheesecakes that had cracks in the top for $5!!! 3. The donuts/cookies are always fresh, but they can run out towards the afternoon. I always make an attempt to arrive in the morning before 11am. 4. Donuts and cookies and cakes, oh my! Bakery Express supplies 7-11 with all of their donuts and various chain restaurants with their cakes and cheesecakes. This retail location is where you can purchase any and all of their baked goods and even order specialty cakes. It's part bakery/retail store/cafe and my saving grace when I can't, or don't want to, bake something myself. I've come here to order special cakes before and they do a decent job. They may not be all fancy pants cakes like Duff's, but they look and taste pretty good. This is also a great place to swing by and pick up a yummy dessert if you have a dinner party or cook out to do go - trays of brownies, unsliced and pre-sliced cakes and cheesecakes, tubs of cookies and so on. If you're lucky, they'll have their "Oops" cakes available - which look perfectly fine to me, but don't meet their standards for one reason or another - and is sold for a ridiculously reduced price. So, this morning we woke up pretty hungry and decided to venture out on yelp for good breakfasts. We found Bakery Express and decided we were going to try it out. Bakery Express was about 7 minutes away, so it was awesome. We get to the address and it's a huge warehouse so we thought we are in the wrong place. Turns out we were in the correct place and just had no idea how cool this place was. We found the menu online to be very helpful, that way when we arrived in store we knew what we were getting into. We got doughnuts, egg and cheese on bagels and breakfast potatoes. Everyone was so pleasant and so kind. It felt like family!!! Bakery Express not only makes products but sells a bunch of different desserts as well. In the fridges we saw, cakes, pies, pull apart bread, cupcakes, and other sweets. And then there were also cookies, pastries, smaller sized desserts, doughnuts and pretzel bread platters. We got back to the house and the food was so amazing! The doughnuts tasted like how my grandmother use to make them. Homemade and delicious. The bagels were so good. The potatoes were awesome and stayed hot on our journey home. I say that because the prices are really low, the breakfasts and lunches, sweets, pastries and dessert products are very tasty, easily accessible and the service is excellent. Recently the company expanded its cafe and menu to accommodate more customers...you are surrounded by display cases of every kind of donut, pastry and dessert you can possibly think of. and if that won't tempt you, there are two large shelves of discounted bread, rolls, and sweet products, all of which are fresh and very good. In my group of 10, nearly all of the ladies take home a few bags of fresh donuts from the discounted shelves every time we meet there for breakfast...very affordable for the older customer. This is a 5 star bakery, Ms. Desserts distributor and sandwich stop. My wife and I have been going here for their cakes since Ms. Desserts moved to this location years ago. Whenever we are having friends or family over for dinner we come here for their frozen cakes. They take a day to thaw so you need to plan ahead. I can't say this enough: Their bakery goods are incredible. Lately, I've been getting their large soft pretzels. I like their breads as well. They are a Ms. Desserts distributor, but they run their shop like a small mom and pop store. Their breakfast and lunch offerings are good, but don't really rate 5 stars. They are a bakery. This is the place to go if you want sweet treats and a great cup of coffee. Their lunches were good also. Back when things were more normal my friends and I would visit for a morning coffee and doughnut, but it was hard to limit myself to just one. My wife liked to visit for lunch, which was fine with me. I saw, another review complain about day old stock, and I can honestly say I never had that experience there. During normal times at the end of their day they run a special on doughnuts where they greatly reduce the prices and if you were not there early there would be hardly anything left, so I don't know how they could have gotten stale goods. read more

Just happened to find this place from Yelp reviews and so glad I did. Came here Sunday and got an egg and cheese sandwich on a pretzel roll and my friend got an egg sandwich on a bagel. Bakery Express is located just south of the Beltway in an industrial park. It is a large baking plant, clearly their operation supplies doughnuts and baked goods for a large amount of customers somewhere. They do have a storefront with a café, so you can come in and buy doughnuts, bread, or cakes, or sit down and enjoy a sandwich or salad. I don't think their doughnuts are the best, I think the larger the batch the lesser the quality it seems. So there are better baked goods at the small bakery down the road, but they are arguably better than some national doughnut chains. I understand they have end-of-day sales, which would be great for picking up some doughnuts for the kids on the way home from work. read more
