Came here for the wide variety of food advertised, but we left feeling underwhelmed. The main issue was the constant wait for refills. Also noticed an unpleasant oily taste in kesar Jalebi. We tried the vegetarian curries in the buffet and it lacked flavor. The starters and indo Chinese food was great. But definitely not worth the 40 minutes wait time. read more

I haven't tasted my food yet. It is hot and probably tasty...but CUSTOMER SERVICE IS KING FOR ME!!! Service wasn't rude in tone as far as the young lady that answered the phone. Pleasant and efficient. Ok great. However, when I placed the order with the food delivery service I placed special notes to include an item not on the list of items to purchase but I'm pretty sure they have WITHIN the order notes! Not in the delivery notes...the item is a nominal fee so I took the liberty of calling them to verify that they had this item , that the note was received AND offered to pay for it! After being told I would have it twice and also received a callback/voicemail about it to verify that it will be put in the bag and IT WAS NOT IN MY BAG! My initial call was to simply verify the note was received and she read it to me before I could finish my sentence!! Was promised that I would receive it by their staff and didn't! I am from out of town and won't have a vehicle before they close. And will not spend MORE MONEY and be inconvenienced to go back to pick it up! Hence, the reason I had it delivered. So, I can't go and pick it up, which I would do if I was able because indeed mistakes happen! Completely understandable. So, in search of a service recovery option I asked for a manager, was told there was no one I could speak to about it but was told I would get a call back. Received a call back from a man that swiftly explained there was NOTHING he could because they don't see the notes (which is a lie because she read it to me before I could finish my sentence. We actually chuckled briefly because she knew what I wanted before I could tell her) and that I should contact Uber and take it up with them. EXTREMELY UNACCEPTABLE!! I wish I could share the timeline to prove the lie he told about the fact that the note was not able to be seen by their staff snd that within 3 mins of placing the order...it was packed and out the door??? (Must be super hero's making the food to be delivered and EXTREMELY slow drivers...but anywho) But more so, him not honoring the fact that I spoke to HIS staff member TWICE!! And was left a message promising my item! This item is indeed a "deal breaker" for me! I would have kept my $40+ and ordered from somewhere else. Now I'm stuck with food that I have paid for and I don't even want to eat now due to a taste I desired and no compensation for THEIR over promising and UNDER DELIVERING! Customer Service FAIL!! When I am in Dallas, I will NEVER contact an organization that does not believe in service recovery and accountability for their mistakes. Signed, EXTREMELY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER SERVICE PROFESSIONAL!!! read more

Nothing worse for me than to be craving Indian Food and being disappointed. We were visiting Dallas and looked up places on Yelp. They had really good reviews and a dinner buffet so we decided to try it. Sadly most of the food was not fresh, the chicken and the biryani were dry. I tried a variety of the buffet items and none of them were special. read more

I've always seen this place driving past but finally got a chance to try! I've heard lots of good things and it definitely did not disappoint. There was a lot of variety including classics like butter chicken and biryani. The mango lassi was never-ending for me, and I kept going back for more, especially to help with some of the spice. There's lots of seating space but would recommend getting a standalone table as opposed to the booths near the back as it's a bit crowded in those spaces, which was fine for us as we were part of a large group. As this place is a buffet, I can't comment too much on the service but they were pretty quick to pick up used plates, but could improve on refilling water cups (unless that was something we were expected to do? I don't recall seeing a water refill station, but that could be my mistake.) read more

The price with tax for two was about $45 if I'm remembering correctly, so a little higher than your average buffet but it's worth it for a nicer dining experience and atmosphere. From top to bottom I enjoyed the entire spread of dishes with the exception of the tandoori chicken, it was the most bland tandoori chicken I've ever had and I wish they'd work on improving their recipe for that. Also, I hope they add samosas to the buffet eventually because those things are sooo good. Besides that I was extremely happy. read more

The food was not that great everything tasted store bought and left a lot to desire. This place is not kid friendly with all the cramped areas in the buffet and everything would be too spicy apart for the pizza and the butter chicken. The service was great though with people constantly refilling the food and picking up the extra plates. Lastly I legit counted and I got 83 dishes (when the whole purpose of India 101 is having 101 dishes) including all the naan, chutney, coffee, and even veggies. Overall it felt overrated and left a lot to want. read more

