Absolutely LOVE this place. Went for the first time with a friend of ours who is Peruvian and wanted to have authentic Peruvian food for his birthday. The entire menu we ordered was fantastic. The ceviche is phenomenal and the chicken and beef plate super delicious. We have been ordering food to go from this restaurant ever since. They do Uber Eats so it works perfect for us. We recently learned that the owner-chef was the chef of a well known restaurant in downtown Houston. Very cool

We stopped in for takeout dinner and were surprised that it wasn't packed because their food is fantastic. We love Peruvian food (and I love aji amarillo) so we were hoping it would meet our expectations, and it did. We got the chicken sandwich, fried rice bowl with aji amarillo, small side of plantains, and a large chicha morada. The serving size on the rice bowl was large enough that I'll be (happily) having leftovers for lunch. The staff member working at the register gave me some extra sauces, which was really nice (and appreciated- loved the Mayo, aji, and herbed aji). We'll be back for lunch another day!

Delicious chicken and a great deal for lunch! The plantains were perfectly cooked and the side portions were generous. I will definitely be back.

I really enjoy the flavors of the chicken. The spices are a little different giving it's a unique and pleasurable taste.

El Bitute Peruvian cuisine - Lomo Saltado

We stopped at the food truck park for a different truck but since they were closed and we can never…read moreturn down empanadas, we gave El Bitute a try. And boy am I glad we did! The beef empanadas were delicious and the addition of a light sprinkling of powdered sugar was inspired. Added a whole other profile to the fried goodness. The causa was a new item for me. Think tuna salad and mashed potato casserole served cold, but as a light and refreshing dish, with some crema on top. This would be a perfect dish for any backyard mixer or bbq. The plantains were perfectly fried, soft and sweet and savory and crispy.

Why 4 stars? Because this was a solid rendition of lomo saltado…read more --- --- --- I fell in love with lomo saltado while living in Tampa for the last 15 years, where I felt like we had a pretty decent contingent of Peruvian restaurants. When I found this food truck on Yelp with a perfect 5-star average, I knew I wanted to get here soon. After several weekends in a row of not making my way over, I finally got a chance to experience it. The verdict: it definitely hit the spot, but I do think I've had a bit better. The meat was seasoned well and the flavors were on point, but I think the super thick cut fries is what I didn't love. They were a bit much - I'd prefer a more standard size fry as the thick ones are a bit dry in the middle. But I definitely want to come back and try the paella sometime and will be sure to do so!

For many years, I have passed this restaurant. The server told me it had been there for 12 years,…read morewhich seems actually shorter than my recollection, but I won't argue the point. Why it took me so long to get here however is a mystery to me because it's a lovely restaurant. I don't mean by that the ambience it's actually rather plain however the service and the food is absolutely spectacular. I'm by no means an expert in Peruvian food however the patrons were buying for Peruvian hence I'm going to take their presence as a statement about authenticity of the food and a 12 year history. They don't sell alcohol so all of their profits are from dishes, which are absolutely spectacular. We had something a kin to an empanada, which was made with beef deep fried, but the crust was very white and very flavorful. The server gave me a side dip which added some spice to the meal however, before putting it on, I ate some without the dip and it was very flavorful. Potatoes, rice and beans are a large part of Peruvian cuisine all of which I tasted here all of which were very, very good. We got basically a sampler tray which included ceviche beef, chicken, and a potato bean combination, which was just wonderful. The waiter was kind enough to point it out to us and I'm glad he did because it was a great overview of what Peruvian food is. Since I'm not familiar with the cuisine rather than spend a great deal of time addressing it what I'm going to tell you is, it is a wonderful restaurant, the service is equally wonderful, BYOB and enjoy yourself. I will not let so much time go again before I revisit this fine Restaurant. It was a pleasure.

Westchase

I have been eyeing Pacha Nikkei for the longest time and finally got the chance to go during lunch…read more They are located in westchase area in Houston and specialize in Japanese Peruvian fusion. I believe the chef also cooks for the Peruvian embassy here sometimes in Houston. The inside of their restaurant is decorated in a very intimate way with cultural aspects from the two countries. You already know I HAD to get ceviche when coming to a Peruvian restaurant. I got the ceviche chalaco, which includes mahi-mahi, octopus, shrimp, racoto-aji leche de Tigre, choclo, sweet potato puree, cancha, topped with fried cuttlefish. It has a nice citrus flavor and the leche de Tigre base is soo good. I actually really liked the mahi-mahi, and the fried cuttlefish was fried to perfection with the fish inside still being soft and delicious. That sweet potato puree really elevates the dish as well, it helps counter the citrus flavor but adds another dimension of flavor. My friend got the lomo saltado and it was so so good. The beef was so tender and easy to chew. The soy-oyster sauce they use makes this dish soooo so good. I love the steak fries drenched with the sauce too. I got the arroz con Mariscos. I remember they used to put squid ink in the rice back then. They infuse the rice with aji Amarillo (green pepper sauce?) and top it with shrimp, clams, mussels, octopus, cod, and sarza criolla (vinegar onions). It's basically a seafood paella. This was actually pretty mild in flavor compared to the lomo saltado. The rice was good and almost creamy like but I don't think I was a fan of the corn/bean like pieces in the rice? The seafood itself was good as well, especially the shrimp. If you come here you need to for sure get the ceviche and lomo saltado. They also have sushi rolls that you can order as well, they seem like very unique ones too

The ambience was also nice- apparently there is dancing on some nights? Nice mix of Japanese and Peruvian foods. Also had the sushi, which was delicious. Overall, very solid restaurant.
