I can start by saying for starters. If you want to call and order ahead of time it will say " the google number is not setup" so there is no way of contacting the business to place orders or if you have items missing like I did today. While walking in we were greeted today. Employees seemed highly concerned as they were all discussing they have not been paid and the owner was dodging them. Which is unfair to work for free. We ordered the #1 seafood platter and a fish plate. I also ordered extra corn and eggs but did not receive the extra items that were paid for. The foil pan was full of a lot of butter and oil! It was a family reunion of potatoes and not enough seafood in the platter. Very low on the shrimp! It's supposed to come with 20 but it wasn't. We chose Garlic Jalapeño for the seasoning but we did not taste any of it on the food. It was like butter mixed with salt, pepper, and sugar. The butter as well with a sprinkle of garlic seasoning. For the price and size of the pan the quality should be way better. The environment of the restaurant is ok. It's kind of dark on the inside you would think it's closed. Clearly, they have changed management. Let me preface this review by stating I've always had a pleasant experience and order being consistent. However, I ordered the King Me and hushpuppies as well as a boiled shrimp dinner. I always order the garlic butter which is not spicy but this time, they apparently add house spice to the butter now. I didn't want spicy. The crablegs were miserly as well as the whole dish seemed smaller than before. It used to come in a foil dish wrapped in plastic, overflowing. We did not receive the hushpuppies so I called the store and when I started to explain and inform them I did not receive the hushpuppies, the girl hung up on me. I called back and a different person answered so I began to state why I called, she cut me off saying they were out of hushpuppies and you will get a refund. I asked so why didn't anyone call, text, whatever to let me know we would not be receiving hushpuppies, she didn't respond and hung up on me as well! They don't provide with utensils to properly open the shell, they leave you a plate on your table to deal with it... people were using their teeth! Cheap ambiance! This wasn't my first visit, but it was the worst as far as the food was concerned. As I began to eat, something wasn't the same, the taste. Then when I took a bite of the egg, I was very disappointed, not only was it hard, like it had been overcooked and then sat out for hours, but it tasted bad. I immediately threw it away. The crab, shrimp, sausage, and corn were all decent, but not the usual exceptional. I will be back and I'm going to chalk this one up to a bad day. Came for Ash Wednesday! I was already craving seafood & been wanting to check this place out! I went with their combo #10 - kitchen sink & substituted the corn for another boiled egg. For it being a boil, there was quite a bit of oil all up in my meal. I will say the food was well seasoned though! The potatoes was a bit over cooked but tasty nonetheless. To preface, I am a 20 year old white man from a suburban neighborhood. When I tell you this is the best food I've ever eaten in my entire life I mean it. I swear I entered some kind of hypnotic trance when I took the first bite of that crab. Not only was the food insanely good, I felt as comfortable in this restaraunt as I would have in the home of a long time family friend; the cashiers were lovely. My favorite part of the whole experience was when they played 'Sexual Healing' by Marvin Gaye as I took the first bite of my shrimp, and I felt as if I experienced my own sexual healing this evening. Not exactly sure how this place has such a high score on Yelp. Drove across town to come here there was no one sitting inside. I will say that the lady that took my order was very nice and she even recommended what I should get. I got the combination with one crab leg, six shrimp, corn, potatoes and an egg. Spent about $22. And something else that I haven't really seen they cut up the potatoes and placed them all at the bottom to make the tray look full. I'm use to whole potatoes, not chopped up. Wanted a Coke, but the fountain was broken and they only had sweet tea, lemonade, and some kind of punch and maybe Gatorade or regular sodas. Crabs are extremely small, definitely frozen, and they heated up my entire plate. Everything was lukewarm and definitely not made to order. It was not hot at all. The corn was overcooked and taste like it had been soaking in plain butter. Potatoes were flavorless and so was the egg. The sausage wasn't even andouille was a low quality, and boiled with no seasoning. The six shrimp were already pre-peeled and small. They should've at least left the shell on like a true shrimp boil. I don't recommend going to this place at all because there's so many other great seafood boil places in Houston and in spring. Now I see why it was empty. I called to place an order one the phone! Von who Works there told me to place it online. I did. My order was supposed to be ready within the time frame given. I get to this place 25 mins later and I asked for my order of $101.00 Von stated it did not go through. He decides to take my order I proceeded to ask for a refund. The manager Sam! Stumbled upon this place while in the area for work. This is a hotspot for Uber eats/ Grubhub and if you are dining in you will notice them prioritizing those orders over the dine ins. It was only us and two other tables there and all of us waited 35+ minutes for our food while to go orders seemed to be in and out. We were patient since we noticed how incredibly busy they were with take out. The ladies working behind the counter kept upbeat and positive attitudes despite the rush and were very apologetic for the wait. When we finally got our food, it was worth the wait! Celebrating a special day and the birthday girl wanted Cajun Seafood! Thought we'd try a new spot not a good idea. We went on a week night so not too busy inside. You would think that's great right but nope! The place is cute has really nice tables but small. Finally stopped in to try this little joint. I had heard a few people talk about the location on Antoine, so I was stoked when I found out they had another location. We came in on a Friday night to try a new boiling crab joint aside from our usual spot. Considering it was Friday, we called ahead to see if there was a wait- luckily it was not. Once we arrived we were greeted by the staff at the front counter. Definitely a simple and quaint setup - a no frills spot, but a decent place to come and enjoy some fresh seafood. They had the menus posted, but it took us awhile to decide. I just asked if we could combine a few things because they did offer combos that could include, snow crab, shrimp, potatoes, corn and sausage. Then you have a choice of Cajun or garlic and lemon butter seasonings. We opted for a lb. of the garlic and lemon butter shrimp, and their snow crab and shrimp combo. Here's the cool part, the shrimp were DE-VEEEINED AAAND PEELED. I know that sounds pretty simple, but I am surprised at many boiling crab places DO - NOT- DO -THIS! So, I always ask. I must say that I was pretty happy and impressed by this concept alone having not even tried the food yet, but I appreciated them fine tuning those small, yet important details. Moving on, the food was great. Well seasoned, nice portions and flavorful. I also appreciated that the corn and potatoes came WITH the meal at no an additional cost. That's so greedy to me when places charge extra for that! It's like requesting gumbo, and the meat is extra. Or asking for a pbj and the restaurant charges for bread. I think you get my drift. Lastly, the service was on point as well. Our server was quite attentive to our needs and patient as we did not realize it was near closing while we we were still eating. An added bonus was the bubbling hand wash they give you at the end. I tried uploading the video, but it wouldn't work. But basically they bring you a glass container filled with water that bubbles so you can clean your hands - a nice added touch. Fine print: I am not a seafood boil kinda girl--too much work and too messy. I tried this spot to see if it was some place I would recommend to my crab eating family when they come to visit. They are going to love it! I ordered To Go because I needed to change into yard clothes and take my shoes off so I could properly handle up on that hot buttered plate of deliciousness.