We went here for a lunch after church. They featured a buffet. The food was pretty good. Wide variety. Any shortfall in the food (and I really can't point to any) was made up for by the great attitude of the servers. We had a 2 1/2 year old, and the table next to us had one about to turn 2. Kid friendlyWe would definitely go back. read more

Service is good. Ambiance is fine. I dont think the food choices is 101. There is one goat dish and two dish thats fish. The rest are chicken and veggies. Have more dessert choices. I like the mango lassi, noodle dish, grilled chicken, manchurian dish. read more

Just had the weekend buffet. $22.99. The food was hot, plentiful, and tasty. Since I have never been to India, this was the most Indian people I had seen in one place. So I guess the food must be authentic and good. I definitely had things that I had never had before. The flavors were amazing. Some of the dishes were very spicy. Bring Kleenex. There was a lot of variety. Service was good and helpful. It was very crowded. If we go back, I would want to check out the weekday buffet. It should be cheaper and less crowded. read more

I went to India 101 the other day and got 4 plates of food and mango lassi. My first plate had papad, tandoori chicken, chicken 65, chicken dumplings biriyani, naan, butter chicken, and some chicken curry. The chicken curry had a nice spice and was quite tender. The chicken 65 was very crisp and also possessed a nice flavor and the papad was just papad. The biriyani was extremely bland and the chicken was flavored like water. The butter chicken was way too sweet and I didn't mess with it. However across the board the chicken was extremely tender and cooked very well. My next plate was a pani puri chaat plate. The potato and garbanzo beans mixture was good and I also enjoyed the tamarind sauce. One thing I wish was better was the green chutney as I wish it had more spice. My 3rd plate was gobi manchurian, noodles, and some more crispy chicken. The noodles gave me unforeseen diseases and caused me to cry a little but the gobi manchurian was amazing and by far the best thing I ate from the restaurant. For desert I got a plate of gulab jamun, sheer, and cake. The cake was horrible but the other 2 desserts were good. Overall the food was solid but the way I felt after almost made this a 1 star. My stomach ached like no other and I nearly vomited over 50,000 calories of food. I also destroyed the bathroom and am awaiting a renovation due to the damage I caused! read more

Awesome buffet. Not totally authentic does have great flavor and spices. Price was very reasonable. Gets really busy during peak dinner time read more

If there's one thing that Irving is good at it, it's Indian & Himalayan food! I always take my out of town guests here for the lunch buffet and it doesn't disappoint. Their menu is extensive and they even have a few traditional American dishes to keep those picky eaters happy. I usually load up on freshly baked naan + butter chicken. Gulab jamon and chai are a good way to end my meals here. This is not a cheap meal but definitely worth a visit. Service is not super attentive but this is a buffet so maybe that's worth consideration. read more

I'm not sure who is calling this the "largest Indian buffet in North Texas, but....." I'll try to make this short and sweet... but you know me... Like most places, people are attracted to new/shiny toy. The place isn't brand new but fairly new (New to me at least). Very elegant on the inside. Stairwell leads to an upstairs that be rented for private events. Nice dimly-lit vibe that I like. You can try to call in for reservations or take your chances by walking in. We went on a Friday night and we're seated after 20 minutes of waiting. The BUFFET... somewhat decent selection of food items. I was most impressed with the staff. The kept clearing the table and making drink refills. Very good staff there! I can't give this place a hard time. It was a decent experience. The interior is very sleek, intimate and jazzy. The food choices and taste... meh. I'll be honest, I still love OUR PLACE. I like their garlic chicken. I was a little surprised and disappointed that it's not available at INDIA 101. OVERALL: I recommend you check it out. But don't go in thinking that it's the "end all be all" for Indian buffets. It's also a stretch to say that it's the largest Indian buffet. The place is large but the buffet area is rather small. Go see for yourself read more

Went to dinner there last night, friends and family. The food was okay, nothing to write back to India about. Half the folks are sick now, not sure which specific dish they ate from the buffet, but my guess is they mix old food with new food. I'll never go back (my 3rd time). read more

My husband and I really enjoyed this Indian buffet. We came for lunch at 11AM and everything was clean and already put out. There was about five or six different types biryanis, many chutney, flavors, and even more chicken and curry options. The options were endless for all kinds of food. Our favorites were the Andhra Chicken, Fried chicken, and butter chicken. They had little bowls so that you could try a little bit of everything. Their dessert wasn't the greatest and not many options there but the actual food made up for it. The Mango Lassi was so good! Service was super quick with taking away the plates. read more

