Thai Cottage is a solid place for Thai takeout in the Woodlands area of Texas. The taste of both the papaya salad and tom kha soup were spot on and reminded me of the flavors I had in Thailand for the most part. I also appreciate that they adhere to the true Thai spice level ratings here. I got the medium spice level for the papaya salad in case they weren't true to the Thai spice levels and a mild for the tom kha soup in case they did. I'm glad I was cautious because even the medium for the papaya salad was very spicy in the best way. The portion size for the papaya salad was a bit disappointing especially for the price and after seeing how the portions look like for dine in. Small stand alone bldg behind the Taco Bell, chase bank and Panera bread. We walked in and we were greeted right away and seated. Drink orders taken within 2-3 mins Place is clean and appears well maintained. Decor is nice. Parking lot is large. We arrived Sat at 11:30am for lunch and we were a group of 4 and there were 3 other tables already seated and couple more after we arrived. We ordered the 2 Yellow curry and 1 red curry on season level 2 (to me it was perfect, 1-2 is mild and 3 would be my suggested max which I'll try 3 next visit) we ordered 1 with shrimp and 2 with chicken and one fried rice with chicken. We ordered off the lunch part of the menu on back page. You get a choice of a green leaf salads or soup. 3 of us chose soup and the 4th got salad. The soup today was a cabbage soup with chicken, served hot and tasted really good, I suggest the soup as I only like iceberg salad or Cesar salad. Price was around $15 per person and the portion size was well with the price. Everything tasted really good and served hot and we had no complaints. We will return again for sure. read more

I recently stayed at a hotel in the area to study for a major exam and decided to order Thai Cottage via Uber Eats so I wouldn't have to leave my room. I ordered the red curry, and while I understand that red curry typically contains some oil, this dish was overwhelmingly oily. Even after mixing it, the oil quickly separated and rose back to the top--it was so excessive that I couldn't bring myself to eat it. It honestly felt like a health hazard. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager, Sarah, who was very kind and professional. She mentioned they recently switched to a new coconut milk, which leads me to believe I may not be the first person to raise concerns. I would strongly recommend that the restaurant conduct a quality assurance review of their recipes and ingredients. The level of oil in this dish was excessive and concerning--not something anyone should be consuming. Outside of that the taste was horrible. I love red curry. It's on of my favorite dishes. Had lunch at Thai Cottage a few days ago and it was good! The place is cozy and spacious, and we were quickly seated. We ordered their papaya salad, pad see ew, green curry, and double pleasure on the grill. Servings are pretty large so do keep that in mind! With that being said I completely devoured the pad see ew lol. It was seasoned perfectly and had the perfect amount of mix-ins. The noodles were soft and not too chewy as well. I took a few bites from the grill platter and it was good! Liked how soft the scallops were. The green curry was pretty runny and the chicken was slightly overcooked. We haven't stopped thinking about them a week later. Sadly they don't deliver to our home. I received prompt service from the bar upon walking in. Came here for dinner with a friend and really enjoyed our meal. We came the last day of Houston Restaurant Weeks so we enjoyed their dinner special. I ordered the wings, vegetable soup, green curry with shrimp and egg custard with sticky rice. Now the portions were normal size so I could not finish all the food there but everything ordered was so delicious. The wings were perfectly fried and their spicy, sticky garlic wing sauce was incredible! The vegetable soup had a great savory but light flavor. The green curry I asked for in the hottest level of spicy and I would say it would be a level 3 based on other Thai restaurants, but the flavor was good and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. I hasn't had Thai custard before and it was a surprisingly sweet end to a delicious meal. Our server was very nice and check in on us throughout the meal but I will say service went from really slow to the food coming out almost back to back. read more

While going through their bountiful restaurants and menus, I came across something that satisfied curiosity, fatness and frugality. I only hoped that it would also satisfy taste! For $35, this place was offering a 4 course dinner with multiple options to choose from. Just take a look at all that was available: First Course WINGS OF PARADISE crispy fried chicken wings with garlic in special sauce, garnished with fried sweet basil. SA-TE CHICKEN marinated chicken on skewers, grilled and served with peanut sauce and cucumber sauce. They have the traditional spice scale of 1 to 5 with one being the least spicy. I stayed with a very tasty number one. Something about being able to taste my food and keeping my stomach lining intact appeals to me. I ordered the wings, yum woon sen, duck and the ice cream. Yummmmmyyyy. I will not describe the different taste and textures that made up the various yums. Trust me...my options were all good. Just come here and try it soon. The amount of courses plus food you get for that price is definitely worth your time. Constructive criticism: The kitchen needs to get food out around the same time. Five people went, service by Patrick was smooth and attentive. If you go to Thai Cottage during the day it's nice. But at night it becomes kinda magical with the mood lighting and artwork. My friend and I met there for lunch. It looked nice, clean. Also liked the Thai decorations. The staff who served us was professional. We both ordered vegetarian Pad Thai, no onion, no garlic, and no fish sauce. She also ordered veggie fry-rice for her kid with the same restrictions. The pad Thai came looking ok (not the best looking pad Thai I ever had, I would say). However, after I mixed the food, it looked darker than normal pad Thai that I had before, and it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SALTY, tasted like the cook knocked the salt bottle into the dish. My friend said hers was the same. I only ate a few bites due to the saltiness due to my health condition. Took the rest home but throw it out afterwards due to the saltiness issue. On top of that, her kid's fry rice's flavor had extra smell that she ordered not to have (not sure it's from garlic or fish sauce). The worst, it also had A STRAND OF HAIR in the kid's fry rice. Too bad she and I didn't take the picture of the fry rice with the hair. It was so discussing. Conclude the reasons above, it was a shame that I have to say I will NEVER go back. Don't get me wrong, the restaurant appeared clean. Staff was friendly. I didn't see anything that grossed me out. It was just the food - it was mediocre at best. We had green curry (medium heat) & wings of paradise. Both were just meh. The curry was watery and flavorless. Thai cottage is one of my favorite Thai Restaurants. The food is so delicious and I always enjoy the ambiance. The service is on point.

Not really impressed. The pineapple tofu curry wasn't very spicy and the pineapples weren't fully cooked. Tofu tasted off as well.

thai tea is good, could be better. slightly watered down and having it premixed in a bottle is not my favorite. the wings are good, crispy, nice flavor. tiger cry is good with plain fried rice. the beef in the fried rice is too chewy and not as good. mango sticky rice always hits, the rice is warm, the coconut milk is creamy, sweet and rich, and the mango is served ripe with no hairs. no one likes a hairy mango unless you like chewing on the seeds. read more
