Honestly, the food was just okay. I had pretty high expectations for this Peruvian restaurant because it was highly recommended to me, but unfortunately, none of the dishes I tried really stood out. Everything was lacking in flavor, and I don't feel like this was a great representation of the authentic flavors of Peru. I ordered the Causa Rellena, Lomo Saltado a la Pobre, Arroz Chaufa, and Ají de Gallina. While none of the dishes were necessarily bad, they were all pretty underwhelming and didn't have the depth of flavor I was expecting. My other complaint was the service. It was fairly slow, and we weren't offered refills or asked if we wanted any additional drinks throughout the meal. Peruvian cuisine in the Home Style: The owner is our chef tonight, Chef Gladys. These roasted kernels of (not corn) but something similar. like a cross between spanish peanuts and roasted corn. Yum, and free. Stained concrete floors. At first blush, common walk-in diner style seating, small and deli atmosphere, but, like a good chile it slowly creeps up on you. Little touches, like the posters that let you dream into Lima, wall adornments that feature rich carving, stitched alpaca rug... The chairs are surprisingly high quality wood backed diner's chairs, solid and all impeccably clean. Walls dripping with decorations, wall papers, Peruvian flags, woodcraft and some "tacky" decoration tinsel curtains from Valentines Day (probably on clearance at Party City), cleanly painted and bright walls. But, my wife, having been to Peru on a few mission trips verified, "this is Peru!". So, full marks on authenticity, atmospheric flavor, and the dishes she couldn't wait to dig into State-side. Lomo Saltado: Rich soft medallions of beef, with large sautéed red onion slices and herbs resting in the pan sauce with a pyramid of white rice and a pile of timber plank style potato fries. Both my wife and daughter order this. And it looks like we are homeless, because they both clean the plates so thoroughly, they might be mistaken for clean dishes when Jasmine returns them to the kitchen. I choose the Alitas Inka Brasas, but don't be dismayed by the fancy name, this is simply 6 buffalo wings with French Fries, see pic. But it feels festive to call it something foreign. They are delicious by the way, and the sauce has a good punch. You know when a pizza joint tries to offer chicken wings and they are the absolute worst things that exist in the fast food world...these are nothing like that! Jasmine brought us some green sauce that is Jalapeño verde and some red that is a native Peruvian Rocoto pepper blend that brings just enough heat to add it to every bite of french fry. different and fun. Videos running on several monitors are actually full of the owner cooking the dishes in the menu!! How cool and original is that!?! Loo Review: This is a little Best for Last bit, aside from the wonderful food...This bathroom is so nice! I did not see this coming...OK, it's not the most extravagant materials, but it looks like they gave Martha Stewart a small budget and said "do your best!" It looks like something out of the Hamptons or a resort in Lima. Bright crisp, cozy and calm...yeah, all of those, and it works. On theme with the color palate from the dining area, but so cozy and utterly free of the Latin party feel the main room emits. I really enjoyed this place and rank it in the top tier of themed loos I have ever reviewed. A bit pricey, but truly original and authentic to its claims, and all personally chef inspired. When I think Peruvian chicken, I expect crispy, golden skin. What I got instead was more "soft and confused." Even my neighbors who actually know Peruvian food recommended this place with a disclaimer, admitting the chicken is not great here. The seasoning went hard on oregano and cumin, like someone spilled the spice rack. To be fair, the chicken was not dry, which earns it a small mercy point. The cilantro lime green sauce was fine. Not bad, not exciting, just kind of there. The staff was friendly though, and that honestly did some heavy lifting. Wowzers! I found authentic Perviuan dishes! It's a gem to find this place, right in my own back yard! Food is so good! It's been open for one year! My husband and I came in on Saturday night for dinner. We were seated right away as there were only two more tables of people. We ordered Causa Rellena and choclo Peruano con queso. All the food here was so bland and lackluster! It all needs a lot of salt. The causa rellena had almost no taste to it, there was barely any chicken inside, and the corn appetizer was just inedible. I was spoiled in LA with so many great Peruvian places and boy do I miss them. My cravings for chica morada have been met! Definitely recommend washing everything down with the unique and freshly made tasting purple corn drink here! And for you plantain lovers there's sweet ones and the ones I got which were huge and amazing fried ones called tostones. Dipped in the to die for green sauce along with the yucca fries and dare I say I enjoyed the sides more than the main dish! Don't get me wrong the chicken was juicy, moist and flavorful but to me the sides and sauce and drink were the stars. We also got the classic lomo saltado which tasted exactly how it should. The Peruvian food here is great. We had Lomo Saltado and Chaufa de Pollo. The corn nuts were a pleasant discovery we've never had in the scores of Peruvian restaurants we've visited.