LAST VISIT...EVER ! Sunday evening, most of the food tasted reheated and bland. The Tandoori chicken had some weird brown-grey color, and definitely had a leftover flavor. The magic of past of India 101 is gone...and the almost empty dining room on Sunday evening had to be representative of the drop in quality and following. And to add insult to injury they charge $25 a person for bland or leftover foods. Nope...thats it...very sad to say...last visit and I will not return. read more

You get a large selection of items, all fairly well made. It is a buffet so of course the quality is not going to be the absolute best. But for what it is, it is the best Indian buffet in all of Dallas! There's plenty for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. The dessert menu is also good. And you get mango lassi, can't beat that! We were very disappointed in the food everything tasted the same or was very greasy. The temperature in the dining room was awful! People were sweating I imagine it was 80 degrees in there. There is no way the cold foods were kept at temperature. Never again wasting $50 on 2 buffets. read more

I was in town for a business trip and as it was a cold, rainy day spotted this place and as a Brit that grew up on curry, decided to try this place. Happy that I did I got the order to go : Paneer Tikka; it was piping hot, absolutely delicious and so fragrant. It was also quite a sizable portion - probably enough for two as I could only get half way through! Perfect for a cold day! It cake with a side of naan which I loved and was perfect to go with the dish! I also got the vegetarian samosas which were again absolutely amazing! They came with some dipping sauce which was delicious! Loved the food; hot, fresh and delicious! It made my day read more

Ambiance is nice, everything is very clean. Staff is accommodating and nice. I have been here twice, once about 2 years ago and once recently. The experience before was great overall and worth the price (it's not cheap), the most recent visit not so much. There are a lot of dishes, but the quality just isn't there. And, this is a place where people go to socialize, so if you are expecting a normal buffet atmosphere where you get a plate, get your food and go to your table to eat, that isn't what you are going to get. You are going to wait a significant amount of time to get to the food you want because people are crowding/cutting in the line and gathering around the food to socialize. It's frustrating for someone that just wants to get their food and eat. I don't think I'll be going back. read more

This is a restaurant/buffet. The buffet is Friday, Saturday, Sunday. There is a large variety of food. There is a hot food section, salad, chutney, desserts, and soda machine/Lassi stations. We have already come here like 3-4 times within the past 2 months. Just because anytime someone comes to visit we bring them here and I think we will continue to do so for everyone who comes to visit us in Dallas. I think the food is a hit or miss. So, you won't always get great food quality, but the variety makes up for it. It is best to take a little of everything, try it and then get more of what you like. The place has usually been very clean when we come and staff has so far been great to work with. The price is very reasonable for the amount of food you get and that helps a lot when you may have a large party every time you visit. I won't say I love this place because I don't, but it is a great place that accommodates space, variety of food, good customer service, cleanliness and great decor. read more

I went here for lunch yesterday with high hopes based on other reviews. I'm giving them 2 stars because the place was very clean and the buffet had many food options but nothing was particularly good. The tandoori and spicy chicken were the better of all the dishes I tasted. The butter chicken and goat curry (it had no label so I think that's what it was) taste ok but the sauces were watery. Not sure if this is the best way to describe them but the rices were dry. Then naan had been sitting under the heat lamp and was chewy. It felt like India's version of an American cafeteria like Luby's or Furr's. For the quality it's definitely overpriced. read more

We were in that area and decided to have lunch here. Reached there by about 12:15 and were seated immediately. We were offered a table very close to the station where they keep the water jugs and extra glasses and requested to be seated elsewhere and were offered a smaller table so decided to stick to the one offered earlier. As far as the food is concerned, the spread is impressive but the overall quality in terms of flavor is hit-and-miss. Things that I had that were good were, the Pakora, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Kabab, Dosa, Potato filling for the Dosa, Sweet & Sour Vegetable, Kung Pao Chicken, Schezwan Chicken, Lassi, and the Rice Kheer, Things that were a miss were the Sambar, Vada, Gulab Jamun, Sambar, the Fish Curry, and the Vada. The Biriyani was OK. Ok choice if you are in that area and have a good appetite. read more

I will start out by saying this is one of the pricier Indian buffets I've been to, but I did enjoy it. You feel like you're walking into a club when you first enter. Place is pretty spacious. They have a lot of food for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. They do come by to pick up plates often. You can grab your own drinks and such at the buffet (they have mango lassi and chai as well as soda). It can get pretty loud in there, but not terribly overwhelming. read more

I was excited to try an evening Indian buffet which is usually rare but was I was kind of disappointed by the whole experience. Service and Ambiance of this place is great however food is not as good as it should be. I tried multiple chats and they are the only good option to eat here. Tandoori chicken was nice as well but apart from these few dishes everything was below average. Onion pakora were dry, dosa was cold, medu vada was almost burnt, gulab jamun was chewy, gajar hulva was not even made properly. Overall food was below average with great ambiance and service. I wish they work on the food so make this place better. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while and I finally did and it was delicious. I don't eat Indian food as often as I should and when I do to be honest I get white people Indian food (mild butter chicken and basmati rice lol). I went here specifically because I wanted to try different things. Everything I had was so yummy. I think my favorite thing I tried was the palek paneer and the veggie biryani. Everything I had was amazing though. Most of the labels on the buffet had a description of what each dish was for those of us who are unfamiliar with Indian cuisine. This place was super clean and didn't give off your typical buffet vibe. I went for the lunch buffet and after tax it was a little over $20 for one person. A little pricy but totally worth it. Everything had great flavor and there was a great selection. I didn't take enough pictures because I was shy lol. They had all kinds of sauces and chutneys. There was a rice pudding for dessert that was heavenly. Will definitely be back! read more

Excellent Buffet and Service. The weekends get packed so expect to wait around 15 minutes to be seated.

Mediocre food. You have to be seated even though it's a buffet, so it's a hassle during busy times to have to wait even though there are available tables. There's only one buffet line so it's almost impossible to go get more food. Will stick to Our Place up the street instead. read more

I really wanted to like this place. I really, really wanted to like this place. But, unfortunately I can't give it more than 3 stars. And, I'm being very generous with the stars I've given. I wanted to like this place because of the buffet. It has a sampling of north and South Indian food. I wanted to like this place because the ambiance is beautiful. It's really a date-worthy restaurant. Lastly, I wanted to like this place because the owner (through his interactions here with Yelpers) seemed like a genuinely nice guy who's trying to make an amazing restaurant experience. So, what went wrong? Even though there was plenty to choose from, nothing tasted amazing. We sampled EVERYTHING on the buffet! And nothing made us want to go back for another taste. Now, I know that taste is a subjective opinion, however I think the husband and I get a few extra points for being expert Indian food eaters, as we grew up on the stuff. To us, most of the food tasted like it was prepared a long time ago, or (dare I say) pre-packaged. For example, the cocktail samosas. The chutneys on the chaat bar, even some of the sauces in the curries. Not much on the buffet tasted home made. Then there was the exciting all-you-can-drink lassis, sodas, tea and coffee. The lassis were watered down. Really watered down. The coffee was watery and bitter. I didn't care to try the tea. The biggest let down for us was the desert buffet. What a freaking disappointment! There was a tray of fresh cut fruit (yay!), mango custard with fresh fruit, and jalebis. That's it. The rest of the table (more than half) was set up like a tea party, with lots, and lots of store bought deserts. Bite sized brownies, bite sized cinnamon rolls. And powdered donuts! I felt like I was browsing the snacks stand at a convenience store or gas station. These do not belong on an Indian buffet. And, if you choose to put them on the buffet, then you should offer more Indian sweet varieties. Especially if you're going to charge $17+tax+tip for a weekday dinner buffet. Would I return here? No, because it didn't tickle my tongue, but instead emptied my pockets. It's just too expensive for what it is. Even with the included watered down drinks. I'd rather spend my $17+tax+tip at an Indian restaurant where the food is good. For the same price I can have entree, desert and a drink. To end on a high note, the dishes that were mildly pleasing were the daal makhni, chicken biryani, and palak paneer. So, if you happen to find yourself here, make a beeline for these three dishes. Don't bother with the rest. read more

Nicest Indian spread I've seen! A huge multitude of food-- it was all lovely and tasted on point. Many items I've never seen at a buffet before. They have buffet for dinner! They have chaat appetizers, a couple different kinds of wraps, paneer tikka masala, and vegetable biryani to go along with the standard carnivorous options. I loved that they had malai kofta, which is my favorite. They also had sweet almond milk and rose milk, and two kinds of lassi smoothies. They had these mouth refreshers by the checkout that were crunchy and tasted like star anise. The lunch buffet price was about $21 per adult. This will definitely be the first place I hit up after the COVID 19 precautions wane. read more
